been enjoying the morning snow showers. and we are dealing with rain and fog we'll take a live look. the winds will really pick up this afternoon. soggy day down the shore. it won't be a complete washout though. we will take a live look at the rae car. for most people it is rain and fog. we have live team coverage as we continue to track the rain and snow moving through the area. pamela osborne is live. of let's begin with nbc 10 first alert meteorologist erika martin. >> right now we are tracking some developing fog. as far as the warmer air and widespread rain showers we zoom on in we are not done yet. there is still enough cold air to sustain that change over to

we saw a variety of conditions. no rain at all and snow and right now a little bit of rain. >> a wintery mix on a winter day have parts of our viewing area cleaning up first thing this morning. >> it is just more of a dusting right now. >> in allentown we saw kevin shoveling up a little bit of snow. no big jobs but that light coating was enough to slow the pace of walkers and street cleaners on hamilton street. >> making sure i don't slip and fall and hurt myself.

this was here early this morning around the 4:00 time slot or so. we still have lane restrictions for clean up of that accident. another crash over in maple shade new jersey that occurred earlier now dealing with construction. the accident scene is clear. we have lane restrictions just around high street to get by. here is 95 for the first time today. starting to see a little bit of a slow down probably because of weather related roads here. 17 minutes down here. it is up into the 50s. this is near 79th street. just be careful getting on and off the roads. back to you. >> good advice. thanks. we have breaking news in the case of a murdered south philadelphia grocery store owner. >> she was killed on christmas eve this morning. police have a man in custody. we are live with more on the

break in the case. what do we know? >> it has been a baffling and troubling crime. as you said ever since she was murdered in her store on the morning of christmas eve but as of this morning the police commissioner is confirming his investigators do have a person of interest in custody and the district attorney's office is reviewing charges as we speak. nbc 10 was at the scene at that grocery store in south philadelphia several days ago. mourners paid their respects. in this murder we are told a man dressed in all black walked in and fired about a dozen shots. this morning commissioner ross said law enforcement is working to make sure there is receive evidence and probably cause to charge the person of interest they are holding. they told us this investigation was particularly challenging because of the bizarre nature of this attack against a hard

working 81-year-old woman. >> it is mind boggling to me. i can't imagine what would make an individual resort to that level of violence. it is downright evil when you think about it. >> i did ask the district attorney's office how long it will take to decide on charges. i'm told it simply takes as long as it takes and certainly in cases that are more complicated that process can take a bit longer. we'll be watching it throughout the day. that's the latest live at police headquarters, nbc 10 news. we are getting our first look at the mug shot of a woman accused of gunning down her exboyfriend as they drove through the neighborhood. they released this photo of westcot. police say she shot bruce in the head while the pair was driving in an suv driving along parkline

drive. he lost control and crashed into another vehicle. westcott ran from the scene and later confessed to the shooting. exclusive video at westcott's home. they believe she was livid over her break-up with bruce. . hollywood is mourning the death of debby reynoldreynolds. >> she died one day after her daughter died. fisher died following a heart attack on a plane. reynolds was helping her son plan fisher's funeral when she became ill aened was rushed to the hospital. she died last night. she was 84 years old. >> the classic 1952 film singing in the rain made her famous.

the movie tammy and the bachelor and she received an oscar nomination. you'll find photos of reynolds and her daughter. the driver suspected of driving under the influence. it crashed with another car and then hit a parked car. two people were taken to the hospital but police say they only have bumps and bruises. the fire marshal investigating four fires on the same street in philadelphia. smoke was still pouring out of this home in kensington just after 1:00 this morning. firefighters were working from the inside out. police tell us another home were also on fire. no one was living in the homes and no one was hurt. this morning investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire in university

city. it started around 2:30 this morning at 36th and lancaster. investigators tell us the fire may have started in the apartments above the bar. their prayers have been answered. that's what we are hearing from the family of a five-year-old girl and her grandmother that went missing. they are both in the hospital being which he could out. 71-year-old and five-year-old left their home on christmas eve. they were on their way to see relatives in north carolina and never made it. a man found them on his property. they car was stuck in the woods here off of the road. investigators were able to track a signal from her cell phone yesterday. it helped them narrow the search. >> they survived on juice boxes and snacks. they searched for days for the pair eventually finding

surveillance of her asking how to use the gps. >> when i heard she was found i was very happy and thankful because it has been very nerve racking to know she was missing and not hearing anything from her. >> she is a joy. we are so happy they are found safe and sound. >> they say it's still unclear how the pair ended up stuck in the woods. retaliation against russia, the plans to pushish russia for meddling in the u.s. election. we'll tell you about the sanctions that could be announced as early as today. we are on hatch watch. so many yies on this camera as we await the birds at any moment now. i'm tracking this back edge of this system that brought us snow. i'll have details coming up on

rain. satellite picking up on the screen here. if you look to the northwest region we are seeing purples and some pinks. that warmer air is sliding into place. current wind profile, we are seeing southeasterly winds. everything is getting warmer. even though the winds are not strong there is enough warm air to change everything over to the widespread rain showers. we are starting this at 11:00 a.m. we are not clear yet. here is your rain-snow line in pink. we are seeing a little bit of a wintery-type presip. everything will certainly improve and in fact you will see the sun later on today. neighborhoods for the lehigh valley, i want to show you how temps are climbing above the freezing mark. it is 34 for fleetwood. redding at 35 degrees.

