breaking news right now, a terror strike with multiple casualties is taking place at this moment at a military hospital in kabul. located just feet from the u.s. embassy. here at home, more than a million acres are burning in four states. loss to property growing and at least a half dozen died from fast moving wild fires. this morning the ntsb want answers to what caused a freight train to slam into a tour bus killing four. from a wikileaks bomb shell to republican infighting over their own new health care bill, the administration has its hands full and take a look, is this the future of commuter travel? good wednesday morning. i'm frances rivera and we begin with that breaking news in kabul where a standoff is underway after gun men stormed a military hospital near the u.s. embassy. nbc's matt bradley is live in london following developments. matt, what more do we know? >> reporter: good morning, frances. as you mention, breaking news this morning, an attack on kabul's main military hospitals. it's left at least three dead and more than 66 people injured. now, those numbers unfortunately are likely to rise. the hospital is one of the afghan capital's top medical facilities and it's only about 200 meters away really across the street from the u.s. embassy. and that's so far -- embassy learned from afghan authorities this complex attack is actually ongoing. there are reportedly at least four gun men, probably five still fighting in the hospital. one of the assailants already blew himself up at the rear entrance to make room for the others to enter the hospitals

are usually covered by high level of security this is a 400 bed hospital, is one of the most secure. reports say the gun men entered the hospital as i mentioned through a back gate, using a suicide bomber in order to clear the way. the attackers and there were about five of them were disguised actually as medical personnel and they used automatic weapons and hand grenades to attack staff. this is just augering for what donald trump is inheriting in afghanistan. back to you, frances. >> and the hope is the u.s. embassy stays secure. matt, thank you. here at home at least six people are dead after fast moving grass fires race through the center of the country. more than a million acres have been scorched across texas, oklahoma, colorado and kansas. the fire started in oklahoma where 22 counties were under a state of emergency there. the largest evacuations, though, were in reno county, kansas, where at least 10,000 people evacuated their homes. at leeflt one person was killed in both of those states and there were at least four more victims in texas. dry conditions and fierce winds of up to 60 miles an hour had

increased the risk for wild fires. the situation is still dangerous, but officials say fire activity is slowing across the region. oklahoma storm prediction center expects the winds to die down tomorrow making it easier to fight the fires. mississippi is reeling after four people were killed and 40 others injured in a scary collision. authorities say a freight train slammed into this charter bus and dragged it some 300 feet down the tracks. 48 people were on the bus. first responders had to pull some passengers through windows and use the jaws of life to remove two victims from the bus. of the survivors, eight suffered critical injuries. most of them were members of a senior center in texas. the bus was traveling from austin to a casino in blocks i. witnesses say the bus became stuck on the tracks and police said the crash happened at a, quote, steep crossing and that they recommended buses not cross the tracks there. the ntsb is sending a team this morning to investigate. this morning a bomb shell from wikileaks has the

intelligence community on edge and is threatening the cyber security of millions of americans. the organization released what it says contains the cia's entire hacking capacity to get into your smartphones, your cars, tvs and other electronics. apple this morning releasing a statement saying, many of the issues leaked were already patched in the latest phone software. microsoft and google say they are investigating. but for some americans, this breach could hit closer to home. nbc's peter alexander reports. >> reporter: wikileaks posting a giant trove of cia documents that it claims reveal secret techniques that exploit security vun ralts in electronic devices all of it to spy on their owners. nearly 9,000 documents that expose software tools designed to break into any iphone or android and bypass secure messaging apps like what's app and signal. one revealing how to eaves drop on signals to interconnected tvs

when they appear to be turned off. even a hack from microsoft windows named after a character in a popular will ferrell movie. nbc news hasn't authenticated the documents and they are not releasing the source. cia isn't commenting. computer experts and former officials are treating the documents as real as well as the alleged security breach. >> we have always been worried about spies inside our algt siz. what is different now is that technology has allowed the fruits of that spying, if you will, to be more powerful in the hands of our adversaries. >> reporter: the spying tools intelligence experts say would have been used exclusively for foreign surveillance, but the alleged breach is raising questions about whether in the hands of cyber criminals, americans could now be targeted. when you see something that is billed as internet connected, be it a car, a home, a light switch, whatever, just remember that that also potentially means hacker connected. >> that was nbc's peter alexander reporting. just one day after introducing

