knew this would have been a safe spot. that driver has been with espn for 13 years and he's recovering from what's being described as a graze wound to the shoulder. all right now to our first alert weather, take a look right there. you see all that green on the screen, that rain is coming this way and it will be here for part of the weekend but it won't stick around for long. >> we do have the clouds that have already increased ahead of that area of rain and there's no doubt about it. it is coming in, it's also warm enough so that it is just rain, 45wilmington, dover, vineland and mt. holly. there are some clouds and there's the rain on the north side of that. but the atmosphere is going to be too warm around here to

produce any snow. as we go through the night tonight, the clouds thicken up, there could be a little bit of light freezing rain in the poconos as this starts. but this is rain, as you get up in the morning, it's rain, in the middle of the morning, it's rain at the shore by noontime, but north and west, we're already drying out. and once that rain moves out, it is clear sailing for the rest of the weekend. i mean it is going to be really, really nice. you can see the rain at 7:00 a.m., philadelphia, temperature way above freezing, still some possible rain another noon and even some sunshine possible later in the day. 36 degrees in some of the northern and western suburbs and even in the lehigh valley so not really anticipating any kind of problems other than wet roads for your morning. later in the day, things start to improve, we'll see how much warmer air is coming in and it will get warmer and if there's any more rain coming with the

rhe rest of the forecast in a few minutes. >> let's take a look from sky force 10, there at the cherry hill mall. let's count the vehicles there, too many to count with christmas and hanukkah just hours away, shoppers flocking into the store. >> it must be quite a scene at the king of prussia mall as well. >> reporter: actually statistically speaking, by thanksgiving, only about 9% of us have finished our holiday shopping. here at the king of prussia mall, we see it getting busier as the hours go on. behind the trees and lights and the line to see santa, shoppers like cindy jordan are skrcramb g scrambling.

>>. >> reporter: historically shoppers like cindy spend their money on gifts for their family. evan pence is shopping for his brother and his sister. king of prussia mall is evnjoyig its new season with the 5,000 square feet expansion. shoppers like cindy jordan are looking for as many options as possible. she's part of the 12% of the country that experts say will finish their holiday shopping until today. and the other people who are really impacted by the holiday season are those seasonal workers here at the king of prussia mall. they have hired staff up to 30% more than they have during the year.

july, but investigators say her mother wasn't cooperative and it took months to find the body. packer also worked in social services in northampton county. more than a half dozen families have no place to live after a fire that started just after 1:15 this morning at high and franklin street. firefighters found a man dead on the second floor of the building, the other residents did manage to get out. >> open the windows so it was hot, and i was just smelling a whole bunch of smoke, see a bunch of flashing lights, our girlfriend, she just went into our bathroom and everything just started coming up in smoke. >> the fire likely started from someone smoking. police are on the hunt for two men after they shot a woman in a home invasion in ke

kensington, police say they shot a woman in the arm and then left without taking anything. the woman's roommate and her 3-year-old softn were home at t time but they were not hurt. . a man in -- police said two officers in milan noticed someone acting suspiciously. it comes after isis released video which shows him standing in berlin and vowing to fight against what he called the, quote, crusader pigs. is that video was taken not far from where the truck slammed into a popular christmas market right there. 12 people were killed. dozens of others were injured.

a makeshift memorial has been set up victims at the site there. a heavy police presence is now also patrolling that area. here at home, philadelphia police officers are remembering their fallen colleagues this holiday season. the fraternal order of police offered a christmas breakfast to families of police officers who were killed or injured in the line of duty. >> it doesn't get any easier, you just learn to cope. this is just a nice thing what they do, how they never do forget us. that's huge, it helps us a lot. >> the breakfast is meant to serve as a remindser ther that

will never be forgotten. the 147th graduating what is of pennsylvania state received their diplomas today. president-elect trump said he is willing to engage in an arms race. statements came from both mr. trump and russia's president vladimir putin to strengthen their nuclear weapons. mr. trump said he received a letter from putin that said i hope that after you assume the presidency of the united states of america, we will be able by acting in a pragmatic manner we will be able to restore the frame work of bilateral communication. donald trump went on to describe the letter as very nice. a man shot and killed a child in a road rage incident has surrendered to police. he allegedly opened fire on to

the car last week after the 3-year-old's grandmother ran a- two women are under arrest in the shooting death in a robbery attack. dominique richter are being charged as accomplices the. a ban on nonhunting guns in delaware state parks and forests will continue. a judge ruled in favor of state environmental officials today. members of a rifle and pistol club filed a lawsuit challenging the ban, saying it violences  their constitutional rights to carry firearms. however the judge said the rule does not violate their rights since it still allows hunting weapons. a delaware county man who started out going to a neighborhood store but ended up in alabama is now back home with his family, but his truck is not.

