we begin with breaking news of a car stolen with a child inside in philadelphia's nice town section. you are looking at live pictures right here from sky force 10 of the scene. >> the vehicle was just found in the 1600 block of st. paul street. it was taken from the 4600 block of siddenham. choppers are seen over that scene. it is unclear if the child is inside. right now there are no arrests. this is nice town, philadelphia. police looking at a stolen vehicle that has a young child inside. no arrests. you see the activity there from sky force 10 in nice town. we'll keep a close look and let

spoke to tonight said not long after the second kidnapping, a group of women expressed interest in one of his classes. an armed kidnapper tracked a woman down and forced her into her suv. when our nbc news crew returned to the arundel apartments, an armed masked man kidnapped a woman at this location. the news upset marci whose friend lives here. what were you thinking? >> that she shouldn't live here any more. >> reporter: the suspect assaulted the woman and then sexually assaulted her. >> the fact the same thing happened in another apartment community is concerning. >> reporter: the kidnapping got smith's attention. he teaches self-defense in

clermont. >> you cannot give yourself to the victim. >> reporter: they were held at gunpoint behind the wheel as they were going to the atm. one option is to take your hand, move it to the seat belt, move it up and take the gun to the steering wheel. smith showed us several examples, including armed confrontations with a suspect. what you can't change is how a dangerous encounter ends. >> when someone is about to attack you, you can control the outcome. >> reporter: coming back live now, a resident told us she would like to see more lighting just like this here in this apartment complex. newcastle county police released a vague description of the suspect saying he's 5'8", drives a light-colored suv and has a thick accent. he also speaks loudly about his plans before following through on them. nbc 10 news. and to this the pick is in of president trump's selection for national security adviser. it is a man from philadelphia.

>> lieutenant general h.r. mcmaster grew up to roxborough, and he's now taking the helm in a nation that saw its previous leader resign after just a month on the job. >> have yyou've spoken to mcmas family friends in roxborough who say he's up to the job. >> i spoke to his aunt and sister tonight who say he's the greatest brother in the world, not to mention his neighbors who say they've felt very safe under his watch. herbert raymond mcmaster, nicknamed h.r. by his mother, liz grew up across the street and described it as a neighborhood family. >> we all played together. we played build up the army, tag, kickball, all those things, together. >> reporter: general mcmaster attended germantown's northern academy, the military academy and westpoint. >> always an upstanding young

will cause this myth i cic epic war on campus. hundreds gathered for a not my presidents day rally. demonstrators gathered in thomas payne plaza across from city hall. they carried signs denouncing the trump administration. similar rallies were held in new york, chicago and los angeles. the fate of undocumented immigrants in philadelphia was the focus of a meeting tonight in south philly, the group popular alliance for undocumented workers hosting this event to build on the day of immigrants event. they hope to get restaurants to stand in solidarity with their workers. also a discussion about the future of the affordable care act tonight in westchester university. aca users shared personal stories of how obamacare has helped them and what will happen with them and their loved ones if and when it goes away. they're urging lawmakers not to

repeal the program. president trump has indicated he wants to replace obamacare but keep several popular provisions. there are now seven candidates vying to replace seth williams as district attorney. he officially threw his hat into the ring today. he asked voters to judge him by the accomplishments of the da's office and not by the mistakes of his former boss. williams announced earlier this month that he would not seek reelection following annett ix scandal. >> with respect to the way that he handles how he handles, and with respect to the way that i handle the way i handle, we're two different people. >> reporter: al shabazz also faces questions of his own. he said he owes $100,000 in tax liens to the irs and others, but it would not affect his ability to be leader. there are six other

candidates. the race also includes one republican. a public hearing was held centering around new testing guidelines scheduled to go into effect this school year. parents and local lawmakers took part in tonight's discussion in arcadia university in glenside. the every child succeeds bill was signed into action by president obama in 2015. it's added to no child left behind. this man is wanted for starting a fire outside the famous queens deli. police say the deli caught fire just a few minutes later, but that part was not caught on camera. giving new meaning to the term "playing through" as golfers at one local course are are forced to play around this airplane in upper hanover. that plane crashed on the butter valley golf course yesterday. it's still sitting on the

fairway tonight. because of the holiday weekend, faa advisers won't get on the scene until tomorrow to figure out what happened. for now the broken airplane is just another obstacle sitting on the 10th fairway. >> it's amazing to see it while we're playing. that's why i came over and took pictures of it with my cell phone. >> i think i'm going to take a mulligan if i hit it. >> all four people on board the cessna 180 managed to walk away from the crash without any injuries. a serious security breach at jfk airport. authorities are still trying to find eight of 11 people who went through a check point unattended. they were on surveillance video before boarding a flight to california. the tsa says they weren't properly screened and set off alarms after going through metal detectors. they say it causes minimal risk to the tsa, but it's being reviewed. the department of health today began accepting

but it has to stay on budget. new at 11:00, an auction for a piece of atlantic city's history has been taken off line tonight. an ebay auction popped up for the iconic trump sign from the now closed taj mahal casino. prior to taking it down, the highest bid was $1700. no word if the auction was stopped or if it was authentic in the first place. that sign was part of the trump branding removed from the casino this month as part of the agreement with the building's new owner. we continue to follow this breaking news in nicetown, police investigating that stolen vehicle that had a young child inside. the vehicle was found in the 1600 block of st. paul street. this is the scene you're looking at here. this is new information here, though. a four-year-old boy was not inside the vehicle. he remains missing right now. nbc 10's denise nacono is on the

updating our breaking news now, a car stolen with a child inside. sky force 10 is live over the scene in nicetown. denise nacono just arrived on the scene with new information for us. denise, what can you tell us? >> reporter: the scene is very active here at 16th and st.