the obamacare fix, republicans are facing a backlash from the health care industry. democrats, moderates and more importantly for them, conservatives. they are all bashing the house plan as nothing more than obamacare lite and rhino care. >> we are divided on replacement. we are united on repeal, but we are divided on replacement. >> this is instead a step in the wrong direction. and as much as anything it's a missed opportunity. >> do we need to lower the bar in what we believe is conservative simply because a republican is now in the white house? >> there are things that have to be done, that have to be included, but we've got a starting point and i think amidst the harsh we can find a pony around here somewhere. >> but "japanology plus" leaders do have the backing of president trump who said he would like to see the plan passed after a meeting with his party's whip operation. however, according to cnn trump did warn of a 2018 election blood bath if republicans couldn't get a bill passed after

seven years of promises. the president singled out senator rand paul in this late night tweet after paul voiced his opposition to the plan. later today the house ways and means committee will take its first pass at the health care reform bill. it's now been four days since donald trump accused former president obama of wiretapping his headquarters and the white house has yet to present evidence of the alleged surveillance. it has forced many congressional republic kansas to distance themselves from the accusations altogether. >> have you seen any evidence of that? >> no, i haven't. >> i have not seen that evidence. >> i think that the president of the united states has stated categorically that trump tower was wiretapped, that he should come forward with the information that led him to that conclusion. >> and with little to no public remarks from the president himself, it's been left his airds to defend his wiretapping allegations and the lack of evidence. >> the white house come up with any evidence whatsoever to prove that allegation?

>> i addressed this multiple times yesterday. >> do you believe that president obama -- >> you know, i get that's a key question asked. my job is to represent the president. it's not a question of new proof or less proof or whatever. >> has the evidence been shared with you or other members, senior members of the president's staff as to why he made this particular accusation? >> as far as me, no. >> if the president has the -- if he's sitting on this information that he found out, he's now directing or asking or recommending that the intelligence committee -- you talk about they have resources and staff which they do. but why spend those resources and staff if the president found out this information, and has it? >> i think there is a difference between directing the department of justice which may be involved in an ongoing investigation asking congress as a separate body to look into something. >> meanwhile, on capitol hill questions on the president's unproved claim were aimed at rod

monday. and the u.s. and south korea should halt their joint military exercise iz. nbc's janice is following the story from beijing. janice, good morning to you. tell us what else prompted today's warning. >> reporter: good morning, frances. china's foreign minister sounding the alarm today saying that both sides have this looming crisis need to, quote, cease and desist. what china is now calling for is for north korea to halt its nuclear and missile testing and also for the u.s. and south korea to stop its joint military drills that are currently underway, and also to reconsider deployment of thaad. this is the controversial missile defense system that the u.s. is deploying to south korea. the first parts of it have already arrived and is due to be operational this year. the u.s. says it is purely for defenses, but china sees it as a way for the us to try and upset the strategic balance in the region, that it will align the u.s. and its allies against china and in its opinion cause

right now we'll go to traffic with jessica. >> crystal, setting up this morning in hamilton township, new jersey turnpike dealing with a very serious accident scene on the northbound side. just around 195, the outer lanes are closed there. inner lanes still open to traffic. you won't really or at least most likely see a full closure of the new jersey turnpike's northbound side because of this crash. so, traffic still will get by, but watch for some delays there through hamilton township. also in north philly, fire under control still closures because of it. fox street is closed from roberts avenue right around all gain ee avenue. south philadelphia, the ramp to the walt whit man bridge is closed from an earlier accident. accident investigation there. back to you guys. >> thank you. breaking overnight in philadelphia, a baby is in the hospital this morning after a home invasion. police say a group of masked men broke into the row home in nights town and stole thousands of dollars. during the crime, one of the thieves allegedly slapped the
