digits tonight. from our cape may camera, the shore was the last to see the snow this afternoon. any snow left on the snow and sidewalks could create slick spots. >> the coldest weather of the weekend could come overnight. nbc 10 first alert meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is tracking the weather. >> we're at the warmest part of the day right now, but the flags are blowing, indicating the cold air starting to come in. and as the temperatures plunge, having snowshowers around, that does not help things. because you add some more moisture to the roads as the temperature goes down below the freezing mark. and that's what we're seeing now. we're seeing a snowshower come right into the city of philadelphia now, right over abington past norris town. they race through, so you can get a heavy burst of snow for a few minutes, and then you get a break and then there's another

snowshower. and that could prevent the roads from totally drying out. you see more snowshowers back to the west. burt t the ones that are in the area now look like the most significant ones. it's 32 in reading and that's the only place outside of the mountains that's above freezing. when the temperature goes down we'll be seeing icy spots devel develop. we're going to be feeling the effects of winter. 11:00 tonight, feeling like single digits in much of the area and then it's going to get colder after that. more on how cold it's going to get. when it might warm up. and about a snowstorm next week that will be more significant than today's. >> randy gyllenhaal went county by county today to find out how people are readjusting to winter. 20 minutes of non-stop news

continuewi contin continues. >> a lawsuit says a philadelphia hotel help sex traffickers enslave a 14-year-old girl and it took place for years. >> the girl described men waiting if sex, lining the walls of that motel. sounds horrible. >> reporter: yeah, guys, the details of this lawsuit, they are vivid. the girl herself was not able to talk to us. she is still a minor, but her lawyers insist that those working and managing this hotel, knew exactly what was happening. northeast philly's roosevelt inn and its management are being sued for being a part of a crime they claim they never knew was happening. >> we have an innocent girl here who in exquisite detail will someday tell a jury what happened. >> reporter: the lawsuit filed today claims a 14-year-old girl was forced into sex slavery here and the hotel and its staff let it happen. >> this was a girl who was trafficked there. it was open, obvious and

notorious. it was known to the staff. it was known to the management. it was known to the front desk. at times, they even received gratuities. >> reporter: the alleged victim is identified by the initials m.b. when she was 14 years old she was recruited to engage in sex acts at the roosevelt inn. >> she was forced to have sex with men for money. >> reporter: the management company which owns the hotel, told us it had no comment on the allegations. the hotel manage told us he had no knowledge of these things. i'm mitch blocker from nbc 10 we spoke on the phone. how are you sir? >> fine. >> reporter: do you have a second to come talk with us? >> not with the camera please. >> reporter: now, off camera, the manager told us he has to kick people out of the hotel. he also told us he has seen

scantly dressed women in the hallways, he says he never saw any indications of sex trafficking. but we are looking into the history of sex trafficking here at the roosevelt in. the investigators will have those for you up at 5:30. we're live in northeast philly. >> just to be clear, this is a civil suit, right? what did you find out about any criminal case against anyone that was forcing that girl into sex slavery? >> the u.s. attorney's office is not commenting on what charges. the u.s. attorney goes after the trackers and has a history of doing that, especially in the philadelphia area. the lawsuit here is really going after those who are profiting from this practice, jim. >> thanks, we know you'll stay on top of this. this morning, a dump truck slammed into a school bus heading to a school for the deaf in wilmington. the driver of the dump truck ran

a red light. it happened in wilmington. tim furlong was the only reporter on scene. >> i heard a large screech and a bang. >> reporter: rodney heard it happen in wilmington south bridge neighborhood, a morning crash with the christina school district bus and a dump trump. >> the school bus was going through the light and the dump truck never stopped at the light. just hit the bus. >> reporter: the few kids on the bus weren't hurt but they were taken to the hospital to be checked out. they were headed to the delaware school for the deaf in newark. the bus driver and an aide were taken to the hospital. the man and the woman in the dump truck, ronnie says their injuries weren't life threatening but they had the worst of it. >> they were bleeding really bad. the woman was pinned underneath the dash board. i asked if they were okay. let's call 911 right now, don't nobody touch nobody.

