no one hurt in this school bus accident. we were over the scene in oaklyn county. the bus appeared to have struck a pole but no one was taken to the hospital. authorities will file charges against the father of benjamin smith. the child died after a gun went off inside his home. the district attorney's office announced today they expected a charge. he is charged with child endangerment and wreckless endangerment. and rain is heading our way. some could be heavy. we give you a live look at the radar. the system to the south is heading here in our direction. we are here with our forecast. hi. >> hi. this is just the beginning of a pretty wet period.

that's why we issued a first alert for just a portion of our area so far. chester county and all of the state of delaware from this afternoon through friday. heavy rain and localized flash flooding. the first area of rain, as you can see moved up from maryland into delaware. that is moving towards new jersey just before noon. just before 1:00 winslow at about 1:35. it does look like it's going to track south of philadelphia at least the heavier portion of the rain. lighter rain coming up towards wilmington. this is the heavy stuff. the heaviest in the orange here over an inch per hour. in the yellow it is about a quarter inch per hour. in the green it's only 2.200 of

an inch per hour. how much rain we get into tomorrow morning, we are talking about close to a half average around the philadelphia area and way over an inch in delaware and chester counties. this is why we have the first alert out for the western portions of our area. by friday at 8:00 a.m. we are talking about significant rain covering a good bit of our area. for later today i expect showers in the philadelphia area. temperatures only in the 60s and a wet night ahead. same thing for the pa suburbs. temperatures holding into the mid-60s. lehigh valley may be the last to get the rain but it should be raining there tonight as well. the best chance of showers and thunderstorms at the jersey shore and also parts of south jersey. we'll talk about when the heaviest rain is coming in just a few minutes.

>> thank you. wilmington will review two firefighters killed in the line of duty. their funerals are on friday. a public memorial will happen at 1:00 on the river front. yesterday firefighters gathered in wilmington to prepare for friday's funeral mass. he died last saturday morning when the floor collapsed under his feet and he was trapped in a basement. firefighters jerry fickes died when he went in looking for christopher leach. the public viewing for jerry fickes will be held friday afternoon at grace lutheran

church. two firefighters are recovering from burns. brad is in stable conditions. the pennsylvania department of environmental detection is investigating the system upgrade at the cost of about $80 million. homeowners would have to pay for part of the upgrade of pipes that run between their homes and sewer system. a large crowd expected at tonight's meeting. it will be held at the high school. time now for a check on the roads for francesca ruscio . what are you seeing? >> earlier traffic was sort of bumper to bumper and slow go. this is right on 24th street. it will take you around three

parts of our area are having a decent day. other parts of the area are getting drenched especially in delaware. this came over from maryland earlier. that will move into new jersey but there is more. back by washington it will be coming up towards the philadelphia area and our western suburbs later on. so this is just the first piece of moisture. you can see it covers a good bit of delaware. southern new castle county all the way down it is moving generally towards the east, northeast. at the current rate of speed it would hit bridgeton about 11:50. that's the heaviest part of the rain. there will be light rain that comes in earlier. we have a first alert out for the heavy rain where it will be the heaviest at chester county, burkes county and all of

delaware for this afternoon through friday. we expect periods of heavy rain, localized flash flooding as a result. we have a little bit of rain in philadelphia now. the camera has rain drops. this is on the northern edge. it will help keep the temperature down a little bit even farther down in delaware. in lehigh valley getting a decent amount of sunshine. so we are talking about a different type of day depending where you are. we'll find this first area moving into new jersey and weakening. we have more coming up from washington. that is really the beginning of some of this heavy stuff. you can see the philadelphia area getting much more than we are getting today. you can see the worst of the weather right behind me from harrisburg down to washington. there will be more back to the

west. look what happens by tomorrow morning's rush. we are talking about heavy rain and thunderstorms and delaware and parts of south jersey. we may have to expand deup and downing on how far east some of that heavy rain is coming. this model keeps it wet by tomorrow afternoon. more rain areas even coming into thursday night and friday. this is a really wet pattern and an east wind keeping the temperature down. how much rainfall, not that much by tonight overall except for delaware and extreme south jersey. by thursday morning we are starting to get over an inch, over 2 inches in dover. this is why we had the first alert out. some places will get a lot more rain than others. by friday much of the area, we are talking about over

out for all of the state of delaware. later on tonight and tomorrow we are talking about chester county and burkes county g-- berks cou getting the heaviest. heavy rain with localized flash flooding. as we take a look at the radar and satellite you can see it is concentrated in delaware and into south jersey. some of this rain is really on the heavy side. we are not seeing much in the way of lightning but we are seeing heavy rain down to rising sun. it's not moving very fast. that's why they are getting problems with this across that portion of the state. far as the amounts of rain i showed you a couple of different computer models. this is by 6:00 a.m. some fairly

pennsylvania later on. you can see the heaviest rain continues in the dover area and delaware. a couple of lightning bolts in southern delaware but not much. this area is generally shrinking. that's a sign of weakening. the heavier portion should reach about 12:40. if it holds together by about 2:00. now, we have already had pretty significant rain. about an inch and a half estimated by doppler radar. near dover over an inch. wilmington has had practically nothing. that's with the first batch. there is going to be more and there's going to be heavier rain and moving into deser andberks
