casino to close in atlantic city recently. we've also learned as many as 11,000 people have lost their jobs since 2014. nbc 10 news. >> thank you. a woman was killed in a crash this morning on route 70. sky force 10 over the crash that closed the westbound lanes earlier this morning before 7:00 this morning. a woman was trying to cross route 70 near route 73. the driver hasn't been charged and is cooperating with police. the road is closed. this morning, police are investigating a possible ab duchovny in north philadelphia. a witness told police he saw a man get out of a car on east eerie avenue around t:00 last night and hit a woman in the head with a bat. he said the woman dragged the victim into his car and took off. the summit was wearing a a black

hooded sweatshirt and sweat pants and may have been driving a black chevy cruise and this morning, philadelphia police are trying to track down a driver who hit a man and sped off. the victim was crossed lehigh avenue around 7:00 last night when he was struck by a mercedes. the driver drove off and has not been caught. the victim in his 30s is listed in critical condition. and take a look at this. part of this street in north philadelphia had to be shut down because of this water main break. you can see water overflowing on montgomery avenue. the road is now closed between 15th and broad street. officials say it could take a few days to repair that water main break. >> now, your nbc 10 first alert weather. and it is columbus day and a ta off for a will the of people out there. we're enjoying the sunshine and cool temperatures outside rilgt now. give you a live look at the jersey shore, camera in cape may. just a couple of p people there walking along the beach. crystal is here now with our

domestic disturbance call. a third officer was wounded. one of the fallen officers was about to retire. the other was a new mother at the start of her pliska rear. after a 12-hour off, police shot a chemical agent into the home. john felix was wearing body armor and police had to shoot him with nonlethal rounds. his father told his neighbor felix was acting crazy and planning to shoot officers. flood waters are still rising in the south after hurricane matthew. this is new video from smithfield, north carolina. flood waters, hundreds of people were rescued this weekend after the storm hill. miguel almaguer has the latest. >> reporter: after a weekend of daring water res from the rooftops of homes and cars, men, women and children were pulled to safety by the thousands.

tree for three hours in this area before she was rescued. today, police are still looking for the missing and they're keeping a close eye on local dams and rivers that could topple. miguel almaguer, nbc news, back to you. now, your nbc 10 first alert weather. and we're going to start with a look at our temperatures right now in philadelphia. 54 in center city and right now, 55. grad yat hospital at 58 degrees and endora at 54. fox chase in the mid-50s as well, so, we have not seen a lot of warming. in fact, some of these temperatures are similar to what we saw today to start the day. that's because yesterday, we had the rain, the clouds, it holds in heat from the previous day. today, it was a clear start. those temperatures can really cool down. this morning, we were in the how 40s out there over much of the region. radar and satellite, this is a wide view we're looking at. i want to show two things. first off, there's the moisture

we saw yesterday, what was left of matthew's moisture. matthew has since broken apart as it moved off east of north carolina. in longer a concern for the u.s., although as we just saw, the damage already done. second thing to point out is that we're now under high pressure. high pressure means that we see clear conditions. sun is shine, galore and on op to have that, temperatures will start warming. that's what we expect in the days to come. today, not much warming because of the cool air that came in from front yesterday. it helped usher the moisture out though. hour by hour forecast shows us how clear we'll be. we go from monday lunchtime throughout your afternoon and evening. 6:30. not a change on the board. we are going through time here. go from 6:30 overnight to tuesday, still quite clear. sunny forecast to start your tuesday. tuesday, only going to be increasing clouds through your afternoon. there you see them pushing in from west to east, so not a big difference on your tuesday.

temperatures will start to climb up. over the next several days. unfortunately, like i just mentioned, when you've got the clear conditions, the temperatures can really drop overnight, so there's a frost advisory for almost our entire viewing area. you can see all of pennsylvania virtually, except through philadelphia. under this advisory. 2:00 a.m. through 9:00 a.m. on your tuesday morning, so that means there's the b possibility we'll see temperatures low enough for some effect on plants, especially those plants that might be more sensitive to the cold. you see that along the shore and through much of south jersey, so just a heads-up. temperatures will be on the chilly side tuesday morning. here's your neighborhood temperatures for this afternoon. 65 degrees in philadelphia. sommer ton at 62. 62 for westchester. 63 in doylestown. plenty of sun in this forecast. from philadelphia through the lehigh valley. we don't change the icon.

