center city. president trump will address the group tomorrow. immigration was a big topic for president trump today. but millions are also waiting to see what he'll do with the affordable care act. coming up at 5:30, lauren make spoke to one republican lawmaker who says they could fin a replacement plan while they are here in philadelphia. check out this sinkhole that practically swallowed this entire front yard in montgomery county. so far it's taken out a tree and that truck. neighbors hope their homes are not next. >> deanna durante has been there all day. >> reporter: they have brought in portable lights, down inside that hole they're digging out what has fallen in, including the roots and branchs from the tree that went in. you can see that pickup truck on the edge there, that's tethered

to a tow truck parked in the backyard. that home, homeowners were inside around 3:30 this morning when the ground gave way. >> reporter: for stephanie the loud noises didn't end there. even police knocked on the door. >> i had expected maybe a hole in the road, and the tree and the truck was in it. >> reporter: two homes have been evacuate the. one was empty and up for sale. no one is sure of the future of the houses right now. five large cement trucks have come in pouring concrete into the sinkhole and the tunnel created below the ground. some estimate the hole is 20 feet deep, maybe more. >> hopefully it doesn't swallow the house. >> you heard of sinkholes before, but nothing to this size. >> reporter: the sacrews have h cut water and gas to the block. those with small children have taken off to relatives with running water and heat.

in the suburbs 5 251 in new jersey. 50 in the lehigh valley. also in the low 50s for delaware. looking at those winds, single dijs. everything seems calm in this picture. not the case for tomorrow. we get a bit of everything for thursday. starting with the focus on rain. radar and satellite for us right now. we just saw in the live cameras, it's clear. you pull out, there's the rain we're tracking. this nice long line of showers, nothing too strong here. mostly greens on the board. this little line will track our direction. it will make it to us about the time of your morning commute tomorrow. so talking to steady showers that will pass by, tracking much of the neighborhoods, but not giving us too much, not in comparison to what we have been seeing. starts to move out. for tonight, clouds building in track into tomorrow morning, that's when we have the wet commute. by tomorrow afternoon, drying out and windy. we'll talk more about the winds and the rain coming up.

150 violent criminals are off the streets in new jersey this evening after a three-month sweep. operation targeted suspects in trenton, camden, millville and the atlantic city area. the attorney general announced new plans to prevented victim and witness intimidation. the police department in the city of chester is getting some reinforcements. eight new police officers will begin patrolling the streets there. the city swore in the group of newly graduated cadets during today's council meeting. >> it was great. been a long 7 1/2 months for us. we built a bond that's unbreakable. i'm happy to be here and serve the city of chester. >> two patrolmen were also promoted to detectives. the state of new jersey is cracking down on home improvement contractors for allegedly defrauding homeowners rebuilding storm damaged homes after hurricane sandy. the state sued more than 100 contractors including some in

camden, atlantic and burlington counties. they have been ordered to pay $1.9 million in restitution and penalties. pennsylvania governor tom wolf is investing more than $81 million to clean up the state's water system. the money will go towards 16 drinking water and wastewater projects across 12 counties. this will impact residents in horsham, chester city and chester county. the funding will come from state funds, federal grants and recycled loan payments. $10 million of that money will go to help horsham residents impacted when their water supply was contaminated by chemicals from an old naval air station nearby. one resident filed a lawsuit accusing the navy improperly disposing of hazardous waste. a few details of what jewelers row could look like. there could be a tower with condos and retail space at 7th

a milestone day has just come to an end on wall street. the dow closed above 20,000 points for the first time. now, seconds after today's opening bell the dow surged above the mark and it stayed above 20,000 at the close of today's trading. >> we're joined live by rob wilson. rob, thanks for being here. we heard the cheers on wall street. but what does this really mean for your money? is this a big deal? >> i know people are breaking out their dow 20,000 party hats, but i don't think the number is a great big deal. we tend to fixate on the big, round numbers, and 20,000 might get the individual investor excited about what's going on in

the market, but you have to think longer term. 20,000 is just a stop on a long-term market. >> what helped the dow reach this level? is it all reed to president trump? >> not totally. the economy performed great since the dow hit its low in march of 2009. this is not like when the dow hit 10,000 or all on hopes of the dotcom. look, people are -- the companies are at historic levels of earnings, and unemployment is at historic lows. when people have money, they can go out and spend, that's great for companies and great for the stock market. >> we hit the 20,000 mark now. you mentioned part of a long-term trend. should we expect this to continue for a while? >> i'm working on a new product for this year, that's called rob's crystal ball. but until it's finalize tfinalih i could tell you when the dow will hit 25,000. i don't know. i hope this is a wakeup call that you to be in the game and that investing needs to be an

we just learned that driver has died. 75-year-old jack dicarlo was headed down the turnpike in salem county when the dumbbell smashed through his windshield. investigators are trying to figure out whether the dumbbell was thrown from an overpass or fell off another vehicle. the lives of students at nine philadelphia public schools are about to change. today they received $4300s in grants from the philadelphia public school giving circle. that money will allow elementary students to see live theater performances. the money will also pay for e-readers and robot starter kits. they are sisters who love sports, they're searching for a forever family. don't miss the dynamic duo from this week's wednesday child. that's next at 5:00.

chaka fattah is preparing to spend his first night in prison. he started a ten-year sentence today, turning himself in about three hours early to a facility in western pennsylvania. we learned some of the details about what he can expect going forward. >> the last time we saw chaka fattah he was walking out of court, just sentenced to a

decade in prison for racketeering. >> we respect the court's decision. today he walked back into to that prison at 10:02 this morning. the facility is about a 5 1/2 hour drive from philadelphia, about 90 miles south of buffalo, new york. fatah will spend his time at a low security satellite camp, it has two basketball courts and a baseball diamond. on the inside, prison officials shared this picture of where he will sleep. it's like a dorm with no door and an area shared with 262 other offenders. >> i want to thank my legal team. i want to thank the support of my family. >> reporter: fatah in june was found guilty on several fraud and racketeering accounts

including taking a $1 million campaign loan. now the once political powerhouse will spend his days here where he will be assigned a prison job. he has always maintained his innocence in all of this. his family members told us they are confident he will be exonerated on appeal. volunteers throughout new jersey are counting up the number of homeless people on the streets. in the city of camden people took part in nj counts 2017, it is an effort to figure out how big a problem homelessness is in the garden state. we spoke to one newly homeless woman at the josephs house shelter who was grateful for help. a humbling experience. a lot of generosity out there. a lot of ignorance out there as