and then the cops and everybody shows up. >> reporter: wilmington police are investigating the cash. nbc 10 news. today marks the halfway point through president trump's first 100 days. >> on his 50th day in office, president trump is touting job creation, 235,000 jobs were created in february. the unemployment rate ticks down to 4.7% down from 4.8% in january. president trump says enthusiasm over his approach to taxes and regulation is already paying off. as for healthcare, president trump thanked the leaders of the two committees that passed the new bill. some lawmakers say they're concerned about passing the bill until they get a price tag. the president says this year will be a disaster for obamacare if it's not repealed and replaced because it was designed that way. >> '17 would be a disaster for obamacare. that's the year it was meant to

for the cause of a fire that left one person dead in chester county. the fire started around 10:00 this morning on valley forge round. we're told other people were in the house at the time. but they made it out safely. today, pope francis said he would be open to the idea of allowing married men to become priests. the pope said the church could consider the possibility because many remote communities around the world are facing priest shortages. but he did rule out the prospect of allowing single men who are already priests to marry. tim furlong spoke to a local priest about the idea. hear what he had to say at 5:00. new details about a police chase that ended with a car crashing into this house in penn's grove. police say the driver turned himself in overnight. police tried pulling him over on wednesday night but he kept driving and crashed into that home. he is facing a long list of charges, including assault, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

volkswagen will pay $4.5 billion after pleading guilty today to evading federal emissions rules. the carmaker admitted getting around pollution rules by using software that activated pollution controls during tests. vw will have an immediate monitor oversee compliance for three years. six volkswagen employees face criminal charges in that scandal. we have new details about a criminal investigation into the nude photo scandal rocking the marine corp. it's widening to include all branches of the military. former and current female marines have said their photographs were shared on social media without their consent. a top marine commander will brief members of the house armed services committee on the scandal next week. a new jersey man facing deportation now has more time to make his case to stay. this after lawmakers and religious leaders stepped in to help. he came to the u.s. in 19 191. he has no criminal record.

the archbishop of newark and others rallied in support of guerrero. he has a 60 day extension to fight deportation. we have new video from mississippi of the exact moment when a freight train smashed into a charter bus on tuesday. here it is now. we've highlighted the crash. you can see the bus just getting on to the tracks when that train plows into it right there. the cell phone video gets shaky after that. you can see some dirt and debris kicking up around that bus. and the train. the impact of the contract pushed the bus far down the tracks. four people were killed here. another 40 hurt. since the crash, the mayor of biloxi ordered warning signs to be posted. the people who survived the crash, got back on to a bus to head back home to texas. they arrived last night. the group was on a casino trip organized by a senior center. a lehigh valley school district is settling a lawsuit filed by the mother of a teenager who died from delayed

drowning. the bethlehem school district will pay the mother $80,000. nbc 10 spoke on the phone with the superintendent, who told us the decision to settle was made by the school's insurance company. the 15-year-old was a tenth grader at liberty hospital in 2010 when he collapsed in class after swimming. a pair of masked vandals were caught on camera spray painting messages on a delaware county home. it happened on amber court drive. you can see their face and police home someone can identify them. today is national women and girls hiv aids awareness day. the focus on educating students about healthy relationship practices and dispelling stig stigmas. it's meant to raise awareness of the increasing impact of the disease. a high school will debut its production of ragtime tomorrow

went to montgomery, chester delaware and philadelphia counties. everyone got a taste of the heavy snow this morning. as you can see most of it has melted now thanks to the afternoon sun. but as this roller coaster continues, the temperatures are starting to plummet. by midmorning here it looked like this, heavy wet snow falling at a rapid clip. >> i wore a tee shirt pretty much every day. >> reporter: nothing like yesterday, rebecca walking to work now forgetting her hat and gloves. >> i didn't expect it to be this heavy or really to clean off my car. >> reporter: over in west philly, the clean up was pretty easy but still frustrating after getting used to the spring-like weather. >> yeah, i've been done with winter. >> reporter: nobody sitting out for lunch today. the other thing we're missing, any sign of the early spring bloom. the early budding flowers covered by a blanket of snow. the mild winter caused plants to

