hill, and working to find out if anybody was hurt here. body shop burning. we caught the intense flames this morning, that shop is destroyed, and the fire led to major traffic issues in the area. good morning, i'm vai sikahema. the body auto shop on route 73 started just before 6:00 this morning. monique braxton is live on the scene with what witnesses saw. what are they telling you, monique? >> reporter: hey, vai, right now, most of the firefighters who responded here, just about 6:00 this morning, have cleared the scene, but the fire marshal remains, as well as a few other investigators, and you can see, there is yellow tape keeping people out of the area of michael's auto body shop. look what we saw about 6:00 this morning. the body shot was totally engulfed. we watched firefighters from del

rand, lummerton, battle the blaze for more than two hours. neighbors saw it across the delaware river and over route 73. >> for a couple of minutes, it was a massive explosion. it was a ball, like a bomb went off, probably one of the cars. >> reporter: where did it appear to be inside the building? >> right where the smoke is coming from, where the bays are. >> reporter: bob marshall tells us the fumes were petty bad as well. he said he could smell plastic and rubber burning. i asked firefighters if they were planning to do any evacuation, and you was told no, at that point, they thought everybody was safe. live for now, monique braxton, nbc 10 news. >> thank you. we can see the fire is out now, but had a big impact on traffic in this area in the morning.

let's check in with nbc 10 first alert francesca. >> since 6:00, we've been watching this accident. all lanes have opened up, but what does it mean. slow going traffic heading towards center city, this is cinnamonson, and the fire took place along the north side of route 73, around high street. so slow going traffic in the area here is a live shot over towards pennsylvania, we're tracking these travel times in the green, not too bad. it will take you 14 minutes, again, not too bad. also, we're watching an accident out by sheltonham and coventry avenue. there is slow traffic, and a lot happening on the roads this morning. let's look at mass transit. we're watching delays for the doyles town lane. you do see typical delays for the line as well, and just

heading up the road, you can take it towards center city or 611 towards center city and you'll be just fine. vai, back to you. >> thank you. more mass transit news this morning, in the set to slow down the transit agency says 18 silverliner railcars have been temporarily sidelined again. a modification will be made to the railcars and they'll be available for service later this week. 120 regional railcars were taken out of service in july to fix a structural flaw. the problem led to delays along regional rail lines. police in bucks county are investigating a deadly stabbing. they found a man stabbed to death inside a mobile home on foster drive in morrisville. another woman was found stabbed outside of the home. she is now in critical condition at a local hospital. police are not sure who stabbed who, but right now, they are not looking for any other suspects. one person is in the hospital after a crash involving

a school bus in montgomery county. over 7th and cheltenhah just around 9:00 this morning, and a bus and car collided. not sure how the crash happened. today, people from the philadelphia area are in hear ru -- harrisburg. a bus left about 8:00 this morning, and they'll protest in the state capital for a minimum wage fight. the protesters say they view raising wages as a moral issue. >> working for justice for all. that means addressing things like fair wages, living wages for everyone. >> buses are also heads to harrisburg from allentown, redding and pittsburgh. governor tom wolf has called on state lawmakers to raise the minimum wage for all. he signed an executive order

requiring state workers to be paid at least $10.15. republican leaders say they're reviewing an increase, but they say that the minimum wage was never intended to be a living wage, but should act as starting or training pay. right now, the minimum wage in pa stands at $7.25 an hour. in nurnl, $8.38, and delaware, $8.25 an hour. sun is shining, and humidity is low. great start to the workweek, as we give you a live look at the ben franklin park way in philadelphia, with the museum of art in the background. nbc 10 chief meteorologist, glenn hurricane schwartz is here. >> hey, vai, quite a change from what we've seen over the last week or so. remember, we had all those 95 degree days, three in a row. thursday, friday and saturday. yesterday, 85.

it became more comfortable in the afternoon. today's high, only about 82 degrees, with very low humidity. we're in the 70s right now, across much of the area. 75 in philadelphia. suburbs, lehigh valley at 72 degrees, and at the jersey shore with ocean temperatures 74, it is 74 in holgate, summers point, 77, cape pmay courthouse. as we look at the radar, no clouds around, and so there is obviously no threat of rain any time today or any time soon. so we're going up near 80 today or even low 80s, but these temperatures are a little below average. look how cool tonight. down into the 50s. lehigh valley down to 54 degrees by tomorrow morning, even parts of jersey shore down into the upper 50s. it is going to heat up again, i'll let you know when and how

much, just a few minutes. carson wentz is the talk of philadelphia. the rookie quarterback led the eagles to an opening day victory. the top draft fick was a winner from his opening drive. launching a touchdown pass to give the eagles the lead on cleveland, that they would never give up. in the third quarter, wentz hooked up with nelson aguilar, beating the browns, 29-10. eagles fans left the link wild about carson wentz. the first rookie quarterback to start an eagles season in eight decades, took his big moment in stride. >> it's a game. tried to enjoy it and had a lot of fun. >> he doesn't let any of the outside stuff affect him. he hones in what he needs to do and perfects his craft.

