several democratic lawmakers are calling for resignation of attorney general jeff sessions after a new bomb shell report says the a.g. had contact with russia's ambassador on more than one occasion. it is a fast moving story developing throughout the night. >> 9:22 eastern time and here we were with preexisting plans to take on this topic for two hours tonight. the washington post is out with a headline that reads, "sessions, the attorney general, spoke twice with russian ambassador during trump's presidential campaign, justice officials say." now quote forgive that piece, "sessions did not disclose when asked about possible contacts between members of president trump's campaign and representatives of moscow during sessions' confirmation hearing to become attorney general." here now is that moment from his confirmation hearing on january 10th. >> if there is any evidence that anyone affiliated with the trump

campaign communicated with the russian government in the course of this campaign, what will you do? >> senator franken, i'm an wear of any -- aware of any of those activities. i have been called a surrogate or two in that campaign and i did not have communications with the russians, and i'm unable to comment on it. >> and the d.o.j. released this statement saying, there was absolutely nothing misleading about sessions' answer. last year the senator had over 25 conversations with foreign ambassadors as the senior member of the armed services committee klug the canadian, australian russian and german ambassadors. he what asked about communications between russia and the trump campaign, not about meetings he took as a senator. but reaction was swift against sessions as details unfolded. >> i know you've got al frank ep now who was on the committee saying he should recuse himself. but nancy pelosi now saying he should resign. >> at the very least he should

recuse himself and quite possibly if he's going to be the one who sets the standard for all of our u.s. attorneys throughout the country, i don't think that that's a good place for him to be. >> it very clearly indicates he must now recuse himself. >> it is clear to me that jeff sessions who is my dear friend cannot make this decision about trump. so, they may be not -- there may be nothing there but if there is something there that the fbi believes is criminal in nature, then for sure you need a special prosecutor. >> and now two key dems including fire brand elizabeth warren has come out against sessions demanding he resign. others saying he should at least recuse himself from the investigation. meanwhile, a second report is rattling washington with "the new york times" headline that reads, the obama administration rushed to preserve intelligence of russian election hacking. quoting within the story, in the obama administrations last days, they skramled efforts to

undermine thement shal election and about possible contact between associates of trump and russians across the government. the paper cited a half dozen official. american allies had provided information in cities between russian officials and trump associates. the paper also reports american intel agencies have intercepted communications between russian official. some within the kremlin discussing contacts with trump allies. well, that all comes as we get word the house intel committee is now agreed to investigate whether there was any collusion between russia and the trump campaign. president trump has denied his campaign had any contact with russian official. well, today you can own your own piece of snapchat by buying it. the social media company will start publicly trading this morning on the new york times. listed as snap, it is offering 200 million shares at a starting price of $17 each. several years ago the snapchat co-founders turned down a $3

billion offer from facebook to buy the company and it looks like they made the right choice with snapchat's expected value of $24 billion. now to another highly anticipated ipo this year is uber, but the company has come under fire recently for a number of controversies. in the latest one the company ceo apologizing after a heated exchange with an uber driver went viral. nbc' miguel has the tape. >> there it is, there it is. >> reporter: the controversial uber ceo was in an uber when the confrontation began. >> i lost $97,000 because of you. i'm bankrupt because of you. >> reporter: travis was in an uber black, his company's high-end car service when driver ka malcriticized the uber founder for slashing prices and the income of drivers. >> you dropped the prices. >> on black. >> yes, you did, $20. >> reporter: the heated exchange ends when cal nick leave the

considered running before, but then rubenstein pointed out her popularity and alluded to president trump's lack of experience. >> it's clear that you don't need government experience to be elected president of the united states, right? >> that's what i thought. oh, gee, i don't have the experience. i don't know enough. now i'm thinking, oh. >> oh, so we're going to have to see if she'll campaign giving everybody a car. all right. right now a blizzard warning is in effect what is likely the last place you might have expected. two mountain summits on hawaii's big island are expected to get between 6 and 10 inches of snow along with wind gusts up to 65 miles per hour. snow isn't uncommon at those elevations which reach nearly 14,000 feet. back on the main land, a powerful line of storms are racing east. wind gusts up to 60 miles an hour with 104 million people in its path. hail pounded parts of alabama and relentless wind and rain in tennessee. storms tipping a trailener kentucky.

