hunting park. a man was shot ten times in the head execution style. it happened near the steps of a home around 10:00 last night. right now police are rolooking r the gunman. philadelphia police investigating. a gunman opened fire around 11:35 last night. officers found a dead body with a gun next to it. is gunman chased a second person about three blocks away and then shot him. so far no arrests. a home turned into a ball of fire late last night. this morning the fire marshal's office is trying to figure out what started that fire. sky force 10 flew over the home last night. the fire started about 10:00. you can see by the time we got there all that was left was the frame of the home. the fire had already destroyed everything inside. the family was able to get out

but their dog died. we have new details about the condition of one of the firefighters that killed two oers last month. a spokesman says firefighter is now in critical condition. she was in critical but stable condition before. christopher leach were killed in the fire. hope and three others were injured. ruiz is charged with arson and murder for intentionally setting the fire. cloudy and mild today. we are here with the forecast this morning. >> yeah, we had a lot of fog around earlier. it prevented the temperatures from rising as much as it would have. it is up to 63 degrees in philadelphia now.

this is lehigh valley. the clouds continue and they are pretty thick. we also have showers in central pennsylvania moving to the east. it's not that far away from burkes county and lehigh valley. we'll have to dekeep an eye on areas closer to see if any of them survived. it would be very light and brief. it is mostly cloudy, close to 70 degrees in philadelphia this afternoon. we are clearing during the night tonight. mostly cloudy out of the subu s suburbs. that's montgomery and lehigh valley. even those places are going to be clearing waez -- as we go through the evening. up to 70 plus in parts of

delaware. everybody is clearing setting us up for really nice weather. we'll see if it lasts through the weekend in yjust a few minutes. a public hearing about new ways the city is cracking down on teenaged smoking. these are cigarettes. they want businesses to face harsher penalties. they also want to raise the permit fee to sell from $50 to $300. >> i don't have a lot of sympathy for folks who are marketing and selling to young poor people or poor people, things that are detrimental. today we'll get a status report. eric jackson will deliver the address this evening at city hall. the event is open to the public. forgot your cash?

now you can whip out a credit card to pay tolls. according to a report the turnpike will accept plastic at toll booths across the state but they still prefer to deal with cash or easy pass payments. time for a check on the roads. >> yeah. we couldn't see the roads through our cameras mehere. we are right around spring garden. right here on the westbound side they are approaching a slow moving vehicle around montgomery drive. this is 19 minutes with about a 12 minute trip if you're headed westbound. this is on washington lane. watch for that. the pa turnpike looks fine.

two people are in critical condition after a police officer shot them late last night. >> reporter: police responded to this boston neighborhood last night after two roommates got into an argument. one of those roommates had an assault weapon. he opened fire on police. really the big question today is why. this morning two police officers struggling to survive. one of them shot multiple times during a domestic dispute turned gunfight in a boston neighborhood late wednesday.

>> reporter: police say two roommates were having an argument. when police arrived the armed men began shooting wall them and they returned fire. two officers seriously wounded in the exchange. authorities briefly locked down the neighborhood in the s.w.a.t. officers shot and killed the suspect. >> he was armed with some sort of assault rifle. >> there was a lot of gunshots. we saw a lot of police coming, s.w.a.t. teams, dogs, everybody. >> one has about 28 years on the police force and the second officer a 12 year veteran.

north carolina officials just reopened a long section of the main road on the outer banks for the first time since the storm hit. officials say 39 people have been killed in five states as a result of the storm. 20 of those deaths were in north carolina. the governor gave an update about federal aid. >> the federal government has already disbursed $2.6 million to disaster survivors through the individual assistance program. more than 14,000 north carolinans already registered for this program. >> the governor says they are trying to disburse those funds as quickly as possible. hurricane nicole slamming bermuda. winds reaching 125 miles per hour.

forecasters are calling the hurricane extremely dangerous. right now more than 24,000 homes and businesses have lost power. let's check in now with glenn. glenn, what's the latest on nicole's track? >> what's amazing is it is going right over the island of bermuda. the eye of the hurricane is right over bermuda. now the wind has died down. we had gusts reported up to 118 miles per hour in part of the island within the last couple of hours. the strongest storm surge part is on the right side. ma ib th maybe they won't get hit as hard. right now it's down to 120 miles per hour. it is still category 3 moving northeast at 16 miles per hour. so it's moving pretty fast. it's moving away from the united states. it's not going to have any kind of direct effect. you can see it's gradually going

