not physically injured. there is some question about the kanye concert in philly. as soon as word got to conyeaka performing in new york sunday night, he abruptly ended his concert, telling fans there was an family emergency. fans here, although sympathetic to the kardashian west family saga, are concerned he may not show up here at wells fargo tomorrow night. >> would it be the right thing to cancel his show? for his wife, yes. but for the fans, no. i'm pretty sure the tickets were priced pretty high. >> now that i know, ion going to buy a ticket, i don't want to chance it. it's a waste of money now. >> reporter: we were just inside the box office a few minutes ago. some fans still purchasing those tickets. i'm told there are limited seats left in the arena. i've been monitoring both kanye

and kim's twitter accounts. we're also putting in calls to live nation, kanye's promoter, to see if anything might change. chelseay at the wells fargo center says if anything changes, they will immediately notify us. they will also put it out on their twitter account. i'm cydney long, nbc 10 news. >> cydney, thank you. 20 minutes of nonstop news continues now with a developing story. today, dozens of police officers searching a backyard in the poconos all in connection with a lehigh valley woman who disappeared three years ago. skyforce 10 over the scene in ross township this afternoon. holly grim disappeared back in 2013. and now investigators are narrowing their search on the home of one of her former co-workers. nbc 10's mitch blacher is live in the news center with more. >> mitch, what have police uncovered? >> reporter: guys, this is a fast developing story. investigators have a search warrant to focus on a property

in monroe county. holly grim's mother tells us she has been told by investigators that this does have to do with her daughter's disappears. skyforce 10 hovers as state police dig holes waist-deep. behind the trees you can see the red excavator used to unearth the clues they now sort through. they wear gloves as they inspect the soil. it's a crime scene in action, linked to a case three years cold. court records show the property tied to one of holly grim's co-workers. the last time anyone saw grim was 2013. we watched as state and local investigators continue that search today. now, during the initial investigates, investigators interviewed more than a hundred people, including the owner of the home they're now investigating. we have a team gathering information in ross township,

grim's mother coming up live at 5:00 and 6:00. live in the breaking news center, mitch blacher, nbc 10 news. thousands are bracing for disaster as hurricane matthew bears down on several island nations in the caribbean. >> this category 4 storm is approaching haiti and jamaica right now. satellite images show just how big the storm has become. you can see it moving slowly as it nears the islands. flash flooding has already begun in parts of haiti. jamaica and cuba are facing similar conditions and many people in the area are now making a run as the hurricane inches closer. the u.s. has begun making preparations to evacuate people from the naval base in guantanamo bay. the storm has already skilled two people. nbc 10 first alert meteorologist sheena parveen is tracking hurricane matthew. >> sheena, what are we up against here and how might it affect us? >> we're still pretty far down

the road. our local weather would be more of a time frame of this upcoming weekend. it's too far out to tell exactly where it's going to head at that particular point in time. right now we're looking down in the caribbean. matthew a very well-organized category 4 hurricane. it's approaching jamaica, there's hispaniola, there's cuba, then it heads towards the bahamas. the red shaded areas are warnings for these parts of the caribbean. they're expecting high winds. sustained winds 140 miles an hour sustained winds, that's a category four hurricane. it's moving to the north at six miles per hour, on average a relatively slow movement. this storm has in fact slowed down quite a bit. the timing of it has been pushed back from what we saw last week. wednesday, 8:00 a.m., it's just getting into the bahamas and it's a pretty sure bet it will

continue on a northerly track. it could be a category 3 hurricane by that time, either way still a major hurricane. we'll be watching for it potentially along the southeastern coast of the united states. you notice that cone as we go farther out in time, it's just barely skimming the east coast of florida, also barely skimming now the carolinas. we'll have to watch this very closely. we'll be watching for any turn out to sea by saturday morning, potentially a category 2 hurricane. as you go farther out in time, it gets wider. we'll keep you updated into the weekend. more updates on this to come. while the hurricane spins in the caribbean, it was a gloomy start to the workweek here at home. nbc 10 in wallingford county. let's look at cape may, a live picture, look at that. some people out there enjoying some of the conditions, as much as there is to enjoy.

