donald trump is sworn in, a blistering attack has been unleashed on him from john brennan. with "the wall street journal" following trump's boisterous criticisms of the intel community's integrity and his recent tweets against the cia's director. going so far whether to question whether brennan himself was the leaker of unsubstantiated allegations. after brennan critiqued trump for policies through 140 character tweets, this morning new fighting words from director brennan himself. quote, when there are allegations made about leaking or dishonest or a lack of integrity, that's where i think the line is crossed. brennan took particular offense with these comments from trump last week where the president-elect equated intel officers leaking information to nazis. brennan responded forcefully. tell the families of the 117 cia officers who are forever memorialized on our wall of honor that their loved ones who gave their lives were akin to nazis. serving in harm's way right now and their families are worried

about them that they are akin to nazi germany. as of this morning 32 members of congress, all democrats are arest fusing to attend friday's inauguration. it follows the recent tit for tat between trump and civil rights legend john lewis after lewis questioned the legitimacy of trump's election because of russia's interference. also bowing out the b street band, the bruce springsteen cover band. the members said they were dropping out of playing because performing there isn't something the boss would approve of. meanwhile, a trump appointee is also bowing out from working in the administration. conservative author dr. monica crowley said that she would not be taking a senior communications role in trump's national security council amid allegations of plagiarism. and she is not the only one this the hot seat. this morning another round of cabinet confirmation hearings are set to take place with betsy devos for education and trump's pick to lead health and human services tom price is getting

his share of scrutiny after a report surfaced he purchased stock in a company right before introducing legislation that would benefit that very same company. the senate's leading democrat chuck schumer called for an immediate and thorough investigation into these potential violations, and he added that the report casts serious doubt on whether price is fit to hold the office of secretary of hhs. overseas now to europe where the continent-wide manhunt for the gunman involved in the horrific nightclub shooting in turkey has come to an end after four individuals as well as the prime suspect accused were arrested. that's according to turkish state media. the arrests come two and a half weeks after the heinous shooting left some 39 people dead and another 69 wounded. a police source confirmed to nbc news the suspected gunman was arrested during a police operation and was taken to a hospital. earlier this month turkish authorities said they had identified the main suspect behind the nightclub shooting. however, they did not reveal his identity as he remained at

large. we're expecting to learn more about the suspected attacker and what, if any ties he had to terror organizations in the coming days. nbc news has confirmed that one of the victims of monday's deadly nightclub shooting in mexico was an american from colorado. a total of five people were killed, four died from gunshot wounds while a woman appeared to have died in a stampede as people fled the caribbean club in playa del carmen south of cancun. club goers ran for the exits after a gunman opened fire inside the blue parrot nightclub in the popular resort town. according to authorities, the gunman tried to enter the club around 2:30 in the morning but was denied entrance by security and that's when he opened fire. law enforcement is still searching for gunman, and they're also investigating another exchange of gunfire that happened near the club to determine if it was related. and in miami, there was also a mass shooting during the holiday. in fact, it happened at a martin luther king jr. memorial park during an atv and bike festival

celebrating the civil rights leaders life. eight people were shot, including five children and teenagers. two victims were treated at the scene and released while the six others were taken to the hospital for further treatment, one of them in critical condition. now police have detained two people for questioning and two weapons were recovered. however, there could still be other subjects at large. and police have described the investigation as, quote, very active. it was president obama's final martin luther king jr. day as commander in chief, and he spent part of the day with his family, honoring mlk's memory by painting a mural at a family shelter in washington. the obamas joined residents of the shelter to complete what they called the wall of hope. it's the very same shelter to which the first family donated an old swing set once used by daughters sasha and malia on the white house south lawn. and it wasn't the only occasion president obama marked. >> they said this day would never come. i will say to the cubs can it took you long enough. i mean, i've only got four days

agents seen in this early morning video took her into custody at this house in northern california where she has been living since shortly after the attack. >> we said from the beginning we were going to look at every aspect of this case, of every aspect of this shooter's life to determine not just why did he take these actions, but who else knew about them, was anyone else involved. >> reporter: federal official says she is charged with obstruction of justice and aiding and abetting in the attack. according to law enforcement officials, sources say she knew her husband was preparing to carry out some kind of attack but failed to give any warning. investigators say she told the fbi after the shooting that she drove him to the pulse nightclub at least once because he wanted to check it out. they say she at first claimed she tried to talk him out of doing anything violent. but in a long interview with "the new york times" in november, she denied knowing what he was up to, and her lawyer said she had no advanced knowledge, and that prosecuting her dishonors the shooting victims because it punishes an innocent victim.

but orlando's police chief says, quote, there is some relief in knowing that someone will be held accountable for that horrific crime. >> that was nbc's pete williams reporting. well, it has been called one of the longest and most exhaustive investigations in fbi history. and now three amateur scientists may have new evidence that could help identify d.b. cooper. well, he is the mystery man who hijacked a flight back in 1971, demand $200,000, and then eescaped via parachute. scientists from citizen sleuth analyzed particles from a clip-on tie left behind by cooper. they say they found a combination of rare earth elements that point to someone who may have worked at a boeing plant. well, now they're asking for help from anyone with knowledge about the aerospace industry in the northwest. the fbi closed the case last year. >> what an absolute mystery. it's incredible. all right. well, the internet is going wild for two incredible animal sighingings. watch this. sharks giant leap out of the water. that's incredible that was off

we are seeing more automakers steal jobs back to the states two weeks after donald trump criticized general motors for making the chevy cruze in mexico. it's part of a broader $1 billion investment in u.s. facilities. and news just out today, the south korean auto hyundai will spend $3.1 billion over the next five years investing in the states. this will be for new technology and retooling. but if there is demand, it may actually create a plant and build a new suv and premium car in that market. meantime, on brexit, not a watered down or half baked solution. we're talking about a full-blown exit today as divorce proceedings kick up a gear. all eyes are on a 12 priority list that will be spouted out by the uk prime minister theresa may letter today. in future it may not just be drones buzzing overhead if airbus has its way. it's been looking at a prototype it wants to test later this year. it's essentially a flying taxi.
