problems are different depending on where you live, everything from digging out to power out e outages and beach erosion. >> we have live team coverage on the freeze and this cleanup. we begin with glenn "hurricane"schwartz who is tracking the snow moving through our area right now. >> yeah. as you saw with that one picture and this one, visibility is pretty bad, because it's snowing outside. not just in philadelphia either. this is the normal shot that we would see. but we're not seeing much. it is snowing. it is snowing over a good bit of new jersey and also in philadelphia itself. and it's covering most of the area. it's kind of a solid area at the moment from philly up to abington, mt. laurel, gloucester, all moving towards the southeast. you can see the motion here. less of it up towards reading and allentown, a bit more of it

as we head towards the shore. now, the visibility tells us how heavy the snow is. we have some fairly heavy snow in hazelton, but reading is in good shape. pottstown, coatesville, quakertown, doylestown, visibilities are decent in most of pennsylvania. philadelphia international, 1 1/2 miles. 2 1/2 in northeast philly. 2 miles in atlantic city. so, we have seen some accumulation in parts of the area. that will continue only for another couple of hours. because as the sun goes down, these snow showers will start to fall apart. then we just worry about the re-freezing as the sun goes down and the temperatures go down as well. i'll be back talking about another chance of some snow coming up in a few minutes.

>> maybe you heard that today, the sounds of spinning tires echoing across neighborhoods in the lehigh valley. the deep freeze making it tough for people to dig out from the biggest snowfall this season. randy gyllenhaal is live for us in allentown. >> the streets there seem surrounded by those snow piles. >> yeah, you can find jin snow piles like this one everywhere you go in the city. it's tricky getting down. we were out and about today. schools were canceled throughout much of the valley. that meant we saw more people, lots of cars getting stuck. neighborhoods that had not seen a plow yet as the flurries continue to fall throughout the lehigh valley. >> with temperatures well below freezing, the snow won't melt any time soon. so allentown dispatched the heavy machinery. >> you're dealing with about 110 dump trucks. >> reporter: truckloads of snow transferred to a large parking lot across town, despite this

round the clock clean up, some streets are still covered. >> there's so much snow on the roads, it's terrible. >> we found randy siegel stuck in his suv. it took 20 minutes, but we grabbed some friendly neighbors to help dig him out. >> keep going. >> i will go in where it's warm. you guys are welcomed to join us. we'll buy lunch. >> reporter: in some neighborhoods all that snow from the plows has to go somewhere, so it gets piled high here in the alleyway. >> one side gets lucky. >> reporter: brenda boyle using her garden equipment to chip it away. like an ice pick she's breaking apart the frozen snow that has her car buried. ail listen town officials say it will take until tomorrow evening to get to every neighborhood. >> i have been living here over 20 years. when this stuff happens, we're pretty much the last ones. >> stuck for a while. >> stuck for a while.

>> reporter: back live at this parking lot in allentown, you have to be careful with the snow piles. that's a shopping card lodged halfway into that pile. there are some signs of progress. a allentown says trash pickup should begin late tonight. and we saw mail being delivered after a cancellation yesterday. the city of bethlehem is end pg its sn endien ending its snow emergency tonight at 7:00, if you are parked in the walnut parking garage, you have until 11:00 to get it out. some folks in philadelphia needed heavier tools to big out. a hammer and some elbow grease got the job done here. in south philadelphia, salting after shoveling was the name of the game to keep the sidewalks safe. >> tougher to get up.

a lot heavier. folks who are older, try to do it themselves. look for different options. >> with narrow city streets and a tighter squeeze because of the snow, some found the bicycle to be a better mode of transportation than a car. >> some of those streets really got narrow with the snow on the side. >> no matter how much snow you still have, we are all feeling this bitter cold blast. >> yeah. tam tammie souza is tracking the big chill. >> look at these wind gusts, 31 miles per hour in allentown. in philadelphia, 33. millville, 31. across the area it's a steady wind that is blowing. temperatures are downright nasty. this is where we were yesterday. we were 7 degrees warmer than we are now in philly. 4 degrees warmer in allentown. coatesville, 7 degrees warmer. much cooler today and below

freezing all day today, reaching the mid 20s across the area. right now the temperature is 14 in mount pocono, 27 in philly. mt. holly at 26. vineland, 28. atlantic city, 27. coatesville at 25. wilmington at 28. dover at 30. look at windchill, this is probably the worst part of it, what it feels like. not what the actual air temperature is. feels like, when you wake up tomorrow morning, it will feel like 3 in allentown. we'll see right around 10 in philly. pottstown, 5. it will be, as we head out towards the coast, it will drop down around 10 degrees. we get out there along the shore and it's about 12 degrees. it will start to get warmer the next couple of days, we have to give it a bit of time, so bundle up. guys? >> all right. we will. the bitter cold a big concern for the 12,000 people in our area who are still without power from yesterday's storm. most of them in new castle