jody tarbutton's daughter donated the truck to the town of haleyville, alabama. tarbutton was trying to stop by a neighborhood store on saturday, but he took the 900-mile detour. on monday the world war ii vet was reunited with his family. a water main break is continuing to cause problems for drivers in philadelphia. a water main broke on columbus boulevard on tuesday. the southbound lanes between queen and christian streets will remain closed as will the exit ramp to # 5. some american airlines flight attendants are fighting to get their old uniforms back.

nearly 2,200 complaints have been filed. american airlines says they're confident their uniforms are safe. this all comes as travelers get ready to hit the roads and the skies for christmas. the philadelphia international airport was packed this morning. 1.1 million people in philadelphia are kbhheading out town. i-95 where thousands will be hitting the roads in the next few days, moving los angelalong now. forget the sleigh, the international student athlete academy teamed up with the raheem ross fountain to spread cheer throughout philadelphia. they provided several local families with gifts for the christmas holiday.

a dog rescued from a philadelphia home has a new family this christmas. but the spca is still looking for a forever home for a dozen others. the delaware office of animal welfare said it was one of the worst neglect cases it has ever seen. >> some of them had really horrible skin issues, they were losing fur, clearly they were starving. they're just really terrified. so slowly, but surely, we're starting to get them back to where they need to be. >> the brandy wine valley spca says it needs experienced owners to care for the rest of the animals because they are in such bad condition. ♪ ♪ >> they look very happy.

p.a. has been celebrating christmas since 1751. early settlers named the town after the place where jesus was born. it's turned into christmas city usa. inside the hotel bethlehem, those decorations took weeks to set up. workers installed 31 christmas trees, nearly 41 wreaths and now the hotel is sold out for the big weekend. >> this is our time of the year to show what bethlehem is about. the whole town really pulls together for christmas. it's our time of year. >> local shop owners say foot traffic has been busy. >> anything christmas is popular here. >> reporter: the arabian bookstore has been -- but the one thing missing here is the chance for a white christmas, the snow that fell last week is

already nearly melted but families say just being together in this quaint christmas village is all they need to get into the christmas spirit. >> that's what it's about, just being with people you love and sharing in the feeling. >> down side here, bethlehem here not the only place that's not going to be enjoying a white christmas. >> let's get the forecast from nbc10 chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. it's just going to be getting warmer? >> temperatures are in the 40s right now, and we're going to be perhaps 10 degrees warmer than this. and even these temperatures are a little bit above average for this time of year. and we have to take a look at these temperatures as we go through the night. we have precipitation coming after midnight. and so some of the normally coldest areas have to be monitored hour by hour that's why we have neighborhood weather and all these weather stations

here. redding 42, fleetwood 40, now the difference between this and the storm that we had earlier was, remember, we had the arctic air in place and everything was frozen to start off with, now we have had milder weather, the roads are a little bit warmer so it will take well below-freezing temperatures to cause any freezing on the roads. we'll monitor those temperatures throughout the evening and be back at 11:00 and take another look at that. the clouds starting to thicken up. and here comes the precipitation, the rain is into indiana, just about getting into ohio. now let's close in on these areas, the poconos, and the lehigh valley and burks county, as we go through the night tonight. we'll have perhaps a little bit

of light snow through the pocono mountains, and in the lehigh valley, we're talking about rain, but really light in the early morning hours, and this area is likely to get the least amount of precipitation and it's all over with before 1:00. the wider view will show the temperatures and the precipitation moving in. in the middle of the night, you can see we're barely above freezing, and then it's chilly, yet the start of the day tomorrow, but it's warm enough that it's rain and some of the heavier stuff in delaware and south jersey, and you can see 9:00, the heaviest rain is toward the shore and temperatures not dropping, so it would still stay as rain during the day. and then going up into the mid 40s, perhaps near 50 degrees as we get a little sunshine late in the day, it's certainly going to dry out, you can see some of these numbers very close to the 50 degree mark, then as we go

into sunday, we're dry as well. how much rain? well, various commuter models showing the general idea that we get les rain to the north and more to the west. we start off with the rain in philadelphia, 40 degrees. then it's over with. the middle of the day, by late in the day, the sun starts coming out. so it's going to be a very variable type of day, depending on the timing, not so much the location. so tomorrow, once we get to 6:00, everybody's dry, by midnight, some midnight services, you've got temperatures at or above freezing, a little bit above average for this time of the year, and christmas day itself is going to be beautiful. we have temperatures in the 30s to start the day, and by afternoon, we're talking about

could potentially start as a little bit of a wintry mix, then they get rain, but it's not going to ruin anything, it's going to be fairly light in the poconos, i think. 42 in allentown now, 39 in coatesville, 35 in philadelphia, wilmington andover. well above the freezing mark and these clouds as they thicken, it will prevent the temperature from dropping a whole lot tonight. the moisture coming in is not that impressive, it's in pieces, so it's not a steady rain to start off with. even by 10:00 tonight, still just cloudy, but by tomorrow morning, not only is it raining, but the temperature is up a little bit in philadelphia. let's see if that's the case, this is bucks, montgomery counties, ooze we head to 6:00 a.m. everybody's starting to get rain, lehigh valley, parts of delaware and all the way through to jersey shore. the jersey shore really starting

to warm up after it stops raining in the morning. we want to update you on breaking news out of chester where a u.p.s. driver was shot on the job, that driver hit in the arm around 1:30 this afternoon just after making a delivery to the rite aid at 9th and highland. he was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay. now to nbc10 responds, a teen found what he thought was a great deal online, but after spending hundreds of dollars of his money, or money his parents actually gave him, he learned that the deal wasn't a deal after all. >> now he and his mom are sharing their story with harry hairston to help protect you. >> like some teenagers, sneakers are ian's passion. >> these are air force one. >> and his passion isn't cheap.

