the pa suburbs, chester, bucks, montgomery counties, parts of delaware county. this is friday from 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and this is for snow, causing poor visibility, accumulating on untreated roads in these areas. points south, i think it's mostly going to be melting on the roads. 68 here. got up to 70 in dover a few minutes ago. the temperature is going to be plunging overnight. by 7:00 a.m., it's feeling like 30. after 68 right now, and it's going to keep getting colder. nothing on the radar close by. this is not a big storm that's headed here. it's a quick hitter, it has a limited amount of moisture. so it doesn't have the potential to produce a big snowstorm. but the timing is not exactly great. here is 3:00 a.m., it's already starting in the lehigh valley.

who naturally wants the man caught. >> you can still see the damage? >> reporter: that's right. let me tell you, police believe the car was traveling about 75 miles per hour. coming from that direction, he blew out several stop signs in this area, he goes airborne ask takes out the fence before taking out a huge chunk of the home. we got photos of what it looked like on impact. it's hard to imagine how the driver of this car got out, unscathed enough to take off running into the woods from police. >> honestly looking at the windshield, he's got to be hurting. turn yourself in. get your help. take your punishment. >> reporter: william nunez has a person that smashed into his parents' home after 1:30 morning. they were sound asleep on the opposite side of the house. >> could have killed my parents, could have killed the neighborhood. >> reporter: why the pursuit? >> the officer noticed an erratic drive. >> reporter: the police chief

says the driver hit speeds of 70 to 80 when police turned on their sirens. a gouge shows where the sedan bottomed out. there were four passengers inside. police are working with dash cam video to make an arrest. >> the detectives are working on that, getting dna evidence and possibly anything else to positively identify the driver. his passengers were injured. >> you did yourself more hurt by running. what did it get you? trying to hunt you down, should have just shopped, got the tick and be on your way. >> reporter: and penn's grove police tell me the driver will face a host of criminal and traffic violations to include eluding police, assault by aut & and speeding. anyone who has information on the driver, police want to hear from you. the damage to this home could force this family out at least temporarily. i'll explain why when we see you

coming up at 5:30. for now i'm cydney long nbc 10 news. to this now, a small home made plane crashed in a wooded area as it tried to land at trenton. sky force 10 was over the scene offer sharon road. the 79-year-old pilot had cuts on his face but was otherwise okay. it appears the pilot suddenly lost control, causing the crash. jury selection is underway in pike county in the capital murder trial of eric freen, accused of ambushing and killing a pennsylvania state trooper in 2014. the jury selection is happening in chester county because of the media attention the case received in pike county. that's where the murder and manhunt happened. erin coleman is live in our breaking news center with details about what happened in the courtroom. the beginning of a long process today? >> absolutely. more than 100 people were summoned to the courthouse today as lawyers began selecting a

jury to hear theicate. this is video of the van he was riding in as he arrived at the courthouse this morning. he was not wearing handcuffs inside the courtroom. out of the 100 jurors questioned today, more than 2/3 admitted they had heard about the case before today. more than a third said they would not be able to impose the death penalty. investigators say he ambushed two officers outside their barracks, corporal brian dixon died. he was just getting off of work that day. trooper alex douglas had just arrived and was injured in the shooting. afterwards, there was an intense manhunt through rugged terrain that lasted 48 days. u.s. marshals caught up to him about 30 miles from where the shooting take place. jury selection is suggested to take about one to two weeks. the trial should last about a month. erin coleman, nbc 10 news.

president trump and vice president mike pence are going on the road to bring the message about their healthcare bills straight to the american people. >> here's what's next, the bill must pass two more committees. once that happens it will make it to the full house. speaker ryan says he hopes the bill will be finished by easter break. nbc 10's lauren mayk is joining us to explain why republicans are still on the fence. >> in the house republicans can lose 19 votes and still pass this. but in the senate, the margin is much smaller. for some one big issue is they don't know how much the plan is going to cost yet. for others it's whether the plan will cause constituents to lose coverage. signs pleading for obamacare to stay and the new healthcare plan to go away. but in washington, that plan is moving forward. passing two committees, including the one ways and means. now speaker paul ryan selling

at the white house next month. we'll explain ahead at 4:45. the founder of wikileaks says his group will work with technology companies to help defend them against the cia's hacking tools. julian assange acknowledged that companies had asked for more details about the cia cyber espionage tool kit, wikileaks purportedly revealed the methods in a massive leak published earlier this week. it showed the cia can use smart tv and smartphones to spy on people. the cia has declined to comment on the authenticity of the leak. we have new details about tuesday's fire at this substation. all customers have power once again. the fire in nicetown, tioga knocked out power to 36,000 customers. investigators working to find out how it started. police say an assault at valley forge military academy appears to be a case of bullying. three 16 and 17-year-old students attached another student to an electrical conduit upside down.

