they say they are not positive he is the person that was behind the wheel. >> they say they are looking for the gun that killed the truck passenger. the police force says they are investigating in all directions. six of the 12 people have been identified and all are germans. they are treating the attack as an act of terrorism. there has been no claim of responsibility. president-elect donald trump is blaming isis but there is no evidence to prove that claim. they are going over every piece of debris. they believe the driver was hijacked and stabbed and shot to death in the cab. flags are flying at half staff as a sign of mourning. we have the latest on the world's reaction to the attack. >> reporter: police this morning towing away the truck that last night was a mass murder weapon when it was driven in a

murderous rampage into a christmas market. this morning conflicting reports about a deadly truck crash after a semi trailer plunged into a crowd monday killing 12 and injuring dozen of others. a suspect seen here was arrested and being detained. he turned up in berlin in february and applied for asylum. however this morning the newspaper is quoting a senior police chief as saying we have the wrong man and therefore a new situation. a passenger in the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. he is believed to be the original driver of the truck. police say the driver crashed into the crowd intentionally.

the truck hurled into that market with deadly force. a happy christmas market turned into a nightmare. authorities say no one claimed responsibility so far for the attack. christmas markets in berlin are closed today in a sign of respect. i'm ann thompson. back to you. security is tighter at philadelphia's christmas market after the terror attack. >> monique braxton is live next to city hall. you have been speaking with people there so far this morning. what's the feeling? >> reporter: so far everyone is saying it is bitter cold out here. they are rurk shing to get to we ever they need to be. the shops are just beginning to open at 11:00. when i first learned about the attack i thought about philadelphia's own christmas village usually packed with shoppers. this village now surrounds city hall. you may recall at one time it

was in -- we found police on foot patrol and others arriving. i did some digging and found many cities are increasing their police presence since the truck plowed into shoppers at a busy christmas village in berlin. we found video of a growing memorial placed where one dozen people died and 48 others were injured. police commissioner says they are take precautions but right now there is no credible threat here. >> we have some additional personnel. you know, around city hall you have the pillars that kind of surround the area. that's an added safety measure. we are optimistic. we don't want to alarm people unnecessarily but we'll be out there.

we will talk to some of the shoppers at 11:30. >> thank you. philadelphia police trying to figure out how a woman ended up with a severe head trauma. officers were flagged down after she found another woman laying on the road. the area where she was found is fairly secluded but police tell us they are asking businesses about a block away for surveillance video. a south jersey man accused of killing his estranged wife is on the run. they are asking for you to be on the lookout for him. his name is jeremiah. they found his estranged wife dead yesterday morning inside a home on raymond drive. police say he was last seen driving a 1994 s-10 pickup truck. he was last seen driving the

pickup truck with the license plate kp 91-gjv. if you see him you are asked to call police. it is 11:06. the final full day of fall is upon us. we take a live look outside at the jersey shore. not a lot of people enjoying the shoreline there. >> that last day of fall will be colder than the first day of winter. we are just starting to get near the freezing marks. 25 degrees right now in lancaster. 31 at the philadelphia airport and 30 in dover. atlantic city is at 34 degrees. as you step out you notice this morning it was another cold start to the day.

things will be getting better as we move along but not for areas like mount pocono. here is a look at the radar and satellite. some clouds are rolling through. we are really focusing on temperatures for today. as we move into your afternoon we are looking mid-to upper 30s for high temperatures. we drop back down to the low 30s by 6:00 and overnight into the 20s again. here is the good news. if you want the 30s to return tomorrow is the day for that. the cold air mass sits over us. as we move along here it will start to shift off to the northeast making way for more mild air to move in and that's in time for christmas. coming up we'll take a closer look into that holiday weekend. >> all right. we'll see you in a few minutes. thank you. a woman trying to defend herself but accidentally shot a security guard will not be charged and the woman's son is speaking only with nbc 10.

this all started yesterday morning around 6:00. the walmart was trying to go into a save a lot. one of the bullets hit a store security guard in the leg. >> if you have a family it gives you more reason to protect yourself. if it has to be a gun it has to be a gun. if you have to use it, use it. >> they found prater with the woman's purse. he is charged with rob rhode island th-- robbery. the driver went around cones and hit him.

the driver did stop. new video this morning of an armed robbery at a center city dunk i dunk -- dunkin donuts. deadlines here for packages to make it in time for christmas. post office made it through the busiest day of the year which was yesterday. they are trying to get everything delivered on time. friday is the deadline for priority express. ups is deadline for second day air is thursday, next day air is friday and today is the last day for express save shipments. you can wait up to christmas for same day shipment. here is a live look at the new york stock exchange where the dow is creeping closer to the 20,000 mark.

