septa trains collide. four people are injured after an incident on the tracks in upper darby. condemning anti-semitism. president trump makes a new statement about a recent wave of hate crimes. warm weather is returning, temperatures will climb again, and this time they could go even higher than they did this weekend. right now a train accident along the market frankford lines that sends four people to the hospital. the trains were not in service at the time of this wreck. good morning. i'm vai sikahema. the injured victims were on board two separate cars.

this all happened near the 69th street transportation center. pamela osborne starts us off live from the scene. what are you hearing about the four people injured in the collision. >> reporter: a 57-year-old man who was operated that train is in critical condition. about a half dozen cars are off the track right now. take a look for yourself. here's what else we're being told by investigators. one train, train number 57, hit a stopped train on this seam track. another train that was moving in the opposite direction on another track was sideswiped. there were two civilians on board and they were injured. the fire chief tells us a total of four people were hurt. the breakdown is two septa employees and queue passengers. two people suffered head injuries and were semiconscious when they were transported to the hospital by an ambulance this morning. another two people had knee and ankle injuries.

two of the patients when to delaware county. the other went to lincoln. one of the train operators is in critical condition right now. i talked to one man who lived in the area. >> i heard a big bang. then all of a sudden i heard the fire engines and all. i knew something big happened, but i didn't know what until i got here and seen this mess. >> reporter: so how did all of this happen? that's still under investigation right now as we take a live look back out here at the scene. these cars with stable despite the fact they are off of the tracks at this hour. so now that investigation begins into exactly what happened, how fast those cars were moving at the time of accident. we also know federal officials have been notified of this accident. nbc10 news. >> jessica boyington is checking

on how this is impacting commuter rail service. what can you tell us? >> earlier, we were seeing some delays. now the market frankford service, there's an investigation of course of the train accident just near that. 69th street transportation center. what they're doing in place of that is shuttle bussing. they're operating that service between 69th street and 63rd street there as well. of course, it is in upper darby also. earlier parts of market street were shut down. that looks back open right here. now the transportation center is right in this general area. we have a closure. that's actually 69th street, but there's a bunch of roads in the area that are impacted, we west chester, pike, and victory avenue as well. police were there investigating an accident involving a school bus and a car that was driven by a student. there were no serious injuries.

map and you'll see what i'm talking about. radar would pick up the rain or snow. we don't have anything like that in the viewing area, but we do have are the clouds. that's the grayish color across the board. some clouds throughout your tuesday and temperatures a little lower as a result. here's the temperature trend. we hit a high of 68 on saturday. we hit 70 on sunday. yesterday we still made it up to 58. notice where the average is. 45 degrees. still way warmer than is typical for this time of year. today we get closer, but still warmer than average. we climb right back up. we're starting in the low to mid 60s for your wednesday, but we have more 70s on the board as we get through the rest of your workweek and even your weekend. all right. the search is on for a gunman who fired a shot at philadelphia police. this happened late last night at fifth street and champ lost avenue in albany. officers approached a group of

men who were shooting at each other. one man fired at officers. no officers were hurt. the person repelled through a vent in the building's roof using a rope. he stole cash along with a gun. this happened last week at 4:00 in the morning on north broad street. a rope was also used to break into the kcostco in king f prussia last week. he stole thousands of dollars in jewels. police are looking to see if the same man involved is the same man in the lansdale burglary. president trump is condemning anti-semitism. he toured the new museum for the first time. while there, he said the recent wave of attacks on the jewish

community must stop. >> the anti-semitic threats targeting our jewish community and community centers are horrible and are painful and very sad reminder of the work that still must be done to root out hate and prejudice and evil. >> the fbi is investigating a string of bomb threats against jewish community centers nationwide. since the new year, authorities say 54 jewish centers have been targeted in 27 states. 11 new threats were called in monday. also today the president may sign an executive order issuing a new travel ban. the white house hopes the new order will counter the federal court's objections to his current ban. it's expected to target the same seven majority muslim countries, but it would only bar entry to those without a visa and who have never entered the united