paul. police officers, including chief inspector scott barr inspecting a late model sedan. we understand there was a delivery driver driving and somehow this car was stolen from him, and there was a young child in the vehicle at the time. so that was at the 4600 block of siddenham. here we are right now just before 11:00 finding this car here at 16th and st. paul. police officers have checked the vehicle. there is no child here, so right now they're on the ground, helicopters in the air looking for this young child that no one seems to be able to locate at this hour. it seems like earlier tonight they were talking to a young man who appears to be possibly the driver of this vehicle, but right now they are at a point where panic has set in a bit for that family because the four-year-old is nowhere to be found. preliminary reports say the child was last seen wearing jeans and a white t-shirt and some tan timberlands. but right now a k-9 unit is here

on the ground, there are police on patrol searching the block surrounding this vehicle and they're in the air searching many blocks around this point of 16th and st. paul. right now we're waiting to talk to the chief to give us more information. reporting live, i'm denise nacono, nbc 10 news. >> in there's any information, come back to us. thank you. new at 11:00, three people arrested after a fire broke out at a new hampshire basketball game on the court. here's video that happened at webster college. the whole thing was witnessed by a police officer working security. 25 officers were called in for backup. the school tweeted out that saturday night's game was the last in the school's history. new at 11:00, a group of teenagers is recovering tonight after they fell through an ice-covered pond in central park. officials say seven teenagers between the age of 15 and 16 years old were on the ice when it caved in.

rescue units managed to get the teens out and to the hospital. five out of the seven were suffering from hypothermia related injuries, but everyone is expected to be okay. new at 11:00, delaware state police going above and beyond the call of duty to help a young girl battling cancer. >> some pictures we're going to show you here taken earlier today outside children's hospital. nearly 50 officers rolled out the red carpet for zoe. she is battling stage 4 neu neuroblastoma. they staged the procession complete with a police escort home. mild temperatures with a bone dry forest. they're sparking issues of forest fires in new jersey. >> today the firefighters burned brush. the hope is that this will prevent a fire later on. just yesterday more than 500 acres in a remote part of

manchester township burned. that's unusually large for this time of year. turning to our weather during a week that certainly does not feel like february. >> sure doesn't. nbc 10 in westchester. we found people wearing jackets tonight, but they skipped the heavy coats, and it's going to be even warmer later this week. glenn, i can't believe these numbers in the forecast. >> that's right, we got up to 70 yesterday, and that's not the end of the 70-degree weather. some folks not happy about that, for example, a lot of skiers. this is camelback up in the p e pocon poconos, and it's too warm up there for good skiing conditions. 34 allentown, 39 pottstown, trenton 34. even these numbers are above average for this time of year, but they're still 10 to 16 degrees colder than they were at this time last night. so tomorrow morning, yeah, it's going to be colder than what we have seen in the last couple of days.

the average high is only 45, up to 68 saturday. 70 for a record yesterday, 58 on monday and then down to 53 tuesday. coldest day of the week still eight degrees above normal before we start going back up. and by thursday, friday, and maybe saturday we could still be 70. we're dry in the east. we still have some high clouds around. it's still dry, though. the closest rain is still west of chicago, so i don't think there is a big threat here over the next couple of days. here's the futurecast. we go through the next couple days and we could see some clouds from time to time and not until thursday do we see any kind of showers getting close. so i would say there is a chance perhaps late thursday or thursday night, but it's not a real high chance. tomorrow we've got a southeast wind, and that will keep things a little cooler, especially at the beaches, but these are above average temperatures.

constantly getting information from right on the scene of our breaking news. the car stolen with a child inside. sky force 10 live over that location in nicetown. >> nbc 10's denise nacono live on the scene on the ground. still no sign of the four-year-old boy? >> still no sign of the four-year-old boy who was in the car that was stolen. police are talking to a man, we presume he's a witness, possibly the driver of this late model station wagon. they've been talking to him. he's been in a short-sleeved shirt the whole time, shivering

out here as police try to get his encounter of what happened about 4:30 on the 1500 block of siddenham. the car was stolen with the four-year-old boy inside. it landed here in the 1600 block of st. paul. this is where the investigation starts and it kind of leads out from here. we have k-9, police helicopters in the sky and police searching blocks around this area and police on the ground talking to this man first looking in the vehicle to see if there is a child inside. there is no child. the four-year-old was described as last wearing a white t-shirt, blue jeans and tan timberland boots. we're still waiting for chief scott small to give us an update on what he knows, but right now that four-year-old is still missing, they're still looking for him at this hour. nbc 10, nicetown, i'm denise

updating our breaking news out of nicetown, a car stolen with a child inside. you can see sky force 10 live over that scene. still no sign of the four-year-old boy who was inside that vehicle. the car was found here at this location. the 6800 block of st. paul street. the boy was not inside. we can tell you he was wearing jeans, a white t-shirt and tan timberland boots.