to be weakening as it heads towards the east going out to sea. it's churning up the waves and some of those will come over towards the jersey shore and delaware beaches. there could be a little bit of rough surf over the next couple of days. we have a cold front coming into the area. the southwest winds with the warmer air meet the northwest winds but it's not a real sharp delineation. normally it would be straight south and straight northwest and cause the area to converge and rise and that's when you see a lot of showers. so this is weakening as far as the rainfall is krconcerned butt is getting closer and closer to our area. so there may be light showers

there. this shows what happens by 2:00, 2:30 this afternoon. the last of the showers, the rest of the area not seeing any rain and the front comes through clearing skies tonight. we do not see a repeat of the fog during the day tomorrow. we have had 72 yesterday for the high, about 72 today. we cooled down into the 60s friday and saturday and then sunday the temperature goes up again. we are only in the upper 50s for parts of lehigh valley. in the city of philadelphia we are seeing temperatures at least into the mid-60s and fox chase 67. the average high is only about 68 now. so we are going to be a little bit below normal tomorrow. it will be cooler in the

>> yes. >> you'll be talking to her. tell me what you're going to be talking about. >> we are going to be talking about vision 2020 which is the national coalition which we have built in my institute. delegates in all of the 50 states and they are all working to accomplish shared leadership among women and men, economic parity so there's no wage gap and no retirement income gap so that young people, girls and boys, learn to value gender equality and then voting. we want to see 100% of eligible women's voting which is a big goal but a very exciting one. we need to appreciate the work they did a century ago. >> and speaking of voting a lot may remember you came close to being the first pennsylvania u.s. senator. you have an interesting

perspective on this. what is it like watching this cycle now? we have katie who is still trying to be pennsylvania's first u.s. senator, hillary clinton running to become the first female president. what is it like for you to watch this? >> it is very exciting and long overdue. we are now 44-0 in the presidential sweepstakes, which is kind of amazing. there has never been a woman president. in pennsylvania which is a very large state we have never had a woman in the u.s. senate. i was only the second party nominee and katie is only the third in all of the history of this state. so it's time. it's really time to have more women in leadership because women in government leadership as in business leadership will advance the policies and issues all of us care about as women,

have the thickest clouds, we are warming up at south jersey. jersey shore up to 69 degrees. definitely getting into the 70s. no doubt about that. a lot of clouds moving in here. we also have a cold front. you can obviously see the results of that. there is a band of showers there that are moving into burkes county and lehigh valley. they are weakening. it's possible some could get into chester county and a few sprinkles come into the area over the next couple of hours. that's what this one computer model shows. it is a little bit heavier around lehigh county but very light around philadelphia. that moves through within a couple of hours. by this afternoon's rush there really is no threat of rain. the drier air, clearing skies

will be on the way in this evening. so as we go in sbinto the low 7 a slight chance of a shower. a little better chance of montgomery and bucks and highest in the lehigh valley. we'll see if there's more a little bit later. the longest reigning monarch has died. they confirmed thailand's king passed away peacefully this morning. the government will now observe one year of mourning and flags will fly at half staff for 30 days. his son is expected to become the new king. two incidents this week in which were fired.

richard a has the latest. >> the u.s. military is getting drawn into another conflict in the middle east. overnight the pentagon announcing american warships launched an attack on areas in yemen. it launched several to install radar installations in areas held by rebels in yemen. for over a year saudi arabia backed by the united states has been at war with rebels in yemen. it caused a lot of sentiment in yemen and the rebels alleged launched a failed attack. the military said it would investigate and that it would respond with force should it ever happen again. then yesterday it did happen

county. could make it into chester county, for example. the farther shoouth you are the less likely it is to last. futurecast shows everything really weakening over the next few hours. it doesn't look like much of a threat for the afternoon rush. we get clearing skies tonight as the cold front triggering all of that comes in. you can get the seven day at any time. you don't have to wait until the end. it's not just for philadelphia anymore. as we go through the day today and tonight there are the showers, quakertown and redding. tonight temperatures start go down fairly quickly as we get clearing skies. by tomorrow morning we are getting close to the 30s in redding, allentown, atlantic

city 50. clear skies. no fog tomorrow morning. lots of sunshine tomorrow. nothing but sunshine, temperatures in the 60s though. as we go through the weekend there are those temperatures in the 60s with the sunshine. 60s with sunshine on saturday. near 70 philadelphia and south jersey. delaware wants this. this is category 3. the eye has tied the record for the strongest hurricane to make a direct hit on that country with 120 miles per hour winds moving northeast at 16 miles per hour. it will continue to move out to sea and not have the direct effect on us although it will churn up the waves and get rip currents as we go towards the weekend.
