klein-thomas is at 30th street station. >> how does it compare to yesterday when you were there? >> reporter: the crowds are coming in waves, but in terms of the sheer volume of people, it is better than this time yesterday. but when people still come, they're going to have to come and stand in lines. these lines don't last too long however. i talked to some passengers earlier, and they say some of their concerns are that especially as it pertains to late trains, when they look at the big board and see how late trains are, that's not always accurate. so they don't know when they'll get home. some say that's because express is the only mode of public transportation right now. they're making stops at all the places they may have passed before. but again, things are moving a little bit better than yesterday, police officers are here. septa personnel are also here, corralling the crowds, yelling

5:05 pm
the busses and the market frankfurt line, which runs right under ground through this stretch. as i have said, many of folks forced to use their cars during this strike, even local roads like this, you can see pretty gridlocked and really just crawling along as people come and go on the beginning of their evening commute. we'll be tracking it all from sky force 10, i'm george spencer, nbc10 news. >> blocking intersections too, george. on the ground, inside a vehicle, nbc10's tim furlong using the ride sharing service lyft to get a viewer home. >> how is it going, tim? >> reporter: tell us where we have gone from get from suburban station to get her. tell us the route here. >> from suburban station, we were pibled up by our lovely
5:06 pm
lyft driver and then we sat in a boat load of traffic trying to get on to kelly drive. we eventually made our way to lincoln drive, which has been bumper to bumper traffic. >> reporter: we're actually moving right now, this is sort of deceptive, which we were not moving at all two minutes ago. it was nicer when we were kind of stopped. when you see this traffic out here, compare this to a normal day, with no strike going on, what would be the traffic be like? would it be a lot better than this? >> this is unusual, it's just 5:00 and we have been stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. usually it would be clear sailing on this road. >> i got you snacks, well, channel 10 got you the snacks. but this is still better than the rail line? >> this is much better. looking at the line, when you saw me, i was nervous about first getting on the train itself and having to miss it and having to wait for the next one, which who knows how long that
5:07 pm
would have been. even if i had got on the train i would probably have to stand the whole way, and i'm at the end of the line, and that's a 45-minute commute to stand the whole time, which i would not like that. >> reporter: we're getting there, guys, we're almost at her house in chestnut hill. we got plenty of pretzels. >> taking it easy, helping folks get home. first alert traffic reporter jessica boyington. >> we have seen the roads, what about the regional rail? >> we're starting with the regional rails, actually seeing very light delays in comparison to what we saw earlier in the week for the last couple of days, the most i'm seeing right now is elwyn train, about 20