mark building, those flags flapping away. this is center city, philadelphia, of course. clear day though. crystal is here now with our forecast. >> hi, yes, pretty nice look outside. you see our live cameras from different neighborhoods here. we're looking at blue sky, camera after game because we findly are seeing clearing conditions. that cold front moved through yesterday. ahead of it, rain all over the place. but once the cold front pushed out the moisture, we started to see the sunshine. that's going to continue today into the next couple of days. 55 is the temperature now in philadelphia, so, the cold front having an effect, temperatures in the 50s here as we near your lunch hour. 57 in delaware. as we move into the afternoon, you saw those winds around 10 to 20 miles an hour. that will continue. gusts, 20 to 30 miles per hour. temperaturewise, 62 degrees, lehigh valley. 64 for delaware and 65 in philadelphia, so, these low m

mid-60s are below average and thanks to yesterday's cold front. but yesterday's cold front helped usher out the moisture from matthew. if you look at your radar and satellite, the clear conditions we have now, they're going to be around for a while. we have no clouds, no rain to track on the board. and instead, what we're going to be tracking is some spot clouds in the days to come and increasing temperatures with more sunshine. so, we'll take a closer look at the temperature increase over your workweek and the details on your weekend. far ahead coming up. all right, see you in a little bit. a new crisis is brewing for haiti even as the island nation struggles to recover from matthew, the number of of cholera cases is climbing and it's an issue further complic e complicated by the lack of clean drinking water. matthew slammed into haiti last tuesday. thousands are without clean water, food and shelter. government teams are trying to repair wells and water treatment centers before cholera cases spread even more. the first batch of aid from the

united nations have been delivered to haiti. three of nine u.s. helicopters had arrived to the city on the outskirts of the capital yesterday. they're bringing rice and cooking oil among other things. the aid was brought by u.s. cargo planes and distributed to choppers to get to hard to reach areas. the impact of hurricane matthew on north carolina is expected to linger for days. this is video just in. of flooded homes in smithfield. a number of communities are trying to dry out while those downstream are keeping a close eye on rising rivers. dozens of homes are damaged in nags head. coast guard rescued doesesen of people from flooded houses. the storm claimeded the live of at least ten people in the state. the governor just updated the developing situation. a levee has breach ped and now, 1500 people are stranded. >> most of water is about knee deep, but we have people on the roofs as we speak.

and we have a lot of helicopters and boats that have been deployed that are at this point in time. rescuing them. >> parts of i-95 near the same area are closed because of the flooding. and in south carolina, thousands still remain without power. the storm made landfall in the state saturday about 30 miles north of charleston. evacuation orders were lifted for part of the state, but other residents are being warned to stay away for now. crews are out clearing streets and working to restore electricity and rick scott toured the hardest hit areas of his yesterday. he met with leader frs jacksonville. scott says the state was blessed that the storm stayed offshore. the governor says the worst damage he has seen is beach erosion. from damaged roads and some downed trees. and we're learning that samsung has stopped production on its galaxy note 7 smart phones. the south korean company made

weather. >> well, the live look outside philadelphia, you can see the flag just moving in the wind here because we still have the breezy to windy conditions outside. little wind here along shore point, but obviously in philadelphia, feeling the effects as well. that's from the front that passed yesterday. it's bringing us thes, wu also been bringing us the clear conditions allowing for sunshine as well as the cooler temperatures. that we've been feeling outside. radar and satellite that wide view shows us no longer worrying about any rain. in fact, all of parts of the northeast or the mid-atlantic, nice and clear conditions. finally for us. tha going to continue throughout today and over to the next several days. this is a dry forecast. you can check the bottom of your screen with the seven-day, we don't have rain in the forecast throughout your workweek or in your weekend at this point. forecast for today as we move along, the concern now of a cooler temperatures that we're looking at. 60, the temperature on at 2:00.

i think we should make it to about the mid-60s for parts of philadelphia. 10:00, we're in the low 50s for forecast conditions. sub esh, upper 40s. it's going to continue dropping into the early a.m. hours. same for the lehigh valley. a lot of areas are under a advisory as we move into the early hours of tomorrow because of this drop in temperatures with those conditions, so, 44 by 10:00, although we'll make it to about the low 60s for high temperature. low 60s pretty much across the board here by the afternoon and then as we move along, 58 in delaware. 6:00 p.m. 49 by 10:00 p.m. new jersey and along the shore dropping to about 50 degrees with a clear overnight store as well. tropical systems. matthew is no mor. not a concern for the u.s.,al the effects still going to be dealt with for quite some time. now on to nicole. not necessarily a direct impact on the u.s., but take a look here and you see the projected

track has its strenlt ping. it was a tropical storm. it was a hurricane, downgraded to a tropical storm. those winds weaken, 60 miles per hour. it's 455 miles south soft berm and that's the problem with the direction. just to the of berm da. so, the models we're looking at projecting it by tuesday to pick up steam. 75 miles per hour. and that gives us that category 1 title. then we continue put this into motion. wednesday into your thursday, this is when we could start to see the concern of it make landfall near or over parts of bermuda da. still a category 1. right through friday saturday where it will be well off to the east of our area, so not feeling the effects necessarily. but we will have to watch bermuda for the effects in this area due to nicole and its potential strengthening. temperatures will be warming up. this is the good news if you're not loving the mid-60s today. 68 on your tuesday. beware of the 47 degree low. so we make it to the 70s, which
