chief forum on nbc 10. nbc 10's randy gyllenhaal is live in new york tonight, where both candidates are at the intrepid sea, air and space museum. randy? >> reporter: yeah, we're live aboard this decommissioned world war ii aircraft carrier, the intrepid is now permanently docked on the hudson river, serves as a museum now. it has military items onboard here, like this attack chopper used in the vietnam war. and retired military jets and other planes. this is all the perfect fitting location for tonight's commander in chief forum. now, let's take a live picture of the stage where we're told final preparations are getting under way. both hillary clinton and donald trump will appear back-to-back, but they will not be debating each other. instead, they'll be taking questions from veterans, active duty military members and the candidates will be pitching their national security platforms. let's take a look at a brand-new nbc news survey monkey poll.

breaks this week. dplc glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here now with a look at the weather this week. >> significantly hotter and significantly more humid. we got to 91 degrees, after 88 yesterday. but 9 a tomorrow. 93 friday. 96 on saturday. and we're going to be pretty close to record levels. these are the records. these are the current forecasts, as you can see within a degree. every one of those days, 89 philadelphia now. 90 in wilmington. 86 in coatesville. 89 in allentown. you still see the swirl from hermine, but at least it's starting to move away. and the showers that were near the jersey shore at this time yesterday are gone. so for the rest of the night, we expect mostly clear skies across the area. it's going to be more humid than it was last night. so temperatures don't even go below 70 in philadelphia. into the mid to upper 60s north

and west of the lehigh valley, for example. only 71 for the low temperature in delaware. but even hotter weather is coming. i'll let you know how long that's going to last in just a few minutes. because of the heat glenn just talked about, changes were made for students in trenton. the hot weather forced trenton schools to shorten its school days from today through the rest of the week. the trenton district has 22 schools, but not all of them have central air conditioning. working parents are balancing this last-minute change the best way they can. >> tomorrow's supposed to be hotter. i can understand that. but i thought they had air conditioning. what's the problem. >> frankly, it interrupts our schedule big-time. i'm a barber. and i do everything by appointments. >> parents also said making things harder is that the district's after-school programs don't kick in until mid-september. philadelphia school leaders don't expect to let kids out

early because of the heat. mayor jim kenney and the superintendent helped ring the bells in mount airy. students went back to school this morning for the start of the school year. new details this evening about the now closed itt technical institute. the community college of philadelphia today reached out to former itt tech students on facebook. cpp said to contact them about enrolling in classes this fall. itt technical institute announced yesterday it's closing all 130 campuses. four of them are in the delaware valley. a septa driver was attacked in upper darby today. septa tweeted out a picture at the woman at the center around 10:30 this morning. police tell us the woman hit the bus driver as she got off the bus. the driver was not hurt. former white house secret service agents arrested in delaware, now faces federal child porn charges in florida. lee moore has a court date

tomorrow in palm beach. they agreed to put his case on hold after a florida grand jury indicted him on more serious federal charges. moore was a uniformed officer at the white house when he was arrested in november. prosecutors say he thought he was talking to a 14-year-old girl online. and trying to meet up for sex when they busted him. agents say moore did have online sex chats with actual young girls. pennsylvania senator bob casey is about to deliver a speech on national security. coming up at 6:30, casey will address the council on foreign relations in washington. his speech is focused on cutting off isis funding. supporters of jamal rallied in center city today. the group says he isn't given proper treatment for hepatitis c and they want him released. he's in prison for killing faulkner back in 1981. a south jersey man is behind bars in connection with a dogfighting ring. the department of justice charged robert elliott sr. today, he's akised of owning pit

if she's going to give it a go for the 2020 games in tokyo. >> she has time to figure that out. >> she does. a massive makeover is happening at the franklin institute. >> an experimental plane is getting a much-needed face lift after more than eight decades on display. the stainless steel amphibious plane has been there since 1945. an aviation enthusiast will help restore the plane at his hangar in bensalem, bucks county. >> fdr was president, my parents were 2 years old. all the chaos and turbulence of world war ii stood ahead. this has been witness throughout the 20th century. >> it will take another two days for crews to completely dismantle the plane. once it's restored, it will be back at the franklin institute by the end of next year. new jersey residents can now text 911 for help. the state's attorney general introduced the new technology today at rutgers university.

