the place that has the greatest a lot of rain, cookstown 1 .71 inches, white hall 1.57 inches. we're now up to 60 degrees in parts of the area. 64 in parts of delaware, you saw all the fog, and we were down to a half-mile visibility in coatesville and less than two miles in blue bell. the biggest issue may end up being the fog itself. and meteorologist sheena parveen has more on that and the next round of rain. >> and for tonight we're going to see that heavy rain taper off, a lot of that heavier rain moving away, for the rest of tonight, we'll be seeing just some light showers primarily. as we go through tonight, rain tapering off, and the low

clouds, we already have those around, but as we go overnight, the fog is going to keep developing and it's going to become more dense which means lower visibility as you're driving, it will be a little bit hard to see. for tomorrow morning, we'll have dense fog for the morning commute. even though the rain is tapering off tonight, don't put the umbrellas away just yet. here's a look at future weather. right now we're seeing that heavier rain mostly offshore, along our new jersey points we're still seeing that rain. later on this evening, we're looking at lighter rainfall across partses of new jersey by 12:30, we're seeing things drying out quite a bit. but we do now there the thick fog. light showers in the morning, along with the fog and by 11:00 a.m. we can see the approach of some thunderstorms. the visibility will be dropping as we go overnight. now we're looking at 11:30 tonight.

georgia congressman tom price to head health and human services. he's been one most of the outspoken critics of the obama care health care law. we spoke with local doctors about how the president-elect's appointment could affect health care in the future. mr. trump's hunt for secretary of state has him meeting with mitt romney for a second time today. romney was the 2012 presidential nominee. romney was critical of donald trump during the presidential campaign. there is now controversy this afternoon about a detail from the president-elect regarding the burning of the american flag. nobody should be allowed to burn the american flag. if they do, in must be consequences, perhaps loss of citizenship or a year in jail. the supreme court ruled in 1989

that flag burning is protected by the first amendment. house majority leader kevin mccarthy said that there are mo plans for the trump administration to take action against flag burning. police announced a new reward in the case. 8-year-old jiana pool was walking home with her borother earlier this month when someone hit her and fled the scene. >> i don't get a prom, i don't get a graduation, no marriage, no grand kids. no nothing. so just turn yourself in. make it better on everybody. >> investigators have released a

soccer team crashed in the mountains. >> we now know this afternoon that at least six people survived that crash, three of them were members of the soccer team the plane was carrying. the plane went down during heavy rain, you can actually see the wreckage strewn cross the mountain side. the members of a brazilian soccer team were on board traveling to a game in columbia. video shows the team at the airport waiting to board their flight. members of soccer team real madrid held a moment of silence for the brazilian soccer team.

>> all brazilians this morning wake up with the bad news and everybody feels bad, so bad. >> one of the more incredible stories we're hearing is that a member of that soccer team who chartered that flight was hurt in the game so he wasn't ieven n the flight. he says his injury is the only thing that saved his life. we have new details about a woman killed by a septa bus in center city. she was pushing a baby stroller as she crossed 23 and chestnut streets at 5:00 yesterday at the same time the bus made a left on to chestnut. she died at the scene, the 9-month-old baby and passengers on board the bus are all okay. to control overtime

spending, engine 6 in wilmington's little italy neighborhood has been taken out of service. the city down to 20 firefighters right now. the firefighters union says it's time to hire more. >> it's a roll the dice -- it puts people's lives in danger and it needs to stop. >> we did reach out to the fire chief through the mayor's office, at this point, no one has responded to our questions. city residents elected a new mayor, it's unclearill police a a man broke into a bucks county home. police identified the man after they saw surveillance video of him in a car in philadelphia. here are the 9/11 calls made

after an attack at ohio state university. >> 911 what's your emergency. >> i'm at ohio state at watts hall and there is is guy shooting people. >> authorities say ohio state freshman plowed his car into a group of people. he then got out and began stabbing people with a butcher knife before police shot and killed him. he wrote on his facebook page that he was tired of seeing muslims killed and tortured. new video shows a pair of suspects wanted for an act of politically charged vandalism. surveillance cameras spotted two men walking through the fresh market at chestnut avenue on friday. if you recognize the men, you're asked to call philadelphia police. the white house says an announcement is expected soon on whether the u.s. will send a

delegation to fidel castro's funeral on friday. his younger brother and successor raul has visited the urn containing castro's ashes. tomorrow the urn will begin a three-day journey through cuba ending up at his hometown. the country saw cuba's former leader as a comrade as a former enemy of the united states. it's observing three days of mourning for fid deael castro. today district attorneys across pennsylvania took a step that we haven't seen in any other state. >> by having an independent