76 degrees in some parts there. >> you had the sun trying to peek out there. let's go back to sheena to find out what to expect for the rest of the day. >> today is a didn't even day, temperatures have warmed into the mid-70s, 77 in wilmington. still cool-like spots out there. allentown, 71. coatsville, 70. atlantic city, at least at the parent, temperatures are in the upper 60s. we'll get cooler through the next few days. you can see that with your seven-day forecast, scrolling at the bottom of the screen. for the philadelphia area right now, a live look at center city. we have just about partly cloudy skies. here is a bit of a difference from what we saw earlier today, all the fog, all the cloud cover, but now we're seeing some breaks in this. philadelphia sitting in the mid-70s. as we go into the evening, still very comfortable. 72 degrees by 6:00 p.m. by 9:00 p.m. tonight, temperatures in the mid-60s. a cool start into tomorrow

morning. the radar and satellite, there's not much in the way of rain. some sprinkles near the poconos into the lehigh valley. some very light showers trying to make their way towards the allentown area. that's really about it. even tomorrow we'll keep the clouds in the forecast. but the rain chance is going to be fairly low. we may see a couple of stray showers similar to what we're seeing right now through the lehigh valley. temperatures will be cooler as we go through the afternoon. coming up, we'll take a look at that cool fall-like forecast and more updates on hurricane matthew, straight ahead. now to decision 2016. donald trump trying to put a bad week behind him. >> today the week started off bad for his foundation. this afternoon, the new york attorney general ordered trump's foundation to stop fundraising in the state. the office says the foundation doesn't have the proper certification and it did not submit routine audits. the foundation must also send any delinquent financial reports to the ag's office within 15 days. today trump campaigned in

virginia, meeting with a veterans group. he told them he plans to beef up cybersecurity in the u.s., saying it's under constant attack from foreign postewers. he told his audience of retired vets he would work to end political correctness in the military. >> everyone goes, profiling, profiling. in israel they're doing it and doing it well. we may have to do that. >> trump repeatedly linked cybersecurity threats to hillary clinton's use of a private e-mail server. today trump had to once again defend his treatment of women. some former crew members of trump's reality show "the apprentice" which aired on nbc say he rated female contestants based on their breast size. 20 show employees says trumped talked about which ones he would like to have sex with and which ones he wanted to wear shorter

dresses and showed more cleavage. the trump campaign said they were disgruntled employees. his rival hillary clinton is exchan campaigning in ohio. she said there should be a law forcing candidates to release their tax returns. >> he calls our military a disaster. it's not, but it might have been if everybody else had failed to pay taxes to support our great men and women in uniform. >> clinton says trump's proposed tax plan would cut his taxes even more while raising taxes for the middle class. this morning's clinton's national campaign manager told us no one should be surprised by the fact that trump may not have paid federal income taxes, calling the tax code rigged in favor of the wealthy. >> the tax plan he introduced cut taxes for millionaires and billionaires. it allows more of these tricks,

these accounting tricks, for the top 1, 2% of our country. >> he says clinton will cut taxes for the middle class. she'll campaign in haverford township tomorrow along with her daughter chelsea and actress liz banks. after ted danson stopped in westchester today, stumping for hillary clinton, he met donors on market street to discuss the election and talk about climate change. just a little more than 24 hours before the two vice presidential come nienominees go head for the only time before the election, five weeks before voters head to the polls. nbc 10's lauren mayk is live in farmville, virginia, where the campus is preparing for the big day tomorrow. a huge opportunity, lauren, for both parties. >> reporter: absolutely, keith. and, you know, this campus started preparing for this

debate long before either of these vice presidential candidates were even chosen. the president of this university teaches a class on the american presidency. that's where the idea of hosting this came about. they are calling this the vp jubilee. take a look over here. we've got a stage set up where they have musical acts, and later tonight, second city from chicago will be performing. i bet we may hear about some politics then. and come on over here, loam show you what's going on over here. they have food, they have games, and a lot of these students are getting in on this as well. you'll see the ones in yellow t-shirts, hundreds of students are volunteering, they've been helping us get around campus. some of these students will be lucky enough to be inside the debate hall for that vp debate tomorrow night. i got a chance to see inside. let me show you what it looks like. this hall, the first thing you'll notice is it's a lot

