necessarily remain civil. if you're an undecided voter, you heard from both sides what they want to accomplish on different issues, but a little needling in there and a little bit of name-calling. right now we are inside the spin room. let me show you what's happening behind me. you can see how busy it is up there. all of those reporters are all around the edges of a large corral that had been set up in case any of the big names came in here and wanted to do their own spin tonight. donald trump did not make an appearance although he did at the first one. his campaign manager, kellyanne conway, was the first one out of the gate here to talk to reporters and get their side out, and we have seen republicans and democrats coming in to do some spin. i got a chance to talk to dr. ben carson, a republican, former presidential candidate, about this very issue of whether donald trump will accept the results of the election. take a listen. >> i don't think it does anything quite frankly.

i'm not sure it's a question that has that much import compared to some of the other things that were talked about. nobody is going to remember that. >> reporter: well, i can tell you that democrats are going to try to make sure that people do remember it. right after i left dr. carson, i went over to the other side of the spin room, where senator harry reid was talking, and he brought it up as an issue. and you can expect that democrats will continue to bring this up, and it does raise questions that we will be continuing to ask here in the spin room tonight. jim and jacqueline, back to you. >> lauren, not likely to go away anytime soon. and donald trump needed to get the momentum moving in his direction tonight. he's lagging behind hillary clinton in the must-win battleground states, including right here in pennsylvania. >> and this new college poll was conducted earlier this week before tonight's debate. it found clinton leading trump 45% to 41% in pennsylvania.

that's with a margin of error of 3%. nbc10's drew smith watched the debate with voters in the philadelphia suburbs, voters who could determine the outcome of this race. drew, what did they think tonight? >> reporter: well, we started at a debate watch party packed with young voters. then came here to this restaurant. we did find some debate fatigue as it competed with some live sports inside the bar. but we also found undecided voters even after this third debate, who are still out here not sure who they're going to vote for in these swing suburbs outside philadelphia. hannah foster still doesn't know who she'll be voting for in this election, but she was pleased with the way this debate started with less shouting and more focus on policy. >> emotions need to be put aside to get the points across without, you know, everyone going to pieces. >> reporter: at bryn mawr college, students first discussed politics, then watched and studied the social media reaction to the debate. >> i think when you're getting some sort of instant analysis,

it helps you frame what you're seeing on tv. >> reporter: clinton supporters thought this was one of the democratic nominee's better performances. >> i think hillary is knocking it out of the park tonight. she's speaking in really strong terms. >> reporter: while a trump voter thought the republican candidate held his own. >> even tonight he's been dealing with facts more than her. >> reporter: the restaurant saw a much smaller crowd than the past two debates, something one voter says has to do with clinton's lead in the polls here. >> if it's neck and neck, probably there's going to be a lot of interest in coming here. it's almost politics has turned into sports or something. >> reporter: and we noticed the audiences at these parties were a little bit more subdued than the past few debates. but there was the cheers, the laughs, even the growns that we've grown accustomed to during this presidential debate cycle. drew smith, nbc10 news. tonight, the nbc10 investigators are taking a closer look at voting irregular

laters. george spencer spoke with a man who voted illegally in six elections, and he's not the only one we found. don't miss our investigation coming up in just i few minutes. so south jersey now and the small plane that went down in a backyard tonight. we're learning new details about the survivors. >> nbc10's brandon hudson is live in linden wald, camden county. what's going on where you are right now? >> reporter: jim, police have their headlight on that damaged aircraft. you can see it right behind me. we have our light out here too. you can get a better look at it tonight. new tonight, we found out more about this pilot. his name is wayne gilchrist. he's a 66-year-old man, and he's from delaware. he did his best to avoid flying into any of these homes before he crash landed. now, this plane is not going anywhere until investigators return out here tomorrow morning. kept largely out of sight tonight, the story behind this mangled single-engine plane gripped this linden wold neighborhood since it crashed this afternoon.

