florida. this one at 8:00. the judge opens up our country to potential terrorists and others that do not have our best interests at heart. bad people are very happy. well, tonight, philadelphia international airport says it welcomes the return of all visitors. nbc 10's drew smith joins us live from philadelphia international where international flights are arriving with no problems. drew? >> reporter: and denise, you can check it out for yourself. all is calm down here at the airport. no chaos and confusion as people catch some of those late-night flights. the mayor is tweeting tonight that he's proud that this airport can once again welcome all regardless of nationality. but it is unclear how long that will last. the fast-moving changes to travel rules in the united states has people with valid visas rushing to airports this weekend. these are the people who were barred from boarding flights all week, but thanks to a judge's

ruling, they landed stateside into their family's arms in boston today. >> it was really frustrating. i was about to check in. i was in line when he signed the order. >> at philadelphia's international arrivals, there's still uncertainty. >> it is kind of confusing and scary. >> reporter: but the federal judge's ruling changed things here. >> i find that a temporary restraining order is in the public interest. >> reporter: phl airport put out a statement tonight saying, the airport welcomes the return of operating procedures in which properly vetted foreign travelers and refugees are admitted into the united states. but president trump supporters aren't happy. >> we need to address what we have in our country first. >> reporter: and as the department of justice heads to court, people who made it back into the country are staying put, until it's clear what the rules are, since they change daily. >> reporter: and the response to the implementation of all of these policy changes during this roller coaster week have been

rapid. so if there are more court rulings, either this weekend or early next week, you can expect the situation down here to change quickly. we're live at phl airport, i'm drew smith, nbc 10 news. >> thanks, drew. this was the scene in center city today. officials say 2,000 people took part in the march for humanity down broad street. the group was protesting president trump's travel and immigration ban and a i side from the traffic troubles, officials say the march was peaceful. aed philadelphia police chief inspector joe sullivan thanked his force on twitter. he tweeted, a vp visit, two large demonstrations and marches, zero arrests and zero negative incidents. very proud of my officers. fchd was n philadelphia was not the only site of protests. there were demonstrators worldwide. tonight in mar-a-lago, berlin, and paris they're upset over president trump's travel ban. and today vice president mike pence stopped in philadelphia to talk courts and the constitution.

the vice president spoke to members of the federalists society, a group that advocates for the constitution and the separation of power. the vice president took the opportunity to praise president trump's pick for supreme court judge neil gorsuch. >> it should be abundantly clear that judge neil gorsuch is, indeed, a worthy successor to judge antonin scalia. she's cut from the same cloth. our constitution and our country will be stronger with him on the supreme court. but we're not there yet. which is why i'm here. >> reporter: prior to his speech, vice president pence toured independence hall and saw the liberty ball. tomorrow, he's expected to be in houston for the super bowl. well, philadelphia eagles great, brian dawkins, learned tonight, he's not going to the nfl hall of fame in his first year of eligibility. dawkins spent 13 years playing here in philadelphia. hear what dawkins had to say tonight later in sports. and now to first alert weather, and tonight, you definitely needed to bundle up with your winter coats.

in that unsolved homicide case. the call reveals the frantic moments leading up to that toddler's death. >> ma'am -- >> he's dying, please! >> camden county released the call to nbc 10 today in response to an open records request. the call from november came from a nanny in pennsauken. she tells the operate, a 2-year-old in her care is throwing up blood. the boy ended up dying at some point after the 8-minute call. the camden county prosecutor's office is handling the case. no one has been arrested. philadelphia police are looking for the gunman who shot and killed a local activist inside her home. the 65-year-old woman was found in her bedroom, just before 8:30 last night. she had been shot in the stomach. well, delaware state police have cleared the crime scene at the james vaughn correctional center in smyrna. the building where correction officer floyd was killed during a standoff earlier this week has been turned back over to the

department of corrections. police say their investigation into the uprising is expected to last quite some time. well, tonight, philadelphia police are searching for the person who robbed a girl scout. police tell us it happened just before 5:00 this afternoon near rittenhouse square. the girl was selling cookies in the area when a man robbed her of about 50 bucks. well, a new chapter. tonight, a look at one of the largest book fairs for children. the smiles on these kids' faces, next. special celebration. meet the local woman with a milestone birthday. >> and the sixers try to win in south beach. we'll tell you how far joe joe's return date has been bushed back. and it's a bird, it's a plane. the flyers net minder was flashing the leather in south philly. highlights, coming up.

from our south jersey bureau, top honors for a local fallen soldier. these pictures are from the dedication ceremony for the a.j. dixson friends center. dixson was killed while serving in iraq back in 2004. dixson's mother, jacqueline, was at today's dedication, and the center is available for active and inactive military members