for the eagles to sign other players. now, in addition, barwin was admired for his work in the community. he helped build playgrounds throughout the city and took part in other projects in the area that the team says will have a lasting impact. barwin took to social media this morning to say thank you. he posted this message on instagram. it reads, thank you philadelphia from the bottom of my heart for welcoming me and for being the amazing city you are. >> he'll be missed. nurses in delaware county memorial hospital going back to work tomorrow. the nurses walked off the job on sunday, they were striking over staffing issues. the hospital and nurse's union haven't reached an agreement. the nurses are going back to work. the hospital has said it staffs nurses at the national average. survivor and experts in human trafficking gathered in our area today to discuss how to put an end to commercial sexual exploitation. it was part of a two day symposi symposium. police, prosecutors and communities in the united states

rails. back to our ever changing weather now. the temperature drop over the next couple of days, as farmers in delaware are really concerned about their fragile fruits. nbc 10 delaware bureau reporter tim furlong is joining us to explain the crop concerns. tim? >> reporter: yeah, these warm winter days are a treat. not if you're an east coast peach farmer. take a look here at the buds here. these peach trees should be asleep. you see how pink they are. they're a month ahead of schedule. if we get temperatures in the teens the buds could be killed and you get one shot at peaches a year. last year they lost 60%. the farm has diversified their crops. they have tarps on strawberries. and you can't cover all the peach trees. they're hoping mother nature goes easy on them. >> we know that miracles happen

35 in atlantic city. once again here's the first alert areas. lehigh valley, berks county, pa suburbs, chester, montgomery, bucks counties. other areas will see snow, but these are the areas most likely to see more accumulation. lower temperatures that would cause it to stick on untreated roads. friday 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. after 9:00 a.m. there still may be snow up there. but the temperatures are going to go up a little and that sun will help melt any snow that's hitting the roads. so it gets kind of complicated tomorrow morning. you've got to be prepared for this. you can see the area of some rain and snow to our west. not a big storm. but take a look at the temperatures. by 3:30 in the morning, it's down to 33 in allentown, 41 at philadelphia, and here comes the snow. so it starts as snow. it's all snow.

from the pennsylvania turnpike northward. by 6:00 a.m., 35 and snowing in philadelphia. all right. finally melting on the roads. this is probably melting on the roads, too. allentown may be starting to see some untreated surfaces getting a little bit. but the temperature is not really plunging while the snow is falling. and then when the snow stops, it may go up a couple degrees. so it's going to look a lot worse than it's going to be on the roads. you didn't even see snow in cape may and atlantic city. look at the temperatures, way above freezing, the roads are warm from what we've seen the last few days. in the afternoon we may have snowshowers, snow flurries. look at the temperatures, upper 30s. melting as it happens. the wind starts picking up in the afternoon. then the cold air starts coming in for tomorrow night. take a look at this. tomorrow night, by 6:30 it's feeling like 17 in potts town. and by friday evening, feeling

there. 68 degrees in philadelphia. 69 in dover. 68 in atlantic city. a year ago at this time it was 82 and here we are talking about temperatures going way down into the teens and feels like temperatures going down to near zero. this is by tomorrow night and saturday morning. it's going to feel like 30 by tomorrow morning. again, compare to the near 70 that we're seeing now. here's the hour by hour. we'll see the snow come in, it looks like it's going to be all snow. lehigh valley and many of the areas north of the pennsylvania turnpike. it could start off as rain in philadelphia, and change to snow. but a lot of that melting on the roads caubecause the roads have been so warm. we'll talk more about the timing of this coming up. we could see school delays for parts of the area tomorrow morning.

any kind of big storm. we're not expecting major amounts or even having the potential for major amounts of snow. but it's a nuisance at the wrong time of day. 4:00 a.m., starting to snow in the poconos, berks county, upper bucks, montgomery, chester county. the temperature still above freezing and the roads are warm when it starts. now, as the snow gets heavier, the darker blue indicates heavier snow. the temperature's going down somewhat and especially grassy surfaces, starts to see some accumulation. in philadelphia, we're still above freezing. even at 8:30, mount holly, wilmington, millville, dover, atlantic city, tom's river all getting snow but the temperature's above freezing. and the roads are warm from our warm spell. so most of this is melting on

the roads, it will accumulate further to the north, untreated surfaces, as we go through the day temperatures start going up. anything that was on the roads it's going to melt even if it's still snowing in the afternoon. that's one of the typical march snows this is not typical of march. tomorrow evening, it's feeling like the teens. friday night, it's feeling like it's close to zero. remember, it's close to 70 right now. that's a 60 plus degree drop. all right. the amounts of snow, again, this is the grassy surfaces. less than an inch. if that. further to the south. that includes cape may county, atlantic county toward long beach island. one to two inches, trenton, east winds windsor, ben salem.

philadelphia, chester, woolwich. two to four inches, norris town, hatfield, warrington, and three to five inches potts town up to allentown and reading. those areas have the greatest amount of snow and the best chance, especially higher elevations of sticking on untreated surfaces and causing problems. here's the weekend forecast. it's not a weekend forecast for february. it's a weekend forecast as we head toward the middle of march. those are high temperatures and that's without the wind. so the 27 for the high in the lehigh valley is probably going to feel close to zero by saturday night and also saturday morning. >> what is the likelihood the system could change before getting to us? >> yeah, well i don't think it has much chance of being a real big one.

it could potentially weaken a little bit. and with the warmer temperatures, a lot of this could be melting. but i also want to mention that there's a greater potential storm coming next tuesday. that one could affect much of the area. and it will be cold ahead of that. so what snow would fall, would stick. >> you'll be keeping an eye on that for us, glenn. thanks. this mild winter so many of us have enjoyed could cause problems with your pets. >> local animal shelters are deal ing with a troubling trend. ted greenberg has the story. >> reporter: a half dozen kittens a day old and arriving unusually early. >> we have our first set of kittens in in february. >> staffers at the animal shelter in vineland dealing with an especially high number of litters. the result they believe of felines getting frisky ahead of schedule.
