gusty winds are making it feel raw and nasty out there. we'll give you a look at philadelphia with flags whipping in the wind. rainy windy weather knocked a tree branch onto a house. there is no word on whether anyone there got hurt. the big question this morning, will the weekend be a wash out? we have the answers and our forecast with erica. >> we do have an unsettled weekend in the forecast. we are seeing breaks in the showers and clouds. so we do have heavy, steady downpours through this evening. so mainly coastal flooding

concerns. why is this happening? why is this rain so stubborn and not moving offshore? we have a low pressure system to the south and to the west keeping everything right in place. we are seeing greens moving towards the northwest there but we do have showers on the way. a little bit cooler for today. temperatures will not be as warm. we are seeing mainly 50s. right now lots of clouds, 55 degrees. by 7:00 p.m. upper 50s and keeping it in the upper 50s by 10:00 p.m. at the bottom of your screen you will see your local neighborhood. we will break down how much rainfall many of us have seen so far, more to the south and less to the north. we'll also time out what to expect for the rest of the weekend. those winds are starting to pick up. i do have your forecast in just a bit. back to you. >> all right. we'll see you then. use your app to stay on top of

the weather. track the rain with the interactive radar. the wet weather is also having an impact on area roads. let's get an update with francesca ruscio . you're dealing with a disabled vehicle there? >> we are watching a disabled vehicle near ben franklin bridge. it has been a trend all morning long. it is here in pa as well as over new jersey. you can see the disabled vehicle with the tow truck right behind the police vehicle. it is between both lanes and traffic is not really effecting it. good news for our commuters. traffic is moving right now over new jersey. it's always good news for new jersey. let's take a look one last time. we have been seeing a couple of accidents. nothing too major.

longer line to get in for the viewing and funeral. leach's casket was brought here on the back of a fire truck. his son doing the best to keep it together, carrying his dad's helmet inside. people might stifickes died whe in to find leach. two others remain in the burn center. yesterday a woman who lived in that house was charged with setting the fire that killed and injured these firefighters. i can tell you we already have police officer, emt's from all over the united states paying their respects. nbc 10 is streaming the funeral. they want today make sure the firefighters in the hospital could see the funeral. we are happy to make that happen. you can see the crowd here.

get to most of the wreckage. they are hoping that the black box recorder will give some detail as to how fast the commuter train was going. they say they will be looking at surveillance video from the station on board the train, anything that can offer more information as to why that happened. there will be interviews with passengers, witnesses and crew members. ntsb spoke about what will happen next with regard to the train's engineer. >> we have not spoken to him yet and we hope to. we have a very methodical way that we speak to anyone involved in an accident. we'll get as much information as we can. >> the one death as a result of the crash, 34-year-old, as you can see, she was standing on the

platform. she was killed by falling debris. it is preventing workers from getting to most of the wreckage they expect to be there for a week or more. nbc 10 news. >> thank you. the national transportation safety board will be looking at whether positive train control could have prevented a deadly crash in hoboken. it shows ptc is now fully active on amtrak's northeast corridor. new jersey transit's most recent filings showed no track segments, the safety city is designed to prevent accidents by automatically slowing or stopping trains that go too fast. we have continuing coverage of the train crash.

witnesses told the police that the gunman jumped into a white car. officers found that car a block away and took two people into custody. happening today an agreement that agrees uber x will expire. it is because of the number of trains taken out of service in july to make emergency repairs. both companies reportedly say they will continue operating with or without state and legislative approval. >> today marks the last weekday of the septa slow down. it will resume nearly three months after it began. they pulled more than 100

martin. we are seeing steady downpours through the afternoon hours for delaware, new jersey and the metro area. in fact a stalled frontal boundary, we'll keep showers off and on throughout the weekend. we can expect widespread flooding concerns as well. if you look to the bottom of the screen so here is your flood threat. upper delaware until 2:00 p.m. and coastal flood advisories for the shore until noon. considering we do have the heavier downpours it's something to keep in mind. so far just over 7 inches. over 4 inches for cape may. farther north notice that we are seeing lower numbers. of philadelphia about an inch and a half rainfall total. we do have steadier downpours through the afternoon and

evening hours. finally seeing a break by tomorrow. wilmington just under 3 inches for you. another issue that we do have, current wind pattern. we are getting this on shore flow. wind speeds ranging between 8, 10 to 20 miles per hour. these are sustained wind speeds in allentown. so increasing wind gusts could top out at about 35 to 40 miles per hour. a look at your weekend forecast. saturday we are still seeing plenty of clouds in the forecast and showers off and on. this is a break it in the clouds and showers on sunday. it looks like sunday would be the pick of the weekend with temperatures topping out mainly in the 60s and 70s. right now because of cloud coverage we are seeing much cooler temperatures.

investigators have recovered the black box from the train crash in new jersey. one person died and more than 100 others were injured when the train slammed into the station. we have new details from hoboken. >> the national transportation safety board sifting through all of the evidence. they confirmed they removed the black box. having trouble getting to some of the other cars on the train, the structure, the terminal is not safe. they will have crews that pull away and hope to get into the cars a bit later in the day here. they are also hoping they can take a look at some video that may have been recorded of the accident. >> all of that along with interviews of the crew and other people will be making sure we get the most fact chual

place. the man heard scratching outside his home earlier this week. when he went outside we discovered a dog on the top of his roof. he doesn't know how the pooch got up there but says he could have used the grill as a launching pad. you can see the roof there is rather low. animal care and control were able to get the dog from the roof and put the dog up for adoption if no one claims him in the next three days. and vai, we are tracking the threat of flooding. more heavy downpours for the rest of today into this weekend. when will we finally see a break? it looks like sunday does look better. i have more information coming up in my full forecast.

three years ago. my son in 2011 was sick with a pituitary tumor. we ended up traveling for his care. he is just uniquely ill. we ended up looking for surgeons around the country and found ourselves in a unique situation where we were able to cover our expenses for travel. i learned that a lot of these travel expenses are not covered and started to, you know, just kind of in celebration of his good health. we started it just to help other families that may not have had the privilege that i had. >> it sounds to me a lot like what the ronald mcdonald house does. you occupy some of the same space and are there differences?

>> i would say over the last three years we provided more than 1,500 nights of lodging traveling to and from the philadelphia region for care. the partner with them, we work with them. it's really about making sure that no families fall through the cracks. the ronald mcdonald house is very thin. they need to turn families away. for families it hasn't been the best fit. we work to make sure that we are helping families that really are in a situation where they need a place to stay and don't have the ronald mcdonald house or other resours. resources. >> you're not in competition here. you work together with the ronald mcdonald house. oftentimes your situation, your services are much better suited for some families.

we have widespread floods across the area. if you look at the bottom of your screen we will see your local neighborhood forecast. here you can see it until 3:00 p.m. today. notice the coastal flood advisory until the jersey shoreline. so far doppler estimated rainfall totals very impressive. milford just under 10 inches and we are not done yet even though we are seeing a break in the showers we still have more on the way. farther north we are seeing lower numbers, not as impressive but still nuisance weather for this evening commute. i do expect more showers to return. philadelphia over an inch of rain for you. it looks like atlantic city just under 2 inches of rain. so the weekend forecast looks a little better by sunday.
