tonight on nbc 10 news at 6:00, weekend warm-up, temperatures in the 60s all across our area, including at this polar plunge at the jersey shore. how long the springlike weather will last in the first alert forecast. taking it to the streets, ahead of a rally down south from president trump, bikers ride down center city and block traffic to send a message. tonight one cab driver is in the hospital and another in custody after a shooting in northeast philadelphia. we'll tell you what started it all. good evening, a 20-degree difference between yesterday and today and neighbors from all over our region were taking full advantage of it.

take a look at the philadelphia museum of art. museum goers and joggers were out on the rocky steps and taking in the sun during this long weekend. just a reminder it is still february. here's a live look at camelback mountain resort where the slopes were packed today despite temperatures in the 60s. time for the nbc 10 first alert neighborhood forecast. let's go to erika martin. >> it was pretty much a perfect day all around, all thanks to a high pressure system keeping everything high and dry. all we're seeing are a few upper level clouds, otherwise a great day. sunset was at 5:40 p.m. so all around just lovely, current temperatures 61 degrees, we topped out at 68 degrees, not quite the record of 69 set back in 2011. currently southwesterly winds at 12 miles per hour.

neighborhoods in philadelphia, still seeing lots of 60s out there. 64 for west mount airy and pair of sixes for manayunk. port richmond, 61 degrees. society hill, 65. i cannot emphasize just how pleasant these conditions are right now. and taking a look at the lehigh valley, lots of 60s for you up there in northwest and 63. 60 for nazareth and bath and walnut port, bethlehem 61. conditions for the most part are nice and mild. we're seeing a southwesterly flow. so for the past couple of days we've been seeing northwesterly winds which is like conditions were influenced by that colder air mass. now we're seeing the warm front to the north of us. we're in the warm sector.

all of that warm air sliding into place. look at the winds right now. dover air force base, southerly winds at 16 miles per hour. southwesterly here in philadelphia, millville, southwesterly and atlantic city, 9-mile-per-hour wind speeds, conditions are ideal. i do have to show you, 24 hours temperature difference. towns much warmer at the same time as we did yesterday. we'll talk more about this 24-hour temperature change and of course your ten-day on 10. see you in a bit. the start of a long weekend at the jersey shore began with a plunge. people took a moment to remember it's still winter by dropping into a frigid atlantic ocean. drew smith is live where the mild temperatures have drawn huge crowds. drew? >> reporter: they stayed outside all day. really nice weather. they do this event every year and last year it was 6 degrees

out here. what a difference. right now the party continues in these white tents and probably didn't even need to enclose them this year. people having a good time and only part of today that felt like winter when they dove into the ocean. sea isle city has seen polar bear plunge make the jump in 39 degree ocean water. >> makes you feel alive for sure. it's freezing. >> reporter: some of the plungers spent a little longer in the surf knowing it was above 60 degrees on the beach when they got out. >> i felt colder water in a hot tub before. it wasn't anything. >> reporter: this event brings out brave people, young and old. >> an amazing thing to do at any age, come on down, it's beautiful. >> reporter: some willing to go against doctor's orders. >> my cardologist said don't do it again but i'm going to do it anyway. >> reporter: the fundraiser features a king and queen who raised more than 20 grand for autism charities and plenty of other costumes and even political satire.

night, three officers were hurt, four people were arrested when a peaceful march against the trump administration turned chaotic. demonstrators shot mace and paint in their eyes. happening right now in florida, president trump is holding a make america great again rally at an airport in melbourne. this after an unprecedented week in politics including the president's first solo news conference. nbc 10 joins us with the details. >> reporter: president trump is 29 days into the presidency and already looking ahead to 2020. he took the stage about 20 minutes ago for the campaign style event. here's a live look at the rally where the president is still addressing supporters. large crowds baernlg gathered for the make america great again rally. he continued his familiar america first theme and laid out plans for the future. he also took on the press

conference of diplomats that the u.s. supports nato and will hold russia accountable even as president trump looks for new common ground with moscow. new at 6:00, a cab driver is under arrest accused of shooting another cab driver three times after a fight just a couple of hours ago. police say the drivers were fighting over a fare, one ever them pulled a knife and the other pulled a gun. sepp at a says no rider were hurt and service wasn't interrupted. >> still in jail tonight, bashir was in court this morning charged with attempted homicide. police tell us she was arguing with her neighbor yesterday in comin comingsdale, when she grabbed a steak knife and stabbed the young girl. told us it was a mistake. >> it was a mistake between both