it happened just feet away from this woman's house. >> imagine you come home from work and there's a plane in your yard. >> williams says she didn't know about the crash until she got home from work and saw police outside. she told us it's not uncommon for planes to fly over. >> sometimes they seem a little low, but we've never had any issues or real concerns. >> reporter: that was until today's plane crash. skyforce10 was overhead around 1:00 as paramedics took one of the passengers to an ambulance. neighbors quickly ran to see what happened. >> it took a couple people to the hospital. by the time we got down here, most of the stuff was cleared out. it was really, really loud. >> it kind of looked like it was in distress, going back and forth, back and forth. t the pilot was trying to keep control of the aircraft. >> reporter: nbc10 learned a 66-year-old pilot and 72-year-old passenger rented a 1946 airco 415 c from an airport in medford. both men, who were trapped

inside for a half hour, were taken to cooper university hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. >> we're fortunate in the fact it didn't strike any houses. >> right. >> it looks like it came between, you know, about four homes kind of on a diagonal, struck some trees. >> reporter: investigators from the ntsb and faa are working to find out why this plane crashed. we found out from the faa registry that this plane belongs to a man who lives in maryland. live in linden wold, i'm brandon hudson, nbc10 news. a major story we're following, classes canceled for more than. teachers hit the picket lines this morning at five colleges in our region. westchester, cheney, millersville, and kuts town. the professors are upset about a contract offer they say forces them to pay more for health care among other things. students are afraid the strike could affect grades. financial aid and even graduation.

contribution will go up as will donald's assuming he can't figure out how to get out of it. what we want to do -- >> such a nasty woman. >> donald trump calling hillary clinton a nasty woman as she was answering that question about entitlement costs tonight. tonight's final presidential debate was full of heated exchanges. just 20 days to go now until election day. new tonight in decision 2016, voting irregularities. >> activists point to non-citizens on the voter rolls in the city of philadelphia. some casting ballots. investigator reporter george spencer tracked down one of those voters. >> reporter: some came and knocked on your door? >> yeah, yeah, yeah. >> reporter: for anthony solomon, that 2008 knock on his front door was unexpected. it was a young man asking him to register to vote. you thought it was the right thing to do? >> yes. >> reporter: solomon, a native of trinidad, had a green card, but he was not a u.s. citizen at the time. and yet that box on his form was

scratched out and changed. he says by someone else. he admits he cast ballots for years, not knowing it was illegal, right alongside american citizens. >> four different times. >> and no one at the voting booth, no one in the city stopped you? >> no. no. no, because my name was there in the voting booth. >> reporter: records show solomon actually voted six times, but he's just one example in philadelphia. jay christian adams of the public interest legal foundation says election officials do little to police the problem. >> they're just leaving the control of the elections to accident, to happenstance, and randomness. >> reporter: adams' group released this report detailing its analysis of philly's voter rolls. the report found 40 non-citizens voting in elections. that might not be enough to sway

an election outcome, but adams says it speaks to lack of oversight. everyone on this list eventually took their own names off the voter rolls, but he believes there are many more who never self-disclose. >> somebody's vote gets canceled every time an illegitimate vote is cast. >> where does the breakdown happen? >> it doesn't work without information-sharing. there is no list of citizens to check. there is no list of non-citizens for us to check. >> reporter: al schmidt is one of three city commissioners charged with overseeing elections for philly's 1 million-plus voters. his 2012 review found similar problems with voter rolls. but significant academic research indicates that voter fraud is rare. so rare, according to one nyu study, that it could not and does not happen at the rate even approaching that which would be required to rig an election. city commissioners say they per sue a critical and delicate

balance. individually studying each case of possible wrongful registration before removing anyone, while being certain that rightful voters are never accidentally removed. >> the last thing -- the absolute last thing that we would want to do is remove an eligible voter from the list wrongly. >> reporter: indeed, many watchdogs believe democracy may be best served not by adding new rules like voter ids, but by making it easy for people to vote. in the end, patrick christmas, of the non-partisan committee of 70, says the relatively small handful of illegal voters like solomon used to be -- >> i didn't know. >> reporter: -- are far out weighed by the many more freely exercising their legal right. >> as far the integrity of the process and the integrity of our democratic process, that will not be compromised by this type of issue. >> reporter: reporting in philadelphia, george spencer, nbc10 news.

