more winter weather headed our way. stolen jewels, our first look at the valuables swiped from homes and sold on jewellers row. we begin with this developing story. no wire tapping, this afternoon, the senate intelligence committee revealed it has no evidence of wire tapping at trump tower before or after the presidential election. but president trump is still standing by his claims that barack obama spied on him. nbc 10's harry hairston joins us live. >> president trump's press secretary just ended a press conference. sean spicer took question after question on today's decision by u.s. intelligence chiefs. he kept defending unfounded wire tap claims made by mr. trump against his predecessor. >> no. he stands by it again. you're mischaracterizing what happened today. no. no. i know, no. no. -- i understand that.

and at the same point, they acknowledge that they have not been in contact with the department of justice. >> as you'll remember, president trump's accusations against president obama came in the form of a tweet, a tweet trump sent out early on saturday march 4th. it said, how low has president obama gone to tap my phones during the very sacred election process. this is nixon watergate, bad or sick guy. what isn't clear right now is exactly what happens next as the white house continues to claim president trump's accusations are true. live in the breaking news center, harry hairston nbc 10 news. to our first alert weather now. just keep on digging. people getting frustrated though, the snow won't melt and side streets, some of them remain icy and even some schools remain closed. good evening, and thanks for watching i'm jim rosenfield. >> i'm rosemary connors. students in the lehigh valley

had another day off from school. >> randy gyllenhaal reports. >> reporter: in the lehigh valley it's snow day three. some roads and sidewalks might be clear. >> i don't know if our streets not important enough to be cleaned. >> reporter: even the pizza delivery guys attest it's tough. >> we destroyed the bottom of our cars with all the ice. it ripped our exhausts up. >> reporter: for that reason both bethlehem and allentown schools closed again today. buses unable to get some neighborhoods. large snow piles making it unsafe to drop students off. >> we just are not at the point yet, at least through wednesday and thursday where we could safely open schools. >> reporter: families are taking advantage, mesa spent the day outside with her mom. >> do you like the snow? >> yeah. >> do you wish we had more snow? >> yeah. >> reporter: you want more snow head up to bear creek mountains.

fresh snow covering every trail. >> we were ready to hang up the skis. >> reporter: until now it had been a tough few months for ski resorts, some temperatures actually felt like spring. but now that 12 plus inches of powder has dropped, the season is going out with a bang. >> at this time of year the only way you're going to wake people up is seeing snow in your yard. this is definitely been a wakeup call for people. they're taking advantage of it. >> reporter: and we just learned that allentown public schools will be closed again tomorrow. that is the fourth day in a row that students won't attend classes. likely a lot of them will come out to the ski resorts. bear creek tells us they hope to be open for the next two weekends at least. live at bear creek mountain. randy gyllenhaal. >> from the mountains to the city. we got an update from the city of philadelphia about cleaning the snow from the streets.

>> george spencer is live for us in sky force 10 with that story. and we're looking at a side street that needs some work there. >> reporter: the city says it's making progress. but in places like this it's slow going. you're looking at rugby street. quite a contrast to the streets that have been plowed. the city says about 70 trucks will be working through the night tonight to finally get to some of these lingering residential roads. streets department tells us it has cleared secondary roads but 70% of residential streets like this one have been hit by a plow. the streets department acknowledged a number of complaints have come in about streets like this one not being completely plowed. they say when they respond, they're finding in some cases that's an accurate complaint. in other cases it's a situation where some of the refreezing has occurred there on the street's suffer and it's made it look like and feel like to drivers

the street hasn't been plowed. it's spotty, this is one of a handful of such streets we've seen from overhead this afternoon and the streets department says they should have everything wrapped up by tonight. live at sky force 10, george spencer nbc 10 news. a long process, especially if you're waiting on that street. and for a second straight day, falling ice shut down several streets in center city. the intersection of 12th and market was closed earlier today but it has since reopened. nbc 10 saw first-hand the dangers of not cleaning off the snow and ice from the top of your car. take a look at the truck in front of our news vehicle on route 222 in lehigh county. blocks of snow kept falling off truck after truck. no relief is in sight as we look toward the weekend. >> cold temperatures, snow for some on the way. glenn "hurricane" schwartz and meteorologist tammy sousa breaking it down for us. >> we don't get any joy out of -- >> no.