i wasn't surprised. >> this is who he is. this is his dna. he really handled himself great all weekend long. he prepared like he was a five, six year veteran. >> carson wentz and eagles will travel to chicago for monday night football next week. and before the game began, the eagles an fans paid tribute to the victims of 9/11. vice-president joe biden was there. first responders and members of the marine corps walked out onto the field, joined by members of both football teams, and vice-president joe biden. they held the american flag. as the national anthem played. the vice-president met with firefighters privately before the ceremony, shaking their hands, giving them a small medallion like this, and thanking them for their service. >> just like out of body experience, you know, just holding that flag and having the crowd was just amazing. >> it was awesome. it was nice on the sidelines

there. it was an honor. >> after the game, the vice-president, went to the eagles locker room to congratulate the team, defensive tackle, bull allen, snapping a selfie. they all stood for the national anthem yesterday. philadelphia police and fbi hope new photos will help them catch a serial bank robber, the most recent one happened at the td bank on south 11th street in center city. take a look. investigators say he hit the same bank last sunday. they believe he also tried to rob the citizen's bank on north 5th street on august 19th, and then robbed the hyperbion bank later. the school board meets tonight after a judge ruled after they must redo their budget. they called the 4.4 tax increase unlawful. keeping any increase at 2.4%.

a house fire in tennessee killed nine people, including five children, racing through the home in fem mimemphis. one child is fighting for their life. it is unclear what caused the fire or if they had a working smoke detector. authorities are investigating a fire at a florida mosque, as a case of arson. the mosque is the same one attended by the orlando nightclub shooter, omar mateen. the fire broke out in fort pairs this morning, and surveillance video shows a man approaching the scene. mateen opened fire at the pulse nightclub back on june 12th, killing 49 people and wounding 53 others. it was the worst mass shooting

in modern u.s. history. and now to decision 2016. hillary clinton canceled a trip to california, after her campaign revealed that she was diagnosed with pneumonia on friday. the illness was not disclosed until hours after mrs. clinton nearly collapsed yesterday, as she left the 9/11 ceremony early. andrea mitchell looks at what impact it could have on the race. >> hillary clinton recovering at home this morning, after sunday's health scare. clinton's doctor, lisa bardack announcing eight hours after hillary clinton left the 9/11 ceremony that clinton was diagnosed with pneumonia on friday. >> every time i think about trump, i get allergic. >> departing the ceremony early and showing the candidate nearly collapsing, as staffers helped her into her van. her feet seen here dragging

along the ground. reporters covering clinton were left hanging, no details about where she had gone or what happened, until a short statement later, saying clinton felt overheated during the event and traveled to her daughter's apartment a few miles away. she later emerged saying she was on the mend. >> are you feeling better? >> yes, thank you very much. >> greeting a young girl, before boarding her van and heading home. her doctor said she was put on antibiotics and told to modify her schedule. before attending 9/11's ceremony, her doctor said she became overheated and d dehydrated. her doctor writing in december 2012, mrs. clinton suffered a stomach virus after traveling and sustained a concussion. doctors later fining a blood clot, requiring blood thinning medication ha she still takes,

yesterday, and continuing to the beginning of the week. 75 degrees with bright sunshine in philadelphia. still not even the mid 70s across much of the rest of the area. delaware, 74 degrees, and there is not a cloud in the sky across much of the region. while 75 at philly international, 79 at graduate hospital, 76 at center city. tarsdale, 76. it of day, last week, we were talking about temperatures already around 90 degrees. you can see on the satellite and radar, there are clouds, but they're way out in the atlantic, and moving in the other direction. we have to go a long way to the west to find any kind of cloud cover, so we are dry. the problem is, we've been too dry for too long. so some people could really use some rain. but it is much more comfortable, and it is going to stay that way for a couple of days.

that's it. wednesday, the temperature starts going up. the humidity will not be up. that's just a one day thing. thursday, we're back to 79. dover may get to 79 as well, may not get to 80 degrees in allentown, wild wood, temperature goes up a bit wednesday, starts to go back down. so the week overall, is looking pretty comfortable. even with wednesday's temperature, it is not going to be that humid. well, the futurecast, we're looking for future clouds and rain. not seeing much. there we are tomorrow, maybe a cloud or two in the sky. but certainly no chance of rain. we have to wait for a front to come in from the west. the one that's going to end that one-day bit of hit, and look what happens to the showers. pretty much falls apart. there is a slight chance in lehigh valley or poconos on wednesday, but that's about it.

