agree more. the district attorney said the attorney general was sworn to uphold the laws of pennsylvania and when the attorney general cannot tell the truth, remember, the conviction is a perjury charge. he says when the ag can't tell the truth, then we have a serious problem. at this hour kathleen kane is headed to the montgomery county prison where she is to serve those ten to 23 months. however, her case is pending an appeal. and so pennsylvania law does allow for people who have been sentenced to less than two years in prison to remain on bail during the appeal. but in this case, the judge raised her bail to $75,000 cash. that is money she did not have on her. that is why right now she is going to the county prison and will remain there until she can post $75,000 and remain on bail while the case is pending appeal. live outside the montgomery county courthouse, deanna

durante, nbc 10 news. >> deanna, thank you. this story is developing right now. we're looking at a live picture from skyforce 10 over the suv carrying kathleen kane. she's now on her way to the montgomery county correctional facility in eagleville. kane was convicted in august on nine counts of perjury and obstruction after leaking grand jury files. she arced tgued that the loss o career, law license, and reputation was punishment enough. >> we'll continue to watch this story as kathleen kane is taken in that suv to prison. stay with nbc 10 for further developments on today's sentencing of the former attorney general. >> while could hakathleen kane inside waiting for sentencing, her car was getting ticketed. a journalist noticed it. it is for a meter violation. turning to this now, here is how things looked today outside

philadelphia's historic union league. one side of the building's iconic twin staircases lies in ruins. the union league of philadelphia is on broad street near samson not far from city hall. its members found the damage this morning. this afternoon they know exactly how this happened. nbc 10's lauren mayk is live with more. >> reporter: jacqueline, you can see behind me the cleanup is already under way here. here is what we know happened. you see that brass railing there? there was one on the other side. someone came and just ripped that right off. then i'm told they carried what was a six-foot-long piece of magne metal all the way down here to this street. they then turned that corner, stashed it, came back a few minutes later, and got away. they were left a crumbled mess. pieces of history from a fancy

philadelphia landmark, now surrounded by yellow caution tape. these stairs at the union league now damaged and missing part of their brass railings after someone pulled an overnight highest. why would someone want the railings? >> one could assume they would be for scrap. but we don't know what the state of mind was. >> reporter: we're told it was caught on video and the league is looking to track him down. >> you can see him on camera going to the railing and ripping it from the actual structure and causing the entire structure to collapse. >> reporter: did he use any tools? >> it doesn't appear so. i don't know if this was planned or just happened. >> reporter: the structure has been restored but it dates back to 1865. now it's a jarring sight on broad street. debbie kinsey works nearby. >> donald trump was here. i met president clinton here. i'm here every day going to and from work. i never seen anything like this. i've been working here 18 years. >> it makes me sick.

glenn "hurricane" schwartz is with us now. >> we'll be going up and down and up and down over the next week. the main thing we'll be noticing is the wind, a lot of windy days over the next week. today, it was warmer wind, 64 degrees in philadelphia right now, which is right around average for this time of the year. you can see temperatures are near 60 across much of the region. a little more cloud cover in parts of the lehigh valley during the day today. but everybody is seeing those winds. west to northwest wind will start bringing colder air in as soon as the sun goes down. 18-mile-an-hour wind in atlantic city and dover and wilmington. 21-mile-an-hour sustained wind in coatsville. that's bringing in the colder air. through the night tonight, the skies are clearing, but the temperature is down. we're 44 at 6:00 a.m. in philadelphia. a little bit of wind might make it feel like the upper 30 poise in some of the p.a. suburbs.

38 feeling closer to the freezing mark. lehigh valley, similar story. nobody seeing any precipitation during the night tonight or during the day tomorrow. we'll start after with a lot of sunshine, not nearly as mild as today. we'll talk about how much cooler it's going to get. wait until you see how much cooler it will get tomorrow night, when we have the rest of the forecast in a few minutes. prosecutors will be cross-examining bridget kelly today. she's accused of causing the new jersey bridge closing scandal. she testified that governor chris christie signed off on it. she said the lane closures were described to as a legitimate traffic study. a string of assaults at temple is forcing campus police into action after students and

officers were attacked by a flash mob friday night near broad and cecil b. moore. police say two males and one fe female students were attacked. in two separate incidents a temple officer was assaulted. one student described the chaotic scene. >> we just saw kids charging us. we got in safely, but i've never been so scared in my life, being down here at temple. >> two 15-year-old males were arrested. police say they plan to double patrols on the weekends through the end of the semester. students who attend pennsylvania's 14 state-owned universities returned to class today after last week's professor strike. professors walked off the job last wednesday at universities including chaney and westchester after bargaining broke down. the union reached a tentative agreement with the state's

