theborou boroug borough are cal incredible. chris dorman survived seven gun shots a few months ago. >> i was ready to come back that day. if i could have, i would have. >> drew smith was there as he went back on patrol. >> reporter: with a handshake from his chief, officer chris dorman walked out of the police station, the start of a 12-hour shift. >> just like any other day. >> reporter: he suited up in a uniform he says he's missed since the start of his recovery. two of the seven shots fired at him hit his old bulletproof vest. he's wearing a loaner tonight. >> i like the job i had. best job i've ever had. >> reporter: back in june when dornen's supervisors heard this, they feared the worst. >> it's amazing that everything transpired, that he's okay.

>> reporter: police charged dante island with murder. dorman has gone through surgery and painful procedures. >> i was thinking six months, maybe a year, not two and a half months. >> reporter: his youngest relative and biggest supporter was out there to wish the officer well. and through all this, dorman's family has gotten bigger. his police family is grateful to have him back and amazed that the man who took a bullet through his cheek is serving with a smile tonight. in full croft, drew smith, nbc 10 news. an s.w.a.t. stand off put a west philadelphia neighborhood on edge for nearly two hours tonight an armed man barricaded himself inside and fired shots at police. andrea klein thomas was there as the situation unfolded. she's joining us live from the

18th district tonight. >> reporter: two people are recovering from gun shot wounds tonight, that is the victim and suspect. police believe they are related. they say they're possibly brother and sister. >> i saw the lady in a pink, like nightgown. and she was in the alley way knelt down. and he was yelling for help. >> reporter: police responded to calls about a woman screaming just before 4:30 this afternoon. when they arrived, officers say a woman in her 20s opened the door. >> shots fired. >> reporter: police say when talking to the woman a man started shooting from the back of the house. police returned fire and retreated to the street. >> we didn't get a chance to ascertain what this was about. gunfire erupt the almost immediately. >> reporter: caught in the middle. the woman was shot but was able to run to a neighbor's house. police have not said whose bullet pierced her arm. >> it was outside, everywhere, and they called for backup, and

a everybody came to the alley way. >> reporter: the armed man bailed to the basement of the home. there were also four children barricaded inside. the entire block and surrounding streets were blocked off. >> can't even come up the block. people that live on the block couldn't come home. >> reporter: skyforce 10 shows s.w.a.t. officers entering the home. the suspect was taken out on a stretcher with a gunshot wound to his leg. the two adults and children were unharmed. nearly two hours later it was over. >> any kids in the house, and they're still shooting. >> reporter: so far police have not released the name of the suspect or what charges will be filed. we're live tonight in west philadelphia. new details on last night's story, a woman is facing charges after she tried to run over an officer with a stolen jeep in

kensington. officers say she started driving straight toward them. an officer fired shots, hitting avila in the hand. she hit a barrier before crashing into a police van. no officers were hurt. donald trump came out swinging at hillary clinton at a campaign rally in pensacola, florida tonight. >> she's being so protected. she could walk into this arena right now and shoot somebody with 20,000 people watching right smack in the middle of the heart. and she wouldn't be prosecuted, okay? >> the republican presidential nominee slammed clinton's handling of her e-mails during her time as secretary of state and attacked the feds' decision not to press charges. pressure keeps building for trump to release his tax returns, but mike pence released a decade's worth of his returns.

it will start off warm tomorrow. you have showers and storms south of harrisburg, they are expected to weaken for the rest of the night. they could possibly affect lehigh valley, but the weekend, it's part steamy and then part comfortable. here's the updated forecast. 96 in philadelphia. near record tomorrow with high humidity making it feel over 100. but 86 sunday. so most of these places are about 10 degrees colder than on saturday, but the jersey shore is different, because we have a sea breeze saturday and a land breeze on sunday. can you see what a difference it makes, depending on the wind direction. and so we were going to be close to records, predicting 96 in philadelphia and also west chester could tie a record, allentown could come a little short. but some of these other places are going to be very, very close, and of course it's going to feel so much hotter. as you go through the morning,

the feels-like temperature about 83, but in the afternoon, 104 philadelphia and voorhees and wilmingt wilmington. this is the newest computer model that has just come in here and updated automatically on our computers, and sunday afternoon, we're talking about mid-80s. so we go from 104 to 84, yeah, it's going to feel 20 degrees cooler on sunday. tomorrow, south philly for temple game, 96, feeling like 101. 92 feeling like 108. we're not talking about much of a chance of any kind of showers, even the township feeling like 100. but at the shore feeling like 89 or 90. cape may feel ago little hotter, and there's delaware again, feeling like over 100. but it's not going to feel that way by the time the eagles are starting. it's going to be into the low