county. nbc 10 delaware bureau tim furlong is joining us. i'm hearing utility crews coming from across the country to help us out? >> they're doing their best. at the height of the storm, we had about 76,000 new castle residents in the dark. it's down to about 9,000 people, that doesn't help if you're one of the people in the dark. many of those people live in shipley woods. they lost power yesterday morning after an amazing number of trees came down, including this one here in the neighborhood. dell mar ha delmarva has careerews out herel trying to get service up. we met one family lucky enough to have a wood stove for heat but they lost a day's work and a whole bunch of food in the fridge. >> we heard pop. we knew the transformer had blown, just everything was out. week's worth of groceries, $150 at bj's gone.

milk, eggs, everything gone. >> it's been a tough, tough 24 hours, 28 hours for a lot of people in northern delaware. a lot to of people still without power. about 9,000. here's the good news, the spokesperson for delmarva power texted me, a lot of people were estimated to be on tomorrow by noontime. he now says everybody in the county should be back having power by midnight. that's a good thing. a lot of these people will believe it when they see it tim furlong, nbc 10 news. >> that's a long haul without power. the remnants of the storm caused problems on the delaware memorial bridge today. >> skyforce 10 was over the bridge. if you can see those white dots on the road, that's ice. it was falling from the top of the bridge. because of that, the outer lanes of the delaware memorial had to be closed. definitely for good reason. our winter storm cleanup coverage continues with the big problem down the shore, beach erosion. ted greenberg will have a live report in less than ten minutes.

it won't be long, believe me. >> mr. trump headed to tennessee where he will lay a wreath at president andrew jackson's tomb to mark what would have been jackson's 250th birthday. the trip comes as the president faces new questions about his taxes. msnbc's rachel maddor released part of mr. trump's tax returns from 2005 during her show last night. it showed mr. trump paid a 25% effective tax rate thanks to a tax he has since saugtd to eliminate. the return was obtained by a journalist who said he received it in the mail unsolicited. president trump has refused to release his taxes saying he is under routine irs audit. after the release of his returns, president trump tweeted does anybody believe that a reporter who nobody ever heard of went to his mailbox and found my tax returns? @nbcnews, fake news. pennsylvania senator upon casey is promising to fight

against the push to replace obamacare. casey spoke about the negative effects of the gop plan. this is an attempt by republicans, i believe, to mislead people into believing that they're really improving our health care system, making it better for seniors and for kids and people with disabilities, particularly vulnerable americans. >> senator casey has been critical of the republican healthcare bill on social media with a series of tweets. among them is one that says because of trumpcare, working families of four in philadelphia county will lose $7,000 in credits and pay 41% more. republican leaders released the bill that would replace obamacare last week. a congressional budget report projects the plan would reduce the deficit by 3$337 million ovr a decade, but the same report says the plan would increase the ranks of the unsuinsured by 14 million people next year alone. the white house disagrees with that estimate.

cell phone video shows the scene at the height of the fire. people who lived nearby were woken up by the commotion. >> called 911, they said somebody was on the way. within seconds we saw fire trucks. but it was one of the biggest flames i've ever seen. it was very scary. >> investigators are trying to figure out how that fire started. jury selection has resumed in chester county today for the murder trial of eric frein. the courthouse in west chester was closed yesterday because of the storm. frein is accused of shoot two state troopers during an ambush in the poconos. one trooper was killed. four more jurors were seated today for a total of five. the jury being picked in chester county in the hopes of finding members who did not see the media coverage of the case in the poconos. investigators are looking at whether icy roads caused this crash that killed a man and closed route 1 for several hours in chadds ford today. police say that the suv lost control, slamming into a tow

truck. skies f skies foyforce 10 over the acci. the chadds ford school district closed for the day because of the wreck. the superintendent said it would have taken hours for buss to get around it. tonight more than two dozen local police officers will receive honor force their courage. asis international will present a valor award to jesse hartnett. he was ambushed and shot several times in his patrol car in west philadelph philadelphia. he still managed to chase after the suspect. christopher doreman was shot seven times by an alleged drug dealer last summer. he returned to duty two months later. philadelphia police sergeant silvia young was shot eight times in an ambush last summer.

