has 30 to 40 a cars fewer on the track. this after crews found cracks in the support beams on two rail cars. transit agency is warning commuters be prepared for extremely crowded train stops during peak hours. we have live team coverage with nbc 10 first alert traffic reporter checking out the delays and alternative routes. we begin with nbc 10 katy. tell us what it's been like. >> reporter: there are few things to tell you about. the shuttle bus service that was running here at 30th street station and stopped all along the market line, that's not running because the morning rush has ended. the morning rush did go off with fewer problems than expected. that's from a step ta spokesperson who tells me they are optimistic the evening rush will not be as bad as first thought. >> i made sure i woke up a bit earlier and got here a little earlier on time. >> reporter: it may be for

pre-planning like that. the ride was smoother than septa expected. given the busy route is operating with 40 fewer train cars. >> didn't seem like it was too much worse than normal amount of people here. i'm hoping it stays the same and the trains keep moving. >> reporter: the transit agency was bracing for the work after maintenance workers found cracks in two train cars this weekend. that prompted officials to remove nearly 40 more as a precaution. there were concerns for overcrowding on trains and long wait times on the platform. >> local stops. >> reporter: septa brought in shuttle buses. what we witnessed this morning was a contingency plan running smoothly. in fact, there were plenty of seats on those overflow buses. shuttle bus service is supposed to resume here at 30th street station and other stops along

the market frank ford line for the evening rush. i was told by a septa spokesperson that may not happen at all stops because it turns out the trains weren't as crowded as first thought. coming up at 11:30, i'll tell you what rider may be most affected by that decision. >> thanks. our team coverage continues now with first alert traffic reporter jessica boynton with more solutions for riders. >> reporter: expecting those delays. it seems like the rush hour almost went off with no problems. expecting delays as long as this is under way. different days sometimes. this is the day after the super bowl. maybe there will be more of larger rush tomorrow. the service will continue in operation still between 69 street, transportation center. no cancellations were made because of this. trains will still make all

stops. the shuttle bus service will be reinstalled later on this afternoon starting around 3:00 p.m. it will continue through the peak hours until 7:00. that's what we'll see later on for the commute. watch for crash. this is south of route 202. you can take county line road as an alternate there. some slow downs there coming out of city. we're still watching the delaware river bridge still closed. back to you. thank you. this problem isn't related to another septa slow down from over the summer.

huge headaches for riders since about a third wasn't running. septa had to borrow cars from other nearby transit agencies. now is a good time to down load the free nbc 10 app. we'll send you realtime alerts and updates as septa deals with problems on the rails. chaos again. two states suing president trump over his travel ban say that's what would happen if a federal appeals could reversed the judge's ruling that put the ban on hold. lawyers for washington state and minnesota filed briefs with the appeals court earlier this morning. the court wants the trump administration to do the same in its appeal to reenstate the temporary travel ban. the executive order would prevent certain travelers from seven mostly muslim countries from entering the u.s. flu this morning former secretaries of state john kerry and mad line allight are joining former top u.s. national security officials in asking the courts to continue blocking trump's recent immigration

order. meantime migrants are traveling or making plans to head back to america. that includes syrian relatives from allentown who are now back on u.s. soil this morning. nbc 10 sydney long is live. tell us about families arrival this morning. >> reporter: it was extremely emotional. very touching and moving as you might imagine. as close as i'm standing to our camera right now, about three feet, that's how close we were to the family as they emerged from the baggage claim. there were a lot of smiles, tears of joy and since it's been three years since some of them have seen one another, there were hugs in those embraces they departments want to let go. take a look. no tv cameras were allowed. this is up close cell phone

footage of those first moments in which they were reunited. six brothers, their wives and two of their children are here safely. their arrival on u.s. soil comes after being denied entry into the united states in philadelphia. last saturday, january 28th. after 18 hours on that airplane, they were sent back to war torn syria. today's arrival? the u.s. began yesterday after a drive from demascus and beirut before their final leg of this 16-hour journey landed them an hour early ahead of schedule into the arms of their loved ones here at jfk airport today. matthew who is 17 explained how knelt when they were sent back to syria last weekend. he called it unhuman but he said that's now in the past. >> i'm so grateful. i just want to say thank you to

this morning on maywood street. police tell us the shooting victim lives in the neighborhood and hoping surveillance cameras can help them find the gunman. a former secret service agent who worked at the white house is on trial for trying to lure underage girls for sex in delaware and florida. lee robert moore is accused of texting lewd photos of himself as well add child porn. police arrested him in 2015 after they say he messaged an undercover delaware detective posing as one of the teens. friends and family want to know who killed a popular community organizer. >> someone shot and killed her in her house on friday night. she was the acting director for uc green, a city program that plants trees across philadelphia. a 2-year-old girl is found safe in north eastern pennsylvania following an amber alert last night. turns out she was not abducted. state police say the girl's

