change in the feels like temperature, because as the temperature goes down, the wind is going to go down. you saw some zeros down there, by tomorrow, we start going back up and by tomorrow afternoon, we may get a feels like temperature up to 20 degrees. >> temperatures will be cold enough for snow to fall and start to accumulate for some of the area into late friday night. we have a first alert out for snow and a wintry mix, pennsylvania suburbs and the lehigh valley very late friday into very early saturday, so that is one thing we'll be watching as we go across the weekend. as far as the early part of the weekend is concerned, that's when we'll see that changeover, from 11:00 p.m. friday to early saturday, with accumulating snow

and a brief icy mix causing slippery roads especially in the lehigh valley and that will be changing over to rain throughout the day on saturday. here's what future witness shows, here's the big area of rain, we're talking about 1:00 a.m. on saturday. remember, it's going to be very cold, so anything falling listen snow. in the lehigh valley, could get a bit of a break until moisture moves in. now we're looking at 6:00 a.m. saturday. rain primarily for south jersey and delaware. that's a brief, icy mix, snow through the pennsylvania suburbs and through the lehigh valley. then we go only into 8:00 a.m., we should see a lot of this lift up to the north so it changes a lot of that wintry mix over to rain, even philadelphia, even the pennsylvania suburbs, the icy mix moves up into the lehigh valley, this will be the case in

a juror has just found dylann roof guilty for the charleston church massacre. that verdict came in moments ago. >> the jury found dylann roof guilty on all 33 federal charges against him, including hate charges, a jury deliberated less than 2 hours. roof had confessed to killing nine black worshippers at a church. prosecutors said the self-declared white supremacist admitted he was trying to start a race war. the same jury will return on january 3 to determine if he will be sentenced to life in prison or death. he also faces the death penalty in a separate state trial that's set for early next year.

now on the transition to president-elect trump, the white house says donald trump should support the investigation into alleged russian hacking during the election. josh ernest disputes mr. trump's claim that he was joking when he suggested russia should try to find hillary clinton's e-mails. the kremlin is denying a report that vladimir putin personally -- a putin spokesman called it, quote, laughable nonsense. president-elect trump tapped retired lieutenant general keith kellogg. he also named fox news analyst monica crowley as senior communication.

medical center plans to lay off about 61 nurses. that's about 71% of its workforce. and new detail this is afternoon about a former penn state's victory over penn state university for the school's treatment of him after he testified that he saw jerry sandusky sexually abuse a child in a team shower. now mccreary wants to collect another $1.7 million in legal fees from the school. a burglar broke into a montgomery county restaurant in abing on the. police say the man later came back with a shovel, busted out a

window. a couple is suing a nearby golf course because about 50 golf balls have hit their home since october when they got a court injunction when they got the golf course to move some of its tees. the couple says the course should have done more. but a lawyer said the couple was gathering the bools in hopes the course will buy them out. the project is funded by donations from drexel alumni, students and class. workers at this store bagged up the coats to be shipped to gatlinberg, that shipment also includes hats and gloves as well.

time, accumulating snow, a brief icy mix and sop slippery roads. here's the timing, basically, saturday morning is it. snow to icy mix to rain, the rest of the weekend, drier and milder. windy and colder sunday afternoon. it's possible parts of the area could turn back to snow by sunday night. it's 22 degrees right now philadelphia, sustained winds of 24 miles an hour, barely 20 in the suburbs, the winds continuing, the average high temperature is in the mid 40s. last year at this time we had a record 69. tonight we're dealing with single digits to perhaps near zero. by noon tomorrow, we're in the teens, it's still very cold, but not quite as bitter cold as today. afternoon, similar story, and then we watch for the

precipitation, you're dry right now, and there really isn't much with this next system. you actually have to circle it because it's hard to see. middle of the country and up toward montana, that is going to lead up to this area of snow moving in later friday night and into early saturday, the best chance of course is farther to the north, by 6:00 a.m., you already have it warm enough for rain down south and that warming is trying to come up. but this area of pink, that is an icy mix. there could be some freezing rain or sleet for a period of time and that area shifts to the north as well. al by 7:00 a.m., still snowing in allentown, but not in the philadelphia, so it's still rain for extreme south jersey and much of delaware. it's changing to rain 6:00 to 7:00 a.m. you don't have to sleep too late to avoid this. if you sleep late enough, it

might all melt. but then this area of ices, that's a concern of mine, northern chester county, berks county, upper montgomery and bucks, and snow continues in the lehigh valley at 7:00 a.m., it's going to be rough. but around 8:00 a.m. it startings getting not ruff, in parts of montgomery to bucks county, but still dangerous up in the lehigh valley, that includes state college and that includes coming across north pittsburgh. anybody coming home from college tell them to wait until the afternoon. because the warm air is coming up, 8:00 to 10:00 a.m., even in allentown. watch what happens to these temperatures, here's saturday morning, saturday afternoon in the 40s, saturday night, we're sunday morning, 5:30 in the morning, 60 degrees. then we cool down again later on

during the day. how much snow? around an inch in the philadelphia area, up toward trenton and down toward wilmington, one to two inches much of delaware county, chester, upper bucks and montgomery, plus some icing up toward the lehigh valley and berks county, this is is area i'm concerned about but only a little bit in the early a.m. students got in the holiday spirit in germantown today, the philadelphia police department's 14th district hosted its annual kids holiday party, more than 100 students from local elementary schools, got gifts, fo good and a visit from santa himself. in south jersey, a celebration was held at a gloucester county hospital as

