the lehigh valley. he has a very unique tie to this story. one of the first family sent right back to the family saturday a syrian family soon to be neighbors of allentown area congressman charlie denlt. the family spent 14 years trying to get here legally. when they were sent back because of the new immigration order. >> it was just a horrible mess. and it was very sad affair. >> reporter: we met with charlie in his office. he is a republican and national security is very important, but so is patience. >> these types of actions do require a lot of thought and deliberatation. >> reporter: this executive order was clearly rushed and he believes trump should spent p spend less time worrying about refugee families and more time focused on people who might have become citizens of european nations and can come here to the u.s. with just a passport. i asked as a republican is he worried about taking heat from

the trump administration for not supporting the order as written. >> i can't live in fear. i don't live in fear. i do my job. i try to call it like i see it. i try to be fair and measured and if that gets people upset from time to time, that's okay. i mean we're paid the big bucks to take some heat once in a whi while. >> reporter: as we come back live to the supreme court, you can see we're very packed in here. a couple thousand people looks like to me have descended on the steps of the u.s. supreme court here. they are back in da mass cass syria but their lawyers are working very hard to get them back here just as soon as possible. democratic lawmakers supposed to speak here but so far protesters have been one by one going out there and taking a turn at the microphone and getting a lot of attention between the capitol and the u.s. supreme court. >> the top democrat in the

senate will seek gop help to repeal president trump's executive order on immigration. minority year chuck schumer he will call on republicans in the senate to oppose the order. but the president is not backing down tonight. >> look, coming in to this country is still a privilege. we're the greatest country on earth. >> president trump's spokesman arguing today that 109 people being detained at airports is a minor inconvenience to keep america safe. >> meantime washington states attorney general announced today he's suing president trump over his immigration order. he along with 14 other state ags released a statement sunday calling mr. trump's immigration action un-american and unlawful. on cnn today shapiro urged him to withdraw the ban. it undermines the entire commonwealth. >> whether it's the researcher

>> where you're still seeing some snow showers in parts of the area but nothing like what we saw a while ago. the visibility of philadelphia was near zero. we were getting pounded by snow squall. now we have a couple of snow showers around the philadelphia area now. these are not as strong as the other ones. they're moving very rapidly. this one's going right into philadelphia as you can see and it's not as heavy and it's moving a lot faster even in the last one and we still have some farther to the east. this is another one in new jersey. it's crossed from wilmington now right over pilesgrove and alloway township. another area right at the long beach island now just north of ship bottom. toward barnegat light getting some heavier snow and there's more. this is coming tomorrow. that's what we're watching now along with the temperatures tonight.

see if there are any icy spots. more on that snow and more perhaps for next weekend coming up. >> a delaware county school will be closed until at least friday after a boiler exploded this morning. around 7:00 this morning. >> the boiler explosion led to a gas leak and the building lost heat. there were no students inside at the time and no one was hurt. >> pennsylvania governor tom wolf says he's streamlining state government by combining four agencies into one. today the government announced the departments of ageing, health, drug and alcohol and human services will now be one department. golf wolf says this change will not lead to any program cuts and will deliver better service. this as the state faces a budget gap. the governor will release his budget plan next week. >> pennsylvania lawmakers are revisiting a bill child abuse victims more time to sue their

attackers. the measure would eliminate the criminal statute of limitations currently victims have a period of 12 years after their 18th birthday to sue their attackers. >> in delaware the fight over standardized testing continues. lawmakers trying to pass a law that would allow students to opt out of the standardized test. opponents of the bill say if it's passed it could threaten millions of dollars in federal funding to the state. >> lawmakers in new jersey are taking steps to address the opioid epidemic, assembly and state committees are approving state legislation today. the bill with a also limit initial opioid prescriptions to a five day supply. governor chris christie says he's devoting his final year in office to battling the drug crisis. >> a delaware pharmaceutical company is making a $53 million move for a new cancer therapy.

