septa region rail passengers. >> it takes me about 15 to 20 minutes to get to work. today it took me two and a half hours. >> reporter: a large crowd packed the regional rail concourse. some still haven't adjusted to the chaos. >> right now i don't even know where i'm going. getting ready to ask someone. >> reporter: cell phone video shows seemingly never ending lines of people snaked around corners. adding to the frustrations, a massive delay at the angora station where a train hit and killed a person, shutting down inbound and outbound service on the media elwin line at one point this evening. most onboard passengers left on a shuttle. we spoke to a man who questions if a worker strike is worth it. >> d.c. doesn't have this problem. new york doesn't have this problem. we allow our unions to have so much power and control that it shuts our city down. >> reporter: as the work stoppage over better health care and pensions continues to take a toll, congressman bob brady met

with both sides in center city. >> you got to get in there and score. >> i wish they would do that with their service on an ongoing basis. >> reporter: as i said, we got a statement in from septa in the last ten minutes. i can bring you a quick quote from that. it says, quote, on several occasions, this week septa negotiations believed progress tort a deal had been made. however, after positive turns, the local union has brought the negotiations to a halt. at the direction of septa boorksd the authority has addressed these negotiations with the utmost urgency from the start. septa's negotiating team has bargained in good faith with the union, presented fair offers, and quickly and thoughtfully responded to all proposals. we'll continue to stay here as negotiations happen. it could end tonight. it could go into tomorrow morning. regardless, nbc10 will be here. reporting life in center city, brandon hudson, nbc10 news. >> as you heard from brandon's statement, there is no deal yet,

work because of the strike. >> and maybe they should bring an umbrella tomorrow, sheena. >> i think you'll need the umbrella in the afternoon. so if the septa strike is affecting you and you'll be walking or maybe biking tomorrow, in the morning we'll be dry. but in the afternoon, we have some showers rolling through. so you will want the umbrella. morning temperatures by 7:00 a.m. around the philadelphia area, mid-50s, by lunchtime we're back in the 70s. we could make it into the mid-to-upper 70s, but by 5:00 p.m. expect some showers to be around. temperatures cooling down by then in the upper 60s. some areas tomorrow could near 80 degrees. now, most of the area again dry for the morning, but showers in the afternoon. you'll need your umbrella later in the day. and once that rain clears, it's all part of a cold front. we're going to cool down big time as we go into your friday and stay chilly as we go through your weekend. here's what's happening with temperatures. normal high this time of year, 61 degrees. we've been below that to start the week. today we got to 70. tomorrow, 76. look at the drop going into friday. from 76 to 59 degrees.

it's going to be a huge difference as we go through the next couple of days. so just make sure you have the umbrella tomorrow and then the coat as we go intot end of the week. so locally we're still dry. no rain moving in right now. the closest rain is moving towards ohio, and that will be here again later in the day tomorrow. so your neighborhood high temperatures with that afternoon rain chance, fairmount, 76. reading and allentown could only be in the upper 60s because the rain is going to get there first. we'll see that earlier rain cooling things down first. voorhees township could get to 78 degrees. in delaware, we could see an 80. can't rule out the chance of a thunderstorm, but it looks pretty spotty at this point. 11:00 a.m. tomorrow morning, clouds increasing but most of the area should still be dry. there's that warm air still in place. now we're looking at 2:30. so it doesn't look like anything too impressive. i think we'll see some scattered
