closer to 700 have closed. get them on the nbc 10 app. this is 95 near the girard bridge. 458 mile per speed restrictions because of the winter storm. traffic reporter jessica boyington has cameras on highways across pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware. we'll check with her in just a minute. >> here's a live look right now an philadelphia international airport. today all flights from southwest, frontier and jetblue all cancelled. american airlines won't be flying in or out of philadelphia until 5:00 p.m. tonight. some airlines are offering weather waivers to make changes at no coast. best advice check with your carrier before you head out for a flight. we have team coverage of the storm. nbc 10 meteorologist krystal klei erica martin are breaking down the timing. totals for your neighborhood. crystal start with you. tell us what's happening right now. >> we knew this was going to

happen. have a close eye on rain snow line. some are seeing heavy rain. the heavy snow further to the north. philly is right against that line. i wanted to start with camera because it might be hard to see, but if you watch closely enough. few flakes floating by and dropping falling. right now in the mixing zone. here's radar and satellite look. wide view here. blues mean snow. green means rain. pink is mixing area. warmer area trying to wedge in and sleet, freezing rain and flakes falling in those areas. let's go nabeighborhood by neighborhood. berks to lehigh valley we have been tracking snow for several hours. accumulation above two inches in many locations. you actually see a deeper blue here in areas. that's a more steady snow falling. the heaviest snow just starting to push on in as we go through the next several hours.

we drp to the pink now. wichlington to the southern portion of philadelphia county. these areas are now reporting freezing rain. not good because we already have snow. it's going to make an ice earlier hard snow top. more rough commute for those areas. if we continue to drop further to the south. there's the rain. it's in southern delaware jumping over the delaware bay and along shore points. steadky to heavy rain now we see deeper greens and yellows. following suit exactly as we expected the close thing we need to watch is that rain snow line. the bing that i just showed you. that's going to affect snow totals. coming up, closer look at radar. talk more about that line and we'll look into the totals that we expect by the time this whole thing moves out by early tomorrow. let's go to traffic right now. jessica boyington. thanks crystal. starting off this morning. on the schuylkill. now just a few moments ago, we did have a vehicle actually spun

out on the eastbound side just around the boulevard. that's what we're looking at now. now zoomed it out. cleared out of the way. tricky spot. on and off-ramp and separate kevs and areas on the roads where areas aren't plowed heavily. see the plowing that's been done through the center lanes into it will shoulder snowy areas and few cars already spin out and get stuck. additionally dealing with speed restricti restrictions. 45-mile-per-hour for everything. route 130, 202. route 422. route 100 and 309 and 63. also watching the speed restriction down to 45-mile-per-hour. the schuylkill, 95. blue route. and the pa turnpike as well. now checking in withal new jersey roads. atlantic city expressway. down in atlantic city, crash on the eastbound side. watch for that and additionally dealing with 35-mile-per-hour speed restrictions for the ac expressway. moving to west step ford

township. watch for disabled track torl trailer. taking out a portion of 295. 405. city road crews working since late yesterday. brining and salts roads across philadelphia. rosemary conners in storm 4 ten checking road conditions in old city. tell us what it's like. >> reporter: we're along market street on third and fourth. the road is clear and no cars parked. that's because market street is one of the many snow rge routes in the city. tomorrow like this the city says anybody parked on snow emergency route roads like market street, broad street, the boulevard, chestn chestnut. walnut. you got to get off. parked here overnight, they've towed your car. moved it. need to find where it is call. we heard meteorologist krystal klei say we're seeing that changeover. in fact maybe around 1:00, 2:00

this morning up until about 3:00, the snow is coming down at a steady clip. now looking at roads you see it looks more like slush. we're getting freezing rain that's been pelting windshield here for the past hour or so. the rodriguez looking a lot slushier a as opposed to snow cover covered. we're going to keep driving throughout the area. checking on the roads. checking on conditions and keep you posted throughout the hour. in fact we'll be back in 15 minutes. send it back to you in the studio. >> thanks for that. now let's go to berks county. they could see 16-26 inches of snow before the storm is over. >> nbc 10 pamela osborne in redding. tell us what it is like there. obviously snowing hard. >> yes. it has been snowing very consistently overnight and early this morning since we've been up. we probably have anywhere from 2-3 inches on the ground this morning. i've been checking with local power companies. so far no reports of any outages. that could change throughout the

