here comes the rain again. we continue to deal with rain and fog and snow could be in our near future. a father fights back just as his wife was putting their daughter to bed. and a look at the new republican congress and those who are likely to dismantle eight years of president obama's democratic policies. >> right now we are dealing with more rain this morning as we take a live look at i-95. the wet roads are slowing down drivers in many parts of our area. and a live look showing where the heaviest rain is sh

falling at this moment. nbc 10 meteorologist krystal klei is here is wour forecast. >> yeah. we warned of this yesterday. we said the rain would not be over on your monday. today is likely the day a lot of people had to go back to work and school and it was certainly a wet commute out there. here is a look at our radar and satellite. our entire viewing area is under rain. it will continue through your at least early afternoon. notice that the deeper greens and yellows indicate heavier rain. parts of delaware into parts of cape may and along shore point we are looking at heavier showers. this is indicating the most steady rain falling at some points. could pick up a half an inch of rain. we track farther along to the north even into burkes county we are seeing a steady rain coming

downright now. this is all going to continue tracking along to the northeast. still rain for the next couple of hours at the least. 44 in philadelphia. we are at 42 in the suburbs. the lehigh valley a little cooler at 39 degrees and also in the low 40s for delaware. these cameras are all gray and dark. it will be another gray soggy day even as we go into the later part of the day and overnight. this moisture will linger for us. we really don't dry out until your wednesday. here is that live look in philadelphia. it is a very gray outlook. we keep the rain around into your afternoon. 45 the temperature by 1:00. we should creep into the mid-to upper 40s for highs today. a little warmer by tomorrow. coming up we'll track the rest of the rain for today and we'll

in march she pleaded guilty in a sealed court case to one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering. pennsylvania could soon lose at least one voice in congress. a new report predicts pennsylvania could see one, maybe two fewer seats in the house after the census in 2020. that's because they are based on population. last year the state's population fell by almost 8,000 people. the number of congressional seats in delaware, new jersey are not expected to change. new this morning a car struck a girl as she was about to get on the school bus. this happened on route 9 in upper township. the girl was rushed to the hospital. no word on how seriously she was hurt. the driver did stop. police say the father of a young child fought back against home invaders. >> he got in a gun battle while the children were upstairs. we are live with more on what

happened and reaction from a neighbor. pam, you learned new developments in this investigation. tell us about i. rvlg >> reporter: yeah. we have brand new information regarding that home invasion and a possible motive. police say in addition to several shell casings and the body of one of the suspects they recovered a substantial amount of what appears to be marijuana inside of the home. shattered glass, bullet holes and bloodstains cover the front p porch of this home, all signs of the fight for life that unfolded just on the other side of this door. >> i was sleeping with my wife upstairs. i heard about six shots. >> it was about 11:00 last night when the homeowner, a 27-year-old man, returned home with his wife and four children. >> brought the four girls upstairs and was putting them to

bed. >> the girl's father answered the door and police say two men pointing a gun forced their way ib side. the homeowner was shot once in the mouth and once in the leg. he pulled his own gun on the intruders shooting one suspect dead in the living room while his wife and children hid upstairs. >> i have been here nine years and i haven't seen anything like that. i know philadelphia can be rough but on quiet blocks i didn't think it would happen. >> reporter: she is the neighborhood block captain. he says he knows the homeowner well. >> he is a great guy. he comes home from work and has his family there. >> reporter: we were there as police removed the young family from the home. >> they took the wife out and about five minutes later rumors

started cru started crawling out. >> the search for the second suspect continues. >> thank god that he is probably licensed to carry and he did the right thing. >> reporter: and you're looking at the house next door. you see that sign there? there is surveillance video and there are other cameras in the neighborhood that police are working to get a look at in hopes of identifying the second suspect that got away. the suspect described as being a tall thin male dressed in all black. i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. police searching for a pair of serial bank robbers. take a look at the two in action. they think they are responsible for four robberies in philadelphia and upper township. they are considered armed and dangerous. if you have any information or recognize the men you're asked to call police. there is a reward.