no. no joy. only person with joy is randy out there skiing. he's having joy. well, you know. >> yes, we are predicting some snow for the weekend. >> a little bit. >> nothing like the storm that we just had. >> exactly. >> those folks in the lehigh valley are the ones that are likely to get the most again. tammy will talk about that in a minute. let's talk about the cold right now. that's the live picture of traffic. plenty of traffic even without bad weather. 34 in coatesville. 30s across the rest of the area. near 40 in atlantic city. and the temperature trend, the average high is 53. look at what we've seen the last couple of days. today, we're going into the 40s the next couple of days, but then we're going back down on sunday. not exactly a tremendous warming trend. the sustained winds still 20-25 miles an hour across the entire area. so we're not getting out of this

too soon. the wind will be diminishing tonight but then of course the temperature is going down tonight. anything that has melted during the day today is going to refreeze tonight. and that's why you're going to have to try to take care of whatever has melted and get it out of the way because when you see those temperatures out there in the morning, it's going to be frozen over again. and now with a look at what may be happening this weekend snow wise, tammy sousa with that. >> thanks. you dump that on me, glenn, nobody wants to hear the s word right now. across the region there's nothing on the forecast models because we have high pressure in place. that's that sirnging air, clearing air eand like to call it the happy weather. the h stands for high pressure. we say happy weather. this is what we're looking at. we have a fast moving clipper tharts goi that's coming out of canada. this is not a nor'easter like we saw on tuesday. it will be a bit moisture

starved. right now as of noontime on saturday it looks like nothing to maybe an inch. an inch far north and west of the metro area. but look what happens. we get into sunday, and the forecast model is now painting in a couple inches of snow by early sunday in the philadelphia and allentown, lehigh valley, three inches or so. some will melt and we'll see rain changing to snow changing to sleet. this is what i'll talk about all the timing when i come back with the full forecast. now, over to you. let's talk some money. president trump revealed the blueprint for his first budget today. part of the $1.15 trillion budget, building a wall with mexico. plus, a boost in spending for the u.s. military. now here's a look at what government agencies will see their spending slashed. it's a budget plan loaded with fire power.

calling for increases in defense, homeland security, and veteran's affairs spending. while slashing funds for the departments of state, agriculture and labor. health and human services, commerce and education. >> this budget simply re realics spending as any business would do. >> discretionary spending take as heigit, epa, and programs fag the arts. a nation president trump says online he is putting first and protecting with this budget plan. which also dedicates millions to starting construction on a border wall. >> i thought president trump said mexico was going to pay for this wall. >> democrats are lining up promising to fight the plan. >> this budget is not a statement of values of anyone. >> house speaker paul ryan was quick to point out the new budget is just a blueprint from the white house and that congress ultimately controls the

nation's purse strings. >> do i think we can cut spending and get waste out of government? absolutely. where and how and what numbers, that's something we'll be figuring out. >> philadelphia mayor jim kinney says it will be devastating. the mayor said his office is still evaluating all the details to see the exact impact. now here's democratic congressman brendan boyle's take. >> republican budgets that i might not have agreed with, this is absolutely the worst budget that i've seen with the deepest cuts by far, really going back 70, years. new jersey republican congressman isn't happy with part of the president's budget. he says he vowed to fight the proposal to increase fees on policy holders for flood insurance premiums. he says his region is still

recovering from superstorm sandy. another set back for president trump's travel ban. a federal judge in maryland blocked the executive order, that action comes the day after a hawaii court did the same. the maryland judge said it amounts to a muslim ban. the ban was set to go into effect today. u.n. ambassador nikki haley said it is not a ban. >> what the president is doing, everybody needs to realize that what he's doing is saying, let's take a step back. let's temporarily pause. >> travel ban is now on hold across the country pending further court rulings. tonight a teacher down the shore is charged with assaulting a student. according to the press of atlantic city, she's been suspended with pay in linwood. the alleged victim is a sixth

grader. his mother seays there's video f her child rocking back in his chair and the teacher kicking it out from under him. police home you'll recognize this man in the surveillance video. they say he used a gun to rub two food trucks. this is video from the first robbery. police tell us he held up another food truck on lancaster avenue two hours later. he got away with $1,500. still ahead, what a wite whoo -- whiteout. how a amtrak train blanketed passengers with snow. a military family reunion. why today's school visit means more than anything to this father.