we start to see the change over with that waerm southerly flow. a live look outside. there is not much you can see. we do have the warmer air pushing everything north ward. it will cause the fog to get a lot more dense but patchy across the region. it will start to improve as the sun comes out. keep in mind another few hours. if you look at the bottom i don't have your screen you'll see your neighborhood forecast. temperatures however looking better, above freezing and for 40s for most. kensington at 42 degrees. so look at that southeasterly flow across new jersey. this is why we do have warmer temperatures. turnersville currently at 42 degrees. we'll only stay in the low to mid-40s for today. that is seasonable for this time

person of interest in custody. police commissioner ross says law enforcement is working right now to make sure they do have sufficient probably cause to charge the man they are currently holding. mourners paid their respects at 6th and tie tan streeitan treat. the man walked in and fired about a dozen shots at the victim. right now the district attorney's office is reviewing charges against the person of interest. commissioner ross told us the investigation was challenging because of the bizarre and unexpected nature of this attack. >> it is downright evil when you think about it. at some point in time you knew you were firing it. you knew it was in that store and so it just is -- to me it's pure evil to do something like that. >> reporter: that was the scene

no one appears to be home here where the little girl lives. loved ones thanked everyone who prayed for their family. those prayers now answered. >> i was jumping around. >> this morning a t six-year-old is ecstatic after finding out her play mate is now safe. the girls are next door neighbors. >> they found her and i'm really happy because she came back. >> she and her 71-year-old grandmother were rescued last night in rural virginia. they had been stranded in the woods for days surviving on snacks and drinks. barbara briey was rushed to the hospital in serious condition. the five-year-old was reunited with a relative. >> i'm glad they found them and

reynolds passed away from a stroke. her son saying i miss her so much. i want to be with carrie. family and friends coming to grips from two different eras in hollywood. both fixtures in measuring's pop culture for decades. reynolds landed a starring role in singing in the rain. starring alongside song and dance men gene kelly. r reynolds became america's sweetheart. >> i was dancing for three months. i was hysterical. >> reporter: she would go onto showcase her range earning a best actress nomination for the

new year's eve safety reminder this morning. do not celebrate the firearms. they warned it could have dangerous consequences. what goes up must come down. one man was walking through south philadelphia in 1998 when a bullet struck him in the head. >> i can't believe that people think that once it goes up it gets sucked into outer space. >> and the person that fired the bullet has never been caught. a sheriffs deputy remains in critical condition after he was shot inside of a maryland home. they escorted the woman to the

house. a man opened fire with a shotgun and the deputy returned fire. both men were hit. the man who opened fire died at the hospital. an electrical fire forced at least 400 hotel guests to find a new room. the fire caused a power outage at the rio hotel. people were moved to different floors or other hotels. nobody was seriously hurt. we have a follow up to a random stabbing. police have a suspect in custody. they released surveillance photos and video from the attack. police say he followed a tourist on december 18th and stabbed the man in the back of the head without saying a word. the victim needed eight stitches. he is recovering back home in washington state. changing its dress code to allow for religious expression. the turbines must be navy blue with the nypd insignia.

right now. let's take a look at what you can see. less than 4 miles for allentown. less than 2 miles for potedne-- potstown. it looks a little better around delaware. everything will start to clear mixing out or lifting essential i for that fog. delaware currently 34 degrees. notice these temperatures are pretty mild due to the southeasterly flow. currently upper 40s almost approaching 50s. we are still not completely done. for the most part we are seeing the rain showers. everything is clear by 3:00 or 4:00 p.m. i do want to show you we get light flurries.

it is by about 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. tomorrow. we'll take back a little bit of moisture. tomorrow's temperatures mainly in the upper 30s to low 40s. bethlehem seeing a mix there. expect temperatures in the mud to upper 30s for you. we have a cold front approaching into tomorrow. actually feels like temperatures colder than this due to the fact that they will be strong. west chester 37 degrees. partly cloudy skies for you. not looking that bad. keep in mind it will be a little bit windy tomorrow. trenton 39. it looks like we'll see low 40s for the most part and delaware seeing low 40s in dover. your ten day on ten, there's so much to go over.

duo have all of this clearing from the southwest to the northeast. rain showers for the next couple of hours clearing by about 3:00 or 4:00 p.m. gusty thursday into friday. by this afternoon wind gusts will increase to 20 to 25 miles per hour. gusting up to 35 or 40 for tomorrow. now notice on saturday we are seeing partly cloudy skies. i think clouds will start to increase saturday into sunday. it looks dry. not going to be an issue. lows in the 30s. increasing clouds sunday into monday. could see showers here. going to see 50s on tuesday and we go into the 30s on friday. so that's lot going on. certainly a roller coaster ride. we do have more nbc 10 news. stay put.
