right now at 11:00 we are getting the first look at a driver that struck an eight-year-old last month. good morning. i'm vai sikahema. a tip lead police to him.

what do you know about the suspect? >> reporter: a lot happening in the last 24 hours. we know the suspect was brought before a judge earlier this morning just after 8:00. take a look at that picture. this is released by police a short time ago. he was arrested last night following a passionate plea from the little girl's mother and for a reward. they found the damaged car they believe is tied to the hit-and-run that killed the eight-year-old. the girl was heading home from school and the drive are hit her and her brother but did not stop. it happened back on november 18th. he says it came down to one big tip. >> the individual that runs the

body shop got suspicious and called us up. we were able to match up some of the auto parts. it is absolutely the car. >> and the suspect is in jail right now. he is facing several criminal charges including homicide by vehicle. bail was set at half a million dollars. i'm matt delucia, nbc 10 news. new details this morning. a homicide arrest expected soon in the death of a two-year-old boy. the boy was found unresponsive in kensington. police responded to his home after his mother and her boyfriend called 911. the two-year-old has bruises and a liver injury. the boy died a short time later at the hospital. >> i was crying all day. it is sad. so i just want to know what happened.

that's all i want to know. >> detectives questioned the boy's mother and her boyfriend. both are in their early 20s. police searching for a white car. a chase and deadly crash. authorities say there was a shootout around 7:00 last night. one of the cars crashed and killed a person and exclusive surveillance video you can see a man who emerged from that black car. they arrested oolt man as well. the second car sped away. >> it is an absolute tragedy. this was a forcible felony. it doesn't get bigger than shooting at somebody. >> anyone with any information on the case should give police a call. investigators in atlantic county are asking for your help to find a man who killed a person in hamilton township.

he was pronounced dead at the scene. police have not released his name. they are waiting for autopsy ru results. if you have any information you're asked to call police. sky force 10 over an accident involving a car and tractor trailer near route 141 in new castle county. at least one person was hurt and a lot of fuel spilled. traffic was backed up for miles. no word yet on how this all happened. speaking of traffic let's get a check on the roads with jessica boyington. >> we are watching 95 but a different portion of 95. that accident scene around delaware has cleared out of the way. we are watching some slowdowns here. 18 minutes not too bad but speeds are in the 40s because

there's construction crews moving around in this general area. you'll see a little bit of a slow down. also watching an accident on jenkintown road. we were dealing with a lot of sun glare. major delays heading westbound. 14 minutes in both directions. about a minute of an increase for your drive time there. this is 76 in new jersey right around market street. this traffic is moving northbound towards philly. you can see no delays there. if you're heading over the bridges watch on the westbound side of the ben franklin bridge for construction. we are losing some lanes there heading into philadelphia from jersey. earlier a scheduling has already passed. back to you. >> thank you. this morning we are getting our first look at the man who police say bit two philadelphia officers who were trying to arrest them. this is cesar orteg ancha.

officers saw him trying to break into a car. when they approached him he tried to run. he bit the officers during a struggle. both officers were treated for their wounds and released from the hospital. well, the rain has moved out and the sun is shining. pretty nice start to the month of december. we take a live look. nbc 10 glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here with our forecast. >> yeah, quite a difference. we can see the skyline of philadelphia. it is 53 degrees. temperatures not really moving very much over the next several hours. most of the area has a lot of sunshine. temperatures in the upper 40s. these are the winds now. it's really picking up. wilmington sustained wind of 23

miles per hour, 18 in philadelphia and 20 in allentown. it will be a windy archfternoon. it is officially 63. it occurred in the middle of the night. tomorrow 51. saturday 49. that's almost exactly average for this time of the year. it's just going to feel kind of chilly because we have had those three days where temperatures have gotten to 60 or above. as we go through the night tonight temperatures dropping down through the 40s. nothing exceptional through this time of year. it is in places like chester and montgomery county. lehigh valley 38 degrees. that's by 10:00 by tomorrow morning. it lab lot colder, of course and much of new jersey barely above 40 degrees. we have colder air coming in. the ten day forecast and the