for tomorrow, there is no chance of rain. nothing but sunshine here, as you see. but you also see these low temperatures tonight. first thing tomorrow morning, little cool. 56 degrees, chestnut hill, 58 in langhorn. 55 in redding, 53 in easton. these are pretty low temperatures for this time of the year. robbinsville, 54. egg harbor city, 55. but right at the beach, long port, 65 degrees. we do see those differences with the forecast here in different neighborhoods. the next few days, there is the 90 degrees wednesday in philadelphia, not quite 90 in the pa suburbs and lehigh valley, still relatively low temperatures at night, and into the morning hours, and at the jersey shore, we barely get up into the mid 80s by the middle of the week. so we really have some nice

a south jersey auto body shop goes up in flames, sky 410 was over the scene. this morning, investigators are searching for a cause of the fire. nbc 10 monique braxton is live on the scene of the fire that reached two alarms. monique, it happened right in the middle of the morning rush hour. >> reporter: it did. you could see billowing smoke for miles, vai. right now, the second alarmers are here and serving the firefighters hydration, water, lunch, and you can see over my shoulder, northbound route 73 has reopened and most of the firefighter whose were investigated have since cleared the scene. take a look at what we saw about 6:00 this morning. michaels auto body engulfed, dozens of firefighters arriving to battle the blaze. neighbors tell us they saw what appeared to be an explosion, and fireballs in the back of the

auto body shop near the bay area where the cars are served. >> oh, yeah, you could see where it is coming across. it was tremendous, the smoke. bad, bad. very toxic. very, very toxic. you could smell plastics and rubber burning. >> reporter: now, that comment made me or led me to ask firefighters if at any point did they consider evacuating one of the neighborhoods that's close by. i was told no, they felt everyone was safe. and no one was evacuated or injured. live for now in cinnamonson, monique braxton, nbc 10 news. no shortage of sunshine and blue skies throughout the area. best of all, humidity is on the low side. live look right now at the jersey shore from our camera in cape may. lots of folks out there, getting the last few days in of summer.

nbc 10 first chief meteorologist, glenn "her kane" schwartz is here with the forecast. all the heat we went through last week, look how comfortable it is now. 75 in philadelphia. 76, south jersey. lehigh valley, cooler than that. we have places, not even up to 70 degrees yet. 69, allentown, 72, bethlehem, 73, and easton, 74 degrees. some of those places won't even hit the 80 degree mark today. even with bright sunshine. not a cloud in the sky any where in the area. certainly none approaching the area. so we can pretty much guarantee it is going to be nothing but sunshine in the next couple of days. now, the clear skies and the low humidity, that's going to allow the temperature to drop pretty quickly this evening. so we're into the 60s by 10:00

tonight, but getting into the low 60s in pa suburbs and lehigh valley by 10:00, and 65 in much of new jersey, you could see by morning, temperatures down into the upper 50s. we'll talk more about the heat returning, and our next chance for some actually much needed rain in just a few minutes. >> all right, thank you, glenn. syrian president assad says his government is going to reclaim every area from the terrorists. a cease-fire brokered by the u.s. and russia. here's more. >> reporter: it was supposed to be a landmark deal for syrian civilians, but signals are coming out of syria after a lethal weekend of bombings, and just hours ahead of a cease-fire scheduled to begin at sundown tonight. syrian president assad seemed to send a triumphant message, when he attended prayers just outside

damascus. just a few weeks ago, he forced the neighborhood to surrender, following a four year long siege. president assad released a statement saying they were going to take back all the land from the terrorists. syrian rebels already expressed grave doubts, since russia and u.s. signed late on friday night and now the deal looks impossibly more uncertain. the guns are supposed to be silent at sundown this evening, but they've killed nearly 100 people and wounding more than 100 more. now, russia, who negotiated the deal with the u.s., has been on the offensive as well, they're bombing in aleppo. forces jockeying for a better battleground position before a cease-fire begins, but it doesn't look good for the cease-fire. matt bradley, nbc news, london.