agency doing the investigation, you remove the criticism about conflict of interest or bias in the investigation entirely and you will get a better investigation. >> when shots were fired by police, chester county police tom hogan says an outside agency will come and investigate. and where a separate agency doesn't exist law enforcement agencies can rely on other counties or state police to investigate. so the public knows what will happen and how each case will be handled from the start. >> the officers on the scene should render aid. >> while it's poll city in chester county to get medical help right away, it has not been policy state or nationwide. he also says the new uniform approach will allow pennsylvania residents to obtain information

on police-involved shooting cases as well as get updates on the investigation. and that's because district attorneys are pledging to update the public right away and to continue updating them giving them correct or new information as the case goes on. also hogan tells us in cases where you have several police involved they will be separated after the shooting until they are individually interviewed from investigators from that outside agency. >> national guard troops are being sent to tennessee as several wildfires spread there. and we're getting some of the first video of the damage there. thousands of people near the popular resort town of gatlinberg have been evacuated. one of the fires is right at the edge of the dollywood theme park. the park hasn't been damaged but a dozen cabins operated by the park have been destroyed.

road crews in delaware county are working around the clock to kleclean up the leafy s in haver tourn. glenn "hurricane" schwartz will have the latest track on that rain in a moment. let's go to cydney long in hamilton township, mercer county. cydney, all this rain may be too much of a good thing for the garden state? >> reporter: it's a very good thing, in fact while many of us may not want to be out on this rain, raw weather. it comes at a good time. new jersey has been on the verge of elevated drought levels and having possibly to conserve water, the question is will today's rain will enough? a steady flow of ponding water

make sure highways are clear, some are working as a team. it's a bit of an uncomfortable battle where mother nature is taking no break. >> it's 49 and raining, it's better than being 9 degrees. >> reporter: dozens we talked to had that sentiment, they'll take that rain and today's mild temperatures all day long. we also checked in with hamilton county police asking if there's an uptick on slip and slide accidents, we're waiting to hear from them. >> okay so they'll take the rain now, but i guess they better get used to some more to come. >> we have a lot more hours of rain over the next 24 to 30 hours, it's not going to be raining all the time, but we do have more on the way.

we're going is to be seeing a lot of pictures like this, where it's tough to see the sky line of philadelphia, lots of drops on the windshields, lehigh valley, with the best weather cloudy and 65 degrees. as you can see, the heaviest of the rain has moved out, we're not really going to add too much rain during the night tonight during the rain gauge, this is mostly just light stuff that is patchy around the area, a little bit of drizzle at times. it's just not going to clear out. but we do have another area of moisture down near memphis, that is going to be factoring in as we go into tomorrow. we showed you the rainfall in the lehigh valley a little while ago, this is at the airport, just shy of an inch. this is rittenhouse, society hill, kensington 1.3 inches, and closer to that in dora a.

and the temperature has been rising especially in delaware, 63 in odessa right now, while it's 58 in wilmington, 66 in georgetown, many of these areas are going to be 70 degrees or higher tomorrow. the visibility is down a bit, coats town, blue bell, visibility is down to zero. 57 in philadelphia, by tomorrow mo among. here comes that next area of rain later on adventuriduring t morning. in the afternoon, that's when we have 25 possibility, and we also

have that possibility of temperatures getting up pretty close to 70 degrees. the rain threat continues into tomorrow night, and so not going to have to be able to put the umbrellas away for a while. so even in the cool spots tomorrow, let's say allentown 68 degrees, 66 in fairmount, newark, 67 degrees, and rehoboth beach, 71 degrees. and as we go into the end of the week, we're going to be seeing the temperature go down, but we start to dry out and then you can see how cool it gets saturday and sunday, and then more rain coming in next week. we have breaking news, a guilty plea from the driver from the crash that injured tracy morgan. he was a truck driver for a walmart and his truck crashed

and they're continuing to move out to sea. we do still have a little bit of rain in the area, that's generally on the lighter side and that actually may be breaking up some of the fog. it's when the rain ends that the fog is going to become more dense. there's that heavier rain offshore, and patchy areas of rain or light drizzle in the area. there's that ben franklin bridge. there are cars that you can almost see there. by tomorrow, you may not even be able to see this much when you tune in to bill henley. coatesville, 1-mile visibility now, they'll be around zero in the morning. also pottstown, blue bell, almost better quakertown and allentown where the rain ended a little bit earlier. dover ten miles, atlantic city at two miles.