the sun is out and much of the ground behind you, clear. good practice this morning for i guess next week. >> practice driving in that stuff again too this morning. >> it was coming down heavily. >> it really was. visibility was cut in half or more. glenn more to come later next week? >> different type of storm next week with a lot more potential. it's going to be a lot colder ahead of the storm, so this time everything will stick when it starts. we have some snowshowers. you can see them in the distance. looking at the skyline in philadelphia, and that may change. got some snowshowers coming through i-95. south philly now, the visibility is getting reduced. in the last couple of minutes, you see the traffic is moving pretty well. the main roads generally dry. anything that gets moist in the next couple of hours is going to end up freezing because the temperature will be plunging. we'll end up with icy spots.

while it is kind of mild, clear your driveway and the sidewalks. and you'll regret it if you don't. tomorrow morning, everything's going to be frozen and it's going to be hard to do. the weekend is going to feel like the single digits later tonight and feeling like the teens most of the weekend. like last weekend. and the winter storm monday night into tuesday and it's got potential for some big accumulations. at least in parts of the area. way too early to talk about numbers. 40 in philadelphia. down to 32 with snowshowers in the northern suburbs. temperatures starting to go down. once it goes below the freezing point we'll be seeing stuff ice up. feeling like 21 in coatesville and 12 in the poconos. that's nothing compared to the way it's going to feel in a few hours. 11:30 tonight feeling like 10 in philadelphia. 8 in west chester.

4 in allentown. by morning it's feeling like zero in doylestown. thought we were done with that, didn't you? single digits to teens tomorrow. by tomorrow afternoon, this is as warm as it gets as far as feeling. 18 to 20 degrees. tomorrow night, feeling like the teens again. by sunday morning, feeling like 10-15. so, yeah, it is cold all weekend. you can see the snowshowers coming through. not just lake effect and there's one heavy one coming right through philadelphia now. another one around limerick and another one just went through wilmington. this is what happened last night and into this morning. and then it moves out and these are the snowshowers that are left with that. over the next three days, it's cold. saturday, sunday, monday, these are the low temperatures into the teens.

and further to the north, lower teens. high in lehigh valley tomorrow, only 27. 29 on sunday. monday, again, it's very cold. that's when the clouds build up and that when this storm starts to develop with. part of it at least in the gulf of mexico, the more white lines you get, the more intense the storm is. the wind is starting to come in off the ocean. this is monday night. this does not show the type of precipitation. so some of this is going to be heavy snow. some of it's going to be heavy rain. there might be some heavy sleet in between. that's a fairly intense storm. and that is tuesday. so even if it changes over to rain, it could very well change back to snow. it's going to be one of the complicated storms. going to be snow to sleet to rain, back to snow. so that is going to be quite a

there's the one that just went to the south. and here's one that's in montgomery county. upper bucks county, richland getting some heavy snow. this is just about to hit norris town, phoenixville is getting heavier. when you get this little burst and then it dries out, clears out and the sun comes out. but we need these to die down because they're putting moisture on the roads, and it's going to be getting colder and so then the moisture has a better chance to freeze. normally everything dries out after a storm because of the wind and then the sun. but now this is complicating things. more snowshowers but not as big as what's around right now. we dropped four degrees in philadelphia and just dropped quite a big in potts down, down to 30 in the snow squalls. and so things may be starting to ice up in parts of the area. because there are more snowshowers coming through until