system of higher education on friday. the new contract provides raises for employees but also requires them to pick up more of their health care costs. penn state fans celebrating the school's upset victory over ohio caused $18,000 worth of damage over the weekend. fans pulled down five streetlights, took down about 20 street and stop signs. it's not clear how much damage was done to private property. at least one car was damaged and some furniture was set on fire as well. police want anyone who captured the damage on video to contact them. a new jersey congresswoman wants to protect kids from lead poisoning in trenton today. molly watson coleman announced new legislation to help ensure children don't fall victim to lead poisoning in schools. new funds were announced to help address local lead issues. this week is national lead poisoning awareness week. camden high school is about

to undergo a $133 million reconstruction project. but before that happens, the school district wants to put together a committee to help drive the project forward. they're looking for community members and alumni to weigh in with feedback through the duration of the project, which is expected to be completed in 2021. to decision 2016. now just 15 days left before the november 8th election. both candidates on the road today at rallies across the country. hillary clinton got some help from massachusetts senator elizabeth warren. the pair joined forces at an outdoor college in closely-contested new hampshire. warren, a liberal icon, tore into trump for his comments about women, especially when he called hillary clinton "nasty" during the debate. she drew cheers when she said women have had it with guys like trump. 45 minutes donald trump took the stage here in st. augustine

and announced the results of a new poll. >> a new poll that just came out from "investors business daily" which was the most accurate poll from the last three presidential elections has us up two points nationwide. toomey leading mcginty by four percentage points. i spoke with a political expert to get her take on this race. >> most people are hardened in their positions at this point. you're trying to persuade a very few people. it may just come down to what's turnout like on election day. >> tonight's second debate between mcginty and toomey will be their last. we are learning more about this deadly tour bus crash in southern california this afternoon. 13 people killed, including the bus driver when that bus plowed right into the back of a tractor trailer yesterday. look at the damage there. investigators say maintenance crews had slowed traffic so utility workers could string wires across the freeway. now, it's not known if alcohol, drugs, or fatigue played a role in this crash. the bus did not have seatbelts and likely does not have a data recorder. investigators still don't know what caused an rv carrying marijuana-laced candy to burst into flames on the delaware memorial bridge. the rv belonged to a pot

advocacy group called weed world candies. it's used to sell marijuana-laced lolly pops and promote the legalization of marijuana. the company says $50,000 worth of merchandise was destroyed in the fire. no one was hurt. an ongoing battle between uber, lyft, and the city of philadelphia could be coming to an end soon. today the state senate will vote on whether to make the ride sharing services legal. last week the pennsylvania house passed a law allowing the rides. the companies inked a temporary deal with the city but that has expired. the family of a north hampton county man killed by police after a car chase has filed a lawsuit against police. the family of 39-year-old richard sherman said a police officer used excessive force

after he smashed into a telephone pole. police say sherman rammed a police car and was shot twice by police. today the sheriff's office announced plans to outfit officers about body cameras by the end of the month. they'll be worn by all officers and will be mounted on the chest, shoulder, or waist. in about an hour, the mayor of atlantic city will lay out his plan to keep the city financially afloat for the next five years. a special city council meeting is being held at 5:00 p.m. at city hall. last week the city announced it's selling a sports stadium. the mayor is expected to speak more about a possible settlement with the borgata casino which is fighting with the city over millions in backs taxes. a ship that once toured warships in world war ii will be sunk in cape may. >> it will help grow a reef near

cape may point by drawing large game fish and boosting recreational fishing. sunday is the 25th anniversary of the storm in which the "tamaroa" helped rescue the crew of a sailboat near massachusetts. it's portrayed in the book and film "the perfect storm." >> who can forget that film? this is pretty nice weather we're dealing with right now. not bad at all. a little cooler. >> perfect fall weather, glenn. >> yes, it's pretty nice out there, compared to the 80s that we had last week, which is very unusual for this time of the year. mid-60s, that's more typical. now, it's also typical to be kind of windy during the fall. you can see the wind is shaking that camera as we look down i-95 and the traffic moving nicely this rush hour. you can see temperatures are in the 60s. mid-60s at delaware, south jersey, jersey shore. and specifically in delaware. 64 in wilmington. harmony hills.