next round of rain is coming up in a few minutes. >> all right. we'll see you then. an arsonist in the act. a surveillance camera caught on the bicycle riding up to the rear of this home monday night. he is seen striking a flame and then minutes later the home's garage is on fire. the man road off. no injuries were reported but police think the arsonist may have suffered burns or damage. >> a new jersey judge is now expected to decide by tomorrow if a special prosecutor will be appointed to investigate christie from misconduct. he argued they both have a conflict of interest. they all ultimately answer to the governor. he got another judge to agree there is probably cause. they sited evidence in the

federal bridge great trial. people living many month come ri county can learn more about the 11% property tax hike during two hearings today at 11:30 this morning and at 4:00 this afternoon in norristown. the increase would add about $66 to a $300,000 home. radnor township, they can use the app to pay for parking and it will send a driver a text message when the parking session is about to expire. cross victory lap, a look at the president-elect's thank you tour and why he'll kick it off in the state of indiana. up next, the super star who is pledging to support the

we are following breaking news out of florida. they say a robber is holding several hostages at a bank. the latest information is that 11 hostages have just been

released. a sheriffs office spokesman says that a 911 call indicates someone may have been shot during the initial robbery. police investigators and negotiators are on the scene. we have been told that 11 hostages have just been released from this bank. we'll continue to monitor the situation and bring you information as we get it. police in washington shot to death a man they say shot and killed an officer hours earlier. you can hear the exchanges of gunfire between the suspect and the officers. the first shots rang out last night when police responded to a domestic disturbance call. a long stand off as they used two children as human shields. a sher liffs deputy shot -- the s.w.a.t. team safely rescued the

children. clean-up is continuing. the mayor says the town could reopen tomorrow. nearly 24 hour of rain helped knock down the fires which killed at least seven people. so far the fires threatened dollyworld amusement park. the singer announced she is providing a thousand dollars each month to families who have lost their homes. they are cleaning up throughout the south after a line of deadly storms ripped through more than a half dozen statements. we are in northern alabama with more. >> reporter: today the governor of alabama will be out to survey the damage. dozens will be digging through what's left. they say it was an ef-2 tornado that tore through this town. it was on the ground for less than two minutes.

severe weather in the south yet again. >> it is 20 feet up there in the tree. >> lightning, torrential rain and possible tornado in south carolina after a deadly outbreak of twisters throughout the region. >> about 30 seconds later everything hit. >> james benson and his family barely escaping after a tornado ravaged their home. >> i'll be okay. >> in tennessee another twister, the young family salvaging keepsakes, losing almost everything. >> i told my husband, there's a tornado coming. there's a tornado coming. grab the kids. >> more than six states in 48 hours. at least five killed, dozens of structured damaged or destroyed. in georgia high school students

sing christmas songs after they were forced to take shelter in the hallways. this morning several people are still hospitalized. some of them have critical injuries. the national weather service says 34 tornados are now confirmed in seven states and the city of bloomington tennessee confirms that one of the volunteer firefighters his and his wife were the two people killed in yesterday's tornado. nbc news, alabama. and the same front that came through the south brought the rain and gusty winds and lightning last night. now we are left with a lot of blue in the sky. that we have not seen in a while. temperatures are generally in the 50s. warmer in the jersey shore. we are in the 40s and pretty

much going to stay in the 40s for the rest of the afternoon. redding at 48. cooks town 46. allentown 47. easton 50 degrees. so just barely. watch what happens here. as we go through the afternoon the temperature doesn't go up like it normally does because colder air is trying to come in. by 6:00 we are down to 47 degrees. that's in philadelphia and then we go down from there. the wind gusting 25 to 30 miles per hour in parts of the area and the wind is going to be gusty for the next six hours or so. it was gusty last night too. here is 11:00. this line of very heavy showers. some real downpours coming through with a second line after that. so we had several shots of pretty heavy rain across a good

bit of the area last night. it cleared out pretty nicely and we are left now with no precipitation at all and some -- just a few clouds up to the north and west. the temperatures this afternoon about where they are right now. here is allentown of 49 degrees. by 5:00 it is already going down. we'll be in the 30s before midnight. here we are. 37 allentown. at 11:30, by tomorrow morning we are down near the freezing mark. winds may be a little bit less. tomorrow during the day we are barely getting out of the 40s even in the philadelphia area and then down to near 30 degrees by saturday morning. so it's going to be a chilly weekend. nothing too exceptional for this time of the year. for the christmas tree lighting for tomorrow it will be on the

chilly side compared to what we have seen. a little bit breezy but nothing too exceptional for this time of the year. the general trend is for the temperatures to go down a little bit each day. there is dover going down. high of 49 on sunday. allentown high of only 43 on sunday and temperatures gradually going down as well. you don't see any precipitation in any of these forecasts all the way through the weekend. it is going to change next week or get into the timing and also when much colder air than this will be coming in. all right. we'll see you in a little bit. still ahead, slippery when wet, what forced the game to be postponed and what the team is telling its fans.

