have died down. now we're still going to hold very cold overnight and into tomorrow morning but the very cold tomorrow morning will not be as bad as it's been the last two mornings. the warming trend is almost here. current winds are helping make it feel colder than it truly is. these aren't terribly strong but enough to make it feel colder which is why we got this feels like factoring in. not tracking any rain, any snow. the snow on the ground cannot melt because temperatures have not boosted above freezing but we're not adding anything to it. we will stay dry at least through tonight and into part of tomorrow. so there's the look at what it feels like tomorrow morning. feels like 12 it degrees in philadelphia, 11 in allentown. atlantic city at 18. that cold start. if you want 40s or 50s or 60s in

braxton, nbc10 news. >> rob still owns half of the home where the murder occurred. the neighbors say they're keeping an eye on him. during a recent court hearing he plans to move to pittsburgh. >> the suspected gunman in that deadly airport shooting is back behind bars tonight after making his first appearance in court. that's santiago in the red jump suit there leaving jail and heading to a hearing this morning. santiago is accused of killing five people, wounding six others in ft. lauderdale's airport last friday. now tmz has obtained video that shows the start of the killing rampage. you can see the gunman enter the picture in a blue shirt on the left. he reaches into his waistband, pulls out a pistol and begins shooting. >> investigators are trying to figure out how a dumb bell smashed through the windshield of a car on the new jersey

turnpike. the 75-year-old driver was seriously hurt and the turnpike shut down while police investigated. nbc10's drew smith is talking to drivers on the turnpike tonight. stay with us. >> securities are investigating bomb threats in jewish community centers including new jersey and delaware. people evacuated the synagog after someone called in a threat just before noon. similar threats have targeted jewish community centers in maild, south carolina, florida and tennessee. >> there has been a double tragedy in orlando florida. two officers were killed there today in separate incidence and tonight there's a massive search for the gunman who murdered one of them. authorities say he shot and killed a police officer as the officer approached him outside a walmart this morning. the suspect is wanted in the murder of his pregnant ex-girlfriend. the fallen officer's is

identified as debra clayton. she's a mother of two. >> clayton is a hero and she gave her life protecting the community that she loves. she will be deeply missed. >> shortly after officer clayton was shot a deputy was killed in a motorcycle crash while looking for the suspect. orlando's mayor called this an official day of mourning. here at home and all new at 5:00 a tribute to a falling officer and officers in general may be at risk in some new jersey communities. >> those towns painted a thin blue line on their road but now the federal government is taking notice. nbc10 news spoke to leaders trying to protect these tributes. >> reporter: i can tell you mayor brown here in evesham township that the thin blue line right here on new road at township owned road would cause a red flag where safety is

concerned or catch the attention at the federal level. still he says it's not going anywhere appreciation and respect for law enforcement on the lightly traveled new road in evesham and in towns across new jersey, local governments are recognizing fallen officers and the day-to-day work of police with a thin blue line in between the double yellow lines. evesham's mayor brown says it's staying put. >> we can set our own speed limits, we can put signage and traffic lights. we can do anything we want on local roads. >> sent a letter to a north jersey county saying it's against safety regulation that blue paint is intended for handicap parking not the center of the roadway. >> to me this is the height of ridiculousne ridiculousness. we weren't removing it. >> it's on a township owned road be side the police department not a countiy or state highway. >> would you not know where to

3-year-old son has been delayed again. today a judge moved the trial for david creato back to april. this is the video of the last time he was in court. his lawyer says he's still waiting on an expert report. prosecutors say he killed his son brandon back in 2015. >> there is now a $30,000 reward for information about a cold case murder in philadelphia. brandon baylor was gunned down in last philly. the family of the victim is putting up money of their own now to help catch the killer. >> there are a pair of controversies today in the trump transition, the first mr. trump is naming a family member trusted son-in-law jared kush ner to a top white house post. kushner who is married t trump's senior advisor. before he can assume that role he'll have to argue that a federal antinepotism law does

not apply to him and there's no conflict of interest when it comes to his family's multi-billion dollar empire. speaking at trump tower today the president-elect predicted that all of his cabinet picks will win confirmation by the senate. trump's pick for attorney general, alabama senator jeff sessions is first up. trump described session as a high quality man. hearings are set to take place without the usual background checks being complete. top senate democrat chuck schumer says trump's cabinet check must past background check and submit a detail final disclosure statement. >> governor tom wolf visited a small business there as part of his jobs that pay tour. he thanked the owner of jody natural foods of choosing to do business in the keystone state. the owners stay they're committed to growing the company

new at 5:00 the family of an 8-year-old girl killed in a hit and run is thanking two police officers for their support. pool wore a sweatshirt with her daughter's picture on it. she thanked officers for helping her fight for justice. she gave them plaques and dog tags for all they've done for 8-year-old was killed in november. she was walking home from school