we have more details on that deadly fire in harrisburg believed to be caused by a hover board. today a second child injured in that blaze died at lehigh valley hospital from complications related to severe burns. a 3-year-old also died in the fire. it's believed to have been started by a hover board plugged in to recharge in the first floor of the house. >> members of the philadelphia fire department spent the day knocking on doors, making sure neighbors had working smoke

detectors. nbc 10 on greenway avenue in southwest philadelphia. there was a deadly fire here monday. the department installed free smoke detectors for anyone who didn't have one. a former sixers player is tweeting that he's buying cheese steaks for everybody. he says he'll be in south philly from 7:00 to 8:00. he's in town since his new team will play the sixers tomorrow night. treat for everybody. >> yeah. let's go. >> all right. now, let's talk about our weather. actually, tammy, have you had a cheese steak yet? you're new to philly. >> i need to have it with the cheese, right? wit? >> yeah, wit. >> wit? okay. we'll have to try it wit. >> you are indoctrinated now. >> i was going to see is it whiz or whiz? never mind. we're going to get ourselves in trouble. let's look outside. we do have some fair weather clouds that have moved through

the area. a mostly sunny day, made it to 38. that's nothing to brag at because we should be at 53. we were 15 degrees below average. beautiful sight to see but a lot of this has turned to ice. big chunks of ice and they can't get any relief. we've been following that story all along this afternoon, this evening. as we turn on our radar, nothing is going on. it's quiet. look at this, we don't have anything in the area. that's very good news. i think that we're very quiet all the way into tomorrow. the temperature, now that's another story unto itself. it's 12 degrees warmer in mount holly. ten degrees warmer in philadelphia and 14 degrees warmer in allentown than this time yesterday. we're headed in the right direction, right? it's not quite there. right now, 38 in philly. 31 at mount pocono. coatesville, 34. vineland 39. and if we head to atlantic city, breaking the 40 degree mark. at least we're starting to see

perhaps a little thaw in the areas that get sunshine, especially on the pavement where the pavement can warm up and start to melt things. okay, this is going to be another big issue for tonight. it's going to be the feels like temperature and it's going to feel raw again at times. by the time we head into tomorrow night, we're really not going to have much of a feels like. why is that? because the winds are going to die down, finally no more bad hair, ladies. nothing blowing around. so this evening, we have wind gusts that are in the teens, watch what happens, by tomorrow morning, these have died down. even in philly, eight mile an hour wind. that's not too shabby. the winds are coming in out of the west. by tomorrow evening if you're headed out, you have plans, you'll be looking at calm winds, that's kind of a nice thing, right? you're not going to have to fasten everything dune aown andy about it so much. this is what i want to share with you. this is our hour by hour forecast. clouds will come in tomorrow night. if you're out bear that in mind. if you're out late at night you'll be watching early

dozens of philadelphia students enjoyed the fruits of their labor today at the philadelphia flower show. >> that's right students from holy cross school visited the pennsylvania convention center to see their work on display.

earlier this year more than 100 students from several schools competed in their first ever junior flower show. winners from that competition got to see their work on exhibit at the convention center. students also enjoyed seeing how they fared against some of the best in the business. >> i think it's tremendously important to get kids engaged in hortic horticultural and sustainability and the natural environment as early as possible. so that they can be stewards going forward. >> this year the students competed in five categories, including botanical illustration and potted plants. a discussion over dinner that's the idea to get people talking about issues affecting their communities. the philadelphia foundation unveiled plans for on the table philly, today in north philadelphia. it's happening on may 23rd the event allows neighbors to get together and talk about solutions. we'll also take part in the event.

chelsea clinton has a children's back coming out in may. it's called she persisted. the book honors 13 women. clinton says she wrote the book for anyone who wanted to speak up but was told to quiet down. after 42 seasons, saturday night live is trying something new. airing live to everybody. for the first time snl will broadcast live simultaneously across the u.s. for its final four shows of the season. until now viewers in the mountain and pacific time shows has seen the show not live as it aired live from new york. the new live for all policy will apply on april 13th, may 6th and may 20th. coming up, rings, necklaces, diamonds, 50,000 pieces of jewelry stolen. you may be a victim. tonight how you can get your missing jewels back. also ahead at 5:00, a father's hug right there. nbc 10 is there for this

deanna durante is joining us. >> you even spoke to a jeweller who allegedly sold some of their stolen items? >> reporter: he's charged in connection with the case. he says police don't have evidence against him. police say the focus right now is trying to reconnect the stolen items with their original owners. gold, silver and diamonds. all of it police say is stolen. they say they have 50,000 items including bracelets, houseware and coins. police say they busted up a burglary ring that dates back to 2013. they can't find all the people who have been victimized. >> we want to reunite the jewelry, the family heirlooms. >> reporter: police say by finding more owners, they'll find more victims. >> we believe that we may discover more burglaries, we may discover more crimes that have occurred. >> reporter: police say they caught several thieves in the act over the summer and the case led them to three jewelry shops in jewellers row.

