welcome to the postgame report. >> the cowboys come back and rally and have won six in a row and are two clear of the rest of the nfc east. our third. straight sunday night overtime. a great day of football, started early in the morning with overtime. three o.t. games. this one built to a great crescendo. and dak prescott, who struggled in the second and third quarter, comes up big in the fourth quarter. a game-winning touchdown pass. and not just prescot, but the man he threw the touchdown pass to. and the top tackler for the cowboys tonight, all on the sunday night bus, getting game balls. it's prescott. it's jason witten. it's sean leigh. and they're standing by with michele. >> mike, thank you. dak, you trialed by as many as ten. and you clawed back. what was the mood in the huddle? >> we took it one play at a time. the defense gave us an

stretch. wentz played well. but dak prescott, i don't know with what you can say about that young man. he made the plays town the stretch. that was dak prescott tonight. >> thank you. let's go to mike florio. let's talk about things we saw around the league today. alex smith took a hard hit. evaluated for a concussion. he was cleared. he came back in that win against indianapolis. and smith came back in. the question that people will be asking, was procedure properly followed when he got the first concussion? when that player is taken into the locker room, a concussion protocol is performed. we've seen the video, alex smith looked woozy. something didn't look right.

and keep an eye on what may happen moving forward. there's people in the league office, that prefer a system. not where the player is evaluated for a con cushion and probably brought back to the game. but yanked from the game, based on the suspicion of a possible concussion. people like john madden, former giants and jaguars coach, tom coughlin, are advocating a situation where the player is removed and not return when there's doubt of a concussion. this maybe pushes that argument forward. >> concussion symptoms don't show up right away. sometimes it takes some time. one more. cam newton vocal after the carolina game they won. saying he doesn't believe he's protected out there. what are you hearing about this topic? >> the league's position will be that he's no more or less protected than anyone else. the league says there are 11 quarterbacks that had more missed roughing the passer calls than cam newton, who has only had three missed roughing the passer calls.

lost in the royal road trip. >> the street is so dangerous near one senior living facility that residents in wheelchairs are wearing reflective vests when they go out. a man died friday night on his way to his prince george's county home. residents told darcy spencer something needs to be done. a man riding his motorized wheelchair as cars fly by. it's happening on stuart lane in clinton in the very place where another man died doing the same thing friday night. >> the wheelchair got as much right as a vehicle. you don't have no sidewalks. >> the men in the wheelchairs are residents of the clinton nursing and rehab center. they are risking their lives on this two-lane road to get food or a pack of cigarettes at shopping sites less than a mile away.

>> they should have buses running. >> multiple residents confirm the man lived at this facility and was returning home in the dark when he was hit in his wheelchair. the driver stayed on the scene. residents told me the center gave them these reflective vests after the crash. >> how dangerous is it? >> real dangerous. >> what needs to be done to make it safer? >> they need sidewalks and lights. >> i notice the car ended up right here. >> darren banner lives next to the center and heard the crash. he said this problem has been going on for years and hopes this tragedy will force the facility or prince george's county to make safety changes. >> we kind of called about it to see if there can be a better situation, be it a sidewalk or be it some type of transportation provided for the residents. >> a supervisor declined to comment for the story, but told me to call the executive

positions and slashes employee benefits. people at the station tell us they are not fans. >> i think it sucks. i just got to say a little more so i can ride the train or get a car. >> changes can take effect as soon as this summer. new tonight, we learn more about a woman killed in a hit-and-run in the district. family members shared this photo of kim moore. they describe her as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. moore was driving her daughter and 4-year-old grandson to a halloween party saturday afternoon. the driver rear ended their car on eastern avenue and tried to run. he is charged with involuntary manslaughter. moore's daughter is in the hospital and the middle boy is okay. they need help with funeral expenses. you can find a link in our nbc washington app.

you have been aggressive and looked like you went the other way? >> i felt too that the defensive gain in the momentum and if we could have -- which we did, we punt and got them backed up and put our defense back on the field. we felt comfortable doing that and making that decision. >> was that a tough decision to not take there and he has been so good recently? actually longer than that? >> the thing is the field position at that time is critical. he did kick the one before half which was an excellent kick and with no time left on the clock. had we executed better on the third downplay, we would have been in a better position to kick the field goal at that time. we didn't execute on the play before. >> you wanted to try the josh

huff pass? >> they had been jumping the combinations a little bit and we had been -- just driving the ball and we were on the left harsh, the right harsh for the play, the play we had shown last week and took advantage of the situation and almost came up with the play. >> the vertical passes. >> we had opportunities and down the field i felt too that we took advantage of the underneath stuff and used our tight ends with the game and we had a couple of opportunities before the half and at the end of the game to go down the field. at the same time we felt that our tight ends and some of our shorter stuff was the way to go. >> was it that ben carson was not taking them? >> without looking at the film and going back through it, it would be hard to answer that

question. nothing by play design or anything like that. we had opportunities early in the game. just again he elected to pull the ball down and hit the back a couple of times and hit it out of the back field. that's okay. it doesn't have to be a down the field mentality all the time. when you call it, i want him as a quarterback, you do the right thing with the football. it's always a touchdown mentality. we have to go back and look at the tape and see where we can execute better. >> the last couple of games, was that the game plan because of that? >> he was hot and having a great game. i just wanted to keep them in there and keep him rolling. >> until the fourth quarter, it looks like you guys are in control of the game. he fumbles the ball with 16

unanswered points. how defeating is that? >> it's tough. this is going to be a great learning lesson for a lot of our young players on the football team and really for everybody. the coach is included and myself included. it's hard to make those types of mistakes and especially try to overcome them. it's just disheartening, but at the same time there will be great lessons learned out of this game. >> the window of carrying earlier instead of giving him his first carry. >> it was the way the game was going at the time. it was a safe play and a safe run. we had a couple of assignment issues up front. you have to learn to hang on to the ball in those situations. we know it will be tight running

and running lanes and you have to hang on to the ball. >> you mentioned what's the learning experience for you? >> i think just for me staying aggressive number one. i think that's been something that i prided myself on a little bit. being smart with it at the same time. you learn to -- i think one of the positives is darren was hot. darren was having a great game. you have to take away can keep feeding him the ball and as many touches as you can and let a guy like darren use his athleticism to make plays. you learned from that and so it's definitely a learning

situation. >> how bad is he hurt? >> i don't know yet until we get back and evaluate him. >> in the final three minutes, carson had two chances to lead drives and he announced both times. what was happening with the offense in the fourth quarter? >> the last drive, the penalty was critical at that time. to potentially go down and kick the game winner. these are situations that is situational football. it's something that he will learn from. as tough as it is in games like this, everything matters. everything gets magnified. i think he will appreciate looking at this film and learning for it as well. >> there is a lot of football left. after a loss like this, what are you saying to the players? >> exactly that. we are still a good football

the game leading his huddle and talking about playing with swagger tonight. the eagles did that through three quarters and it was not as good in the fourth quarter and overtime. the eagles were up by 10. 23-13. 16 unanswered points for the cowboys. that's tough to hear malcolm jenkins. you guys gave up 212 yards for the cowboys in the first half. you had that incredible play in the red zone where jordan hicks gets that interception. you guys had to have felt good about themselves limiting them to about 80 yards. how good did the team feel? >> as far as where we were at, we were going back and forth and that pick by jordan was huge and gave us momentum. we felt like we were one or two stops away from putting the game away. they had that fake