>> a live look right now at that immigration protest which is taken place outside the supreme court. democratic lawmakers in washington beginning a rally against the president trump's travel ban that ban implemented late friday afternoon prompting many demonstrations through the weekend at airports country the around. >> to another major story we've been following since the weekend. quebec mosque attack suspect the in that attack with six counts of first degree murder. he's been charged with five counts of attempted murder. communities across canada will hold vigils tonight after six

people died in that attack in a local mosque. more than 50 people were inside when the shooting began. canadian authorities have yet to comment on a possible motive. local mosques are increasing securities in response to that attack. >> local muslim leaders are calling for a vigilance after president trump immigration order. >> followers experienced hate this weekend. >> she was blaming us. >> reporter: he's still reeling after he says a belligerent woman interrupted a community meeting last night at this atlantic city restaurant and accused them of being behind the september 11th attacks. >> i was very upset. >> reporter: following today's midday prayer at the city's mosque it cited the restaurant outburst in a warning to members about being mindful of their surroundings. the message about staying safe

at home and beyond also follows sunday's deadly mass shooting at a mosque in quebec city. a fire the day before at a texas mosque previously targeted by hate tread and president trump immigration order targeting seven predominantly muslim nations. >> when islamaphobia is giving a platform at the highest level then people at the lower levels as well feel as if it is okay to spread the hate that they might have towards a certain group. >> reporter: he was also among the thousands who protested the travel ban sunday at philadelphia international airport. >> from what i saw yesterday america is great already, because of the diversity and the amount of good people that are there in america. >> reporter: muhammad hawk opens the mosque every day before dawn a routine that has him more nervous now. >> so i am literally scared to

do this. >> reporter: ted greenberg nbc10 news. >> delaware's muslim community is having an interfaith rally in newark tonight in response to the president's travel ban. the islamic society of delaware said about the event, we aren't scared as we firmly believe that america is the land where justice and equality prevails. >> following president trump's executive order, nbc10 went back to an area that stood with mr. trump through the election and one where syrian refugees have been flocking for years. >> ran on a certain platform and he was elected on that platform and i think within ten days he's already showing that he meant business. >> i'm excited about trump. i'm excited that he's shaking things up. we're just having -- we can be republican again. >> those we spoke with say they are not surprised by any of the actions president trump has taken, many are waiting to see

what comes next. >> turning to our weather and look at this, a snowy start to the work week. this is the scene along city line avenue. many drivers taking it slowly along those slick roads. no snow here right now but i know you're tracking more snow for not a good time tomorrow morning's commute. >> that's just for a limited part of the area. nothing as heavy as what we saw this afternoon. here's the art museum. we can see things now. a couple of hours ago we couldn't because the snow was coming down so hard. we have some more snow showers leftover but they're nowhere near as heavy as what we saw earlier. there's one coming into philadelphia, another one in south jersey and they're moving pretty fast. not neil as strong but as you can see right in that core of it

right near norristown for example, we're getting brief burst of some heavier snow and that shower by long beach island that is weakening as well. now the next system is up around the great lakes. that's a different type of thing. that's a steady lighter snow rather than those bursts of heavy snow. knocked the temperature down too. 27 in coatesville, 29 in wilmington. so there could be some slick spots during the night from the moisture that was left over from those snow showers, especially if it's not on any kind of side streets. your sidewalk might be slippery. west bradford township 29, exton 29, 30 in collegeville, 28 in north wales and ft. washington and newtown at 29 degrees as

well. so just a few little light snow showers. they're going to be falling apart. then we watched to the west and some of this light snow especially berks county, lehigh valley and into the poconos during the morning and even into the afternoon tomorrow and then another little system coming by later in the afternoon. it could be a mix of rain and snow in parts of the philadelphia area, so we're not really talking about anything too serious. but watch what happens as we go through the night tonight. it's mostly clear. it's cold and then tomorrow morning allentown, quakertown, exton, reading getting some of that snow but other parts of the area not getting it. that's what the neighborhood weathers all about here and some places starting to mix in with rain during the afternoon as well. we'll get into the ten-day forecast with a chance of some snow by next weekend. >> i'm john clark. no joel embiid tonight for the