it's been a strong finish to trading on wall street following word that the nation's interest rates willing going up again. janet yellen made the announcement this afternoon. the fed is raising the rate by a quarter point. it std thiis the third increase past 15 months as the economy continues to improve. stocks rose following the announcement. the dow closed up more than 112 points. the other index fes finished th day higher as well. we have digging to do around here, but it pales in comparison to massachusetts. >> in worcester, the snow is two feet deep there. if anyone is happy, it's those clearing the snow. >> the flooding is gone but the nor'easter left its mark on the jersey shore. on the left, that rough surf that battered the shore this time yesterday. on the right major beach erosion. >> nbc 10 jersey shore bureau

reporter ted greenberg is joining us live from laatlantic city. >> we have a lot of erosion, quite a bit along the coast. these dunes were already in rough shape from previous storms. this one did further damage. but officials along the jersey shore are telling me it could have been much worse. >> reporter: lee sylvester's lunch break always includes a look at the beach in north wildwo wildwood, a day after the nor'easter the damage was clear. >> they put extra sand here, and then it washes away. >> reporter: powerful waves carved giant cliffs into those protected dunes. they were also damaged in january's coastal storm then repaired, though officials say the erosion this time wasn't nearly as bad. >> we didn't have any situations where the water went through the dune like we have previously. >> reporter: dunes and this beach walkway in the hol gate

section of long beach township took another beating. the coastline now in need of emergency repairs for a second time this winter. the storm also left its mark on some of stone harbor's beaches, newly widened. the u.s. army corps of engineers set to assess the damage and possibly have contractors make repairs. north wilded with also making plans to move sand yet again. >> we will be down there with equipment this week even just trying to smooth out some of the cliffs. >> reporter: as for these damaged dunes, a big beach replenishment project this spring will take care of rebuilding them and widening the beach. live in atlantic city, i'm ted greenberg, nbc 10 news. >> quite the scene there. let's take a live look down broad street in center city from our camel center campus camera. more snowflakes flying across that camera. >> saw it in the live shot as

well. glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here with us now. snow falling and the bitter cold. >> the bitter cold and the bitter winds added to some snow. that's not fog obliterating the philadelphia skyline, that's snow. and it is continuing across a good bit of the area. it's 27 degrees in philadelphia now with a 20-mile-per-hour wind. and those snow showers, some more snow showers in new jersey, lehigh valley, and everybody is in the 20s and everybody has got wind. 27 for philadelphia and reading. 24 in pottstown. in the middle of the afternoon. and it feels like 10 in coatesville, 13 in allentown, 3 below zero at mount pocono. well, it's going to be another cold night because we're

starting from cold. look at this. 24 degrees at wernersville. fleet wood at 24. kutztown, 26. south mountain, 23. allentown, 24. easton 23 degrees. so, it's already cold, you add the wind to that, feels colder. and it's still daylight. so, tonight it's going to get even colder. look at wind gusts, 37 miles per hour in dover. 30 in philadelphia. we've seen wind gusts ov s over miles per hour during the day today. that will diminish tonight. a lot of snow on the radar coming down from the north, as you can see. mostly on the right side, but it covers a pretty large area from philadelphia all the way down to the shore. everywhere in between. this is a pretty significant

area. and you see a little bit of a dusting or maybe a half inch in some spots. that's just enough to coat some roads while so cold. winslow and mullica getting some of the heavier snow showers now. washington township and the visibility will tell us how heavy the snow is. pottstown and coatesville, all of a sudden have lower visibilities. mt. pocono, three quarters of a mile. philadelphia's visibility is up. it just keeps going up and down, up and down. that makes them showers and not a steady snow. mt. holly getting some fairly low visibility. over the next few hours, watch what happens here to those snow showers. they kind of fall apart as the sun goes down and so we do not expect the repeat performance tomorrow. we don't expect a repeat performance of these super low feels-like temperatures beyond tonight.bitter, bitter

well, if yesterday's storm made you tired of the snow, more is moving through now, but it's light. this is a look from queen village. roads are still looking clear. this is not a heavy snow, but more than 150 students from perkiomen high school had the best snow dare evey ever. >> they got stuck at disney world. their flight was canceled because of the weather. today they had extra time to visit some parks and do some shopping. i spoke to one student who said nobody was complaining about the delay. >> if i had to pick a snow day and being stuck in florida i would pick being stuck in florida nkt t florida. >> the students are now on their way home. a cracked television screen is at the center of the nbc 10

