fiery crash. a police chase ends with a multicar crash in south jersey that sends several people to the hospital. and it comes on the busiest travel day of the year. tonight we're watching the skies, rails, and roads. cyber monday deals. the holiday shopping season is on, and we're finding deals in unexpected places. >> announcer: nbc10 news starts now. right now at 6:00, a police chase ends in a multicar crash. it shut down a busy stretch of road in south jersey right in the middle of the busiest travel day of the year. good evening. i'm denise nakano. that crash sent several people to the hospital and stopped holiday travelers in their tracks. investigators say it all started early this afternoon in voorhees township where police were

pursuing a suspect. that chase continued into evesham township and ended with a crash involving seven vehicles at route 73 and evesham road. at least one of the cars caught fire. several people suffered minor injuries. one suspect was taken into custody, and traffic along route 73 was sloezclosed for several . as we mentioned, this all comes on one of the busiest travel days of the year. millions are heading back home after the holiday weekend, and tonight we're watching the roads, rails, and kiskies to he you get where you need to go. we begin tonight on the roadways. here's a live look at the new jersey turnpike. as you can see, it is bumper to bumper. there's a five-mile delay from interchange 1, the delaware memorial bridge. nbc10's aundrea cline-thomas has been talking with travelers. she joins us live in king of prussia. how is it looking out there? >> reporter: out here, drivers are telling us that it's really not so bad. that's confirmed by this

realtime traffic map. we just have a few incidents along the way where we're seeing the most traffic, though, as expected is around the new york area. but we're also seeing a lot of traffic in cherry hill, wilmington, down 95 headed towards baltimore. >> we're coming from queens, new york, to york, pennsylvania. >> reporter: the king of prus a prussia -- >> a little backed up here and there, but pretty smooth. >> reporter: according to the pennsylvania turnpike commission, this thanksgiving holiday is the busiest travel time of the year. 3.5 million drivers were estimated to hit the roads. >> it looks like it's going to get worse. if you do the google maps thing and you do the timing. but i left early to try to avoid that, and it's been pretty okay. but it was much faster on the way in. >> reporter: the commission is reminding drivers to be alert. slow down and obey the posted speed limit. >> in new jersey, i saw people

getting -- i saw eight people getting speeding tickets. >> reporter: there are patrols in pennsylvania too, making sure the drive home is a safe one. now, construction and maintenance projects were stopped for this thanksgiving holiday, but it's important to note if you still have not gone out yet, that those projects will resume tonight at 11:00. reporting live in king of prussia, aundrea cline-thomas, nbc10 news. a busy day at philadelphia international airport today. an airport spokesperson says there's expecting 86,000 travelers to pass through the terminals. most passengers began planning for their holiday travel early in anticipation of the large crowds, and it appears to have paid off. >> it's been a pretty good travel season. it's been busy, but i think most people are keeping it focused and it's not been super hectic. i think they're really doing a good job. >> triple-a predicts a record

3.6 million people will fly on monday. let's take a look at philadelphia's 30th street station. last year, more than 751,000 people traveled to and from holiday gatherings by way of amtrak, and similar demand was expected this year. here's a live look inside 30th street station. rather just a look. we found lines of people waiting to board their trains this afternoon. the crowds there were steady, and a look at the board shows most trains were on time. for those people who didn't take to the skies or the rails, how about the bus? hundreds of passengers waiting out the long lines outside 30th street station. we spoke to both incoming and outgoing passengers about their experience today. >> it's thanksgiving time definitely. i take these a lot. it's not normally this crowded. >> it was pretty smooth until we came to the outskirts of philadelphia. then there was like a lot of traffic, and i felt like just coming into philly it took an hour. >> despite the wait times, passengers we talked to were in