holding her brother's hand as they crossed the street when a car hit her and kept on going. witnesses say she was thrown 20 feet. she died at the hospital. >> so it is just to show them that we appreciate them and we love them. rjs, you know, usually i'm not -- i'm not at a loss for words. you just see how when we all work together, it's just human beings and we all care for one another. this is how it's supposed to work all the time. >> paul woodland is charged with homicide by vehicle and involuntary man slaughter in connection with her death. >> crews repairing a philadelphia street where sinkhole swallowed two cars. the hole opened up along east boston straet in fishtown last night. a water main break caused by a broken sewer is to blame. two cars dropped into that crater when the ground gave way.

people could be without water and gas in several days. the cold weather's causing some problems for pipes too rjs th. >> workers were fixing some frozen and burst pipes. it's the thing to watch out for in your home even as the temperatures start to warm up. >> there could be a frozen and burst line in place right now that's not leaking because it's frozen. it's solid ice. once that dissipates and warms, then that leak will show up. >> one way to protect yourself turn off the line to the faucet for the house -- to the hose outside of your house. >> the bitter cold was hard on drivers too. by 2:00 this around, 1,400 people in the philadelphia five county area called for help from triple a and that was just today. half of those calls were for dead car batteriesment the triple a may get a few more

and princeton at 21. very low 20s, feels like teens. when we go through the night those numbers drop off. it feels even colder. here's your radar and satellite. the view shows clouds in place. we are not tracking any snow and we're not going to be at least not for a short period of time. then we will see a change across the region by tomorrow night. here are your neighborhoods tomorrow afternoon. cloudy conditions out there in philadelphia. notice the temperatures, finally above freezing. 39 degrees for fair mount. look at the suburbs here. 37 degrees. freezing rain potential would be in the evening. as we go through the evening a system is going to pass.

wintry mix in the lehigh valley. allentown at 34 and the same for easton. 34 degrees. then we look in a new jersey, 39 robbinsville, newark at 40 degrees as well. also note those overnight temperatures the lows that are seeing into tomorrow morning. we are still cold will you see, 11 degrees in parts of new jersey, 14 for parts of the shore. as we go into tomorrow we get final to the upper 30s. that's after two days in a row in the low 20s. you get to thursday, check that out 65 degrees. if 20s aren't your thing. we'll have 30s and 40s and 50s and 60s. as i mentioned the chance for rain or in some spots an icy mix. hour by hour for us as we go through the rest of your monday evening here just seeing some of

that's the damage from a 50 pound dumb bell. >> and that dumb bell claim flying into a driver's windshield during the morning rush. the car was on the new jersey turnpike in salem county. police and drivers are baffled about how this could have happened. >> drew, this really has drivers worried? >> reporter: people are so shocked because you don't expect a 50 pound piece of metal to come flying at you. we just checked with the state police and they are asking anybody who saw something on this turnpike during the morning rush to call them. they're actively trying to figure out if this was an intentional act or just a terrible mistake. the investigation into how a 50 pound dumb bell crashed right into this windshield above the driver seat has sent investigators searching from the damaged suv into the surrounding rural area. >> sounds terrible. unless somebody going to florida like i am and had a bunch of stuff in the car or in the truck

and it flew off. >> reporter: but there's a another possibility that someone tossed it on purpose. we shot this video taking the same route the driver did. there are two overpasses right before the spot where the suv pulled off the highway. >> you watch the roads for the potholes now you're going to have watch the sky for things that could hit you. >> reporter: police are not speculating at this point just trying to collect the evidence that they can. >> i do worry about kids not having stuff to do and then trying to find stuff to do and end up doing stuff like that. >> reporter: a medical helicopter flew the 75-year-old to a delaware hospital. >> there's nothing you can do to vaid that. >> reporter: and government data shows nearly 500 people die every year in this country from flying debris on the highway. fortunately for this driver, police tell us he was conscious when flown to the hospital where doctors have been treating him all day for serious injuries.

temperatures baft up. tonight into tomorrow morning still very cold. philadelphia very cold right now. pretty consistent numbers here in the low 20s new jersey, the lehigh valley delaware. beautiful shots outside we're not tracking any rain or snow at least not yet in the forecast. here's what it feels like as we go into the next few hours and tomorrow morning. so at 8:00 we're around 12 degrees in philadelphia. notice how we go through the overnight and into tomorrow morning 5:00 a.m. still feeling like 12 degrees. the cold is going to hold on throughout the night. suburbs 8:00, 13 degrees, you see more of an increase here you still feeling like teens. 15 degrees which is clouds overnight, no rain no snow like i mentioned. delaware at 12 degrees by 8:00 and 11 at 5:00 a.m. still feeling like teens across the board in new jersey and the jersey shore but remember