by law, election accountability originates with the local district attorney. in philadelphia, the election fraud task force has had six guilty pleas along with another case still pending since it launched in 2014. an arrest warrant's been issued for a teenage suspect in last night's robbery and shooting near rittenhouse square. police say a 17-year-old shot a good samaritan as he interrupted that robbery. police aren't releasing any surveillance video of the crime. the man who tried to intervene was shot five times. he's in stable condition tonight. detectives tell nbc10 the suspect's parents are cooperating. a local community is banding together to help raise money for an injured law enforcement official. nbc10 was in northeast philadelphia for a benefit for sheriff's deputy paul owens. owens was injured last month when an elevator crashed the at the criminal justice center. when there is tragedy in our area, they bring hope to our neighbors in need. >> tonight they remarkable local volunteers were celebrated. the american red cross of

southeastern pennsylvania gathered at the hilton hotel to give back to its hundreds of volunteers. they make up 91% of the chapter. our own keith jones is affiliated with the organization. he served as the m.c. for tonight. speaking of tonight, looking at the temperature there. 73 degrees, and it's going down, down, down. >> i know. this was the warmest. sheena. >> tomorrow we're still going to be unseasonably warm, but we're not going to be at those mid-80s like we saw today. we had the record heat today. tomorrow, still a nice day, but we're going to have some showers around for the morning commute. that cool trend, you're right, does continue as we go into the weekend. record highs for today, here they are. temperatures were mostly in the mid-80s. wilmington hit a record of 87. philadelphia hit 86 degrees. keep in mind the normal high for today is 66 degrees. we were 20 degrees above where we should be. so we have that unseasonably

warm air mass in place. tomorrow it's not going to be as warm through the afternoon. tomorrow, showers will be around mainly north and west in philadelphia. the colder air gets here for the weekend just in time for the eagles game. if you're going to be tailgating, it's going to feel a little bit more like football weather. 53 degrees by kickoff. 58 by the end of the game. we're going to stay nice and dry for that too. could have some rain lingering into saturday, but sunday looks good. there's a look at our temperature trend. you see it going down. by the weekend, we're going to be below normal for this time of the year. we've been above normal. we're going to stay that way through the end of the week, but then we drop into the upper 50s saturday. around 60 degrees as we go into sunday. so it's going to cool down real quick. locally we're nice and dry. the clouds just off to our west. there they are. there's the rain. that's moving in this direction, but again for tomorrow morning, everyone will notice the clouds increasing, but only some areas, i think, will be seeing that early morning rain.

fairmount could see some early showers. 77 degrees for a high. redding will see some early morning showers. temperatures there right around 76 degrees. if you're in new jersey, you could see some early showers. voorhees township, 76. along the shore and in delaware, though, you have the lowest chance for some showers, but you will see the clouds. newark coming in around 78 degrees. here's future weather. we stay dry tonight. there's the rain, 9:00 a.m. mostly north and west of philadelphia. we don't see too much more for the rest of the day. then we go into friday. friday will see some rain approaching from the west by lunchtime. moves in during the afternoon and evening friday night. then we go into saturday. i think some of that rain will be lingering as we go into your saturday. so we are adding rain to start off the weekend. the end of the weekend looks good. but look at those temperatures. they drop, and they stay pretty low too. >> thanks, sheena. how much would you be willing to pay for a local landmark? >> a piece of history is for sale in atlantic city. one lawmakers are betting it

i've seen what can happen as the result of hate. my son matt was murdered in laramie, wyoming, in 1998. he was befriended by two men in a bar who pretended to be gay. they offered him a ride home, and when he was in their car, they robbed him and beat him. they drove matt out to the prairie and tied him to a split-rail fence, then beat him some more and left him for dead. in the aftermath of matt's death, my family saw the best of america in the love and support we were shown. so when i see the hate that donald trump has brought to his campaign for president, it terrifies me. i'd like to punch him in the face, i'll tell ya. ahh, i don't know what i said, uhh, i don't remember. he's a mexican. i could stand in the middle of fifth avenue and shoot somebody, and i wouldn't... words have an influence. violence causes pain. hate can rip us apart. i know what can happen as the result of hate,

tonight, atlantic city moves one step closer to selling bader field. tonight the city council approved first reading of a proposal to sell the field. that deal would give the city $110 million to go toward paying down the city's $500 million debt. the council still needs to approve the plan again, and the state must do the same. a.c. is trying to avoid a state takeover. kids in philadelphia have a new place to play soccer. the national nonprofit announced its partnership with the kensington soccer club. comcast, nbc10's parent company,