complete breakdown of the debate on nbc 10 news at 11:00 p.m. a welcome sight for septa riders today, the transit agency resumed a normal schedule today. for three months a third of the rail cars were sidelined because of a suspension problem. today's schedule change means about 200 more train trips a day across septa's 13 regional rail lines. more than a hundred train cars were taken off the track at the start of the summer for repairs. there were cracks in the beams that distribute the weight of the cars to their axles. >> first it was a little slow. i think everyone adjusted, commuters adjusted, obviously septa was able to adjust a bit, and made a tough situation not so bad in the end. >> septa tells us it hopes to return 14 of the repaired cars until november until all of them a report says new jersey transit's officials were aware of violations on their safety

record. a u.s. official says dozens of violations were found during an audit. meanwhile, the ntsb says the engineer who was at the controls at the time of the crash told them he, quote, has no memory of the accident. one person was killed. 114 others were injured during last thursday's crash. investigators say they recovered one of the event recorders. it was not operationally. the black box remains in the control car which is not yet accessible because of dangerous debris. nbc 10 has two updates about a flood of threats made on social media that have had many parents, children, and school authorities worried for over a week now. nbc 10 has not mentioned the post on television before now because we don't want to put a spotlight on the spread of rumors. but today philadelphia police tell us a 13-year-old girl admitted she and a friend made some of the posts as a prank, a prank that threatened attacks by clowns at some schools in our area. police are sending the case to the district attorney's office

to see if criminal charges will be filed. the philadelphia archdiocese sent a message to parents today saying, while it takes the threat seriously, classes will continue as scheduled and told parents neither they for their children should respond to the social media posts. no student has been armharmed. an accident in upper darby this morning, an 80-year-old woman was struck and killed as she crossed the street near the 69th street terminal. police say the driver stopped and that there are no charges expected to be filed in the case. a tech company in bethlehem is getting a $1.5 million grant from pennsylvania. governor tom wolf made the announcement today. the money will help build a 14,000 square feet expansion to the company. the tech venture west wing will help provide support to

companies that retain family-supporting jobs. a jolly trolley crash happened in dewy beach on saturday. the trolley began to sway, then fall to its side. several people were injured. police continue to investigate. the philadelphia police department is going green. today they unveiled the city's first plug-in police cars and charging station. the mayor was on hand for today's announcement. the first of four ford fusion hybrids is ready to be put into service as a community relations vehicle. they say by january they'll have 17 plug-in vehicles in use. the u.s. sect secretary of paid a visit to delaware today. thomas perez toured steel manufacturer rc fabricators in wilmington. they held a roundtable discussion on how skill training

programs can strengthen the workforce and economic development. since 2014, the u.s. has added 75,000 new manufacturing apprenticeships. in other news, today millions of people across the world are celebrating the jewish new year. rosh hashanah began last night. [ horn blowing ] hundreds took part in services today. it's one of the holiest days of the year in the jewish religion. the holiday is meant to be a time of personal reflection and prayer. rosh hashanah ends tomorrow evening. a pennsylvania woman is bringing awareness to breast cancer awareness month by walking from philadelphia to the capital in harrisburg. helen michener kicked off her walk today at the liberty bell. she plans to make the 104-mile trek in seven days. a three-year breast cancer survivor, michener believes that

early detection saved her life. >> so i thought well, i'll do this challenge, a walk from philadelphia to harrisburg, and at the same time hope reply bring awareness. >> she hopes to bring attention to the pennsylvania breast cancer coalition who supported her during her treatment. >> announcer: now your nbc 10 first alert weather. well, a nice fall-like day today. we started with the fog this morning. and the clouds hung around for a while. now we're seeing breaks in the cloud cover. plenty of sunshine in the philadelphia area right now. a live look at the ben franklin bridge. we are mostly dry across the area. and we have cooler temperatures that will be moving in. so if you see your seven-day at the bottom of the clean, the next couple of days will be quieter than where we're sitting right now. 72 in south jersey neighborhoods. closer to the shore, upper 60s, still looking at cloud cover. our pennsylvania suburbs, the temperatures here in our

neighborhoods, west bradford township 72 degrees. if you're in bryn mawr, 75 degrees. comfortable. but tomorrow will be cooler in the afternoon. 72 north wales, 73 degrees right now in ft. washington. the radar not very impressive. we have a few showers trying to move into the poconos and the lehigh valley. most of the area is dry. just some very widespread scattered showers across of of the northeast. we'll zoom into the lehigh valley, the green showing you the much lighter rainfall. some of that trying to move into the allentown area. it's not going to be a big deal as it moves through, and for parts of the poconos as well, you might see brief showers move by. most of the area will be on the dry side. tomorrow will be mostly cloudy. we could have a couple of showers, chances will be low. don't be surprised if you see an isolated passing shower. for the most part, mostly