odessa at 65. middletown is at 63. closer to the shore and in southern delaware, it's close to 70. 68 in georgetown, ellendale. milton is 69 degrees. not anywhere near that warm during the day tomorrow. winds now are gusting 20 to 30 miles per hour. they're bringing in cooler air. and you'll notice that by morning. you'll notice it during the afternoon tomorrow. even when the sun is out, it will feel colder than it feels today. you can see the effect of the norse west winds bringing moisture but the great lakes, not enough to produce rain. there's no weather system that's going to be moving in over the next couple of days. the fall colors are just getting spectacular out there. it seems like everything is changing at the same time, which doesn't happen all the time, which is kind of a great combination. in southeast p.a., we'll be

getting the peak fall colors within the next week or so. we're already getting it in the poconos, and into the lehigh valley and other northern and western suburbs, pretty close to the peak right now. it's just going to be a beautiful week for that. and as we go through the day tomorrow, no significant cloud cover. a little bit on the breezy side. but that's about it. wednesday, a fair amount of sunshine. clouds increased during the afternoon. what is that? that's blue. we haven't seen a blue color in a long time. that's up toward the poconos. perhaps by wednesday night, we're not talking about a snowstorm or anything, but some snow flurries or snow showers, melting of course. but we haven't seen that on the map yet. as this cold front comes through with a fairly large area of rain. it looks like just about everybody is going to be seeing rain during the day on thursday. you can see the rain chances

really jump up tremendously from tuesday and wednesday to thursday. dover, atlantic city, reading. then we drop on friday, and then we have fairly high rain chances on saturday. again, those are the two main days during the next week. as we go through the night tonight, we're going to see these temperatures dropping under clear skies, going down into the 30s. allentown, 37. quakertown, 38. with a little bit of wind making it feel even cooler. as we go through the day tomorrow, we find temperatures only in the low to mid-50s. so it is going to be a good bit cooler than what we have seen today. and over the next three days, even colder on wednesday. look at the low temperature, 36 in philadelphia. many of the suburbs down to freezing. and then on thursday is when we get the rain, all through the area.

office literally just sent us a statement saying once they became aware of the video, they called the franchisee last night. they say the employees will be fired, the restaurant will be sanitized, and the ones who aren't getting fired will be retrained. tim furlong, nbc 10 news. >> probably being told to stay off the internet there. taking those coats to school this morning was a pretty good idea. nbc 10 in havertown where it's chilly right now. cooler temperatures will push into our region tonight. >> let's go to nbc 10 first alert meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> the temperature is going down. the wind is picking up right now. compared to last week when we were in the mid-80s, record warmth. even 64 feels chilly. this will be ten degrees colder than that tomorrow. plus at least as much wind.

60 in many of the suburbs. we have valley low 60s. delaware, mid-60s. so it's kind of mild compared to the way it's going to be for most of the rest of the week. we have a northwest sustained wind of 21 miles an hour in coatesville. 18 in wilmington and dover and mehlville. everybody's got at least a 10 to 15-mile-an-hour wind. that's going to bring in the colder air. by morning, 44 degrees. 6:00 a.m. in philadelphia. but a bit of wind making it feel like it's in the upper 30s. the temperature in the p.a. suburbs, in montgomery, bucks, chester counties, 38 degrees with a little wind feeling like about 34, 33 degrees. similar story in the lehigh valley. and pretty chilly across much of the rest of the area. and the wind tomorrow is not going to allow us to warm up. we'll see how much we're going to warm up at any point during the ten-day forecast, coming up

this part of pennsylvania. central pennsylvania gets a few little sprinkles during the afternoon. a lot of dry air across much of the eastern part of the country. now, as we go through the next couple of days, we'll watch the temperatures. then you'll see something else interesting. through the night tonight, temperatures dropping into the 40s. by 6:00 a.m., in the upper 30s with a little bit of wind. we're also talking about clear skies. do you go the afternoon tomorrow, not warming up much. 54 in philadelphia, 51 in allentown, 52 in reading for the high. that sets us up for a frosty morning on wednesday, as the wind dice down. 36 or 7 in philadelphia. down close to 30, maybe even some upper 20s in some of the coldest areas. that's wednesday morning. wednesday afternoon, we start getting some clouds.

it's another chilly day. and then comes the moisture. look at that, a little blue up towards the poconos. maybe getting a little bit of wet snow at the beginning of this. early thursday morning, you see how cold it is in allentown, 39 with some light rain. and then it's a fairly wet today. this is not just a couple of showers during the day on thursday. and look how cool it is. allentown, 42 at noontime, while it's 62 degrees in cape may. so you'll see that reflected on our regional forecast. now, you can see the temperature way below average as we go through the next few days. average high is 64. 52 for a high wednesday. only 58 thursday. some parts of the area, only getting into the low 50s at best. then on friday, we've got more wind. we've got wind on saturday.
