afternoon, early this afternoon. as i was tweeting, the computer models were changing, the track shifting farther to the west. it's stronger than it was, but it's not that well organized. it's not going to intensify rapidly. tremendous amounts of rain going into florida right now. and the whole general area has a tremendous amount of moisture that is going to be moving up the coast in the next couple of days. right now it has 45-mile-an-hour maximum winds. it's moving north-northeast at only 7 miles an hour. right up toward the florida panhandle, and there's no doubt that it's going to hit land. computer models show that it will continue to move inland. and close enough to us, especially with the size of this system, that it will be bringing rain. some parts of the area will get it by saturday afternoon.

that they could see and hear what developed. cydney long, nbc 10 news. democratic nominee hillary clinton took shots at her republican rival today. clinton was in ohio. the american legion, she blasted trump on several issues, including that message that america is no longer great. clinton said that was an insult to men and women who served in the armed forces. hillary clinton's running mate tim kaine made a push for pennsylvania voters for a second day in a row. nbc 10's lauren mayk joins us live. what was kaine's message today? >> reporter: he told voters that this is a job interview with them. an interview to be president. and he argued that donald trump's work is incomplete. tim kaine taking aim at republican nominee donald trump. as he warned clinton supporters not to stop working in pennsylvania. >> it's going to be a tough,

prejudicial phrases, calling mexicans criminals and going after mexican-american judge for god's sakes because of his national origin. he clearly has some educating to do. that's not the case with hillary clinton. >> reporter: and he went on to say that mexico is important to the u.s. in a number of ways, including trade. and that donald trump has shown disrespect to mexico, to mexicans, and to mexican-americans. live in bethlehem, i'm lauren mayk, nbc 10 news. a jersey shore doctor is arrested and accused of inappropriately touching a female patient. had eworks in brick township. he's an obgyn. the woman told police he touched her after an exam. he was arrested last night. a canadian woman reading on the beach this morning survived being run over by a public works truck. the woman was just lying on the sand when she was hit during trash pickup. for a time she was even stuck under the truck. she was rushed to the hospital

but is expected to be okay. the driver agreed to take a blood test. tonight philadelphia police are hunting for the hit-and-run driver who killed a motorcyclist. investigators tell us the driver of a silver gmc yukon crashed into the bike before 11:30 last night. raul perez died at the hospital. the suv driver got away. police found the suv, but not the driver. septa plans to give passengers an update tomorrow on the process to get all those trains back on track. the company in bucks county was selected to make replacement parts for the trains. it will give a timeline on how much longer it will take. septa pulled 120 of the regional trains almost two months ago, after cracks were discovered on parts of them. the commuters have dealt with delays with fewer trains in service. we'll bring you what septa says tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. ond the

right now the rip current risks at the beaches, where surfers enjoyed the large waves. >> the red flags are whipping along the jersey shore. a red flag day meant boogie boards weren't allowed. and swimmers can't go into the surf past their knees. >> boaters should heed the warnings. krystal klei reports from ocean city. >> reporter: labor day weekend is typically marked with fun in the sun. and on the water. >> i like to get out. we'll just stay in the back if it's going to be rough. >> reporter: but with three tropical systems to affect the coast through labor day weekend, voters know the track of those storms is especially important. >> we've been out there a couple times and storms have come up and the waves got pretty big. you know it's time to come in. when you have the advance warning like this, you really take a little extra precautions and stay inside. >> reporter: the three systems will generate large swells out

at sea. that will lead to rougher waters along the jersey shore and the delaware beaches. in fact, wave heights may get up to 7 feet by this weekend. it's more typical to see those heights around 2 to 4 feet. as a result, boaters tell me they'll be staying in the calmer waters of the bay. the coast guard says it's important to always use life jackets and let someone know when you're going out and when you plan to come back. for this weekend -- >> be aware of the weather. check the weather before you go out. if you have a boat that is died up, check the lines, go onboard and check to make sh there's any loose gear. >> reporter: krystal klei, nbc 10 news. >> you need to be prepared. >> yes. i know the updates keep coming in. let's go to our hurricane expert, glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> yeah, the official word came out at 5:00 this afternoon. but we put out the tweets about 1:00 when some of the new data was coming in. and leading to a more westward

track, which would impact us even more. this is part of the new tropical storm hermine. in the gulf of mexico. but the moisture is not just for new mexico, it's coming up from the caribbean, through cuba, into the gulf. so we've got caribbean moisture, gulf of mexico moisture. we've got atlantic moisture. that's a lot into one storm. and it means tremendous potential for rain. depending on where it goes, all right? let's see. we've been showing you these lines. the closer they are together, the more moisture. we're sure it will hit the florida panhandle, okay? now we have more of these right near the coast. even a little bit inland. and not only do we see a lot of those lines close to the coast,

you see some of those curls? let me go back here. watch the lines. see, there's a straight line. you see the curl? that means it slows down, may back up a little bit, the longer it hangs around, the more rain you're going to get. the more rain you get, the more flooding there's going to be. 45-mile-an-hour max winds now, moving only 7 miles an hour. and it's expected to accelerate and not necessarily reach hurricane strength. but you don't have to have a hurricane to produce a really nasty weekend. or at least part of the weekend. it could possibly go a little west of us. possibly a little far east. but it's not going to go far enough away to miss us completely. here's the most reliable computer model in the world, european, this afternoon, confirming what other models

have been saying, rain coming in later on saturday, worst of it comes on sunday, and then it moves out slowly. so saturday the rain in delaware and south jersey in the afternoon, coming to the rest of the area saturday night. sunday is the worst of it. this is going to be flooding. that would be the day. windy with the worst of the winds at the shore, of course. and morning rain at the shore monday. gradual clearing as the system moves out. assuming it moves out fast enough. it may move out and then start to come back a little bit. weird things could be happening with this thing early next week. in the meantime, we've got some showers headed toward the philadelphia area right now. thunderstorms coming close to chester county. so beware of that over the next several hours. there's a front coming down. could be some thunderstorms with that. but by tomorrow morning, things have dried out. and so there we go, with the

threat of thunderstorms. by 10:00, and into the early portion of the morning rush tomorrow. and then it's going to dry out, and it's not going to get into the 90s tomorrow. we break the heat wave. friday is the nicest day. no doubt about that. saturday, the rain starts to come in. jersey shore and delaware first. then philly and the p.a. suburbs, everybody gets rain. that's the symbol for the wind coming in as we go to monday. so here's the ten-day forecast. temperatures get knocked down because of this storm. and once it moves away. look what happens to the temperature. up, up, up, another heat wave next week. come on, hurricane, clear it up for the weekend down at the shore. the flyers unveil their 50th anniversary special jersey.