24/7. any resident who doesn't follow the rules here, they have to move out. why are maybe neighbors so against this plan? their signs are everywhere. >> it has nothing really to do with us. >> reporter: neighbors tell me the church is simply a bad neighbor. they have homeless people sleeping in the church at night. the pastor admitting they allow it, even though they're not supposed to. >> we feel spiritually obligated to help. >> reporter: they say the music and yelling can get loud. one neighbor tells me he isn't convinced the church would put quality people in the tiny houses. >> we're not talking about a mother and a couple children who lost her job. we're talking about people who are chronically homeless that basically, i mean, they can walk, they can talk, and they can carry a collection plate. but they can't get a job? >> reporter: the church has to go through legal hopes and zoning changes before it can happen. neighbors tell me they're going to try to make sure it doesn't happen. tim furlong, nbc 10 news.

to the weather now. doesn't really feel like back to school, does it. >> they didn't need a jacket or sweater this morning at the bus stop. they have the next six or seven months for that. glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here with our warm-up. glenn? >> yeah, for those classes and schools that don't have air conditioning, it's going to be a rough couple of days here. 89 degrees right now in philadelphia. not especially humid. but that's going to change by tomorrow. 89 p.a. suburbs, lehigh valley, near 90 in delaware. lehigh valley, we've had places that have touched the 90-degree mark today. and we're going to be showing you that right now. you can see, merchtown 89 degrees right now. allentown 89. blandon is 89 right now. bethlehem 88 degrees. so it has been pretty warm during the day. still seeing that spin, that

circulation around hermine, still not that far away. but at least this time it's starting to move farther away. and that's why the weather at the jersey shore has really improved from what we saw yesterday. we've got another heat wave on the way. and with the higher humidity, it's going to feel hotter. so today it felt like 92. thursday 95. feeling like 102. temperature and humidity drop a little bit on friday. very weak front goes through. and then it's back up on saturday. 96, feeling like 103. it's a good thing that the eagles are not playing on saturday. now, may and june we had eight days of 90 degrees or above. 16 days in july. that's half the month. august, 17 days. that's more than half of the month. and so we have a total of 41 days of 90-plus. that's already more than last year. the record is 55 days.

and just for your information, the latest 90 in philadelphia's history is in early october. so there's plenty of time for some more 90s, even though in the ten-day forecast we don't have them for next week. but here we are for tomorrow. chestnut hill, 93, feeling like 100. upper makefield, feeling like 101. easton 94, feeling like 100. not quite as hot at the jersey shore tomorrow. but that's pretty warm. 88 in longport, feeling like 94. not exactly tremendous relief. but a lot better than harrington, and southern delaware, 94, feeling like 105. of course, you can get your own seven-day forecast right at the bottom of your screen at any time during any weather cast. it's not just for philadelphia anymore. and this is a philadelphia forecast, saturday to sunday. that's a big drop in

temperatures. but the humidity is going to be much lower on sunday, too. so it's going to be a lot more comfortable sunday. lehigh valley drops ten degrees. much of new jersey, south jersey drops ten. but the jersey shore only drops three degrees there, because the wind direction is more critical there. now, for the eagles, good thing the game is sunday. this is still warm for football. but tailgating at 75, low humidity, that's not bad for those in the stands. it's going to be pretty comfortable game. especially compared to what we're seeing here, thursday, friday and saturday. the temperature goes down sunday as you see. and monday goes down even more. comes back up a bit. by wednesday, maybe 90 degrees. but then later next week we're back down into the 70s. >> carson wentz needs to stay hydrated come sunday. labor day brought in big bucks, more than 888,000