good spirits. well, mother nature is not causing issues for travelers, thank goodness, or anyone else today. we found people out enjoying the weather in rocksboro while picking out their christmas trees. first alert radar is tracking a one-two punch of wet weather that will bring some much needed rain. meteorologist erica martinez here with the nbc10 first alert neighborhood forecast. erika. >> we do have some rain on the approach but right now, pretty much things are high and dry. it's a little windy right now, denise. gusts anywhere between 15, 20, 25 miles per hour. if you look at the bottom of your screen, you will see your local neighborhood forecast. so right now conditions are dry, but i am certainly tracking the potential for some rain showers to get here soon enough. satellite and radar image picking up on not much right now. just a few clouds at best. current temperatures mainly in the mid-to-upper 40s. kensington at 46 degrees. port rich monds at 47. chestnut hill, 43, andorra, 42.

there is a deal out there for you. we're inside kohl's, and you can see they are promoting apps. they're giving out coupons that be used in store and online. there are some things you may want to touch and feel for yourself before you buy them. but in other cases, it's easier to click. in stores across the region, the holiday spending season has begun. the nguyen family came into this kohl's for khaki pants on sale. >> it looks like there's more than pants in here. >> we got a little more than pants. we couldn't resist the massage pillow and a few other things. what else did we get? >> are you someone who's drawn in by bargains? >> yep. >> reporter: right now, there are so many. 154 million people shopped in-store and online over the black friday weekend. according to the national retail federation. and get ready. almost that many, 122 million, are expected to click for deals on cyber monday. we found the deals go beyond

scarves and sweaters. the 76ers offering a ticket deal, and the philadelphia orchestra teasing a deal on its website. check your e-mail. there are a stream of coupons coming. >> i can go through and say i want to go here. i want to go there. so, yeah, i like looking at the e-mails. >> reporter: brenda johnson noticed something different about this year's deals. >> they started much, much earlier. >> does that mean you'll be finished earlier? >> no. >> reporter: back at kohl's sherry epps says she's 60% done with her list thanks to a new strategy of buying online and picking up in the stores. >> i ordered on actually thanksgiving. >> reporter: one snag. she says some orders were canceled because of inventory issues. >> despite that, do you think you'll try this again? >> yes. yeah, it's easier than standing in line out in the cold, you know. and we have kids at home. >> reporter: a trip to the store with the kids means you get to learn what they want. but with all the deals, it can also mean a full cart.

boulevard. officials say the project is to improve the bridge's drainage system, and that will take about a couple months. crews will be working daily from 9:00 in the morning until 3:00 in the afternoon. if you're driving through that interchange, you're urged to give yourself extra time because of lane restrictions. >> announcer: now your nbc10 first alert weather. i'm meteorologist erika martin, and right now satellite and radar image is pretty much dry. tracking some rain showers on the approach. neighborhoods right now, for philadelphia mainly seeing some mid to upper 40s. port richmond currently at 47 degrees. if you look at the bottom of your screen, you will see your local neighborhood forecast. otherwise it's all about the rain in the forecast. lehigh valley also seeing pretty mild conditions as well. the winds right now are really not at issue. they will start to kick up by monday into tuesday. otherwise, lehigh valley, notice, you're seeing lot of 40s. kutztown currently at 42 degrees. leonardsville currently at 41 degrees.

nazareth, 43. the suburbs also seeing low to mid-40s. collegeville, 41. el roy, 41. and north wales currently at 38 degrees. jersey, notice those milder winds. piney hollow currently at 36 degrees. coilfield, 42. lumberton, 42. mount laurel, 46 degrees. you all know conditions have been pretty dry for the past couple of days. if you look at the bottom of your screen, you will see your local neighborhood forecast. again, temperatures right now are pretty mild, but it's all about rain that's headed our way. much needed rain. we are in a rainfall deficit, so hour by hour forecast, starting at 6:00 p.m. there's a low pressure system developing out west. it's headed in our direction. overnight monday into tuesday, i do think we will see some scattered showers for the lehigh valley. late monday into tuesday. and then look at all this widespread rain to kick off your tuesday morning. so keep that in mind for your tuesday commute. and then that clears. however, we do have a secondary
