>> i'm jim rosenfield. cedarville is a town that is so small, fewer than 800 people live there, but it is also the hometown of jeremiah, accused of killing his wife while their children watched. police found his truck in the woods but have not found him. denise has the latest. >> reporter: the search for jeremiah lasted several hours in a back wooded area not far from where his truck was found. the search complicated by high brush and the onset of darkness. >> it was -- you couldn't find a quieter town. >> reporter: the silence so many here are used to in this one traffic light town disrupted by the search for a wanted man, jeremiah monell. he is accused of murdering his estranged wife in front of their children. >> i heard a lot of choeppers ad stuff around because we got the meadows, and there's a lot of places that he could go. >> reporter: the manhunt brought state police searching by air,

and teams were working on the ground near saw mill in cedarville. monell's pickup truck was found abandoned this afternoon. tonight police also searched the house where he used to live on main street and spoke with his former neighbor. people are taking extra precaution. >> i'm keeping the door locked where i didn't before. >> reporter: police say he stabbed his estranged wife to death in front of his son and daughter monday morning. brian dunn remembers his cousin, tara o'shea, as a loving mother who wanted to protect herself and her children from a violent man. >> he just had hatred in his heart to do something like this. especially with the kids in the house. >> i didn't see the restraining order, but she did have one. >> reporter: o'shea's best friend jen messick said tara was trying to start a new life for her children, but the pending divorce and custody issues kept her from leaving the state. >> she needs to be recognized for the amazing person she was, the amazing mom she was. >> reporter: state police

brought extra patrols to cedarville and are here stationed at the fire department. they're asking neighbors to be vigilant, to lock their doors, and look out for anything suspicious. in cedarville, cumberland county, i'm denise, nbc 10 news. overseas. isis has claimed responsibility for yesterday's deadly truck attack at a christmas village in germany, but tonight police are still searching for the attacker. prosecutors say a pakistani asylum seeker who had been arrested turned out not to be the it suspect and was released. the attack unfolded last night in berlin. a large truck jumped the sidewalk and plowed into the crowded christmas market. 12 people died, and dozens were injured. there was visible security at philadelphia's christmas village near city hall today. the market is modelled after the ones in germany that are so popular and with just five days until christmas it was busy today. choppers told us they're keeping their eyes peeled, but they appreciate the police presence.

new video captures the moment the fireworks market turned into a fireball just outside mexico city today. at least 27 people have been killed, and more than 80 injured. people within three miles are being told to evacuate. the cause of the explosion is not yet known. the same market also caught fire in 2005. an suv is sent tumbling into a crash on a road leaving one person dead and another injured. sky force 10 was over the scene at first avenue tonight. you can see the mangled suv and another car damaged. no word on the condition of the injured victim. the cause of the crash is under investigation. a fox county landmark goes up in flames just days before christmas. tonight a fire broke out at peddler's village that's a popular shopping destination. especially during the holiday season. >> nbc 10's keith jones is live at peddler's village. exactly where did this happen,

keith? >> reporter: jim, jackie, peddler's village is a popular spot in bucks county. street road is back here. this door right here, this is the st. jude's store, and to the left is a nut kettle. a local family owns that, and in speet of the damage, their livelihood may also be at stake. >> reporter: smoke pours into the night sky over popular peddler's village. two cars damaged. five workers and a toddler were inside. >> one of the co-workers grabbed the 3-year-old and she runs out. >> reporter: fire started in a popcorn machine. she couldn't put it out. >> i did -- >> reporter: comforting the devastated owner. dozens of firefighters contain the fire. >> her soul is in this store, and she has a very sick husband. it's the okay only income they will have through this time. >> reporter: charred sheets that look like shingles are dozens of family recipes for roasted nuts. about a half century old.

meteorologist glen schwartz. >> i think you'll notice a change as early as tomorrow afternoon. it won't be warm enough to ruin these. people were making snow at camelback and the other pocono mountains because it's going to be cold enough to make snow all the way through the weekend. it's cold right now, but not as coal as last night. allentown is 23. got down to 11 last night. coatsville and wilmington and dover, 27 degrees. atlantic city, 27. not quite as cold as it was this time last night, and the temperatures kind of leveling off. that's a sign that the temperatures are about to take a jump. wednesday, a little bit above average. then going on warmer than that as we head into the weekend. when you get up in the morning, yeah, it's going to be cold, but not as coal as it was this morning. i'll tell you, how much of a warmup we're getting this weekend and when there might be some rain in a few minutes.

