ted? >> reporter: yeah, jim and jackie, this wawa parking lot is one of the two crime scenes under investigation right now, and we actually just had to move our camera and truck position because investigators need to process a larger section of the parking lot. as you said, state police said five people were shot and one of them is now dead. >> this bullet-riddled ford expedition came in the parking lot in the wawa outside of the international airport outside of egg harbor and moments later irwin ashford said it almost hit his car. >> they almost sideswiped me coming in, and when they parked, boy, the driver was like can you please help us? can you please help us? we've been shot. the passenger was hanging from the window and like had his hand up leaning over the window. >> reporter: he says he saw four people in the suv, all wounded. sources say it appears the incident began on the nearby atlantic city expressway shortly after 3:00 p.m. with the expedition ending up at the

wawa. new jersey state police say a fifth shooting victim was found in a car on the garden state parkway near the ac expressway interchange. one of the victims died. >> crazy. i've never -- it's -- it's sad. it's sad to even look at it is sad. it's unbelieve. a i've never seen anything like this, honestly. me personally, i'm 45. never. >> back here live outside the wawa in egg harbor township. authorities are trying to figure out what prompted the gunfire and also who was firing. what's also unclear right now are the exact conditions of the four surviving victims who were taken to atlantic care regional medical center in atlantic city. i'm told a spokesman from the new jersey state police is on his way here to the crime scene outside the wawa. we're hoping to get an update from him with new information as soon as possible. live in egg harbor township, ted greenberg, nbc 10 news. our other big story tonight, a 100-year-old philadelphia church went up in flames this

morning. the house of worship was home to five congregations. tonight it is still an active scene in the overbrook section. nbc 10's cydney long is joining us from the church who say they are just devastated. >> reporter: they are. more than 300 parishioners worshipped here for many generations, both in the presbyterian and baptist communities. it's where they attended sunday school, went to church, got married or said good-bye to loved ones, so today's fire is a tremendous loss. >> it's just very hard to see. >> reporter: parishoners and neighbors of good shepherd united presbyterian watched in horror as nearly unstoppable flames tore through the church from the basement to the rooftop. giant black smoke could be seen for miles. josephine mack was inside with her mother and got out safely and couldn't believe their eyes. >> just blew my mind the way the smoke was twirling and coming through the floor. i panicked and helped my mom get

donald trump's campaign just bought $10 million worth of tv time for his new ad that will play in nine states, including pennsylvania. >> donald trump's america, working families get tax relief. millions of new jobs created. >> the ad focuses on the u.s. economy. trump promises lower taxes, more jobs and growth for small businesses. nbc news reports trump ruled out one tax plan in the ad and has not endorsed the other. trump again tweeted about the violence in chicago. he said, quote, now that african-americans are seeing what a bad job hillary-type policy and management has done to the inner cities, they want trump, end quote. as for hillary clinton, her campaign is opening two more offices in our region in just a few minutes. pennsylvania democrats will work out of chester and bethlehem to encourage people to register before the october deadline. clinton's campaign also today rolls her plan to address millions of americans dealing with mental illness.

million more than the final offer made by owner carl icahn. the atlantic city casino is scheduled to close in october. within the last hour, the reward for information about the murder of an 8-year-old girl in camden jumped to $76,000. today would have been gabby carter's first day of third grade, but now her family is planning her funeral. gabby died last friday two days after getting caught in the middle of a gang shooting. no arrests have been made. >> it shouldn't take reward money to convince somebody to take when a little girl gets killed, you know what i mean, but hopefully it does. >> today the community offered prayers for the mother who is pregnant with another child. pennsylvania governor tom wolf says the state needs to follow in the stoot steps of philadelphia and other cities by decriminalizing small amounts of mayor wan a. today wolf said too many people are going to prison for marijuana possession and that's clogging up prisons and hurting

>> well, we hit the 90s again today. four days in a row. still above normal for this time of the year. 92 philadelphia and delaware. our pennsylvania suburbs are coming in close to 90 in some locations and cochranville is 88. malvern coming in at 90 degrees right now and chaz ford 89 degrees and a warm afternoon in warrington. ft. washington 89 and b bedminister coming in at 86 degrees. we'll stay hot and dry until thursday, and then a chance for scattered showers, maybe a thunderstorm. mostly on thursday. we could see some as early as late wednesday night, so as we go into tomorrow. philadelphia area near 90 as well as wednesday. thursday we're dropping to the mid-80s with that rain chance. pennsylvania suburbs are around 90 the next two days and sunny, and then by sunday 38 degrees with a rain chance.

wednesday near 90 and staying dry and by thursday we have the rain chance around 80 degrees in the lehigh vale. if you're in new jersey, around 90 tomorrow and wednesday. the shore mostly around the mid to low 80s, and if you're in delaware tuesday and wednesday, around 90 degrees and staying dry and everybody has that rain chance thursday and temperatures dropping to about the mid to low 80s and an even bigger drop as we go into friday, so a cooler end to the week. those are going to be some noticeable changes, especially as we go into friday, so you will notice the temperatures dropping off. going into labor day weekend though, another thing we'll be watching aside from the cool air are the rip currents at the beaches. that's one thing we'll pay very close attention to. now, it is in part due to two tropical systems. we have one right off the north carolina coastline and the other tropical depression just south of florida in the gulf of mexico. look at the first up, tropical depression eight off the carolina coast. it could become a tropical storm and then kind of swinging back out to sea once it grazes the outer banks of north carolina.

staying away from our area we don't expect the rain from it, but it will be affecting rip currents along our beaches in new jersey and delaware. so that would be more like the middle of this week but threat is going to start by about tomorrow. tropical depression number nine though in the gulf of mexico could become a tropical storm and could make landfall anywhere from the florida panhandle to the tampa bay area possibly as a tropical storm. that would be on thursday. cross over the state hand move into the atlantic and stay offshore from us, but the wind around this thing would then affect the rip currents for us again. this would be going into the weekend just in time for labor day weekend. if you're heading to the beaches in delaware or the jersey shore, be very cautious because we do expect a risk for rip currents by then. so we're going to start that by tomorrow. for the weekend, if you're heading to the shore for your labor day weekend, we'll take a look at a beautiful forecast for that. saturday, sunday and monday around 85 degrees. nice and sunny and uv index very high. again, be very careful of the rip currents. your ten day on 10, you see the