get a darker area going into washington township in new jersey, winslow just had a little bit. and it gets a little bit heavier. you can put a coating on the roads. the visibility tells us how heavy the snow is. coatesville getting some substantial snow right now philadelphia, visibility has gone up at the airport. 2 1/2 miles in northeast philly. a bit more snow there. 2 miles in atlantic city. so, it's not like another snowstorm or anything, just a nuisance. 27 in philadelphia right now. and it feels like it's 14. feels like it's 9 in coatesville. and here we are. the middle of march, temperatures tonight going down towards 20 degrees and feeling like single digits. i'll let you know when it's going to warm up and when we will see precipitation over the weekend coming up. here's a look at some other

news we're following county by county. in atlantic county some ac police officers could find themselves taking homeless money. the state is making a change to their contracts. that's according to a report in the press of atlantic city. the changes include salary cuts and changes to benefits. the state took over land ciatla city's finances last year. teachers in the chester upland school district have agreed to new terms. the new deal includes a raise but teach also pay a portion of their healthcare costs. in camden county, patco is getting ready to resume work at its westmont station in camden. patco says the work will take place friday on one elevated track at a time. the others will remain open. in cape may county the department of environmental

protection has cited cape mining and protection for multiple violations it has to do with the way the company dumps dredge materials. operations have been stopped while they correct the issues. now to nbc 10 responds. watching their favorite tv program got harder for a family after their scene cracked. >> and when they tried to get it fixed, bad news. >> so in comes nbc 10 and harry hairston. >> when you look at the tv, you go what's on the screen? no, that's a cracked screen. this is a case about making sure you know your warranty but also about a company going above and beyond to help a customer. >> from here all the way down the center. >> reporter: mary is showing us a crack in her 65-inch sony tv. just showed up one day. >> reporter: she says she contacted best buy in november to get it fixed. it's where she bought the tv last february. best buy referred her to sony where the tv had a one-year

limited warranty. she tells us she called sony about a dozen times. >> they passed me around to everybody they possibly could. >> reporter: she says the company told her it would not send someone out to see the cracked screen. >> how are you doing? >> reporter: so she called nbc 10 responds. >> i wanted an answer. i wanted something resolved. >> reporter: we reached out to sony. it sent a representative out to check out the tv. turns out the warranty was null and void since the tv was purchased on sale and open box. but it's a goodwill gesture, sony gave them a big percentage off their next tv. >> now, sony tells us these issues of customer service are handled on a case by case basis. a good thing to remember, folks, just because a product usually comes with a warranty t does not mean it's valid, especially if you're buying it on sale out of the box, or secondhand. keep that in mind. when you get those great sales, it's a floor model, it might not

the lee valley now with some more snow showers. this is not directly related to the storm, but in some places like towards atlantic city, they may have gotten more snow today than they did with the storm. it was mostly rain for them. 28 in philadelphia, 25 in pottstown. 26 in mt. holly. trenton and in allen, 26. at the jersey shore, ocean temperatures back down to 39. we have a strong west wind. it's in the 20s at the beach in the middle of march. 28 in ocean city. 27 in some e poinmers point. 15 is what it feels like in philadelphia. 1 in allentown. and a big 1 in mt. pocono. wind continues to be gusty. look at that, 40 miles per hour in dover. that's what we've seen from time to time throughout the day. we've also seen this area of

snow continue to come through the area. we're drying out north and west. as the goes down, this whole area should be dying out. it's been snowing in atlantic city, like i said, a lot longer than it did with the storm. as we go through the next 24 hours, another cold one. another windy one, too. maybe not quite as windy as today. gusts of 35 tomorrow. swanksville, 32. easton, 15 for a low. 30 for the high. vorhees, 17 for the low. 35 for the high. port, 23 and 38. so, we're not exactly thinking about the beaches at this time of the year, are we? for the weekend, friday is cold, but not as bitter cold as it has been. friday night we have a warm front coming in. we could see a bit of light snow in philadelphia and then it changes to rain saturday. we do warm up well into the 40s. the p.a. suburbs, lehigh valley

could see accumulation out of this. and further to the south, jersey shore and delaware, all rain. they jump into the 50s on saturday afternoon. sunday is generally dry and what do we hahave after that? we don't have spring, i'll tell you that. we've got wind on sunday. monday may actually hit 50. but then we get more wind, some rain on tuesday. and cold wednesday and thursday we gradually start warming up. that is a cold ten-day forecast for philadelphia in the middle of march. okay. you can get a few cold days, but we've got a cold blast now, we have another cold blast coming in the middle of next week. >> then the wind on top of it all making it feel even colder. what's going on? >> that's right. we're making up for the winter.