states before. employees at the environmental protection agency will hear from their new boss today. scott pruitt was confirmed by the senate friday. he's expected to lay out his vision for the agency today. pruitt believes the epa needs to be cut down in size and regulations reign regulations reined in. sunday night there was another attack about 15 miles away at the arundal apartments in pine creek. >> the same thing happened in other apartment communities is concerning. >> the most recent incident police say a man held a woman at gunpoint, forced her into a dark colored suv, then physically and sexually assaulted her. he forced her to drive to withdraw money from atms. police say at least two men

armed with electrical tape and plastic ties broke into the victims' home through the garage friday night. the men attacked the 51-year-old victim and left him tied up and gagged in a back upstairs bedroom unable to get help for two days. the victim's brother broke through a second floor window and fiound him. neighbors were shocked. >> i was here friday. we didn't even notice anything. >> the victim's brother says surveillance video caught the attackers on video. his condition is improving and he's now able to communicate. it is highway safety awareness week in pennsylvania. there's a change in the child passenger safety law. it requires rear facing car seats for all children under the age 2 or who don't meet the

transportation center in a little bit of a lockdown in a sense. it was the market frankford line train that was involved in the collision. shuttle buses are operating between 69th street and 63rd street. market street earlier was closed to traffic. right now back open, but you can definitely see a little bit of a slowdown, at least on some of the roads around the area. impacting market street, west chester pike, and victory avenue. watch for delays surrounding the station as well and be prepared to be shuttle bussed. an australian vacation turns tragic for four americans that were killed along with their pilot when their charter plane crashed into a shopping center in melbourne. the pilot reported a catastrophic engine failure moments before this plane

this morning the tsa is trying to figure out why a checkpoint at new york's jfk airport was left unattended. because of that, 11 passengers were able to get on flights without going through screenings. the security breach happened yesterday morning. the tsa says it's confident the incident presents minimal risk to the aviation transportation system. doctors have long known cancer is the leading cause of death among hispanic americans in general. researchers have discovered that cubans have the highest overall cancer death rates for men and women. more cubans than puerto ricans die from endometrial and breast cancer. the study did not look into the reason for the ethnic differences. your electronic devices could be making you age faster

weathertech. made right, in america a train accident along the market frankford line sends four people to the hospital. one of them is listed in critical condition. this all happened near the 69th street transportation center. we have live team coverage on the accident and how it is impacting traffic in our area. pamela osborne is on the scene. pam, tell us what you're learning. >> reporter: we got some updated information from the septa safety investigators who were here on scene. a total of seven cars are now off the tracks. you can see them right here. two septa operators were injured. one of them a 57-year-old man is in critical condition right now. two passengers were also hurt

when three six-car trains collided. investigators say train number 57 wuas moving when it collided with another train on this same track. the train that was hit was not moving. at the same time a third train that was in motion in the opposite direction on a different track was sideswiped. this all happened just a few minutes after 8:00 this morning. if you're familiar with the station, you'll know when the trains round this corner, passengers have already usually gotten off at the platform. again, the operator from train 57, the initial train that hit, is in critical condition right now. the other people have non-life-threatening injuries. here's the fire chief on exactly what those injuries are. >> two suffered ankle injuries. one person lunged forward and put their hands up to stop them. actually, it was a knee injury. and there were two people with

head injuries, disoriented, semiconscious. >> reporter: despite the appearance of these train cars, they're actually stable. so we've seen septa workers on the tracks here at times going in and out of some of those cars here to begin their investigation. we're trying to figure out more as to how this all happened. one of the questions they're working to figure out is how fast those trains were going, if there was some sort of a signal issue. again, all part of this active investigation which is underway right now. reporting live in upper darby, i'm pamela osborne. first alert jessica boyington is checking on how this is impacting commuter rail service. jess, what can you tell us? >> considering there is a collision here and there were injuries underway, you can see that halted service. additionally, it's the market frankford line with that investigation near 69th street transportation center.
