did not. one of the rails actually pierced the bottom of the train. some were carried away on stretchers, others seen holding ice packs to their heads. they say there was a loud bang and a jolt and then some people were sent flying. all of the injuries are believed to be minor. >> my head, my side was banged up but just shaken up, shaken up. >> they say the most serious injury was a possible broken leg. >> the response to the accident was fantastic. i want to thank all of the first responders, nypd, fire department because they really did a great job of getting on-site. >> tgof knothey say train servi

should be back to normal by afternoon rush. these images were posted on social media. people were taking these pictures and got these to us and have been posted on banjo. you can see some of these here and trains that are crashed. of course there with nbc 10 we are continuing coverage of this breaking news story. here in our area firefighters spent the entire night battling a fire. >> we are lye with the latest on the fire. pam, what do we know? >> reporter: i can tell you the fire marshal is here right now. even at this hour we are seeing water tanks going in and out of this property. one of the owners tells me the fire actually started in a building where they kept shipping containers. he says they are trying to determine how much was lost.

the fire broke out around 8:30 tuesday night. it continues to burn intensely even hours after it started. firefighters from 20 different departments fougt the fire through the night. they were able to keep the fire contained to one storage facility. the product packaged and waiting to go was completely destroyed. at one point fire officials say the steel roof collapsed making it difficult to reach hot spots. also making things difficult the location. firefighters had to bring in water for the fire fights. they prevented the fire from spreading elsewhere to several greenhouses. as we come back out here live you can see a little bit of smoke through the air there. there is pete moss that is still smoldering inside.

the cause of the fire remains under investigation. reporting live in the lehigh valley i'm pamela osborne, nbc 10 news. philadelphia police want to know who shot and killed a man in his apartment. the victims family found him in a bedroom. they say a separate bedroom appears to have been ransacked. they say the victim some times leaves the door unlocked. >> nbc 10 on the scene at south 4th street around 11:00 last night. you can see the crash badly damaged both cars. we are gathering details about what lead to the crash and if anyone else was hurt. new this morning an suv tells police slick roads caused him to crash into a school bus

in northeast philadelphia. it happened at academy and holyoke roads. 12 children were on the bus. the bus was from first philly charter school. the suv driver says that it pulled in front of him and he couldn't stop in time because of the road conditions. police are investigating. a carbon monoxide leak sent two people to the hospital early this morning. they responded to the leak in southwest philadelphia. the amount of carbon monoxide released was relatively small. a woman and child are at presbyterian hospital getting checked out. we are dealing with mild conditions this morning but a little bit windy out there. you can see the flag flapping there. krystal klei is here. all things considered, pretty warm for early january day.

clearing conditions. a few spotty showers. very light isolated rain near south jersey. this will be very short lived as it scoots on along to the east. it will pass and the cooler air will start moving in. we'll notice more wund di conditions as well. we pull this out. you don't see a lot of very scattered activity. i don't think any of that will make it to under the circumstances. it will be a dry and mild and windy day. as we shift into tomorrow cold air filters in. a huge drop in temperatures. we'll take a look at how low temperatures go and they keep dropping friday into saturday. we'll get to that and the potential for snow coming up. all right. happening today a south jersey man accused of killing his wife in front of their children is expected to face a judge.

he is accused of stabbing watson to death inside her home last month. the couple was with separated. their 12-year-old son and four-year-old daughter witnessed the murder. a neighbor called 911. >> oh, my god, she was murdered. >> it was a murder? what kind of injuries does she have, sir? >> authorities captured him after two weeks on the run. a judge yesterday dismissed the charges against snuka, the former wrestler. a judge ruld he is not ordered to stand trial. his girlfriend was found unconscious. doctors give him only a month to live. a frankford man will not

face charges for shooting an intruder but drug charges are pending. investigators say the 26-year-old man who lives here was shot in the mouth and the leg by one of two intruders. this happened while the man's wife was putting their four young dhoirn bed upstairs. the homeowner returned fire killing one of the suspects and the other ran away. >> i have been in this neighborhood nine years and i haven't seen anything like that. i know philadelphia can be rough but on quiet blocks i didn't think it would happen. >> thousands of dollars worth of marijuana was found inside the man's home. police want you to take a good look of the man they say robbed a drugstore at gunpoint. they say the man held up the store last friday at about 9:00 a.m. they hope someone will recognize the jacket or tattoo on his right hand.

