over surveillance video to see who went inside. drew smith talked to the teen's family about how his life was taken too soon. >> reporter: it's been an emotional night of this family as they've stood on the other side of this crime tape from where a 16-year-old was shot in the head. this is the moment diane found out her nephew die from a gshd to the head. the loss hit hard. >> why they come and take his life? >> reporter: detectives worked from day tonight to collect evidence reviewing surveillance camera footage. jones was at church when he found out someone shot his younger brother at their father's store on north 52nd street. >> reporter: he recently moved from jamaica. a chance for a better education. police are releasing few details on what led up to the shooting.

former philadelphia mob boss died in prison over the weekend. the 87-year-old died friday at

the federal medical center in north carolina. he was serving a 55 year sentence for racketeering and murder. he became the boss of the philadelphia crime family back in the 19 50u8. and was known to be one of the most ruthless crime bosses of his time. tonight we talked to his attorney about his first impression of his client. >> definitely a character, no doubt about that. when we first met, he said is to me day of, it's a pleasure to meet you, i've heard a lot of nice things about you. i said it's nice to meet you, i wish i could say the same. >> the attorney was working to get the mobster released on patrol at the time of his death. two catholic parishes could soon merge. our lady of ransom and resurrection of the lord has been chosen for the planning initiative. that initiative aims to merge or partner struggling parishes.
