steve bannon's past. he was involved in a domestic case and the charges were dismissed. his former manager had an incident with a former writer. he was not ultimately charged in that incident. meanwhile, new polling has clinton with a 10-point lead nationally. and today on the trail, donald trump will head to nevada. his democratic vice presidential nominee tim kaine tours through the battleground state of florida. authorities in jackson, mississippi say two catholic nuns have been found slain in their home. police say sisters and nurse practitioners were found dead when they didn't report to work as normal. it appears the nuns were homicide victims however, no motive has been released. it's not immediately clear if their religious work had

anything to do with their killings. police are still on the hunt for a suspect. a statement from the sisters of charity of nazareth where one of the nuns worked asked to pray for the precious lives of sisters paul la and margaret. they served the poor so well. they also asked to pray for the perpetrators. it's been two day since a powerful quake shook central italy and the death toll is still rising. over 300 remain hospitalized. rescue crews are still digging through rubble for survives and dodging debris as hundreds of aftershocks continue to jolt the region. we're on the ground in amatrice. what is the latest there? >> reporter: good morning, betty. i just want to start off by explaining exactly where i am. amatrice is actually about 15 minutes away from where we're located but we have not been able to get through. the road is completely closed in part because of a bridge that partially collapsed overnight.

the mayor of amatrice was here moments ago. he told us that several bridges leading into that town are no longer usable and that leaves amatrice which is the hardest hit area with the most casualties isolated. no one could get in or out. rescue operations are still continuing. they were working overnight. no bodies pulled out alive and the priority remains to try to find people who are still trapped underneath. they do believe there are still people trapped. you can see because of the massive aftershocks including a powerful one this morning it's further destabilized the area. more structures are collapsing and it's making rescues almost impossible. the fear is the next aftershock could be even stronger. >> what a desperate situation there. thank you so much, lucy. >> no response. weapons uncovered. >> tensions arising between u.s.

standing next to a police car when he is knocked about 15 feet through the air. the driver was chased down by a tow truck driver who alerted police of his where abouts. the suspect is charged with aggravated assault and other related offenses. the officer suffered multiple nonlife threatening injuries and is recovering in stable condition. that is good news. rescue crews responded to this terrifying crash site yesterday. the small plane was trying to land when it reportedly hit the tree and slammed into the roof of this home. two people removed from the plane had to be air lifted to area hospitals. no one was inside the home at the time of that crash. two hospitals are waiving medical bills for the victims of the pulse nightclub shooting. they expect to write off more than $5 million in unreimbursed costs. florida hospital which treated 12 incurred more than a half million dollars. any continuing care for patients

this morning it's not construction though. typically we have both directions closed westbound and eastbound between the schuylkill and broad street. right now we have an accident scene around the ben franklin parkway. an accident scene on the off ramp, completely blocking the ramp right now. you'll be diverted around that. that's headed westbound. towards the schuylkill expressway on the vine, you might see and run into some possible delays. again, that ramp is closed there as well. no problems heading eastbound and that construction is not what we're dealing with this morning. hatfield township, watch for a water main break on welsh road and squirrel lane. and more construction with a ramp closure as well, the 42 northbound ramp to 295 northbound is closed this morning. right now a portion of a philadelphia street is closed as police keep a close watch on a chemical leak at a warehouse. >> there is concerns that leaking substance could burn. nbc 10's pamela osborne is live in the the scene in kensington. what can you tell us this morning? he
