rosenfield. >> i'm jacqueline london. organizers had planned an evening of peaceful protests. that's how the march began. but later a clash between police and protesters sending two officers to the hospital. >> drew smith is following what has become a criminal investigation. he is live at central detectives. drew, what can you tell us? >> reporter: tell you investigators are speaking with a dozen officers who were coated with spray paint and pepper spray. they're down here at central detectives. they're also reviewing video and speaking to the four men arrested during the demonstration which escalated into violence. a group of more than 100 people rallied near city hall and marched up broad street chant ago range of messages, some directed at the president, others at local police >> police are literally terrorizing it. >> reporter: marchers grew more animated as the night went on, burning the american flag and attempting to get inside private buildings in north philadelphia near temple university.

this twitter video shows the scuffle outside a bank. >> once you begin to spray police officers with a caustic substance, you are no longer involved in protest activity, you are now involved in criminal activity. >> reporter: investigators say demonstrators sprayed mace, injuring two officers. you can see spray on the doors of the bank. but march organizers claim it was the police who were violent. >> they pepper sprayed people. they started taking out their batons and hitting people. >> police monitor protests almost every single day in this city with few conflicts. they say the conclusion of this demonstration was disappointing. >> unfortunately a small group of people within the crowd made the decision to escalate this and that resulted in people being arrested. >> reporter: the two officers taken to the e.r. i'm told are doing okay right now. as for the four men arrested, it's unclear what charges they could face, this investigation is ongoing. live at central detectives, drew

smith, nbc 10 news. happening now, historic flooding in southern california. flash flooding, thousands of power outages and homes evacuated for fear of mudslides roads turned to rivers in los angeles and in glendale the rain created a waterfall with floodwater cascading off a parking garage. much different story closer to home. nbc 10 in narberth where we found people in heavy coats. you won't need those tomorrow. let's bring in chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz with the most accurate forecast in town. >> temperatures will be chumping up during the day tomorrow once we get past the sun rise. we've got good visibility now clear skies, light wind, temperature dropping. 28 in mt. holly, 34 in philadelphia. these temperatures are fairly typical for this time of night at this time of the year

yesterday we hit 39 degrees. today we hit 45 and take a look at saturday and sunday. into the mid-60s. that's more like april temperatures compared to what we've seen in the last couple days. it will really feel mild tomorrow afternoon. 7:00 a.m. it's 34 but by noon 53. 60 at 4:00. in the suburbs gigantic temperature jumps. lehigh valley 30 to 58. new jersey 34 to 61. and then it might get even warmer later on next week. i'll tell you more about that, too, coming up. breaking news out of north philadelphia where police say a driver lost control and crashed into a store front. it happened at fresh doughnut on 7th street and girard avenue. no one was hurt, but officials are checking the stability of the building to make sure it's safe.

police are trying to figure out what caused the driver to lose control. our first look at the woman accused of stabbing an eight-year-old girl in the head in delaware county. >> nbc 10's brandon hudson is live at children's hospital where doctors are treating the girl. brandon, police say the attack started with an argument about baby-sitting? >> reporter: that's right, jacqueline and jim. the argument escalated to the point where police say the neighbor grabbed a steak knife and ended with this little girl at children's hospital after a long and traumatic day. thankfully, she will survive. when we first asked majia bajir into about the little girl she paused. then spoke incoherently. ko the police chief says she used a steak knife to stab her

neighbor's daughter in the right side of the held as other children watched in horror. adams says it stemmed from an argument about bay bisitting. >> they used to be friends. there was bad blood, accusations about baby-sitting skills. >> adams told nbc 10 a building worker carried the girl to police who drove her to the hospital. investigators are working to determine if the eight-year-old was the intended target. >> i don't care what you're argumeing about, off baby in th mix and you're going to pull a future knife out? >> reporter: chief adams commended the quick officer for their actions to help the little victim. police say the young girl baby s.a.t. the suspect's infant son. his mother, the suspect, she faces attempted criminal homicide among other serious charges. reporting live from children's hospital, brandon hudson, nbc 10 news. a south jersey man who volunteers with the girl scouts faces child pornography charges.

police arrested phillip shepherd of cherry hill. police say they found several images of child pornography on his computer. police took a number of other digital devices from his home. tonight new details on the deadly prison hostage standoff in smyrna. a lawyer for a union representing the correctional officers says the inmates staged a dry run protest to see how prison officials would react. the dry run lasted about two hours. it involved inmates refusing to obey commands and gathering near a chow hall, it happened in the same building where inmates took four hostages this month, killing one of them. tonight president trump is at his mar-a-lago estate in palm beach, florida, before that he made a stop in south carolina to look at the latest creation from boeing. he attended the unveiling of the new 787-10 dream liner at a facility in charleston. during remarks to employees, the president pledged american workers will always win, in his

words. back in december mr. trump blasted boeing on twitter over the course of the new air force one project but today he told reporters negotiations continue and taxpayers are saving money. it's official, scott pruitt will be the next head of the environmental protection agency. the senate voting to confirm pruitt in a 52-46 vote. it comes after an all night session on the senate floor by democrats hoping to delay the final vote. pruitt has been criticized with his past battles with the epa including suing the agency multiple times. in montgomery county a show of support and solidarity in lower marion high school. ♪ they supported these shirts to show their support for muslim immigrants and refugees. they say "i am a muslim. i am a refugee. i am an immigrant. i am an american.