20 degrees colder, and that's before you add in the wind. right now, we're seeing increased clouds, in berks county, 15 degrees right now. coatstown 18. allentown 18. and it's just going to get lower. these are sustained winds, 20 to 25 miles an hour in a good bit of the area, and this is what it feels like, 7 below in mt. pocono, 5 in mt. holiday. it's even worse in the great lakes and the northern plains states, some of that arctic air is already in, more is feeding in during the night tonight and by tomorrow morning, we're feeling like it's close to zero, west chester, doylestown, allentown, vorhees, wilmington,

only feeling like about 4 degrees. but we're trying to warm up quickly towards the weekend and that's going to add up to some snow. >> we'll see snow and icy mix and then changing over to rain. for philadelphia, we'll see snow and wintry mix, briefly. for the pennsylvania suburbs and the lehigh valley, those areas seeing it a little bit longer. these are the sections under the first alert, friday around 11:00 p.m. we'll start to see the snow moving in. it's one thing to keep in mind, you're not going to be seeing it by 11:00 p.m. if you other in south jersey or delaware. it's going to move through by saturday morning and warming changing to rain. accumulating snow, a brief icy mix, and this will create very slippery roads very early in the morning on saturday before which finally do start to warm up. here's future weather, now we're

looking at 2:00 a.m. saturday morning, there's the snow moving in, lehigh valley, some of our pennsylvania suburbs, and then throughout saturday morning, we see more of the moisture moving in, here is the timeline for the area, mainly rain for south jest i and delaware, we'll see the snow and the icy mix briefly, between 6:00 and 7:00 a.m., we'll see things change over enough to see rain. lehigh va local and -- closer to allentown, and we'll see that up in the poconos, berks county, we'll see an icy mix. that quickly changes over to rain for our pennsylvania suburbs, 8:00 a.m., and for the lehigh valley, changing over to rain 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.

leave, we got precipitation coming in, that adds up to snow and maybe some ice in part of the area, that's why we have the first alert, the lehigh valley, especially chester bucks, montgome montgomery, especially. and philadelphia as well, but just for a brief period of time, 11:00 p.m. friday, and accumulating snow brief icy mix and some slippery roads. just for a little bit of time. saturday morning, it's a different story, sleep rate, stay inside, wait until the temperature gets above freezing and you'll be fine the rest of the day. snow to icy mix to rain, dryer and milder saturday afternoon. rainy and warm sunday morning. windy and colder sunday afternoon. the weekend overall not that bad. certainly not bad for travel or shopping or whatever, once you get past saturday morning. 22 degrees in philadelphia right now, 22 in delaware, you can see

these sustained winds near 20 miles an hour. feels like it's 3 below now in coatesville, 7 below in mt. pocono, 5 in philadelphia, mt. holly and atlantic city. and if anything, it's going to go lower, it's going to go down to zero in pottstown, 11:00 in doylestown and allentown. still single digits by 5:00 in the morning. it's not going to get any better until about 9:00 or 10:00 tomorrow morning and then it will feel like it's in the teens so it's not going to dramatically change. we have more on our radar close by. this system in the middle of the country and out in montana, that's going to combine and race eastward and produce some snow. coming in late friday night and early saturday morning, okay, it's cold enough to start as snow, but it's not going to last. warmer air trying to surge up from the south. at first, it's going to warm up

and you get this potential pink area, potential icincing. but even allentown gets out of the snow and into rain, 9:00, 10:00 in the morning. that's all you got to wait. but the mountains back here, central and western pennsylvania, i wouldn't be traveling across that until saturday afternoon either because they're going to clear out later than we do. saturday afternoon could even by dry, then comes more rain on sunday, potentially heavier rain, but those temperatures are like about 60, at 6:00 a.m. sunday in december, 61 in mt. holly and in millville. as that area comes in, the temperatures start to plunge, it's back to 45 degrees, by 11:00 a.m., how much snow, not a

whole lot, about an inch in the philadelphia area, a little bit of icing, one to two, much of chester, montgomery, bucks county, a little bit of icing too. 2 to 4 inches upper bucks. that could cause some significant problems for a brief period of time and 3 to 6 in the poconos. look at these wild temperature swings, so tomorrow night, we're 25, by 11:00 a.m. saturday, it's 28, by 11:00 p.m., it's 62, 62 by 5:00 a.m. sunday, then the temperature starts to plunge again. that is wild. we do not often get changes like this from 27 to 62, in a two-day period, and even in the lehigh valley, 26 to 49. >> crazy weather. all right, well, a long island woman accidently throws

thousands of dollars in the trash. >> can you imagine? but thanks to some sanitation workers she got it back. the woman called her son after she realized that $5,000 for her mortgage payment was missing. her son who works for the sanitation department, he got his co-workers to search through all that cash and found the wallet with the money in it. >> good guys. speaking of another one. santa claus of course still isn't due to arrive for more than a week, though. >> but he made a stop today for a very important reason, that story is straight ahead.

little kids who are anxious to wake up on christmas morning, we are 10 days away from christmas. santa arrived in norristown this morning. >> he was joined by police officers as they stocked the shelves of the salvation army. >> reporter: making a grand entrance on a flatbed sleigh, santa and his helpers had a special delivery for the school veg salvation army in norristown. law enforcement officers from montgomery county unloaded toys and food they collected. in its 21st year, the drive is a
