record breaking turnout in the philadelphia area. look at this, in north philadelphia near kendall university campus, this line of would-be voters snakes all around this courtyard. and as we widen out, you can see it even snakes out on to the street. an historic election, now in it's final hours. >> 34 minutes. >> reporter: shortly after 11:00 this morning, andre curtis was keeping time, more than half an hour just to get to the entrance of his polling location. but on this day, in this election, the unexpected day did not matter. >> this election is extremely important to me and i think extremely important to the nation. >> reporter: this line along almost the entire block of broad street, full of voters willing to wait to do their civic duty.

minor issues. the first thing we heard was that the machines were not set up on time. >> investigative reporter mitch blacher has been tracking the vote and he's live in montgomery county. >> reporter: the main issue here in montgomery could have been are those absentee ballots here in montgomery county, we have been down to polling places in delaware county. the one surprise that we did find as far as problems at the polls was down in delaware county. jackie is voting in person for the first time in years. government work took her family around the world. >> we lived in belgium, we lived in puerto rico. my husband came this morning and said that one of the poll iing places were down. have you ever seen anything like this? >> never.

>> reporter: delaware could have been officials were able to erase the pen and get everybody back in service. we're told everyone who wanted to vote was able to. back in montgomery county, in person voting has been smooth thanks in part to volunteers like jeanette davis. the problem is with those mail in absentee ballots, about 85 hu8500 still have not been returned. for those who voted absentee for years, are voicing their frustration. the last chance for absentee ballots in moptd montgomery county was last night.

covering pat toomey, he's live in lehigh county. >> reporter: senator pat toomey expected to cast his ballot about 6:45 tonight a few blocks from his home, just about an hour before polls officially close. he's expected to answer who his choice is for president. that is a question he's avoided for much of this campaign season, and whether or not he will endorse donald trump. the critics are saying that by announcing this late, most voter also have already cast their ball ballots, not knowing where toomey stands. they have made multiple stops across pennsylvania. they do tell me that voters will pick pat toomey for his independent voice, they also criticized katie mcginty for her

mccain lost chester could have been, for donald trump to win pennsylvania, he has to winchester county and his opponent hillary clinton has to have a lower showing in philadelphia. the keystone state offers 20 electoral votes, which is the largest leading dem state. pennsylvania has elected three republican governors. that was the last time the state went red, electing george w. bush over michael dukakis. many experts predict the race for p.a. could be over. for the next 2 1/2 hour, i'm going to keep my eyes on county by county.

there's been a steady stream of people visiting a cemetery in upstate new york. they're paying respects to susan b. anthony. the cemetery has extended its visiting hours tonight to allow for more election day visitors. zipcar is offering free rentals tonight to encourage people to vote. zipcar will make 7,000 cars available to help people get to the polling locations to vote.

>> we saw from the aerial vantage point from george in sky force 10, just how long those lines were for people waiting to vote. they really don't have to deal with rain or really cold temperatures at all. >> and remember, we're in november, we have had snow in november, we have had really strong winds and cold weather and heavy, heavy rain, we're very, very fortunate to have such nice weather. because we're not getting another day like this for at least 10 days. in philadelphia, it was up to 69, we're still in the 60s across the rest of the area, we have got some high clouds, but they're not bothering anybody. a little bit of a light northwest wind and temperatures are in the 60s in most of new jersey, piles grove at 66 degrees, turnersville 66, a couple of spots in the 50s,

medford has dropped to 59 degrees, 65 in robbinsville, 60 degrees in princeton, 61 in lumberton. so as we go through the evening, instead of seeing the temperatures plunge as the sun goes down, remember the sun is setting right around now, and in a half hour from now, it will be totally dark. but those clouds prevent it from dropping much. it's in the 50s for the most part. some of the p.a. suburbs as low as 48 degrees. but that's still not all that chilly when you don't have wind. again, very fortunate with that. 69 degrees, we're dropping to 58 tomorrow, then more 60s thursday and friday, there's tomorrow, there's saturday, 59 degrees, and add some wind on top of that. here's comes the rain into ohio, so they're not getting a picture