in south jersey a murder suspect in yal nearjail after h his estranged wife in front of their children. it ended a search which began a few days before christmas. they say he killed her at her home. we spoke to her mother on the phone shortly after the arrest. she told us she is still numb but relieved her family doesn't have to look over their shoulders anymore. >> i really don't think he deserves the death penalty. what i think he deserves is to go to jail and stay there for the rest of his life. what he did, god need to heal with him. >> the victim's mother would not say whether her five grandchildren -- or where they are but they are safe. it is a quarter after 11:00 now. parts of our country are dealing with much more after severe

the if 35-year-old was shot in the leg new year's eve when a gunman opened fire inside a club in istanbul. dozens of others were injured. isis claimed responsibility for the attack. severe storms claimed the lives of four people in alabama. flooding in the near by florida panhandle left one man dead there. part of alabama got 4 inches of rain on monday. and severe weather battered the alabama coast this morning. high winds blocked both and blew around trees. the storm turned one backyard into a river. the damage in that area is considered super official. >> and we'll start off by taking a look at the rain moving

through our area. we are looking at a lot of rain moving through. this is the time we expected it would move in. this is some of the yellows. this thing very quickly moved from the southwest of us up to our direction. now it's nice and quickly going to move on out. as it does so it will dump rain in areas. spots of heavier rain through delaware. the yellows, deep greens are where we are seeing a more steady rain. it extends into south jersey. you can see where it starts to get lighter. if we track farther to philadelphia we are looking at pretty steady rain at this point. some of the heavier showers are mostly focused over delaware and south jersey at this point in our late morning. here are the temperatures in philadelphia. because we have the rain that's moving through we have to check temperatures this time of year.

all of our conditions are rain conditions. not tracking snow or icing concerns. we are looking at the 40s instead of the 40 30s out there. 43 is where we are right now. right now the airport location 44 degrees is the official reading in philadelphia and 43 for fox chase. pretty constant here in the low 40s. i do expect we'll get to about the mid-to upper 40s by later this afternoon, but right now it's all about the rain and the clouds in place. here is what we are dealing with currently. notice it's showing up on our models some of those pockets of heavier rain. it shows pretty nicely where the heavier rain is mostly hanging. into the afternoon by about 3:00 we see the heaviest rain moving on out passing through and starting to move near new york. it leaves us with light rain.

from 3:00 some of the lighter areas begins to move out. maybe light drizzle but for the most part the steady rain is out as we move into your evening drive home. we do have clouds. by wednesday morning clouds are starting to break and it will be a nice mix of clouds and sun for wednesday. we do finally see some sunshine and drying. it takes until tomorrow to see it. here is a look at the temperature trend for us. yesterday we saw 43 degrees, the temperature that we hit barely above average. we should be at 41 this time of year. today forecasting high up to 48 and tomorrow up to 53 degrees. we are talking temperatures that are warmer than typical. take a look thursday into friday. that's when temperatures take the next plunge. it is 37 thursday and 30 for the temperature for your friday and that's your high temperature. now, on top of that come near your friday forecast we are tracking the potential of a

later, right? >> yeah. that's right. snow is in the forecast. that's a few days out. you do not need to worry about it today. today it's all about the rain across the entire region. we saw it yesterday too. it is no shock we talked about round 2 would be moving in. we made mention some of the heaviest spots. that's the darker greens and the yellows. we see it in the southern parts of our area. there is a closer look for you. we see a few pockets of heavy rain right now. elsewhere it maybe weakened just a tad. it is a steady rain that's falling across the board. it's starting to break over parts of delaware. what's going to happen is we will see lingering showers continue in your afternoon. it will extend to the northeast over the next couple of hours. let's track some of this rain. atlantic city pretty steady. it is lighter as we hit areas

farther north. still very steady, not quite as heavy but we are seeing the deeper greens indicating more of that constant rain coming down. what it means is roadways are certainly wet out there right now. it will continue the rest of today. here is your temperatures. obviously not talking snow because almost every valley is in the 40s and even 50s. atlantic city at 50. millville at 48. northeast philly at 44 degrees. really the only cool spot is farther north. current reports are mostly still around rainy conditions. it will continue as we move forward today. rain today in the forecast. not talking snow at least not yet. we are talking patchy fog with rain and moisture moving through. not terribly dense. you can drive out there but notice it is limited visibility. it is the best you can see.

we are at 3 miles wilmington. a half mile for allentown. also we are seeing some limitations along the shore but it is starting to fill out. we are going to see a break and a drying trend and that's also when temperatures will start to drop big time. we'll take a look at how low they go and look at that snow possibility coming up. >> all right. thank you. tornados have left a trail of damage across several southern states. >> we have more from alabama. >> reporter: the sun is up on another unusually warm day. temperatures today cracking 70. it was the warmth and the humidity yesterday which helped fire the storms. this morning tragedy in alabama. officials say four people were killed when a reported tornado struck sending a tree and power line crashing through their mobile home. seven people were huddled inside