the man accused of setting off bombs in new york pleads not guilty. he is accused of trying to kill police officers before they captured him. he is accused of setting off a pressure koomer bcooker bomb ink city. today a federal court will release copies of documents that helped reopen the hillary clinton e-mail investigation days before the presidential investigation. the fbi found clinton e-mails belonging to anthony weiner. fbi director james comey say it contained no evidence of wrong doing by clinton. a judge ruled the public has a right to see a copy of the fbi

today 37 for philadelphia. need about 48 for your wednesday and 47 on thursday. in the suburbs from mid-30s to 46 on thursday. we'll see a system try to pass. it looks like we won't be able to tap into much, if any, rain. mostly cloudy conditions for your thursday. by wednesday up to 44. same deal, just a small dip in temperatures but still going to be on the warmer side compared to the last few days. in new jersey 38 degrees. wednesday at 46 and there's that cloud increase through thursday. that's okay for the shore as well as delaware. increasing clouds but staying dry as we move through the next several days. it is pretty mild heading into your holiday weekend. for your christmas eve forecast temperatures are going to be great especially as you await santa returning.

police now say they do not know the man they have in custody is responsible for the attack. >> they say they are still looking for the gun that killed the truck's passenger. the head of the police force is still on high alert and investigating in all directions. six of the 12 people killed have been identified. we know they are all german. they are treating the attacks as an act of terrorism but there is no claim of responsibility yet. president-elect donald trump is blaming isis but has no evidence to prove that. the attack killed 12 people and injured nearly 50. merkel and other senior officials laid white roses at the site of the attack. they signed a book of condolences at the church.

down this morning. syrian tv shows 60 buses lined up in eastern aleppo. they are there to pick up remaining 3,000 evacuees. new video of a deadly crash that tied up traffic near chicago. two semi trucks collided south of the city. one person was killed. some drivers say they were stuck for almost three hours in freezing temperatures waiting for that traffic to clear. it's 11:35. in north carolina a state law could be off the books by the end of the week. it requires people to use public restrooms that match their birth gender. opponents call it discriminatory. a special legislation is expected to be called today to

repeal the law. and new charges in the investigation into the water crisis in flint, michigan. they announced charges against two former state attorney managers this morning. they joined nine others who had already been charged into the flint lead tainted water system. the water became contaminated because it was not treated for corrosion for 18 months. the new york stock exchange is flirting with a record today. it is up about 63 points. it is possible the market will rise past the 20,000 mark today. michelle obama opened up to oprah winfrey in an interview. she answered a question about her own future role in politics. >> reporter: opening up like never before about her eight years at the white house.

he was gunned down yesterday while he was given a speech during the opening of an art exit. they a -- exhibit. more tightened security here in intan bu istanbul. this is after not just the ambassador was gunned down but also in an incident a few hours later. an older man with a shotgun tried to enter the u.s. embassy, was not able to get inside and was able to fire his weapon into the air. motivations are unclear. the motivations of gunman who killed the russian ambassador are quite clear after he opened fire shooting him from behind. he said that this act was to avenge the people of aleppo. he was killing the russian ambassador because of russia's role in the joint russian syrian

we get ready to move into the afternoon. still a lot of us below freezing. it is 29 degrees. princeton at 30 degrees currently. you get out there and about to take your lunch break. it is still cold out there especially into the lehigh valley. it is 27 for redding. here is the good news. if you're tired of us saying 20 we are looking at numbers that are much warmer in the days to come. radar showing temperatures bump up a few degrees compared to

yesterday. a high of 36 in trenton. also right around the upper 30s to close to 40 degrees. it will be the same in southern delaware. 37 for smyrna. wilmington at 38. let's start with the warming trend. looking at the numbers over the next few days. average is 43. we were below average. today we'll be below average. 37 is the forecast temperature. there we go your wednesday, thursday and friday. right on into the upper 40s boosting us to above that 43 degree mark and interestingly enough we are starting off with a warm cell for the start of the

winter. i know this is the weekend if we were going to have snow you really want it. it might be a little rainfully rainy at times. notice the temperatures keep rising. friday in philadelphia we are at 48. saturday at 52 and by sunday 54. models are starting to pull back on the chances of rain. this is not a wash out by any means. a lot of toys you will give the kids will be easily used. we are looking at showers moving through. around 50 for friday, saturday and mid-50s for sunday. here is a look. over the next ten days we stay on the dry side here. no showers for your tuesday, wednesday, thursday or friday. upper 40s moving in.