day. given heavy steady snow. icing that we're seeing so far. if you lose power in the event that happens the red cross recommends you use flashlights not candles. have a generator you may be using in the event you lose power. going to want to put that outside also. never use a stove to heat your home. i'm going to step out of the way to look at some roads this morning. we've seen local plows going back and forth. you can see how quickly the snow is accumulating. not a lot of cars on the road this morning. that is by design. schools are closed today. anyone who can you not have to be on the roads to be home today. we are going to be outside monitoring conditions for you. this is the best place to be this morning. reporting live in redding, pamela osborne, infection 10. >> thank you. meanwhile people at the jersey shore could face several threats today. different challenges there. high winds. thunderstorm. flooding all concerns for them. >> suring things up. nbc 10 matt delucia live in

atlanta tick city. give us an joup date of the condition sgls right now mostly dealing with rain and wind. those are the two big issues here. we haven't seen much in the way of snow. last night had sleet. at this point just rain and mostly wind. we're here on the atlantic city board walk and you can see there is really not one out here right now. few minutes ago we did see somebody in one of those carts that usually goes by here on the board walk. see them the summertime thachlt is pretty much it. going from one casino to the other. right here see the wind, the effect of the wind on the board walk. the wind blowing here and also the flags of mini golf course. the wind is blowing that as well. at this point. really not too much in the way of any kind of snow. sit a little bit too warm for that here down at the shore points. the maybe issue right now is going to be that rain and the wind in this area, and, of course, the possibility of flooding later on as a result of all that. so right now we're going to be just keeping an eye on the

conditions here. keeping an eye on any power outages: that is the latest here live in atlantic city. windy board walk. matt delucia nbc 10 news. >> from atlantic city to shore. let's go to delaware see how the conditions are right there. this is a look at i-95. see slow going. a good idea. governor john carney encouraging anyone who doesn't have to be on the roads to stay home. now first alert meteorologist krystal klei checking the conditions in your neighborhood. we really got a close eye on radar and sat lied. we're going to be showing you this as much we can. it's changing so frequently. like matt was saying the snow is not making it to the shore. right now we're actually watching warm air be pumped into the area off the ocean. that's why those areas are looking at rainy conditions. this pink is where ewe see reports of freezing rain.

that's the snow that melts just before impact and can then freeze upon impact again because it's just cold enough outside. so more of an icy forecast from philly. look how closely this charges. northeast track into the suburbs. it's snow, you track burlington county. it's snow. this is a very tight grade between rain and snow. both are looking at a heavy period. this is what we're watching. like i said. around philly and wilmington. rabbi snow less snow, but more sleet and ice. wobbles a little further south then higher snow totals are expected. this is in the forecast for us right now. we've adjusted them just a tad major night. because of that warm air wedge and the rain snow line. 0-2 inches down south. spots along the shore might not get anything from the system. you see the lighter blue.

two to six inches over parts of south jersey. thenl looking at i-95 corridor. 6-10 inches. major change from what we had yesterday. just tightened it a bit more. 10-16 inches through the suburbs. look in the pink. areas like the lehigh valley. burks county. upper suburbs. 16-26 inches by the time it's said and done. the kaeld air there is going to stay cold air. highest totals expected in those zones. coming up in a few minutes. talk about the impacts neighborhood by neighborhood on this system. time it out for you with a look at your future model. >> crystal, thank you. 11 minutes past 4:00 a.m. tuesday. impact on the roads. don't see as many cars out there. there are a few people out there driving around. >> let's check conditions on the vine street expressway. jessica boyington has you covered. >> usually when we see the beginnings of a snowstorm tail end of the drivers we see in early morning hours. everyone pretty much gets the idea and stays home.

few cars out the door. still seeing accidents as well. slippery conditions. vine street expressway. speed restixs here. moving towards center city in our out we have those speed restrictions in place. cameras around 24th street. obviously not dealing with construction right now. few cars out the door here. some people are taking their time. some people moving quicker than others. also a problem as well. getting on and off ramp. watch for that. route 73. roads looking a little bit wet in some portions. we're seeing problems in the shoulder and on and off ramps as well. new jersey dealing with a few problems also watching a disabled tractor trailer on 295 northbound just around grove road. that's just around exit 19. we're also moving down further south toward the atlantic city expressway. then the atlantic city area have a crash there as well on the eastbound side around route 322. additionally atlantic city expressway of dealing with speed