" we spoke to a player who said the team needed to make a statement. >> everybody is my brother and sister. i'm here to support everybody, no matter your background. so it's not to literally mean we're all refugees, but that we're all humans, one race, the human rice. >> this isn't the first time the aces made a statement. they've worn the shirts before and they've taken a knee during the national anthem drawing both criticism and praise. accused cop killer eric fried appeared in court today. jury selection for his trial is set for march 9 and opening statements about a month later. frein is charged with opening fire outside the blooming grove barracks in 2014 killing one state trooper and wounding another. because it is a high profile case, jurors will be picked in chester county and bussed to pike county for the trial. the south jersey man who crashed his pickup truck into a

river and ended up killing his dog will serve six months in prison for that incident. a judge sentenced andrew mayer for the crash that happened back in february of 2015. prosecutors say mayer was doing doughnuts with his truck on the ice when the truck broke through. his dog jumped in when it happened and drowned. high honors tonight for some of south jersey's finest. it was the 200 clubs valor awards. four police officers, firefighters and yemts were recognized for their merit, distinguished service and advanced training expertise. tonight an all night in happy valley. the annual marathon dance party that's all for a good cause. >> it's the annual thon. it's a 46 hour no sitting no no sleeping dance marathon that raises money to fight child hood cancer. some 16,000 students are taking

a south philadelphia institution will be back open

for business tomorrow but some slippery thieves stole thousands of dollars that caused damage along the way. the owner of john's roast pork tells nbc 10 the thieves went through the exhaust system to get into the restaurant and swiped $3,500 from a register and another $1, 500 in donations to a cancer charity. a new exhibit rooted in a dark period in history is making its first and only stop right here on the east coast in philadelphia. it shines the light on the 75th anniversary of the presidential executive order that forced japanese americans into internment camps. the exhibit is called "uprooted" and focuses on farm labor camps during world war ii. it's a little known part of the more than two year internment of 120,000 people of japanese ancestry. two-thirds were american citizens. theresa mayaburi was born in a camp in mount iidaho. >> people were put in camps because of fear and racism.

i want this exhibit to show we shouldn't do it again. >> you can see the free exhibit at the friends center in center city on display tomorrow through march 9. yet another delay for the reopening of the former rebel casino in atlantic city. the developer promised the property now named ten would reopen president's day weekend but several permits and licenses are still missing. he missed his first soft opening date last june. he'll speak to the casino control commission on tuesday. what a difference a day makes. today felt like winter but this weekend get ready for spring. >> the warm temperatures will take the polar out of tomorrow's polar bear plunge. nbc 10's keith jones has the story from sea aisle city. >> reporter: we're about to show you cold people running into a cold ocean. that was last year when it was six degrees. this year when people run on the sand it will be 60 degrees. the windchill barely above zero, that flag whipping in brutal

clear skies and calm winds. only 27 in swedesboro, clayton. farther inland it's colder. oswego lake at 26. piney hollow 26. millville 26. a little milder near the delaware river. florence at 34. princeton normal cold spot at 23 degrees. we'll get temperatures into the 60s in most of the area saturday and sunday. we're mainly dry, too for just about the next week but a moderate drought so we could use raine venn usually. and next week there will be more 60s on the way. we cool down a little then go right back soup that won't be the end of the mild weather. it's also not necessarily the end of winter. colder air comes back in eventually.

dry weekend and as we go through the day tomorrow we're starting off on the chilly side. hardly any wind and by 7:00 a.m. it's 41 in atlantic city. 32 in philadelphia. see the sunshine. temperatures getting close to 50 by 11:00 a.m. in the afternoon. near 60. reading at 61. philly at 60 and later on during the afternoon again near 60 so that is pretty amazing for this time of year. there we are saturday and sunday mid-60s. monday is a good bit cooler but that's 10 degrees above normal for this time of year and bright sunshine so cooler weather in the lehigh valley, 57. cooler weather at the jersey shore with 54 on saturday because of a southwest wind. the wind will be a little bit more of a land breeze on sunday so it will be warmer then.

a lightsout performance at a local high school basketball game inbe berks county, literal. >> look at how the crowd reacted, though. this was during the berks conference championship game. power went out during the middle of the game so the marching ban started playing to get the crowd fired up. the power went off at 8 k34r0:3 game didn't start until 10:00 so they lit up their cell phones. tonight jim kenney is firing back over chris christie over the comments he made about phillies fans.

>> on wednesday night the governor called the fan base angry and bitter and said citizens bank park isn't safe. on 94 wip, the mayor unleashed on the governor. >> i kind of feel sorry for the guy. he's got the biggest "l" on his forehead. he's the most unpopular mayor in the state of new jersey history. he threw all his people under the bus after he shut the bridge down. he ran for president for one hod mess minute around when that was over he was thinking he was going to get a big job with donald trump but forgot he put jared kushner's father in jail so he wasn't becoming attorney general. >> so this is isn't dying down at all is it, marshall harris with csn. just picking up steam. >> basically. the mayor not the only one taking offense. up next, larry boa issues a challenge to the new jersey governor and even without joel embiid, the sixers were rell represented in the rising stars
