they show the qb wearing socks depicting police officers as pigs. the photos were taken earlier in training camp. kaepernick said he's been wearing them in protest of, quote, rogue cops who put the community and other officers at risk. kaepernick posted this statement on instagram this afternoon. it read in part, i wore these socks, in the past, because the rogue cops that are allowed to hold positions in police departments not only put the community in danger but also put the cops that have the right intentions in danger by creating an environment of tension and mistrust. i have two uncles and friends who are police officers and work

a reunion five decades in the making happened today between a man and his childhood record. ♪ >> danny crane's mom recorded him singing back in 1963 when he was five years old. but that record was accidentally thrown out. well, it somehow ended up in the collection of robert pelicano who has been picking up records at flea markets and yard sales for decade. pelicano noticed crane's name on the record and found him online. the two met up today at geno's

steaks. >> it's a family thing, it's sentimental. you need to have it back, and if i could find you, i was going to do it. >> i can't thank you enough. >> crane recorded three songs on the record back in 1963, including "on top of spaghetti." to our big story tonight, hurricane hermine making landfall in florida this morning. the storm is heading our way and could make things messy for the labor day record. it's a crucial weekend for people down the shore. >> reporter: you can tell by one of these puddles it was a bit of a rainy start to the holiday weekend here in atlantic city. but that's not enough to keep people away from the boardwalk, supporting the city through its tough financial times. a welcome sight to see in atlantic city, a sea of visitors on the boardwalk. several thousand of them lined up for the zach brown concert on the beach. many others just here to enjoy

the last bit of summer. >> i think everybody should come down to the shore. >> it's been nice to spend time together as a family with our very, very close friends. >> this is the future of atlantic city. it's not a casino town anymore. we have to think outside the box. >> reporter: the mare toyor tol 10 what the boardwalk needs to rely on to help the economy. down the shore, the tangiers motel is one of the few that are packed for the weekend. the owner said despite a couple cancellations because of the weather forecast, there is only one room left. >> they don't want to come down and put themselves at risk, and it's understandable. >> reporter: back in ac, the organizers of the concerts have backup plans for any bad weather. extra police and firefighters will be staffed for÷ high tide and riptide. >> we're anxious any time we hear about a storm, even if it's not a hurricane. >> reporter: in atlantic city, i'm brandon hudson, nbc 10 news.

and so many questions about the path and the timing of this hurricane. for that let's turn it over to meteorologist sheena parveen. >> jacqueline, as we go into the weekend, the storm will get closer. we'll have better details on the timing and organization of it. take a look at it now, though. this is the big bend of florida as you approach the panhandle. that is the eye of the hurricane. it's making landfall right now near a little area called caribel, which is right on the coast south of tallahassee. there is tallahassee. so this storm, most likely the eye will be passing over tallahassee. still a category 1 hurricane. and with the landfall, we have seen it sparking tornado warnings. that's what this red box is. so as these things move on shore, the rain continues to spark severe weather. that is the eye of hurricane hermine. we're watching it right now move on shore in the panhandle of florida, so it is making landfall with winds sustained near the center around 80 miles an hour. so the updated track, now here are the stats on it. a little wider view of the

storm. you can see the rain bands extend all the way along the coast of tampa and we're watching these heavy rain bands move on shore here. winds at 80 miles an hour. it's moving a little quicker than it was earlier today, but take a look at the track. it's going to speed up a little bit as it moves across the southeast. by friday evening, it should be in parts of north carolina. then it heads off the eastern seaboard, moves offshore. notice as we go farther out in time, the cone gets much larger. a lot of computer models are stalling this storm right off our coast. that's saturday where you see the first area of low pressure. sunday is the next one, then we have monday and tuesday. that's a total of four days where we're not going to have much movement, possibly. so if it does stall offshore, it will still be churning up our ocean. still expect windy conditions at the shore, still expect dangerous rip currents, also very rough seas. now, parts of our area could be dry from this if the rain stays far enough offshore. that's something we'll have to watch very closely. now, your weekend, we have some

heavy rain in the forecast depending on where you live, but the windiest conditions will be at the shore. so going into your labor day weekend, saturday the best chance of any rain will be south jersey along the shore and delaware later in the afternoon. sunday the best chance of rain will be mostly along the shore. again, we'll have to really watch the track of this storm on sunday. if it's close enough to us, it will be swinging more of the area some rain. if it's a little farther out to sea, we'll be on the weaker side of this storm and we could see less rain across the area but still some windy conditions. monday we'll start to see a lot of this kind of pull away, but again, if it stalls offshore like some of the models are suggesting, that's another thing we're going to have to watch. either way dangerous rip currents at the shore this weekend. we still have that rip current threat jersey shore, delaware beach's rough seas across your entire labor day weekend. so please keep that in mind. tropical storm watch for the jersey shore and delaware beaches. this is going to go through sunday. we do have a tropical storm

watch, meaning tropical conditions are possible. these are winds gusting near 50 miles an hour, potentially, at the shore and the delaware beaches. sustained winds could be near 30 to 40 miles an hour. here's what we expect. saturday afternoon, rain in new jersey and delaware. we're dryer for pennsylvania. we go into sunday, chance of rain for new jersey and delaware. very dependent on where the center of this thing is going to be. we expect it offshore. gusty winds at the shore by monday, gradual clearing, but it will still be windy. let's look at future weather because this is also updated based on what a lot of models are doing with the track. tomorrow for your friday, beautiful day. low humidity, highs near 80. low clouds moving on sunday into delaware and new jersey. saturday evening a lot of the heavy rains offshore. again, if the track shifts slightly, this rain would then move inland. as of now, the model is trying to see it farther offshore. we go into sunday, some of the heaviest rain could still be offshore, but again, if the

will be released from jail tomorrow because of good behavior. brock turner served just half of a six-month sentence. the case prompted outrage and led california lawmakers to pass tougher sexual assault laws. turner will be required to register on the sex offender's list for life. new at 11:00, a pennsylvania professor denied tenure is now on a hunger strike to protest the decision. juan rojo teaches spanish at lafayette college in easton. he said a school recommended him for tenure, but he was facing negativity from students. he said he didn't have any recourse other than his hunger strike to appeal that decision. >> i had to find a way to bring light to this issue. are you really going to be the person that just talks the talk or are you going to walk the walk? >> rojo is only drinking water and sports drinks, no food. the school says it respects his