the trump transition team is pushing back following a charity controversy with the sons of the president-elect. questions are being raised about whether they were planning on swapping donations for access to the president-elect. eric trump and donald trump jr. are listed as honorary co-chairman for the opening day 2017 event. a brochure obtained by tmz showed the donors who gave $1 million to the charity can get a photo op with donald trump. the trump transition team released a statement tonight saying trump's sons are not involved in any capacity. some police officers from cape may county will witness history when donald trump takes the oath of office in exactly one month. six middle township officers will join other local officers to provide security in washington d.c. for the presidential inauguration. it is the first for the department. >> since i heard presidential inauguration security detail, i had to be one of the first ones to sign up for it. >> police tell us authorities in

washington are covering all expenses for the officers, including their salary. closing bell range on yet another record day on wall street. the dow jones ended just 26 poi points shy of 20,000. that marks the dow's 17th record close since the presidential election. the nasdaq and s&p 500 were also both in the positive today. experts say lower oil prices could lead to yet another record tomorrow. the turkish policemen who assassinated russia's ambassador was unlikely to have acted alone. that's the word from a senior turkish government official. this comes as investigators from both countries search for clues as to who might have been behind the killing. still images show the assassin standing over ambassador andre carlof's body after shooting him. it happened while the ambassador was speaking at a gallery in anchora yesterday. the gunman shouted that it was revenge for russia's role and

the latest. george. >> reporter: it appears this video was recorded sometime in just the past three weeks. officials say the terrorists want taliban prisoners erxchangd for this long-suffering family. >> it's been more than four years. >> it is a desperate plea in this propaganda video. york county native caitlyn coleman, her husband, and their two young children begging president obama to make a deal with their taliban captors before he leaves office. >> give the offenders something so they and you can save face and we can leave the region permanently. >> reporter: even pleading to president-elect trump as well. >> they really will not settle in until they get what they're demanding. >> reporter: coleman and her canadian husband were captured during a hiking trip back in 2012. their two little boys both born in captivity, never seen before until this video. >> to include children in the

microphone. new at 11:00. a news week reporter says someone tried to give him a seizure using twitter because of his criticism of president-elect trump. he suffers from epilepsy. someone sent him an image that included strobe effects that had the message "you deserve a seizure for your posts." he later tweeted saying "how have so many people become such sociopaths that they think it's okay to assault someone if they write political stories they don't like?" he is now trying to find the identity of the sender. people generally associate christmas with feelings of joy and merriment. >> but sometimes something happens that makes it hard to want to celebrate. ♪ nbc 10 holds a blue christmas service tonight. the church is one of several in the area hosting this type of service.

20 degrees. it's 21 in brandon. 25 in redding. 24 cookstown. 19 in merckstown, and also white hall is 20. easton at 23. remember, allentown is at 11:00 this morning. nobody is going to be there tomorrow morning. we also have some clouds coming across that's going to level out the temperature a bit, and clouds back to the west, but there's no precipitation for 1,000 miles or more. it's going to be quiet here. if you are traveling over the next couple of days, you're in good shape here because we don't have any significant weather systems coming. not even in chicago. we got a couple of snowflurries coming across new england, possibly early thursday, and that's about it. the temperatures are not all that extreme. you don't see any kind of storms of any sort. there we go with just a little bit of precipitation for the chicago area by friday evening.

the next couple of days we're fine. we're starting off the day pretty chilly. starting at 23. going up to 44. everybody was in the 30s today. we're all in the 40s tomorrow. about ten degrees warmer than today. that's pretty significant. for the giants and eagles playing, preseason football weather out there. temperatures dropping through the 30s as we go through the game. a little bit of wind. it's want going to be any where near as warm this christmas weekend as it was last year. we had record high temperatures three days in a row, but we're going to be above average as we go into christmas eve and christmas day. look at this. temperatures for christmas eve in the 40s. a little above average. any showers for christmas eve are going to occur in the morning. not during the evening hours or christmas day itself. >> all right, glen. well, coming up next, naughty or