>> a bill designed to make roads in south jersey safer for students is a step closer to becoming law tonight. it's called antoine's law. named after him after he was hit and killed last may. now under this law counties and municipalities would be able to establish a reduced speed limits on roads next to schools and it would be in effect at all times. the bill is now headed to the senate for a vote. >> a pair of south jersey high schools will honor a fallen state trooper. trooper cullen died when he was killed last march. they'll meet tonight in what they're now calling the first annual trooper cullen memorial

breaking news in camden. there are delays on the patco line because of this. a train that was smoking. this is the patco station at fifth and market. it's underground right there. the train taken out of service. now patco's running with delays up to 20 minutes. the scene there, many police vehicles as well as firefighters investigating. as soon as we know more about this we'll get it back to you. >> in france, police have taken more people into custody in connection with a $10 million jewelry hieft targeting kim kardashian. french police arrested 17 people today during morning raids. police recovered guns and nearly $150,000 in cash. now they aren't saying if the five people who took part in the actual robbery are among those in custody. last october kim kardashian west was in a private apartment in paris when several masked men burst into her room. they tied her up and took the jewelry. she was not physically hurt. she eventually freed hefr self

and was able to call for help. >> for drivers in new jersey, long lines at motor vehicles commission offices could be a thing of the past. the transportation committee approved a bill that changes driver's license expiration dates from the last day of the month to the driver's birthday. the idea is that change will cut down on wait times at the state's motor vehicle services offices. >> pocono raceway is trying to get into the driverless vehicle testing business. they have applied to use the track known as the tricky triangle as a testing site for the new technology. it's part of u.s. department of transportation new automation pilot program. >> u 2 is coming back to philadelphia. >> tickets go on sale a week from tomorrow. bono and the band will be playing at the link on june 18th. the last time they played here was in 2011. the stop is part of the joshua tree tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the band's fifth

those roads have been treated a number of times and that crews are still out there working. >> after the snow moved out this weekend the bitter cold moved in and we got another chilly night ahead. >> let's check in now with meteorologist krystal klei. >> we're talking delaware snow, the conditions just have not gotten above freezing so you can't see anything melt off yet. the good news is this will be changing. the bad news we still have tonight and tomorrow morning to deal with this bitter cold. here are your delaware neighborhoods right now. glasgow at 21. wilmington at 23 and odessa also at 22 degrees. we drop further south where they got the most snow and very consistent temperatures. milton at 21 and rehoeb beth beach 21. we see some of those scattered clouds. we're not going to be tracking any rain or snow or icy

conditions. at least not yet. there will be a potential for that by tomorrow night. here's the hour-by-hour forecast. take a look as we go throughout tonight. we stay on the clear side. just some of those clouds. start to thickenning up as we begin your tuesday. no green, no pinks, no whites on the board here. then we go through the rest of the day. maybe an isolated flurry in the northern edge of our viewing area, we should stay on the dry side as we go into tuesday evening. that's when we start to see some change in potential. so notice the green, pink and white. something very different from what we saw this weekend when everyone was below zero. they'll be continuing to warm in the evening so it's very isolated chance on the northern edge of icy mix. it doesn't last long. rain takes over pretty quickly from 11:00 at night to 1:00 a.m. we see that changeover as it starts to shift over

philadelphia. see some pockets of heavier rain here. rolls on off by the early hours of wednesday. so the roadways will be wet for your commute but the showers will have moved out. we are warming up so the arctic air that's been bugging us, it's moving off to the northeast. that will leave us with cooler conditions tomorrow. but as we go from tuesday into wednesday we start to see this transition set will in. the result is a huge boost in our temperatures. look at the three-day outlook here, tuesday tomorrow 39, we get to 52 on wednesday, thursday up to 65 degrees. we're talking temperatures that are about 25 degrees warmer than they should be for this time of year after being in the 20s this past weekend. in the suburbs same situation where we again in the very most upper portions could see some brief freezing rain overnight but likelihood is we're going to stay on the dry side through to

your wednesday t. showers at 49 degrees and 60 by your thursday. in the lehigh valley, looking at temperatures boosting to 55 degrees by thursday and how about new jersey, the shore and delaware, we saw the snow hit hardest. it will be melting off. 40 on wednesday, 50 on thursday and low to mid-60s. take a look at the forecast here. these are the numbers i just read off to you. the yellows indicate -- checkout wilmington. forecasting a high of 65. the record 55. here's look at the 10 day on ten. there's that chance of rain we were talking about as we go overnight into your wednesday. we will dry out thursday/friday