this is the man that drove the car that struck and killed an eight-year-old last month. paul woodland was charged with the girl's death this morning. recent news reports that lead police to the suspect. matt delucia is live at police headquarters with more. >> reporter: the suspect was brought before a judge just after 8:00 this morning.

they told us they have got their man and the car he was driving. take a look again. that photo released by philadelphia police a little while ago. this is paul woodland. he was arrested last night. a report of damage to a car that matched up to the description issued by police. here is some video of the damaged car. the driver hit her and her brother and did not stop. investigators matched the broken parts found at the scene with the car that was at the body shop. all of this follows a plea from the girl's mother earlier this week, a plea for tips and information. reward money have reached $45,000. the suspect is behind bars right

couple of days. temperatures still a little bit above average for the beginning of december but way below where we have been. 53 in philadelphia. we have some parts of the area not in the 50 degrees. there is more cloud cover and delaware 56. we are talking about low 70s yesterday. wind gusts 25 to 30 miles per hour. wilmington gusting to 28. we'll see some gusts over 30 miles per hour today. tuesday and wednesday 60 plus. today's official high will be 63 occurred shortly after midnight. the next couple of days pretty close to the average of 50 degrees for this time of the year. so as we go through the night tonight a little bit of a breeze. temperatures dropping to kind of typical levels for early december.

it is 38 degrees in burkes county and lehigh valley. by 10:00 tonight getting closer to the freezing mark by morning. as you can see we have clearing skies as we go through the night tonight. we'll see if that lasts through the weekend plus our first real shot of winter cold coming up. president-elect donald trump and vice president-elect mike pence will head to indiana today. they will announce a deal to save nearly a thousand jobs there. those jobs were slated to move to mexico. the president-elect will launch a thank you tour at a rally in ohio. today wisconsin is expected to begin a recount. jill stein is leading recount efforts in three states. a hearing on pennsylvania's recount is set for monday.

city attorney set to meet as they investigate anti-trump. this shows one man spray painting the derogatory phrase. the other man took a picture. they confirmed one of the men is duncan lloyd. >> it shows a lack of accountability, a level of -- >> investigators identified the other man but have not said his name. >> buzz aldrin had to be rescued. he was air lifted from the south pole for medical reasons.

we have for clouds through the north and west than we do elsewhere. that is part of the reason the temperature is down in the lehigh valley. in delaware it is warmer but way colder than it was yesterday. we had some spots above 70 degrees. right now it's 53 in wilmington and it is 58 in milton. it is 58 right now. the current winds -- sustained wind is up over 20 miles per hour in parts of the area. it is getting a little bit gustier as we go through the day as expected. we'll see some gusts over 30 miles per hour in parts of the area. we have some downpours last night. 11:00 to midnight as one area came flu athrough and a second

came through even later. now we have just some of those fair weather clouds coming over the mountains. right now the doppler radar is clean and is going to stay that way for a while. as we go into the weekend it is going to get seasonably chilly. there is sunday. watch what happens as we go through next week. we have the first arctic air of the season coming into the country on tuesday up into the northern plains states. that will continue to spread eastward. by thursday it is chicago. we are still relatively mild. by friday and into saturday the arctic air is now over the northeast. we are not talking about anything brutal. compared to what we have seen it is going to be a lot colder. you shall see. 47 at 5:00 tomorrow.

44 at 7:00. a little christmas tree lighting for the good weather there. of course you want it to be on the chillier side if you'll go ice skating. as we go through friday, saturday and sunday the temperatures gradually going down a little bit. you don't see any precipitation in the area. lehigh valley sunday high temperature of only 43 degrees. so yeah, it will be feeling more like wintertime and more like december over the weekend. as you can see, those temperatures going gradually down. you get rain coming in tuesday into wednesday. thursday is relatively mild. friday high temperature may not even get to 40 plus we have strong winds. that will feel like wintertime. all right. thank you, glenn. the eagles are moving on after a
