summer storms are moving out of the area as more determiningous heat is moving in. a perfect ending to his career. michael phelps captures another gold medal. an update on a young boy's road to recovery after he was caught in the crossfire. we begin with the summer storms. take a look at the ominous clouds hanging over music fest in bethlehem. the stormy weather forced concert goers to evacuate. the big issue right now, the dangerous heat. here's a live look at boat house row. it's steamy out there at this hour. thanks for being with us. we have been in the grips of a heat wave for four days and it's turned deadly. the hot weather is being blamed for two deaths in philadelphia. we is live team coverage of this extreme heat. we begin with karen thomas. we are not talking about a break

any time soon. >> we are not. a lot of times we look to the overnight hours for relief. not much overnight and we are back again tomorrow. temperatures are across the board and mainly in the mid- to upper 80s. everywhere with the exception of the lehigh valley. we had severe thunderstorms roll through and bucks county and severe thunderstorm warning until 9:00 and parts of the counties because the storms rolled through. things are drying out and a little cooler as you see. 76 degrees. we have a few clouds, but dry conditions and looking for overnight temperatures in the lower 80s. we will have more on the heat wave. >> andrea has more on how folks are trying to stay cool despite the soaring temperatures.

for a man who shot and killed an imam in new york. the imam and his associate were shot in the head by a lone gunman after leaving a mosque in queens. according to investigators, there is no evidence to suggest that the two men were targeted because of their faith. in south jersey, police are investigating an incident involving an off duty creeks officer who shot and killed a man outside of his hamilton township home. the man has been identified as dominic neal and there was a restraining order that prevented him from contacting the girlfriend of the officer. the officer told investigators he saw neal walking towards his house with one hand on his waist band. he allegedly told neal to stop and he didn't and the officer fired three or four shots throughout glass of his front door. no one else was hurt. no need to stock up on liquor before the stores close on sunday. coming up next, the details on

night. that begins tomorrow. the pennsylvania liquor control board plans to add sunday hours for 26 more stores early next month. the changes are happening because of a reformed liquor law that went into effect earlier this year. now to the decision 2016 coverage. donald trump's running mate said he will release his tax returns before election day. indiana governor mike pence's decision comes a day after hillary clinton and her running mate tim kaine released their tax returns. donald trump continues to resist calls to release his. he would be the first since 1976 not to release his tax returns if that's what he decides not to do. he is threatening to take away the press credentials of the "new york times." he was critical of the times and continues attacks on the newspaper during a rally in connecticut. house minority leader nancy

taking a look at the weather story, it's all about the heat and humidity. check out philadelphia. hard to believe. cooler up there in allentown, 76 and rain as we did have severe thunderstorms roll through to the north and west. that is cleared out and we are looking for dry conditions. the heat and humidity continuing into sunday. 97 degrees in philadelphia for a high temperature for our sunday. it's going to feel like 106 and the same will be true for monday. a little less oppressive on monday, but still feeling hot. radar satellite, you can see where the storms go through the mid-state and push to the northeast. they did have thunder rolling through and saw lightning going on and stayed dry in the clouds.

hanging around to the north and west. by sunday afternoon, things are fine in delaware as well as the jersey shoreline. clouds are moving into philadelphia late in the day. we can't rule out the possibility of a late day storm especially north and west of philadelphia tomorrow. very unstable atmosphere as we go into monday morning. clouds hang around to the north and west. later on in the day, the heating is going to mix things up and the atmosphere will be unstable on monday, but it's tuesday that we will watch because a short wave moves through and there is potential to get isolated showers and afternoon thunderstorms. keep your eye out for tuesday as well. if you are headed to the game, phils take on the rockies at 1:35. the pitch will be hot.

no weather for the weary at 96 degrees. we are looking for a high temperature of 97. 96, 97, it's going to be feeling oppressive out there. drink lots of water for sure and stay in the shade if possible. we are looking for the afternoon and possibility of afternoon thunderstorms and 97 degrees. remember with that dew point mixed in, it's going to be uncomfortable and feel like triple-digits. what is going to feel like outside. monday we get sunshine into the weekend. warm and 92 degrees. late day thunderstorms and it's looking like thunderstorms are probable on tuesday. >> carson has a hairline facture

a nice way to spend the night. the heat forced the jazz festival indoors. at the holy cross parish a little bit earlier tonight. folks enjoyed the live music, good food and necessary air conditioning. i think people's electric bills will be high this month.