seeking shelter at the time. damage in the area is extensive. that same series of tomorrows leaving a trail of destruction. in louisiana strong winds. buildings blown apart. this semi truck overturned. in mississippi a tornado reducing this structure to rubble. flash floods stranding motorists. near houston a close call for the family that live until this home struck by lightning. >> you could tell it was bad very quickly. >> we have a lot of power lines down. we have trees down. >> the city of jackson hit hard. >> you okay? you all right buddy? >> from lions to lemurs they are cleaning up. >> a lot of animals are under

stress. >> reporter: three tornados touching down and no fatalities reported since 1950 in january from twisters. back to you. >> new developments in a story that's gone viral. police are addressing a fight that was caught on camera between a 16-year-old girl an an officer. here is the video that someone recorded yesterday afternoon. police were responding to a fight in southwest philadelphia. just about 20 minutes ago police sent us an e-mail about this. officers tell us a teen ajd girl was speaking to them about what was happening. when a female officer tried moving her away from a brawl the girl started fighting back. police tell us the teen slapped the officer's hand and face breaking the officer's glasses. the officer grabbed the teen's hair and pulling her to the ground. if girl's best friend was there.

>> they slam her on the ground. she is 16 years old. >> that's awful. look at the officer and the young girl not backing down to the officer. >> police say the officer has bruces on her face and scrapes on her knee but she is okay. the girl was taken to the hospital because of pain in her neck. police tell us they are conducting an internal investigation. philadelphia police say a father used deadly force this morning to defend his wife and four children from a pair of home invaders. >> they say the victim was approached while his family was upstairs. we have details about what investigators found inside the house. pam, tell us more. >> that's right. the investigators are calling this a failed attempted home invasion. once they got inside they found

surveillance camera and there are other cameras in the area as well. police are in the process of trying to get some of that footage to see if there is video of this second suspect who is described only as a tall thin male dressed in all black suits. two investigations here, the search for the second suspect as well as narcotics detectives checking into what was found inside of this home. i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. >> thank you. police launched raids and arrested several people as a hunt for an attacker intensifies. we are seeing new video of the suspect. rnch the alleged terrorist filmed this selfie video.

it is being broadcast in hopes that someone will find him. after killing 39 people he ditched his coat and dropped his guns. they confirm that's him just after the attack near the club getting out of a cab. now without his jacket he didn't have any money on him. he walks away and isn't seen again. isis has claimed responsibility for the attack. turkey struck the government announced around 100 isis targets inside syria since sunday. but as police raided homes in istanbul last night the most wanted man in turkey remains at large. there was a small peace rally here this morning with people walking in front of the nightclub which remains closed, remains a crime scene. police say they have had enough

time to get to work. the incoming president's second in command says he will meet with member of the house and senate storm and talk about plans to roll back government regulations and repeal and replace obamacare. >> it's time to keep our word to the american people and to make this country great again and make it prosperous again. >> pence also said the transition effort would likely announce another cabinet pick in the coming days. about ten minutes before noon. ford motor company just annou e announced it is cancelling plans for a new plant in mexico. the company will add 700 jobs in michigan where they will build electric self-driving vehicles. they say ford is encouraged by the pro-growth policies that president-elect trump and the  new congress indicate they will

pursue. usc, a classic game that shattered records. take a look. usc wins it. >> the trojans seal as the clock ran out. the lions lead a two touchdown lead. the third interception of the game. it threw a rose bowl record five touchdown passes. it was the highest scoring rose bowl in history. the lions wanted to be on the winning end of it though. >> the thing i'm probably emotional about more than anything is last time this 2017 football team will be together, that game just tonight doesn't define us. it's what these guys did. it's how they loved one another, it's how they cared for one another. i couldn't be more proud.

apparent a little by. it is not the complete end of rain but we are seeing it break away farther south and more steady farther north. so let's track a little more closely in. still some areas of more steady rain. that's about i. everyone else is in the light to moderate shower zone. it continues as we track along shore point. now we are seeing more steady rain. we go into the philadelphia area. we'll see pretty similar conditions. more steady rain than a heavy rain. wilmington is starting to head our direction. it is tracking to the northeast. roadways a wet. it is still going on wet by later today if you're heading home into the afternoon or early evening. the showers will start to move on out especially if you have the 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. drive. by then some of the rain will

move out. here is your forecast temperatures later this afternoon. not going to see a bunch more warming. mid-to upper 40s is the best we'll be able to do. cooks town at 41. it is really only going to cap mostly where it is right now. in new jersey mid-to upper 40s as well. notice the icons. we have all been seeing rain as well. we are seeing spots in delaware. some of this rain starts to break in delaware into your early afternoon. here are your chances of rain. they really taper off as we go through the night. at 4:00 still spotty showers possible. really dropping off into the evening. most of it tapering off. areas into delaware, look at that.