they raided the shops and this man's home. the. >> i am innocent and nothing beside that. >> reporter: he told me he has proof he bought his items legally. police tell a different story about the items they say they found. >> the set up was consistent with a large jewelry operation. and included pillowcases with stolen jewelry and silver. >> reporter: he is out on bail, some of the his co-defendants are not. police say the crime spree may have gone beyond pennsylvania, new jersey and delaware and they want you to take a good look at thei items. police say they don't know where this came from. go to uour website. you'll be able to look at those items they'll have item numbers. there's an e-mail address you need to reply to. use that item number as well as the description of what you lost and the police department that investigated the crime.

reporting live, deanna durante, nbc 10 news. to our first alert weather now and the remnants of that storm from earlier in the week have made for a trying commute in center city. gridlock this afternoon near city hall because of ice falling from buildings. these workers here at the top of some of the skyscrapers were working to knock the ice off. a stretch of market street was shut down until it was deemed safe to reopen. let's take a live look in the poconos at camel back mountain. if you like skiing with fresh powder, you're going to have another great weekend to look forward to on the slopes there. we'll talk more about the weekend. >> tammie sousa has the details. take a look at what's going on tomorrow. we talked a little bit about the snow. but we haven't talked about your st. patrick's day that much. let's take a look at the conditions. got a minute? because that's all it's going to take to find out. lehigh valley, we'll see 42

and cooler, at night the clouds move in but it will remain dry. the snow/rain doesn't come in until early saturday morning. we'll have a closer look at the totals coming up later on this half hour. we'll see you soon. now here's a look at some of the stories making headlines. montgomery county, a firefighter recovering at home tonight after suffering an injury fighting this house fire. the flames broke out at 1:30. the firefighter was taken to abington hospital. no one else was hurt. in south jersey the search is on for a ilcannkiller in elk township. the gloucester county medical examiner's office says the death was caused by asphyxia. lawmakers in trenton called for more help to remove lead from drinking water. a slow response from the state to both test and clean up lead

contaminated drinking water. the report shows how other states were more proactive in responding to the problem. members of the trenton assembly called for action. >> we need to be pro active. this is a preventible problem. many of the recommendations in the national study for how to eradicate lead in our system are parts of legislation that are currently on the table in the assembly and the senate. >> democratic lawmakers say the first step is to begin regular testing for lead in schools and begin removing it as quickly as possible. in montgomery county, students looking to go to summer school will get a deal on their tuition. manner college is offering something new, buy one credit, get two free. the summer special is open to students everywhere. choosing a career path is no easy task. today's students at washington township high school got a little bit of help. it was all part of the third annual kennedy health career day. radiologists, farm spharmacist

top t mobile engineers are in dallas today to try to figure out what's causing a persistent ghost call issues. when t mobile users in houston call 911 it hangs up. two people died over the weekend including a child after loved ones were unable to reach those emergency operators. now, to a daring escape. caught on camera. an alabama woman kidnapped at gunpoint, manages to free herself. look at that. by jumping right out of the trunk of her own car. the 25-year-old woman told police a man she didn't know walked up and pointed a gun at her outside her apartment.

threw her in the trunk of the car. he got mad when her atm didn't work and he left. >> he was driving across the parking lot. i saw the trunk pop open and i went to get the woman inside the gas station. >> the owner says he kept the victim safe in a back room until help arrived. aside from bumps and bruises we're told she's doing fine. police are still searching for that guy who grabbed her. throne idol that's one of the headlines on british tabloids criticizing prince william for going on vacation. the video of william dancing at a swiss night club is the reason why. william was busting a move, his grandmother, queen elizabeth attended a commonwealth day of service in london. the tabloids are accusing him of not working hard enough. find out who is taking the

a new study shows human touch may be a brain booster for primis. researchers from vanderbilt university mimicked a touch before they were discharged. premies who were held or touched more had a stronger response to the simulated touch than those with less contact.