severe weather a across the country caused over 2000 flight delays just on wednesday. here is nbc meteorologist bill karins with a look at the day ahead and hopefully a little bit more calm, but i don't know what is in store, bill. >> we could use it after the last two days. that big huge storm is it exiting off the coast. the cold front is blowing through. the thing we're going to deal with today behind this is pretty strong gusty winds especially in the northeast, little little there in the appalachians. in all over 80 million people under wind advisories or high wind from atlantic city, hartford through providence and boston. the highest winds will occur now till mid afternoon to the early evening and then they'll die off. right now wind 44 miles per hour in philadelphia. looks like right around 9:00 a.m. or to about noon or so is when the highest winds will be in new york city, boston, southern new england. power outage is possible good morning, i'm meteorologist bill henley.

fast forwarding in the third day, president trump will talk about military spending aboard the aircraft carrier uss gerald ford. the president's proposed budget called for a $54 billion increase for military spending for what he says is to rebuild the military. the full senate will hold a vote this morning on dr. ben carson's nomination to be secretary of housing and urban development. he is expected to get the simple majority needed to be confirmed despite having no government experience. and new orleans pelican player is helping those impacted by

tornadoes that hit southern louisiana on february 7. he says he'll donate $1,000 for each point and assist he records during friday night's game against the san antonio spurs. well, stocks soaring to new heights with the dow surging past the 21,000 mark. with the other indices also setting records. and the dow industrials on a tear since election day, up over 15%. well, today's big ipo keep the market hot? cnbc steve sedgwick has the latest from london. steve, good morning. >> good morning, frances. perfect backdrop to launch the messaging ipo snap, parent of snapchat. $24 billion, you look at what was $400 million last year. you're talking about trailing levels of around 60 fiemz last year's sales. that i can assure you is enormous for a company that lost over $500 million last year. elsewhere marissa meyer, the ceo of yahoo! is going to forego any equity awards, any bonuses due to previous security breaches that occurred during her tenure.

shaking nights. howling winds. the winds have topped 40 miles an hour. they're gusting to 41 right now at philadelphia. at the airport, even stronger in trenton, 46-mile-per-hour winds. those winds near 40 miles an hour for atlantic city and wildwood. it will be on the move the first thing this morning. the temperatures, they're not going to move all that much. we're at 49 in the lehigh valley. 46 in the suburbs. low 50s for new jersey, delaware and philadelphia this afternoon. we'll get some sunshine, the wind will be dying out somewhat during the day but the temperatures will still be in the 40s and 50s. a kind of a go anywhere temperature day. but the winds, that's the story this morning and those will be changing through the day. i'll take you through neighborhood by neighborhood when i come back in ten minutes but first, jessica boyington has the "first alert" traffic. >> there's a downed tree on 295 heads southbound around exit 56.

with that wind, we are seeing some spots with some of that damage from high winds, of course. also watching another one in new jersey in hammonton. ashton road and the vine street expressway is open this morning, i'll be dealing with the construction and updates in cameras when i come back in ten minutes. we're following a developing story from overnight. top democrats are calling on attorney general jeff sessions to resign after reports of his contact with russia. democratic senators said sessions misled them during confirmation hearings and now sessions in charge of the fbi which is investigating the trump campaign's communications with the russians. a lot to sort out here. nbc10's katy zachry is following the overnight developments. what are they saying right now? >> at this point, we've still not heard from him directly on this but a spokesperson for the ag has come out saying he did not mislead lawmakers.