following this case since day one. >> what went on in that courtroom? >> reporter: she answers questions quietly to the judge. she wore an orange jumpsuit and the entire time her hands were cuffed in front of her. she told her judge when it comes to the rape and murder of her adopted daughter that she's not guilty. >> she's charged with a lot of things and we allege she did not do. >> reporter: a judge told sarah packer she didn't have to actually be the person who killed grace packer to be charged with her murder. prosecutors say it was packer's boyfriend who strangled the girl in a hot attic in july a day after he raped and beat her while sarah watched. prosecutors say she helped plan the crime. >> we're not here to say how she's involved at all. there's a lot to go. the investigation is still ongoing. and we'll determine what her role was or wasn't. >> reporter: prosecutors say despite the arrest and charges against packer and sullivan, the case is not finished and continues to hunt for evidence.

taking a live look right now. people who are on the slopes, they are welcoming what's coming our way next week. this is camel back mountain resort. they're looking forward to all this snow. the skiers and the snow boarders, glenn's most accurate forecast shows you should bundle up in whatever you have for the bitter cold on the slopes. >> it's going to feel like it's below zero up there later tonight and tomorrow morning. and of course, they're the most likely to see the snow on tuesday. you don't have to worry about changing from snow to sleet to rain like we're going to have to for other parts of the area. well, the flag's blowing left to right. that means colder air coming in. and as it gets colder, any moisture around is going to freeze. down to 30 degrees. reading 33. hopewell 32. walnut, 28, nazareth, 32.

so we're already seeing places drop below the freezing point. we're going to be seeing some icing on some of the roads. look at this. it was at 36 degrees at 7:00. down to 20 degrees at 7:00 but feeling like 8. wasn't it 68 degrees yesterday? so i wasn't exaggerating when i said a 60 degree drop in the way it feels, was it? 25 is the way it feels in allentown. 12 in the poconos and just starting to go down there. you can see as we go through the night by midnight, we're in the single digits. and for the feels like temperature, most places and by tomorrow morning, everybody's in the single digits or pretty close to zero. and even late in the morning, we've got allentown in the single digits. and by tomorrow afternoon, most places still feeling like the teens. so yeah, it's quite a difference

from what we've seen over the last couple of days. very similar to last weekend. the radar shows those snowshowers continuing. but up to the north and west they're not nearly as impressive as the ones coming through right now. one just went through limerick. we had one through philly but there's another one right on its heels. look at this. this one is right over abington now. and it's just getting into mount airy, whitemarsh is getting some of it. north philly, center city, of course will be getting it. south philly will be getting it as well. that's the storm moving offshore. that's the little one. we'll be getting a more impressive one next week. but the problem is, we've got all this cold weather. the next three days, that's going to make the roads cold. a difference between today's storm and the next one.

so when the precipitation starts monday night, anything that falls is going to freeze on the roads. so it's not going to be one of those things where we had easy travel today. and the potential for that storm is pretty significant. this is going to be a nor'easter, there's likely to be coastal flooding out of it. a lot of moisture. the question of the track of the storm whether it's going to be snow, rain, a mix. there may be big variations across the area. >> for march, the ground is going to be warm enough that there is snow it won't stick but when temperatures are like this. >> it will warm up as the storm is coming in, but the ground is going to be really cold ahead of it. and that does not happen very much in march as you're saying. >> could be making up for lost time. >> yeah, could be the most significant storm of the season for many people. >> okay. keep watching. well, it might look like an

harry hairston shows you how to tell real from the fake. >> reporter: cj was checking his e-mail the other week, when he got a message from someone claiming to be high up in the government. >> skoodirector of the fbi. >> reporter: the e-mail said it was urgent and was owed $10 million. the sender said all they needed was his name, address and phone number. he says, that's where he drew the line. he contacted nbc 10 responds instead of writing back. >> reporter: because it was such a good one, i felt like a lot of people might fall for it. >> now, we called philadelphia fbi office which tells nbc 10 it does not send e-mails asking for personal information. a similar fbi e-mail scam has been in circulation for almost ten years. if you get one of these e-mails, do not reply. don't open any attachments and report it to the fbi internet crime complaint center.