investigative reporter bill spencer tells us that the controller is calling for changes. >> reporter: on this rain-soaked tuesday, we stopped by the intersection of ford and greenland drive, it's a place where investigators say a single pothole sat unrepaired for 473 days. it's the most extreme example that drivers like tyrone nixon feel. >> i busted a tire coming around this area before. >> reporter: so you experienced it personally? >> yes, and not just in this area, all or over the city of philadelphia. >> the nbc10 investigators prompted this review of pothole repair and response. we reviewed tens of thousands of records and sloppy recordkeeping meant some weren't closed out for more than a year. but after the review, the

controller recommends the street department better keep up with its 121 mile a year repaving goals, to prevent potholes in the first place. >> the city was assuring in future years, they're going to have to take care of not only past problems, but future problems. >> streets being resurfaced on a regular basis is going to make it so you have fewer defects. >> he's pleased with the 78% success rate for the city's three-day repair process. #. >> it's hard for the city to apply a standard of how long it should take. >> carol says that issue has also been addressed. >> the mayor's initiative to do management, i think we're going

to be in a good place. >> reporter: as for that routine repavering, the city says the funding is for that is largely out of its control. but city leaders plan on being back to meeting their benchmark in three years. we have this just in, a third person has died from the tennessee wildfires. tennessee officials confirming that information within the past 20 minutes. the fire has burned dozens of homes, forced thousands of people to evacuate the resort town of gatlinberg. dollywood officials say the park has not been damaged but dozens of cabins operated by the park have been destroyed. children can wear it on their wrist. >> and it can connect them to their loved ones during an emergency. >> the wearable safety device for children that's putting

cyber monday has past, we're now to giving tuesday. >> the idea of giving tuesday was launched in 2012. it's since grown into a global effort. last year $117 million was raised for charities in more than 70 countries. a south philadelphia school chose giving thursday to conduct a unique drive. the nonprofit organization called funds to organizes, will then buy the shoes when the drive is over. the money the school receives will be used to buy new equipment like smart boards and 3-d printers. of course it is the last holiday season for the obamas. one of the things visitors will notice is life sized replicas of the president's pups beau and sonny. and as always, the ginger bread

out by then. >> hopefully by then for us it will be good. >> tomorrow night in new york, there's a possibility of some thunderstorms, but by friday night, we're in really great shape. there's not going to be any rain anywhere near theone place not p toward the lehigh valley and the poconos, that's about the only place that is relatively drive. it's been an extremely wet day. but most of the rain has moved offshore. we're not going to add a whole lot to the rainfall totals based on what is coming in tonight. but this is just part of the next system moving up through memphis and bringing more rain to gatlinberg, tennessee, they need some more, they had horrible fires last night. we show you some of the rain totals in philadelphia and the lehigh valley, most of them over one inch. but in new jersey, not quite as

much. west collinsberg, three-quarters of an inch. so we have had a significant amount of rain, but not as much as, look at this, central new jersey, the area that needed it the most, the area in the severe drought, the area we told you was likely to get the heaviest rain, trenton over an inch, hamilton township, yardville, over one inch as well. it's princeton, 59 degrees in philadelphia, we have gotten up to 60 so far. don't see much of the skyline left. but you can see we have got rain and lower visibilities in most of the area and it is just a nasty kind of day. here's the hour by hour as we go through the night. we start to clear out. if we clear out, there's so much

moisture on the ground, those clouds are going to come back in. tomorrow, we're going to have more showers and thunderstorms coming through. there we are tomorrow night and some of that activity here in new york. but we're -- you see that? coming through tomorrow evening, we may end up with the heaviest of the rain that's left over tomorrow evening. tonight, we have the areas of rain, it's a mild night, very mild night, drying out, allentown and quakertown, with the rain continuing in tliatlan city tomorrow morning. we have a dense fog warning for atlantic city, as we go through the day, we have some thunderstorm symbols in exton, atlantic city, redding, all those places getting possible thunderstorms tomorrow, but everybody really warms up. it is going to be a warm day. but it's also going to be a foggy start.

his internet service nearly ruined his credit. daniel valvo says he had internet service with a company called wind stream communications, he tells us it was the only service available in his area. back in october, valvo moved and cancelled the service. >> they sent me a return slip for the modem and then the next month after we moved i got a bill from them. i figured it was a mistake so i waited. >> reporter: then he got the bill. he then sent valvo a copy of the return slip it sent him. but the company said it had no record of his cancellation. >> it was like talking to wall. the bills kept coming. >> reporter: valvo says that it

kept getting worse. >> i had collection agencies calling me. once that happened i contacted nbc10. >> reporter: we looked into valvo's complaint and three days after we called, he heard from wind stream. >> they said your bill is cancelled. >> reporter: wind stream said this was an oversight on our part and we have forgiven the bill. the take away here, whenever you can set the service, make sure the company gives you confirmation in writing that, confirmation should include the date and time you cancelled, plus the amount of your final balance. and if you're canceling on the phone, get the customer service representative's name so you can refer to that. our recovery counter is at 2
