witnesses say the driver of the subaru didn't appear to be injured. now also witnesses tell police a female was seen running west on walnut lane bridge and west henry avenue. she was seen tossing what appeared to be a jacket off the walnut street bridge. canine and s.w.a.t. team members searched for about two hours, that's along the wissahickon river. we also saw evidence being removed from their car. police say they do think they have the jacket that someone saw tossing off the bridge. now the driver of the subaru sedan appears to be okay here on the scene. he was talking to detectives.

she just wrapped "star wars" 8, but she also struggled with drug addiction during the years. fisher also had ties to our area through her late father, eddie fisher was born in south philadelphia and made his debut on wfil. that was back in 1940, he died in 2010. many fans and celebrities have taken to social media to talk about the loss of carrie fisher. this from actor steve martin, when i was a young man, carrie fisher was the most beautiful creature i had ever seen, she turned out to be witty and bright as well. she reprised her role as princess leah in 7 and 8.

on what was to be a 9 hour and 36-minute trip. driving a silver toyota rav 4. reilly made it as far as luther glenn, virginia. spoke to store clerk joe anna strange. >> she said she was lost, she needed directions. >> reporter: and police say that encounter is captured on surveillance footage. it's where families are dropping off flyers and talking to people in hopes someone may have spotted her. >> i spent about 25 minutes with her in the store trying to research everything was okay before she left the store. >> reporter: relatives and neighbors said that reilly drove busses for 30 years and was an alert driver who always kept her

construction site in northern liberty sent one person to the hospital tonight. you can see the men here being pulled from that building after he fell about 20 feet through an open shaft. he was taken too the hospital with a number of injuries, osha has been called to the site to investigate. now a close call after a tractor trailer slammed into an suv and then a gas station in oxford circled this morning. the truck caught fire, it was just a few feet from gas pumps, and diesel fuel was leaking everywhere. firefighters were there in minutes and were able to get the situation under control. >> i thought that it was going to explode, i thought the whole thing was going to go up. >> a high volume of people and pedestri pedestrians and vehicles in this area, there's a lot of concern as to what it was.

new details about a fire in delaware county, nbc10 has learned that one person died in this large fire. fire crews were called to the home and investigators say the fire started in the garage. now to the transition to trump. the president-elect's plans to close his charitable foundation could be put on hold. according to the new york attorney general's office, the foundation is still under investigation and cannot legally dissolve until that investigation is complete. last week trump said he would dissolve the charity because of potential conflicts of interests. meanwhile mr. trump's transition team is back to work after taking a few days off for christmas. the team announced several important advisors for roles in international negotiations and homeland security. we have new video of

choppers in chattanooga, tennessee running for their lives after hear what sounded like gun fire. this is just one of several incidents across the country yesterday. you can see shoppers scrambling for safety and police tell us the sound was actually fireworks set off by a group of teens. officials say the teens caused the distraction to set up a shoplift i shoplifting operation. someone screamed gun during a fight in a new jersey mall. the noise thought to be a gunshot came from someone slamming a chair to the ground. several people were hurt. disappointment in philly and coltsville today, the city's application for pennsylvania's keystone application zone program have been denied. the program has been designed

colder air in, lehigh valley back to 63 degrees. odessa at 64 degrees. wilmington 63, very close to their record for the date, and in the 60s across most of the state, lewis, milton, lincoln, georgetown, mills borrow, harrington, dover all at 61 degrees right now. so we're with going back to december, typical december weather. today was more like october. we have got rain coming in on thursday, but north of philadelphia, looks like it's going to start as snow before changing over to rain. and new year's eve, chilly but on the dry side. we don't have any kind of clouds to speak from over pennsylvania.

here's the storm that's coming our direction. hour by hour, we're going to be seeing summer tomorrow, but it's not going to help anything, the temperature at this time tomorrow will be 45 in allentown, as opposed to their record of 60 today. so that's quite a drop. then by thursday morning, this is when this next system moves in, temperatures below freezing in parts of the area and it still may be coming down hard enough during the morning at least, especially the farther north you go, there could even be a bit of a mix in the philadelphia area at least briefly, farther to the south it's all rain, and as you can see the warmer air comes as we get the daylight hours and the temperatures go up and changes everything over to rain, it's fairly weak system as you can see. but you can also see the high temperatures, nothing like

>> philadelphia police are searching for a suspect that shot and killed a driver who was driving a suv near walnut lane when he was shot in the head. he then crashed into another car, the driver of that car is okay. witnesses told police they saw a woman running from the scene and threw what appeared to be a jacket off the walnut lane bridge. carrie fisher has died. fisher just wrapped "star wars" episode 8. the second of three new "star wars" films. she was 60 years old. the search for a south jersey woman and her great grand daughter continues tonight. 71-year-old barbara briley left her name with her 5-year-old granddaughter. they haven't been seen since. their last known stop was a gas station just outside of richmond, virginia on saturday night.

a cool billion. that's how many hours a week of unpaid care that family members provide to chronically ill children in our country. in addition, federal researchers say families also lose an average of $3,200 in income each year due to missed work. experts say paid leave or home visits by doctors would help ease the burden on families. laws legalizing marijuana for recreational use by adults may be having an impact on teenagers. a new study in washington state says that new users of marijuana went up as high as 40%. but in state where is the drug is still illegal, pot use among teenagers dropped slightly, so

on thursday, lehigh valley, snow to rain, it may be mostly snow the way its looking right now. and all through new jersey, and delaware, it's rain. as we go through thursday, we dry out on friday, that sets us up for chilly but dry new year's eve. 42 degrees for the 6:00 fireworks, 34 for the midnight fireworks, and in lehigh valley, 30 degrees at midnight. the mummers are going to be pretty fortunate too. they'll be in the 30s sunday up to 48 degrees. it's going to be drier across the entire weekend. there's the rain on thursday in philadelphia, remember, snow to rain to the north, dry, friday, saturday, sunday. but not next week, monday, rain, tuesday rain.

year's changes that will impact almost everyone in the state of pennsylvania whether you're paying is the tax as a driver, or -- a spot thousands of us pass each day. filling up the gas tank is a frequent chore for tracy ragsale. the 8 cents a gallon tax increase for wholesalers coming sunday will likely be passed along to drivers at the pump. >> it's going to hurt, but you got to go to work, you got things to do, so there's not anything we can do but deal with it. >> reporter: this marks the series of four tax gas hikes.

police are searching for a suspect in a deadly shooting. >> nbc10's monique braxton has been covering this story live on the scene. >> reporter: moments ago i did speak to police sources and they told us at this point, they are looking for a female person of interest who allegedly shot a male driver execution style and then took off running in this direction across the walnut lane bridge, for about four hours, this entire area had been shut down as a crime scene. a few hours ago we saw crime scene investigators take an item to their truck. we have since learned after an intense search under a bridge, a bloody jacket was located. sky force so captured this video of canine units combing the brush along the which is hiissa.