if you recognize this man you're asked to call police. a federal judge ruled that the state should have him see a doctor and provide medications to treat his hepatitis c. they argued that jamal has not met criteria for treatment. he spent 29 years on death row for the murder of a philadelphia police officer. an appeals court reduced the sentence to life without parole. several people say it was a bad start to the new year. >> they say the bar didn't deliver on the party it promised. there were several complaints on the facebook page. most spent 90 to $300. they say the event was supposed to have food buffet and a live count down to midnight.

clayton at 50 degrees. lumberton already in the low 50s at 52 degrees. princeton already in the upper 40s. remember, we still have a little bit more warming to do before we start to see temperatures quickly drop. they will quickly drop once a cold front passes us. it will also bring in windy conditions. we'll bulk up on the clouds here for the next hour or so as the front continues to move through. the clouds will linger into your early afternoon. once the front starts to pass we clear out considerably behind the front we are seeing peeks of sunshine. some very isolated light rain. it may be able to make it into south jersey.

this is light, quick-moving rain. it is a dry day for us and those winds will be up with this front as well. looking at gusts up to 30 miles per hour. you'll notice the winds throughout the afternoon and evening especially. here are the temperatures we should cap out at later today. once the front moves through the temperatures will start to slip slowly. it is 51 in summerton. about the upper 40s for the le it's high valley. notice the icons. a little mix of clouds and sun out there. new jersey at 50. we saw already that we are at 50 there. we are getting close. ocean city to the low to mid-50s even possible through delaware. check out wilmington. 55 degrees for the afternoon

100 people have been hurt in a train derailment this morning. this happened in the atlantic terminal in brooklyn. it took place about 8:20 this morning. they say one of the rails pierced the bottom of the train. our sister station filed this report from the scene in brooklyn. >> reporter: a wild morning commute here at the atlantic terminal in brooklyn. as the train coming in passengers tell me they heard a loud bang and they were thrown into the aisle. >> i can't even explain it. >> everything flew, bodies, phones, everything. there was a loud bang. >> reporter: people couldn't move. there was as they describe it, controlled chaos. >> people were primarily

i was explaining. notice this next layer of clouds is going to move on in. it is actually ahead of the cold front. once the front passes us we'll see the temperature drop off. so these 50s will peak in the next few hours and as we go into this evening a big drop in those numbers. also it's a little few small areas of rain. it will be isolated rain at best. it is very short lived. today is a pretty dry day across the board. here is the 19 miles per hour sustained winds. gusts up to 30 miles per hour are possible. our temperatures peaking near the low 50s then they will start to drop off. we'll see numbers starting to slip back down. overnight we'll see 20s for lows by tomorrow morning if you have been missing the cold. here are the forecast winds i have been talking about.

reloading his weapon a half dozen times. the gunman is still on the las. police confirm the gun used was the same gun used on the suspect last month. they tested after anisse -- the driver of the truck crash into the market. it left dozens injured. they are trying to see if he used the gun in other kriems and trying to determine how he got it. happening now in south carolina dylan roof just wrapped up his opening same. it lasted less than two minutes. he said he chose to represent himself to prevent his lawyers from presenting mental health evaluations. roof did not ask jurors to spare

it is 26 degrees mid-to upper 20s and jersey shore tomorrow morning. we really do see a big cool down and then it just holds on thursday, friday, saturday, sunday and even monday. on the weekend we have snow potential. this will be thursday night once most of you are at home, chance of snow the jersey shore into delaware. some of us not even make it to freezing. same for your saturday and sunday. temperatures in your upper 20s to low 30s at lest. models trying to give us some snow. by sunday though we'll see more sunshine and temperatures still on the very cold side. we'll be right back.