a link between tooth loss and dementidementia. researche researchers said that people who had less than 20 teeth had a higher chance of developing dement dementia. new jersey's oldest st. patrick's day parade is now postponed because of snowy weather. organizers say the 82 annual parade in newark won't happen tomorrow. the parade will be scheduled for next friday. snow is causing problems of a different kind in monmouth county. >> neighbors are coming outside to find their mail boxes mangled by plow trucks. some of the broken mail boxes here. plows drove waves of wet sloppy heavy snow right into the boxes, ripped some of them apart. it's because plow operators are trying to get as close to the mail boxes to help mail

carriers. the township is offering $50,000 to anyone who needs their mail box repaired or replaced. amtrak passengers waiting for a train to go to penn station when they just get covered in snow. >> our sister station in new york reports on this one. >> reporter: you can see it coming. but commuters likely never imagined how huge a wave of snow this amtrak train would kick up. what seems like an avalanche of snow would cover commuters standing on the platform wednesday morning. one woman, none too happy. a witness says some were knocked to the ground, one person even suffering a minor head injury. the video of the snowy onslaught making rounds on social media a in. >> i would have ran. >> crazy. i mean, like you said, somebody got hurt. >> reporter: jesse lewis questioned the speed of the train as it approached the mound

by that kind of stuff? >> we're not going to get slammed. there's nothing that can go that fast around philly because of all the ice. that's the good news. we'll see more snow. let's take a look at our hour by hour forecast. things are quiet for tonight. we get into tomorrow evening and you can see the clouds are advancing. all of this is ahead of a very fast moving clipper system. this st nis not a nor'easter, y can see that what happens by the time we get into early on saturday morning, we have a rain/snow mix. this is not a big sleet event like we just wient through. rain along the shore, rain/snow mix that waffles back and forth either side of philly. it looks like light snow as we get into upper montgomery, bucks and chester county. as we put this through, you can see the light snow up there, reading picking up light snow. we changed over to rain in philly. we're not expecting a lot of accumulations. that is saturday night.

this whole thing boogies off the coast. it does sort of park there. retrogrades back a little and maybe a quick dusting of snow or rain showers out there on the jersey shore. let's take a look at hour by hour what's going to happen. we're going through friday. you're going to wake up. it's going to be chilly in some places because we'll have clear skies tonight. however, we get into friday evening, things are quiet. we've topped out somewhere in the midupper 30s, 40s around the area tomorrow. here comes the snow. everywhere that's freezing or below you'll be looking at snow. philly is at 33 so it's a rain/snow mix. saturday, light snowshowers, sporadic snow squalls. not heavy snow coming down. certainly nothing like we saw tuesday. this will continue into saturday evening. you can see rain has muoved int philly because the temperature gets into the upper 30s. it doesn't support the rain. as we head through saturday evening, all of this is pretty

well gone. sunday we get sunshine back. we'll have a few clouds out there but we'll be just a little bit cooler on our sunday. let's go ahead and take a look at some of the snow totals. the model is not projecting a lot. you can see stretching to maybe getting an inch by chestnut hill. we get rain, it's all going to wash away and melt. let's take a look at what's going on in montgomery and bucks county, you can see the same thing, 1.7 inches. richland, you have to be in upper bucks county. chester county same thing, less than an inch and a lot of that will wash away. now it gets interesting because we get out to the lehigh valley and the berks and that's where we could pick up an inch and a half, mount pocono might pick up a lit more. this is a forecast model so it can change. out in south jersey, pretty much nothing because it's going to be rain. the same thing for delaware. and the same thing when we head out along the jersey shore. so we're not going to be looking at a big dump of snow at this

point. the forecast models are kind of keeping it on the light side. here's your ten day forecast. 44 for tomorrow. we may get quite warm tomorrow. should be fairly pleasant during the day before we drop off in the evening. clouds will keep us warm at night. 46 for our saturday. raindrop in there for philly but snow for the lehigh valley. 42 on sunday with that rain/snow mix early in the morning. then we hit some 50s. we'll get some nice melting in there. even a 60 by next weekend. not this weekend though darn. >> we got to wait a little while. a diamond on the diamond. a 14-year-old discovered a massive diamond after traveling to southern arkansas for a baseball tournament. the gem he found weighs 7.5 carats. a typical one carat diamond that's uncut sells for $2,000. his is 7 carats. the teen says he's keeping his stone as a souvenir. he might change his mind as