i'm rosemary conners. intersection of seven street. heading toward northern liberty. a lot of narrow roads. get these kind of major storms it can really be difficult for plow trucks to get through and, certainly, drivers in the days following the storm. the streets department we know has been salting overall night. they started at 8 clonk last night. went through midnight. not seeing any salting crews out on the roads right now. we will start to see in the coming hours of course are the plow trucks. they're going to be out once there's accumulation on the ground for them to begin plowing. we've had this freezing rain come down. it's pretty slushy out there. a lot of snow that has fallen overnight is covered by slush and presumably ice. continue to watch the roads and check on conditions throughout the morning. quarter past 4:00 a.m. right

now. chester county one of the counties under a blizzard warning. expect winds. plus than a quarter mile. nbc 10 live in paoli. what are you seeing there now. >> it's similar to what vie was just describing. we're feeling that way. not 35 miles an hour by any stretch of the imagination, but still the wind has picked up. the snow that's started several hours ago is really a light fluffy snow and pan down to show you how much has accumulated here. slight fluffy snow for a few hours. have a few inches here in paoli. this part of chester county. as meteorologist have been telling us through social media and since the start of the newscast, chester county has already received between 2-6 inches depending wrg you are. just in the last little bit you can see light flakes have stopped falling. there's a driving sleet because we are right along that rain snow line that will crystal was

describing at the top of the show. as we pan off, this is lancaster avenue. pretty major road that runs west of philadelphia throughout the main line. there have been plows along lancaster after for hours trying to keep on the snow that was falling. it's an interesting mix because now that the rain is coming down and it's mixed with that ice and sleet, it's making for far slicker surfaces even if you're walking, i walked across a parking lot not long ago. i could tell there was a difference in the traction just by what we have received. the sleet we've received in the last little bit. behind me, some employees of business owners and behind me they've been shoveling parking lots clearing the sidewalks at this early hour. everyone just trying to get ahead of the storm. when i see you in the next half hour, update with septa. regional rail lines operating this morning on a saturday schedule. a modified schedule in the next little bit have an update on mass transit at 30th street

pink is the trouble zone. going to affect snow totals. as we've been hearing from reporters out in the field. that's where you start to get icy hard layer of snow starts to compact the snow down due to sleeting. heavy rain moving to southern delaware yellow you see on radar. closer look to neighborhood. right now light to steady snow. we do see more steady activity from westchester to mill ford township. buckingham just on the cusp of that more steady snow. abington a bit lighter. lchl starting to see mixing as we get to pink from philly to womening torn. a tielgter look here. i've been checking ground reports. watching ground reports all morning long. tweet us at krystal klei from my twilter. let me know what you're seeing out the window. in these zones it's a freezing rain we're looking at through the area. track further south. that's heavier rain starting to develop in southern delaware. mostly stay along the shore points. there it is. notice the pink extending all the way to wilmington and

philadelphia. continue that way as we go to morning hours. 6:30 a.m. there's 10:00 a.m. it widens app bit. not a good sign. going to really smoosh down the snow accumulation we do see through the next few hours as we get freezing rain widening. rain hanging along the shore. thunderstorm possible with yellow and oranges you see. look how close the blue pink is over the i-95 corridor. very close line between heavy snow and he sleet at 10:00 a.m. start to see it thin out. 1:00 p.m. still heavy north. breaking apart entirely as you see later in the afternoon. still scattered snow showers into the evening though. another jorl impact. high winds expecting across the region today. talk more about that. meteorologist erica martin. >> all about not only the snow totals, but this entire system as a whole e. talk about the wind and increasing wind speed and wind gust as this coastal system drops.

the center of the low is currently over virginia and moving northeast ward pretty rapidly. live look outside here is you can see the camera is shaking. a sign that we do have the center of that low pressure system that coastal lull moving in our correction. wind speed and wind gusts are certainly expected to pick up. notice along the jersey shore right now we're seeing wind speeds not gusts at 22 miles per hour for atlantic city. 17 for wild wood. talk about an increase that could be damaging as far as wind are concerned. we have a high wind warning that has been issued through 6:00 p.m. today. for the jersey shore. 55-mile-per-hour wind gusts in

see how it's affects drivers and commuters in the area. people still making their way out the door this morning. blue route around ridge pike conshohocken area. one of the least loud roads at least from my viewpoint from our cameras, you can see cars moving pretty slowly either direction and getting on and off those ramps looks like only a little bit of a trail from all the cars that have gone through. doesn't look cloud right now at least on the on and off ramp. everybody moving single file when they move through the area there on the blue route. also, watching for several disabled vehicles in the area. no surprise there. what we're seeing pretty much all across the board. cars spinning out. cheltenham. abington on old york road. just around butler avenue. here's new jersey. look like a mixed bag at least. watching snow in the middle. little damp in the center area. cars moving through we are see accident slippery conditions