mother failed to put the car in park when she got home. the car rolled down a hall into a wooded field. the mother thought the car had been stolen. medics are checking out the child but she's expected to be okay. today in harrisburg a state senate committee plans to vote on a new abortion bill. current law bans abortions after 24 weeks. the governor said he'll veto the bill if it reaches his desk. we know when the delaware prison guard killed in an inmate uprising will be laid to rest. friday night at delaware state university a first visitation will be held for lieutenant stephen floyd and a second one and the funeral will happen on saturday morning. lieutenant floyd was found dead after a hostage stand off. political backlash as the legal battle over his travel ban escalates. president trump is dealing with more criticism over his latest

43 in allentown and 48 in wilmington. look at our 24 hour change map here. we're considerably warming than yesterday at this time. ten degrees warmer in allentown. 8 degrees warmer in dover and nine degrees warmer in atlantic city. yesterday was an above average day. some of these numbers are boosting up enough so a few spots are going to see 50s this afternoon. parts of jersey and delaware as well. here is a look at the forecast highs for today. actually, a few spots will see warmer than this evening. we're at 48 for parts of center city. 45 for parts of the suburbs like westchester at 46. mid touper upper 40s for parts the lehigh valley. we're looking at temperatures in the upper 40s in the afternoon. a few spots in the 50s for delaware and the jersey shore, atlantic city around ha.

we saw atlantic city starting to boost above that value. temperatures are really going to be very nice and mild for this time of year. the thing is while today is nice and mild, the next few days continue climbing with rain moving in. here is the hour by hour forecast. we start to put this into motion. we see mostly clear conditions on the board through the rest of today. no rain, snow, any activity to track. as we go overnight into your tuesday morning, this is at 5:00 a.m., we start to see spotty showers starting to move throughout the region. this is the beginning of what will be a wet forecast for tuesday. take a look at the tail end of our morning commute. say 8:00, 9:00 a.m. we start to pull in rain from the southwest with pockets of heavy rain as well. you see passing over cape may county and cumberland county. more scatter showers will linger for our tuesday. that's tuesday though. we go into the overnight.

>> reporter: we went throughout the city checking out the trains. the number of stations we did see crowded trains but not too much overflow on those additional shuttle buses offered at a number of stations. we took with passenger who is awaited their train. that i knows were running on schedule and pulled up with just enough room for them to squeeze on. several dozen train cars are out of service. the ones running have been deemed safe.

at some station septa is offering overflow bus service. some riders chose to hop on the bus rather than squeeze on to the train. this morning's situation seemed hardest on commuters with kids. >> complicated. having to hold onto them. the trains being packed. it's very hard. >> reporter: septa will be giving us an update on this entire situation and if they have a resolution and time frame. they will learn in the stations had that overflow bus service will have the same overflow bus service for the evening rush. our team coverage continues now with more on the solutions for riders. jessica. >> reporter: it's going to be important to listen to when they release the statement on septa on what the next step really will be.

everyone else fairing pretty nicely for our late morning on our monday. what we're going to see is big changes by tuesday, wednesday and even thursday. today is looking good. here is a look at our philadelphia neighborhood temperatures. some of us have made it to 50 degrees. we are certainly going to see spots in the 50s today. 48 for west mount area. sitting at 47 degrees. officially 47 degrees and we should cap out right now the 50 degrees mark. we're still in the beginning of february. for our new jersey neighborhoods, about the same. we're almost 50. florence you're at 46. prin

prin princeton you're the same. over the next three days we see quite a few changes. we see sun for the most part. tomorrow it's going to be more clouds and rain starting in the morning and thinning out in the afternoon. wednesday, early morning we might see a little more rain and it's just going to be spotty showers. this isn't a constant rain for two days straight but you are going to see rain. obviously, it's just rain. 57 the high tuesday and 62 degrees by wednesday. put that in perspective, that's 20 degrees warmer than the average high for this time of year. 48 for us in the suburbs. tuesday we're at 52 and 58 for wednesday. in the lehigh valley following the same friend going for mid-40s to low 50s to mid-50s by wednesday with some of those scattered showers as well. in new jersey, 49 for today. 52 at the shore today. that's the same for delaware. some spots making their way well into the 50s by this afternoon.