jury selection is underway in the retrial of the accused killer of a 6-year-old bon, pedro hernandez killed etan patz. after a relative tipped off police, he was arrested. hernandez imagined his guilt due to a mental disorder. college football facing charges after punching a ref in the middle of a game in california. it happened between mt. san antonio college. the ref went in to break up a fight and he took a swing at him. he was immediately ejected from the game and arrested on suspicious shun of battery. crazy eddie anton has died. here is a clip. >> crazy eddie, his prices are insane. >> that phrase, turned crazy

eddie's in brooklyn turned them into a retail giant. seen here, he fled the country in the early 1990s as being indicted on stock fraud charges and was convicted in a racketeering case that was overturned on appeal. he pleaded guilty to other charges and served seven years in prison. he died saturday and was 68 years old. cycling through the area as part of the ride to recovery, the trip began in arlington, virginia, yesterday on the 15th anniversary of 9/11. today, the veterans on cycles will travel from york, pennsylvania, following a tour of new jersey tomorrow, they'll finish wednesday at the 9/11 in new york. samsung is warning consumers to stop using the galaxy 7 immediately and exchange them. this comes as more reports

emerge as the phones catching fire. they issued a global recall of the device. samsung's moves urging users to turn the phone off or do not charge it during flights. late friday, the consumer product safety commission said they should turn the device off and leave it off. samsung's stock took a major hit, wifing out $14 billion in market value. retirement isn't as relaxing as it used to be. a pugh research report found nearly 65 to 75 year-olds are still working, putting off full-time retirement. another found seven in ten americans plan to keep working in retirement, because they have to, but some, because they want to. so they have something do everyday. millennials are buying fewer homes, and members of other generations. a study shows that home

ownership rates have fallen across all age groups for the past seven years, and the biggest drop continues to be the millennial generation, with mortgages harder to get, since the housing collapse in 2009. the home ownership rate is just 39%. the winner of july's $487 million powerball jackpot has chosen to remain annoy mooa. the winner opted for a one time cash payout of more than $256 million. several charities getting donations from the powerball winner, posed with checks at a news conference this morning. the winner is donating $100,000 to new hampshire nonprofits. it was sold at a super market back on july 30th. here she is. the new miss america showing off her crown today.

roll marathon, where we get to bring awareness and raise critical funds for cancer research. so it is a really great opportunity to educate the public and all of our runners about who we are and what we're going to do and to let them know that every dollar they donate to acr and runners goes to live saving cancer research. >> something, tell us what's in store for the runners. there is a change to the course this year. >> right. they modified it just a bit from last year. for the most part, they'll be going up kelly drive but also take a turn down fairmount as well. >> tonya, you just finished up treatment for your cancer. tell us how you're doing and why you decided to run. >> i'm doing great. i'm here, which is what counts. i decided to become a runner for research because research saves lives. when i detected the lump in my breast back in november, you know, and then i was diagnosed, i and my family thought, you know, first thing would be going to get the surgery and then we

progress from there. well, my treatment plan is evidence that research saves lives because my treatment plan was different. my treatment plan was 16 rounds of chemo followed by surgery and 33 daily treatments of radiation. that's completely different than, now, if a woman had been diagnosed 20 years ago. so that treatment plan is what enabled me to be here today. >> joining you now or meeting for the first time, tonya and i are friends. we go back some years. i see her at events, and she was pregnant and her kids are now 18 and 16. you probably don't want me to say that. it's just amazing. i'm so glad to see how good you're doing and how good you look. >> thanks. >> and running a half marathon. >> first time ever. so you know. >> have you been training? >> yes. i'm sitting so still right now. >> well, i'm sure the kids keep you on your toes.

lumberton, 78. pemberton, 77. well, we've returned to the comfort here. that is quite a change, after three days in a row of 95. we tied, set records, and then yesterday, 85 for the high, with lowering humidity during the day. 82 degrees today. and the dry september continues. so take a look at the next five days. philadelphia, lehigh valley, obviously dry today and tomorrow. but even wednesday, when a cold front is approaching, it may not be enough moisture in the air to produce any showers or storms, and then we get drier and cooler air toward the end of the week. we have dry air all over the east right now. new tropical storm that just formed within the last hour that's ian, way, way out in the

middle of the ocean, and it is likely to stay way out in the middle of the ocean. this is bermuda. so it's way east of bermuda, it's what we call a fish storm, not going to bother anybody but the fish. now the jersey shore, 76 degrees today, 78 tuesday, the one day getting into the 80s is wednesday. and then we're back into the mid 70s. and the ten-day forecast, philadelphia up to 90 on wednesday, perhaps even a little bit above that, but the humidity is still going to be relatively low. nowhere near the humidity we saw late last week or on saturday. then the temperature goes back down. high of only 78 on thursday, with very low humidity. friday, 80, with low humidity, then the humidity starts to come up, as we head toward the weekend, and we do have at least some chances of showers or
