4:17 pm
similar to what they were yesterday. 56 degrees in philadelphia, but look at these beautiful skies that you see throughout the region. we have got more sunshine coming over the next three days, there's no real doubt about that. the coldest day is going to be saturday, it should be significantly colder than sunday, and yes, there is a possible nor'easter to affect the area on tuesday, that's several days away. we have got nothing on this satellite radar close by, lots of sunshine, we got clear skies and much of the country is dry, we have got more of that dry air coming in. that's why we're so confident that it is going to be sunny over the weekend. it's also going to be warmer tomorrow, the temperatures up to 62 degrees in fairmount, but look at the wind, 15 to 25, gusting to 35 miles an hour.

4:19 pm
this area of low pressure that's going to cover us over the weekend is going to exit. once it does exit, the storm to the south looks like it's going to develop, not too much question about that, computer models fairly consistent in bringing it in the general direction of up the coast, how strong is it going to be? how heavy will the rain be? too early for that. but it does look like it has the threat of some sort of a coastal storm during the day on tuesday, so just keep that in the back of your mind. but we'll update it as we get closer. windy and milder tomorrow, 62 degrees, then we have the big temperature drop for saturday, then the jump back on sunday, monday the clouds increase, tuesday would be that nor'easter affecting that, that's why it dropped the temperatures down into the middle 50s, and then we're back up to a little bit above average as we go through

now a special nbc10 responds focusing on our veterans. one of the ways we honor our veterans is by giving them certain perks. >> this is a situation, once we saw it happening, we had to really get to it. there are strict guidelines for veteran administration home loans, when we discovered one of
4:45 pm
those guidelines were being violated, we got to work right away. 44-year-old gary jones is a father, grandfather and army veteran. now for the first time in his life, he's a homeowner. he decided to buy after his land lord raised his rent from $900 to $1,000. >> i was like $1,000 and it will be there house? i'm going to buy myself a house. >> reporter: anthony russell said he faced similar circumstances with his rent. both men used this remax real estate office to apply for v.a. loans. what did you know about buying a house? >> nothing. >> reporter: and what they did know left them paying fees they shouldn't have to. they were charged both a brokers fee.
4:46 pm
jones paid $495. veteran purchasers may not, under any circumstances pay a brokers fee or a commission. >> when you come to me and you say i want to purchase a home, you would at that point tell me that i'm going to be using my va benefits. that's your trigger to me that there would be no fee allowable. >> i got screwed, i mean, because i thought that my agent was actually looking out for me. >> i served my country well, and why do you want to do something like that? >> reporter: we reached out to the remax office, and by phone he agreed to do an interview. we arrived and he was nowhere to be found. but he did send us an e-mail
4:47 pm
saying the charges were an oversight and provided copies of the checks he sent to jones and russell. >> thank you very much mr. hairston for helping me out of that. >> also an email marick sent was copies of three other vets that also didn't know they didn't have to pay a fee. for more on va guidelines, go to nbc.com and search for the story. marick also gave each vet a $200 gift card. and add that to our recovery counter and it now stands a $168,486. those guys never should have been charged that. >> if you have a consumer complaint for nbc10 responds,
4:48 pm
the number and website is right there on your screen. coming up tomorrow on nbc10 responds, a warning about not getting what you pay for. harry shows us about the small print on websites that can affect your bill. what a difference 24 hours makes. when we looked at this picture yesterday, you could barely see the tops of the buildings. and now that is a beautiful sight. the whole area is pretty much in the 50s. everybody's seeing sunshine today, some places closer to the 60-degree mark. redding is 506, blanton 56, allentown is 56. bethlehem 54, so is nazareth, so is easton, all of those plieses are going to be warmer than that
4:49 pm
and colder on saturday. we don't have any significant cloud cover around here or anywhere for 1,000 or more miles. so you know we have got some great weather ahead as we head into the weekend. the weekend is going to start off cold and then warm up. so take a look at that, today so far 57. tomorrow, 62. then it drops. then it goes right back up as we go into the beginning of next week. so with that, and the sunshine, don't get much better weather for football. kickoff temperatures 60 degrees, the wind is only 10 to 15 miles an hour. not too much of an issue. so we're looking pretty good. and as we go through the night, we're looking pretty good too. everybody's got mostly clear skies. it's not nearly as cold as it was this morning.
4:50 pm
by the time you get up tomorrow morning, we don't see those 30s, it's mostly in the 40s. even in allentown, 46, quakertown 43. they were way down into the 30s this morning. then going up into the upper 50s into the low 60s tomorrow. but cold front is coming through, during the afternoon and look at this, remember, we had highs in the 60s? by 5:00 in the afternoon, the cold air is starting to come in already. allentown 43, quakertown 43. exton and wedding 45. so we have got beautiful weather for the eagles. tailgate temperature in the 50s, the weekend is looking good, lots of sunshine both days, sunday up to 62 degrees, and lehigh valley goes from 48 to 58.
4:51 pm
so each day is going to be significantly warmer. there's the drop, saturday, there's the big jump on sunday, monday the clouds increase, and tuesday as we were telling you earlier, there's a possibility of a nor'easter affecting a good bit of the area. once that goes by, it's going to be drier after that. it's a call that's more than 100 years in the making. a big sendoff to a vet as he heads to washington for a very special invitation. that's next on nbc10 news at 4:00.