cloudy. tomorrow, upper 60s in many neighborhoods. schwenksville, 77, reading around 70. avalon, 67. dover coming in right around 69 degrees. here's a look at future weather. clouds will hang around overnight and into tomorrow. there you see tomorrow afternoon. this is 12:30, mostly cloudy. can't rule out a couple of isolated showers. i don't think it's going to be a big deal. then we go into wednesday, just about mostly to partly cloudy, staying dry. thursday we'll stay dry too, several dry days. then our attention turns to away south of us. by noon thursday, we're looking at hurricane matthews over the bahamas, potentially. we'll be watching this storm very closely, a category 4 hurricane, 140 miles an hour sustained winds. by thursday, possibly still a major hurricane. then we go into the weekend.

july, the cameras on the outside corner of this wire and packaging business captured a shooting that happened on this block. in richmond, 19 businesses have received grants to small cameras. but when the nbc 10 investigators mapped locations citywide, we discovered gaps. zip code 19147, just southeast of center city, has by far the most cameras, 39 of them, double the next zip code. it's followed by port richmond, strawberry manages, manayunk and fishtown. but neighborhoods in the northeast, northwest, and higher crime west and southwest philadelphia, have far fewer, and sometimes none at all. the city's most dangerous neighborhood, zip code 19133, has just one participant. security is a concern for you? >> of course. >> reporter: he owns two wireless telephone stores, one in west philly and one in

southwest, the zip code where there's not a single participant in the program. neither of his shops have exterior cameras. you did not even know of this program? >> i mean, i never heard about this program before. >> reporter: is that a problem from the city's perspective? >> we're aware of what the usage is. that's something that we actually recently mapped that. that's part of what we'll be doing, especially with our multilingual staff. >> reporter: murphy tells us those language ambassadors will be deployed to areas where use is low, need is high, and english is often not a first language. he admits even half price cameras may be too costly for many owners. the city will concentrate on underrepresented zones, hoping word of mouth advertising will work as it did in liberty's area. >> one guy was walking up and down, saying, listen, hop on board.

leeotis mckelvin is returning after a hamstring injury if all goes well this week, he'll be playing in detroit. >> announcer: now your nbc 10 first alert weather. well, today a pretty nice day. comfortable this afternoon. sunshine developing across the area right now. as we go into tomorrow and wednesday, we're actually going to have some cooler temperatures this week. take a look at this seven-day scrolling at the bottom of the your screen, we have 60s for daytime highs over the next couple of days. that will feel a lot more like fall. we will at the same time be fairly dry across the area. could see an isolated shower or two tomorrow. but for the most part we have several dry days ahead basically through the rest of the week, with the exception of those few showers. possibly tomorrow, not going to be a big deal. we'll be watching hurricane matthew. currently matthew is a category 4, impacting jamaica and haiti

county, even parts of the poconos, 78 near cutstown. maybe a few more isolated showers for the most part, most of the area stays dry this evening and into tomorrow afternoon, clouds will hang around. there's a chance for a couple of isolated showers at best. wednesday afternoon we'll be mostly dry, partly cloudy to mostly cloudy in some areas. then by thursday, we're still going to continue with that dry stretch. by thursday afternoon, we're also going to be looking way to the south, a very slow moving hurricane could be right over the bahamas. could be a major hurricane still. we'll be watching for any interaction with land. right now, hurricane matthew is just to the south of jamaica. there's jamaica, then we have hispaniola here. cuba will be next. then the bahamas as it travels to the north, max winds 140 miles per hour, moving fairly

slowly north at seven miles per hour. the updated track from the national hurricane center, normally it comes out at 5:00. this is the most updated. by thursday afternoon, could be category 3 hurricane over the bahamas. the track has in fact shifted just a little bit farther to the west. we'll be watching it by this weekend. could be moving on to maybe south or north carolina. again, this is very far out in time. so this could very well be changing as we get closer, as many tropical systems do. looked at spthe spaghetti modela combination of the many computer models that we use. that spread for those computer models is about an 800 d-mile spread from west to east. we'll be watching it closely to see if another weather system hopefully pushes it out to sea. those details to come. >> thank you, sheena, we'll be