how much are these things? >> these are $100. >> reporter: ian has nine pairs of sneakers. just last month, he wanted to add to his collection, he found five pairs of nice sneakers for only $300. he said the seller's offer was really enticing. >> reporter: ian's parents had given him $300 more his birthday in september. mom said she was reluctant but wanted her son to be happy. >> i did it from pay-pal, thinking that we were safe, he gave me the money and put it into the account, thinking that if something happened that we were covered. >> she paid via pay-pal's friends and family option. she tells us, week after week after week, the seller promised to send the shoes, but they never arrived. >> reporter: all of a sudden you get an ah-ha moment.

what was that like? >> i was getting the feeling that we got scammed. >> reporter: she says she got more bad news when she contacted pay-pal to try to get her son's money returned. we reached out to pay-pal which says that he must use the goods and services payment option to be protected. he says he's learned not to believe everything you read online. >> she told me i shouldn't trust this guy and i didn't believe her. >> reporter: check with pay-pal to see if they list the seller as a verified merchant. it will charge the seller a fee for your protection. and transactions between friends and family are not protected by pay-pal. >> if you have a consumer problem for nbc10 responds, let us know, the best way to reach us, they're right there on your screen, phone numbers and the websites as well, you get too us and we'll get back to you.

the radio city rockettes are facing backlash nothifollowing announcement that they will be dancing at donald trump's inauguration next month. but the company that employs the dancers says it is voluntary. several of the rockettes have voiced their displeasure. but one dancer did not want to appear on camera and her voice has been altered. >> i think a lot of women are worried that because of the things that have been said from him that we would be sending the wrong message. >> much more on the rockettes interview at 5:00. president-elect donald trump

a new jersey teen is taking her fight to get on the basketball court to a different kind of court. the family is now suing the a h archdiocese of st. teresa's school. phillips says even the other players on the team are against it. >> want me playing on the team because they know i'm better than them. i beat them all the time in one-on-one. >> a spokesman for the

archdiocese refused to comment on the lawsuit. we are out in philadelphia oxford's circle. investigators say a gunman fired into a black suv, that apparently is the vehicle right there, he shot someone in the face. that person because taken to the hospital. so far police have not found the person who fired those shots, but you see the stareet closed down there as the investigation continues. starbucks is giving out holiday cheer by giving out free expre expresso beverages at stores across the country. the locations will change every day and will be announced on the company's website. ♪ chestnuts roasting on an open fire ♪ >> next at 4:00, the high school

vine, and 44 in summer's point. and this area looks like they're going to get the greatest amount of rain of any part of our region. you can see the clouds thickening up here, and the rain not that far behind. it's not a huge storm. we don't have tremendous rains with it. we don't have severe weather with it. the snow that's up in wisconsin now, going right up toward new york state, and canada and not coming this way. hour by hour, we're showing you temperatures generally above freezing throughout our area, the only exception may be up in the poconos, could get a little bit of light snow, or a little bit of a wintery mix, shouldn't amount to very much, because it's going to be fairly light and ending pretty quickly. but at the same time, it's ending at the jersey shore. and the temperature never does drop once the precipitation starts. and so once it ends, in the

middle of the day, the temperature will be able to go up to near 50 degrees. so a real nice end to the day tomorrow. and then christmas day itself is looking beautiful because we're going to have sunshine, we're going to have relatively mild weather for this time of the year. so unless you wanted a white christmas, most people will be happy with the way the weather turns out. as far as the amounts of rain, one competercompeter -- compute the idea is that there it's less rain to the west than there is in southern delaware. not everybody gets pounded, but everybody gets some rain. hanukkah and christmas on the same weekend, that doesn't happen very often. that's tomorrow night, temperatures in the mid 40s, and the wind fairly light. and as we go through the rest of christmas eve. midnight, for some midnight services, temperatures not all

that cold, not that windy. 36 degrees in philadelphia. 39 in delaware. christmas day is looking really nice as well. and you can see temperatures in the 30s to start the day, and getting up near 50 by afternoon. so that is some pretty nice weather for going outside with the new toys. you got that rain on saturday, generally just in the morning, above normal temperatures through tuesday, showers tuesday morning, then we drop somewhat on wednesday and thursday. and then the wind and real cold comes in for new year's weekend. okay, so how are you celebrating the eagles victory? >> we have seen everything from free coffee to wedding proposals. that's right, those stories next at 4:00.