of them because there was an argue the and there was a mistake. she's not a criminal. >> police tell us the argument was about baby sitting and other children saw the stabbing happen. the 8-year-old is expected to be okay bashir is expected back in court later this month. calls today for clean water at philadelphia schools and prisons. black lives matter philadelphia held today's event in center city and want to know why the water at west philadelphia high school is discolored. what's being done to fix the problem? they say the school isn't the only issue that inmates in the state's prisons are also dealing with contaminated drinking water. >> school to prison pipeline, they are poisoning the children in the school and through the water and at the same time the same thing is happening with the inmates. >> after the meeting the group

marched through center city to governor tom wolf's office. we first told you about the school water problem back in december. an nbc 10 viewer sent us video of discolored water pouring from a faucet. officials told us water fountains were shut down and cafeteria food was prepared at another location as a precaution. well, take a look at what's left of a police suv in atlanta county. a pleasantville police officer crashed into a tree on route 9 around 5:30 this morning. he was taken to the hospital and expected to be okay. investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the officer to drive off that road. we'll try to have that video tonight at 11:00. >> a woman and her kids are shaken up but okay after a truck toppled over on to their suv this afternoon. the woman says she was at a stop sign and she saw the truck speeding around a curve. she knew right away the truck was going to flip.

at the jersey shore today the lower township police department remembered an officer killed in the line of duty more than 20 years ago today. david douglas senior was killed after a gun battle with a suspect 23 years ago today in north cape may. flags were flying at half staff at township hall and at the police department. a new exhibit is shining a light on a 75th anniversary of the presidential executive order that forced japanese americans into internment camps. uprooted at the friends center in center city, the traveling exhibit focuses on foreign labor camps. and she was born in a camp in idaho and considering the political climate, now is the perfect time for people to see the exhibit. the exhibit is in town through march 9th.

i'm erika martin. conditions are pretty nice. it's quiet across the area -- erika martin will be talking to us about the forecast. the weekend warm-up is here and you can see a live look at cape may. warm temperatures and breaking some records. >> i didn't mean to cut you off. we're talking about really warm temperatures. i get really excited about that. weather headlines, overnight lows bofr the normal high today for today. across the entire delaware valley, temperatures overnight in the 40s. be sure to look in the bottom of the screen for your local neighborhood most accurate 7-day forecast. weather headlines also include possibly record breaking high temperatures on sunday. and monday a cooler and breezy day, a frontal boundary sweeping on through. a little bit cooler but temperatures will be above normal. satellite and radar image right now, picking up on just a few

clouds, there's an upper level low to the southwest hovering right over the tennessee valley. this is why we're seeing a little bit of an influence there, otherwise for the most part conditions are mostly clear. and hour by hour forecast starting at 6:00 p.m. notice we're seeing a southwesterly flow. so that does tell me of course we have that warmer air sliding into place. it's not going to be leaving here until that cold front sweeps on down and that's when temperatures will decline into the 50s. at 8:30, we see a shift there. southwesterly to westerlies otherwise wider perspective, this is the low affecting the tennessee valley. for most part we're not going to see anything as far as that's concerned, a really nice stretch of weather ahead. current temperatures in the 60s, coatesville, 59 for you. almost at 60. philadelphia 61, mount holly, 63 degrees, the normal value for philadelphia is 44 degrees. today's high 68. we did not break the record, 69 set back in 2011.

and sunset was at 5:40 p.m. so let's take a look at the 24-hour difference here. temperature change. it's 19 degrees warmer at the same time today than it was yesterday in philadelphia and mount holly, 22. vine land, 26 degrees. so a really nice trend here. coatesville, 25 degrees warmer at the same time it was yesterday and that's pretty much going to be the story for tomorrow as temperatures climb about 1 or 20 degrees warmer. neighborhoods right now in and across the delaware valley. jersey, look at this, lots of 60s, south jersey, 60s for you. upper 50s for clayton and pitman at 60. turnersville 63. mount laurel 62. robinville also seeing mid 60s and princeton a pair of fives for you. all around a really mild evening.

along the jersey shore slightly cooler temperatures, 51, upper township, 53. cape may courthouse at 52. may's landing at 60. and egg harbor township currently at 59. overnight lows, look at this, we're seeing mainly mid to upper 40s and allentown 42 degrees and coatesville 43. the normal high is 44. overnight lows above the normal highs for this time of the year. not bad at all. tomorrow's high temperatures, plenty of sunshine and mostly sunny skies and 631 the reinspected high in reading. easton, upper 50s. 62 for phoenixville, newtown 64. in just a bit we have more nbc 10 and i have your ten-day forecast. see you then.
