firefighters killed in the line of duty in wilmington. today fellow firefighters lined up to honor their fallen colleagues. meanwhile state and federal investigators are back at work on the scene of the deadly row home fire, trying to figure out how the fire started early saturday morning. skyforce 10 over the home just a few hours ago. four firefighters were trapped when the floor collapsed. incom nbc 10's monique braxton is live with more. this is a tough day for the firefighting community and first responders. >> reporter: that's right, vai. a solemn show of support as they begin the painful process of saying goodbye to a fallen colleague. the families of the firefighters stand at attention as the coffin of christopher leach is driven on an hearse. we saw hugs and tears as these

public servants grieved for their fallen brothers. they're saluted after both died when the floor collapsed while they were battling a blaze early saturday morning. a family of six escaped intense flames. the firefighters didn't know it. two of their colleagues are in critical but stable condition. two others were treated for their injuries and released. now, days of final tribute are officially under way as two funerals and burials approach. just moments ago i did talk to the fire chief. he told us he's planning an afternoon press conference to discuss the latest on the investigation into the cause of the fire and hopefully funeral details. live for now in wilmington, monique braxton, nbc 10 news. monique, thank you.

the head of the abington police department is praising his officers for saving the life of a suicidal man at risk of their own. the man's family called police to warn them that he was going to kill himself and had a gun. abington police spotted him and tried to talk him into going home. he waved his begun around, asking police to shoot him. the gun went off five times as police struggled with him. an officer hurt his shoulder in the struggle and the man went to the hospital. >> announcer: now your nbc 10 first alert weather. a cool start to the day, definitely feeling like fall as we take a look center city, philadelphia, flags flapping there in the wind. nbc 10 meteorologist krystal klei is here with the forecast. >> good morning, vai. temperature-wise, the afternoon will be very similar to yesterday's, feels like fall out there. 69 in philadelphia. 64 in allentown, 68 in

police in houston say a lawyer is responsible for a mass shooting at a strip mall at 6:30 this morning. witnesses say the suspect fired dozens of shots at cars in the neighborhood before police arrived. he fired at police and they opened fire and killed him. investigators say he was having trouble with the law. nine people were wounded, two

with serious injuries. the sports world is remembering an iconic figure. arou arnold palmer revolutionized the game of golf. he died due to complications from heart problems. he was 87 years old. nbc 10 national correspondent curt gregory takes a look back at his life. >> reporter: arnold palmer grew up the son of a greens keeper in latrobe, pennsylvania. his good looks and powerful, unorthodox swing made him a golf super star. fans came in droves and came to be known as arnie's army. many who couldn't watch him in person did so in their living rooms in the 1950s and '60s. palmer helped make golf the tv sport it is today. his popularity grew. companies wanted arnie pitching their products. >> arnie, they said, you'll like it, the tractor will like it.

worried about your commute home from work, things are going to be okay. chances of rain will start to win in. as we move overnight, 9, 10:00, creeping in west of us over the lehigh valley. overnight and early a.m. hours, through philadelphia and into new jersey, we see the potential for rain. in fact let's look at the hour by hour forecast here. temperature-wise, we'll start to see a drop-off. we'll peak in the mid-70s at 4:00 p.m. we'll see more clouds building into the night, tahead of the front, we'll see thicker cloud coverage. lehigh valley and suburbs, we might see rain picking up by 10:00, 65 in the suburbs, 63 in the lehigh valley with highs in the low to mid-70s. delaware could see spot areas of rain in the northern part of delaware, moving to 10:00. areas of new jersey and the shore not going to see that rain until the early a.m. hours or morning hours more so of your tuesday, because it's that delay going from west to east.

temperature-wise, you see all of us are dropping down right to their own 70 degrees by the commute home at 6:00. looking ahead, looking like a rainy week. your monday through friday, tonight into tuesday, we pick up that chance. wednesday later in the day, it will start to bump back up. then we continue thursday and friday with chances of rain in philadelphia. also looking at dover with that possibility, not quite as great thursday into friday. reading, good, steady chances. atlantic city area, same thing. we're tracking what appears to be a wetter forecast than we've seen for almost all of september. remember, up until now we haven't seen many rain dates. as for your temperatures, we're at 75 degrees, the forecast high today in center city. through your afternoon, that sun/cloud mix as you just saw. suburbs, around 70, westchester,

doyle to doylestown, 74. in new jersey, the jersey shore, more sunshine than clouds expected. 71 degrees ocean township. there's a look at your ten-day on 10, first seven days for you. the chance of rain begins on your tuesday, early in the day. early commute, grab the umbrella as you head out the door. lower 70s for you on thursday. friday, a bit of a dip in your temperatures with that chance of rain continuing through saturday. still clouds sunday into your next workweek where we see temperatures rebounding through the 70s.
